I have a cracked and scuffed touchscreen on my x10 and for $30 on ebay I was going to replace the screen. My concern is that I can get ones from China for half the price of the USA and some say 'Grade A no bubbles' but others do not, are these quality screens from China or will I be diasspointed?
Has anyone had a bad experience replacing their touch screen with the Chinese products? They say OEM but are they from Sony or are they knock offs and is there build quality concerns using the cheap ones?
in my opinoin when it comes to electronics , especially from china, you get what you pay for, id rather pay a little extra knowing that it will be ok
Agreed. With china there's a 99% chance that what you are buying is not OEM. Likely it's very cheaply made.
Yeah I hear ya... that is probably exactly what I would had replied to this post if someone else asked the same question.
I was really hoping someone would tell me that they bought a screen from XXXXX on ebay and it was better then the original but I guess I need to decide if I want cheap or quality.
I've already replaced the phone with an HTC EVO 3D but there is alot of life left in this X10 and it is a great platform for hacking and learning android. Plus they make awesome tiny tablets for around the house.
Thanks for the input.
I got white replacement from china which is quite good.. I won't say its authentic, but here in the UK most replacement dealers get there stuff from china anyway.
Buying from China is like cutting out the middle-man, the down side is just you need to wait.. And if you think they are not what you think your money's worth, you could always tell them you did not receive the item and get your refund.
try to buy from best sellers only...otherwise nothing is guaranteed.
Omar.
Hello guys, I operate from China is not good, shipping times are very long, why not order from Germany or thereabouts? I ordered this screen protector from Germany and arrived in 3 days, I am very well, without delays or other touch ... Regards, Joseph

Because chinese sh!t is cheaper then German sh!t?
Globalshining
Maybe i'm the lucky one, bought one from globalshining on ebay for 20 Euro and thought: well if this aint gonna work, it;s 20 euro's thrown away. But here in my town (germany) they ask 80 Euro for it. After 8 days!!! I received the piece: fitted perfectly but it was at least one hour work to get the overly scratched old one of and the new one on. I did search google for disassembling instructions for the X10 and found one with lots of photo's. Without these instructions, you easily brick your phone.
Regarding GlobalShing: its on ebay, or eshoptradehk dot com I first checked the ebay ratings: then decided to do so..
But do get your own screwdrivers cause the one from China dont fit at all....
Cheers
hey could someone help me with a link?
i just cracked the front screen on my fone and i need to replace it. would like to replace the whole screen and case.
i googled a few, but i was not sure if they included the front screen cos its the front screen thats cracked.
then i also learnt that the touch module is glued to the front glass screen, will the new case screen also have one attached to it or would i have to remove this one and stick it to the new one?

Well I'm still looking for a good replacement. I've done plenty of reading and research but I'm not sure which way to go.
Has anyone done a digitizer swap? What was the end result? Were you happy or did it brick your phone?
Any opinions would be nice to hear.
Thanks.
put a super amoled display from the SGS in it
Hi, I cracked my digitiser VERY badly, so I was forced to replace the digitiser... The LED was slightly scratched because of the drop, but I don't mind, it's hardly noticable. I took the phone apart like 3 times:
1 - taking it apart
2 - power button i forgot to put back
3 - had a little of $h!t under the digitiser

I swapped my digitiser, and so did XDA Recognised Developer for the x10 pvyparts and none of our phones were bricked, it worked perfectly after... Took about 20min to do, I did it during school break because I was bored...
Goodluck!
Better you replace the phone, you don't know the quality that Chinese product
i have tried a couple of different touches an for me so far all of them has been a bit of a dissapointment, the touch works good but the fit is bad. Sensors, proximity particularly, gone bad. sry for really bad eng.
i got my digitizer from ebay china its was pretty good get it with the housing black or white much better then trying to sick the digitizer on the old housing paid around $30 au
i guess at the end of the day all these parts are made in china oem or not
Got my prime, got it rooted, NVFlashed and all that good stuff, and was enjoying it until the digitizer and LCD broke. Can't seem to find a decent priced LCD/digitizer combo anywhere.
Should I hold onto it, or sell it? Anyone know where to find a cheapy combo for LCD and digitizer?

