What is the point of blocking adb commands on the Marshmallow build? It's basically rendered my phone useless. Has anyone found anything out about obtaining root on MM yet?
Nope just waiting and can't downgrade either will lead to BRICK!

Hi, I actually haven't rooted my S3 yet but in updating to jelly bean Barclays is convinced that I have!
Anyway imo they have a totally arbitrary and blinkered approach to security so I'm ditching them.
What I'd like to know is your experiences of bank apps and if they work with rooted handsets (i plan to root in the future).
I have the HSBC app which works but is limited to giving mini statements only.
Ideally I'd like an app that is as fully featured as possible, allowing transfers and the like. I've heard that Halifax offer this but I can't find info if it works with root.
Any experiences would be a great help and much appreciated. Thanks

I have as well barclays and hsbc ? have you found anything by now about Halifax? Although i don't like barclays from the same reason (I had an unrooted s3 and note 3 and several times they where saying there rooted), i heard barclays has good security.

You can check out the Xposed Framework and the RootCloak module to see what apps are supported to hide that you are rooted.
It's not just the UK. Most banking apps won't work when rooted for me either and the xposed mod doesn't help with either of them.
[email protected] Barclays email support! I suggest to send them as many emails as possible from customers who want rooted devices support!

There is a reason they dont work. Rooted devices are not as secure as non rooted devices. This is why they refuse to allow rooted devices to work with the app.
I can understand that but a windows computer you can consider it more dangerous and there you have root access.

If you look deeper no you dont. In most windows you are not even marked as the owner by default. That is why you have o run some programs with admin rights.
Plus Root can be exploited without you even knowing, There was once a glitch found with root that an app could be granted root access without you even knowing. IT would not even popup the root request but it would be granted root rights with no trace.
I don't want to create a debate or anything.... We are getting of topic anyway.
Now on the topic itself...
Hsbc app works good on rooted phones. From what I know barclays is the only uk bank app that does not work on rooted devices!
Halifax and Systemless root
Hi, I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 rooted. Up until now, the Halifax Banking App has always worked since the rooting method I used with "systemless". In the latest update of the app, it is now telling me that I am rooted. Anyone found a way round this please?
I run both a rooted phone and tablet in the UK. Santander does not run after their latest update. Most are starting to use the Google safety net API so I would expect HSBC to block soon (they are just a bit slow). The only one I know that actively recognises root and let's you carry on is First Direct.
The irony is I can run them all on an ancient phone on 5.1 cos it's not rooted only missing 3 years security patches!!!
I have always used adaway on my devices but it does not seem to work properly for me on this device. I am running Verizon One Max stock rom, Rooted, S-off, bootloader is relocked. Should it be working with these settings.
as far as i know there is no relation between your rom/s-off/bootloader or anything else. it should work if you have it installed and running properly.
Its not. I'm not sure what's going on. A little more info. If I try to open the host file from the adaway app nothing happens. When using any root app that wants to reboot the phone it just closes and I have to reboot manually. Not sure if this is related but it is what I have found.

I had the same issue with the Sprint variant until I install an unsecure boot.img. Without the unsecure boot.img root was not functioning correctly. Not sure if this is the exact same issue or not, but its worth looking into, and before you ask: No I don't have a unsecure boot.img for the Vzw device, and no the one for Sprint should not work on the Vzw device.
Thanks for the info. I know the sprint version is no good to me. I have been all over Google and am guessing a Verizon unsecured boot.IMG is just not available right now. If anyone out there knows a link please help.

I believe one or two people are working on providing the Verizon files and/or an ruu. Not sure what issue you might be having as I am on Verizon and don't seem to be having issues with adblock plus. I have not relocked my bootloader since running rumrunner though. So for now you may have to do without fingerprint and leave bootloader unlocked until the files come out.

I unlocked it again and rerooted just to be safe. Still no good. The only thing I see that has changed is ad away now shows me the host file when I tell it to. It is full of blocked things but it is not blocking. I added a site manually and rebooted. I can still get to the site. I will try ad block plus. Maybe it will work better.

