I am wondering if anyone could answer a question I have. I am wondering if my Hboot version has an impact on what Roms I can flash. I currently have Hboot 2.20.0.0.0 and jelly bean 4.2.2.-........ So am I able to flash any Roms I want as long as it's for a Zara (cl)? Or do I have to be running a certain Hboot version or firmware version to flash certain Roms? If anyone can help me out that would be awesome, if I do have to change hboot I know how to flash it i just wasnt sure if it's needed and what would happen to the current rom I'm using if i were to flash a different Hboot.

Okay, So I've got s-off, unlocked, rooted, all of that stuff going on right now. I've been reading through and I'm so confused on how to upgrade from stock GB to ICS. I see so many methods for different roms, Can someone point me in the direction in I need to go? I'm currently running software number 2.01.605.11 w/ PRI 1.13_002, 1.88_002
Depends what you want to do....
If you dont care for new radios and such, flash an ics Rom of your choosing and then flash the old firmware patch.
If you want new radios run an ics ruu (2 times, 1st time only updates some stuff and you'll have issues unless you do it 2 times) then flash an ics Rom of your choosing.
Also upgrade to amon ra 3.15 if you are on an older version. 3.15 is updated for the changes in ics

Ok, I would like the latest RUU, but do I flash through recovery, or rename and flash through hboot or something?
EDIT: I currently am running Ra 3.15
Flash through hboot as a ph98IMG
Run it twice then you'll need to put amon ra 3.15 again.
I'll attach a copy of amon ra 3.15..... You can rename it to ph98img and flash it in bootloader the same way. Or you can use whatever way you prefer.

Thanks, That's what I thought. I use to be familiar with this when I was using my thunderbolt. But "upgraded" to the LG spectrum and there was absolutely no development for that phone for the 4 months I had it. So I lost touch. BTW never get that phone. I honestly hated it more than any apple product...which to me is a lot of hate
Ok, so I flashed the 3.14.605.5 Ice Cream Sandwich ZIP RUU, I'm still s-off, unlocked and running RA 3.15 . but now it saying I'm not rooted.
Can't you root it again through AmonRa??
I believe there is an issue with ICS. Just flash a rooted stock ROM.

I've been running MeanRom ICS. I wanted to give the sprint stock version a try. What's the best way to do this?
Thanks.

Well since you can't update ota if you are rooted, just find a stock rooted rom and flash it just like any other rom. As you SHOULD know from reading, you can't run the new kernel without the new hboot, so update to that if you want to use the new kernel.

The 2.4 version I do believe was based on the VM leak. His newest 2.6 version is based on the latest Sprint release, and works just great. I have been running it with no issues.
If you have S-off , you can upgrade the hboot and kernel to the latest. If not, you can leave the kernel and hboot you have and just flash the rom.
Just and idea.
Since there are so many questions being asked all over the place, I figured I would try to create and update this thread accordingly with links and whatnot from any information that is provided in following posts.
After rooting, and achieving S-Off, what should be flashed?
Radio
PRI
Kernel
Baseband
How?
All contained in below link in one nice update known as the firmware.
You can do this before or on top of an already installed ROM running this base such as Mean ROM 2.6
Newest OTA is 2.13.651.1
Flash newest firmware from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1859789
2.13.651.1 Firmware Bits
I have done the above steps and my experience is super smooth.
Let me know if I'm missing anything and I'll add it.

Newest OTA is 2.13
Flash the newest radio - Latest: 1.12.11.0809 - Improves signal performance and drop problems
I did this
Now I ask this of you:
What else should/can be flashed after achieving S-Off?
PRI?
Firmware (does that even make sense to flash firmware, only to flash a ROM right on top of it)?
After that, then you flash your ROM
Mean ROM is based on the newest firmware. So does that automatically flash the newest files to your phone?

No it does not

Flashing Mean Rom will update your baseband only. You still need to flash the radios and pri updates yourself.

Hey everyone, I was just curious if it's safe to flash the ICS global RUU if I'm on the modified JB firmware? I thought I had read about people bricking while flashing back to a stock firmware so that's why I was asking. Do I need to go back to S-ON/stock GB, upgrade from Gingerbread firmware, and re S-OFF?
Edit: My current firmware is the latest modified ICS leak, not the GB version.
You should be good to go. The bricks were from turning the secure flag back on while on a modified hboot

I upgraded to 4.03.605.1 (first global leak) and it gives you the 2.27.000 Hboot. After I finished installing, I then flashed the JB Hboot for 3.14.605.5 and it works fine.

if you are s-off and you are flashing the ruu. it will no brick unless you pull the battery when its updating.
make sure you are 60% or higher on battery life.
make sure you back up internal storage, ruu WILL wipe it automatically.
Cool, just wanted to double check. Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated!
You don't need to do the whole RUU if you're s-off, just use the Firmware thread in the dev section, there's already one packaged with the new firmware and the 2.25 Jbear hboot.
I downgraded my hboot but I want to get back to stock ROM until I find a stable ROM. Do I need to go back to hboot I had before downgrading? Last thing where can I find the hboots PS using virgin mobile

No, you don't have to change your hboot. Have you tried Wild for the Night? It is very stable and comes with a cleaner UI and more features than a stock Sense rom.