Last post I care to make on this issue. I am just going to deal with it. Someone released the insecure boot.img for verizon but it still does not solve my issue. No ads are blocked.
My device also face that problem like after reboot device the adblock app disable itself again.

So, I feel asleep belly down on my tablet and awoke to find the file manager open to a root directory. I'm thinking I accidentally deleted some system files because a lot of apps are crashing with java.lang.runtimeexception unable to start process. Should I just give in and re-enable OTA?
The update really does look attractive and apparently addresses many ram issues. Is there any way to retain root? While preferred, I could live without it.
Thanks in advance!

You have a 90% chance of hard bricking. No root either I believe. Pretty sure there is no undo either. Hold off, see if safestrap or TWRP is available, and flash a ROM with that.
What version of FireOS are you currently on?

First statement is FUD. Second may or may not be true depending on current firmware version/level. Agree with last sentence. Let's fully assess situation before plunging in the knife. You failed to do that before and bricked one (if not) two devices.

Tablet still works okay enough. I think I've narrowed down the issue to android web view. On apps such as Reddit is fun, it loads up text posts just fine but crashes as soon as it tries to load up an imgur link or some other webpage. Apps such as dolphin crash immediately, but chrome works just fine because it uses its own engine for html interpretation and rendering.
Should I try installing Google's Android web view build?

Can't comment on your specific question; I have no direct experience with Google's tools. If you continue to experience problems I would lean toward installing another rom (Nexus or CM) since you have the ability to unlock your bootloader which offers the most flexibility. If that is unattractive for whatever reason then you may want to go with Safestrap v3 which can then be used to 'repair' FireOS. There is some risk with this approach but you would retain root and could uninstall Safestrap after FireOS is made whole again.
Well, I tried installing Google's webview build. It's not compatible with our CPU apparently.
Could someone put up a copy of their kindle's webview apk? I can't find it anywhere online.

If I were to unlock the bootloader would I be able to retain it after update? I don't want to go with a different Rom because I'm already very limited on how much free space I have on my device.

It's one or the other:
- unlock bootloader and replace rom (possibly with a good version of FireOS)
- install Safestrap and replace rom in stock slot as your space is limited. FireOS remains an option.
Both paths involve risk. Bootloader unlocking is more complicated but offers better recovery capability if something goes wrong. Safestrap is much easier (quicker) but has limited recovery capability if your rom gets borked. Bootloader unlock is permanent unless you try to flash a full image from a Amazon (only use FireOS images recommended in these forums).
I upgraded from Google Wallet to Android Pay for NFC payments today and when I set up my card it gives me the error "Android Pay cannot be used Google is unable to verify that your device or the software running on it is Android compatible" (yes, "Android," not "Android Pay"). Is anybody else running into this? Trying to narrow to down whether this an incompatibility with CyanogenMod in particular or the phone being rooted/ROMed at all.
I'm on stock rooted of1 and getting same thing. I think it's root that's the problem from what I have been gathering off the internet.

You're right, you cannot use Google pay with a rooted phone, I heard that there is an xposed module that hides root so that it be used.

I was able to disable su in super user app then add card and it worked. Then I enabled su again. Still working but haven't tested at store yet. Not sure if disable is available in free su app as I have the paid app.

I need to get in touch with any developers that could use someone willing to donate their ****ty hydro wave for the greater good. I've read and read and read for hours on end now I'm completely fed up. I will need some instruction on how to do some things most likely but please help the masses who have this phone and need the root. I don't care if we end up bricking it at this point I almost want it to happen

Kingroot 4.02 version should do wonders. Google for Kingroot 4.02 Apk download. > Install the app > Open and Click Root.
Make sure your security apps are removed, and must have good internet connection. Let me know if this specific version of Kingroot works for you as well because the latest one failed and this one did wonders.
OK trying now

Not sure why it just gave you temporary root. But still, you got rid of unwanted things and that's good
Yes true but let's say for some reason my phone gets locked or stuck in a bootloop or something. The only way I'll ever be able to do a recovery is through settings Kyocera themselves said that is the only way. Therefore I need full permanent root and eventually a custom rom