Well, we seem to have what's necessary to make 1 functional TF201.
You'll see this is only my second post. My other post here is regarding swapping a new LCD into my TF201 due to it getting cracked by a rack on a ship (digitizer survived oddly). Well, I got a new LCD, but now the damn thing won't turn on. It's been an 8 month project trying to source a new LCD and to meet this sort of obstacle at the final moment is utterly depressing, and I'm pretty much done with this tablet.
So, I have a TF201 64GB with (as far as I know) functional LCD and digitizer. I have no idea what's wrong the rest of the hardware though. It's completely non-responsive. I'm very angry as I just spent 8 months (as I said) and $125 on this new LCD and the damn thing still doesn't work.
If you want it we can work something out. Or, alternatively, if you want to sell yours, let me know. I'll PM you my email (provided I can PM here with 2 posts, lol).

While it's true that the digitizer and LCD are held together by double-sided foam, it's not terribly difficult to separate the two. I have heard of a lot of people having trouble with it, but using a xacto blade to cut the foam worked perfectly for me. Once the two were separated, I was able to test that they both worked, despite the LCD screen being cracked (meh...).
On reassembly, using 3mm double-sided foam (found it on amazon) worked pretty well too.
I've read about the inverted X-axis issues people are having with replacement digitizers, and that's terrible. I had a lot of trouble finding the correct LCD as well, as the HSD101PWW2 comes in at least 2 different versions. The common one found on ebay isn't compatible due to a different connector, and I was only able to find a new LCD from a broken TF201.

What's the rev of your LCD? Rev 0-A01? It's on the sticker that you got the HSD part number from.
I replaced my LCD with one (Rev 0-A01) that I bought from an eBay seller in the U.S. (seems like almost ALL of them are in China). It did not come with double-sided foam tape (thought that it *may* have come pre-attached with removable waxed strips covering the side that sticks to the digitizer). I went ahead and mounted the LCD using just the 4 philips screws. I thought that I might have light bleed doing this, but I didn't want to have to find tape. No light bleed. *BONUS* this LCD can now be easily removed if I need to in the future.
Do you have a Rev 0-A01?
I found a working replacement digitizer, it's when I looked closer when I was going to replace it I noticed that the LCD was cracked. Soon as I touched the back of it it went apesh*t.
So I'm returning the digitizer, and going to get rid of the Prime. Going to buy a laptop. Since the Prime has seen probably 30 hours of usage, it's still pretty new except for the screen. Even have the GPS dongle (never had many wifi issues like most people).
Since most of the busted ones sell on eBay for $250ish (that I've found when the bids end, that includes shipping) I'll probably ask for a bit lower than that, with shipping included.
Mine is the 32gig model, GPS dongle and cable, etc included. I'll burn off the NVFlash blob as well, in case you flash another android version on it and need recovery.

Yes, Rev 0-A01. I found mine through a reputable LCD vendor's website. They initially sent me a screen compatible with the other version (I can't remember the model number) but it wasn't compatible with the TF201. So I sent it back, and 4 months later they seem to have found a cache of screens, which I received one of.
I would also like to point out that they still have some available, but I won't post the link as I don't want to infringe on any rules here. But if you need a screen they are out there, you've just got to look a little.

Oh no, yeah, I've got a good screen and digitizer. Just won't turn on now for some reason. Charges (with LED confirming charge level) but power button/power button and down volume/reset pin do nothing. Plugged it into my W7 box, and Windows throws a misconfiguration error when trying to mount it. Something happened to it, unfortunately, between the time when I took it apart and when I finally got a good LCD. There's not a whole lot of troubleshooting info either in terms of individual components because most people just send them in to Asus for repair.

Alright, I'll watch the MP here assuming you're selling it here. I'm watching a few other places too, trying to find a donor.
There are some really nice ultrabooks out now days, I wish you luck.
Since it still works, and it's no hassle with bidding, already NVFlashed with blobs on disc, GPS dongle and about 30hrs use on it (if that) I think I'll ask about $200+, that includes the shipping to Canada/US.

But the buyer will still need to lay out around $200 for a new digitizer and LCD and then install, right? Sounds considerably high. Unless you're also including a keyboard/dock, it might be a hard sell. The less than 30 hours of use doesn't amount to much when you consider that it's substantially broken. I don't care (much) that a car has les than 15K if it's been totaled and I need to do the body work. The mileage is of substantially less conern than it would be.

So, I'm an idiot.
The replacement was a Rev 0-A00, and doesn't work with the TF201.
The "new" shell works, but I still have no display. At least I've got it narrowed down to the same old problem though.
The phone functions well, but it has a crack which has incapacitated the digitizer.
I'd like a way to get all of the photos, text data, and contact information from the phone, but I cannot seem to find a way.
Should I just buy a digitizer?
I guess I could just buy one of these I found on craigslist for $125, but the guy's an hour away. Maybe I could meet him halfway? If I got that, maybe I could move parts over.
Otherwise, I could just Ebay myself some parts.
I searched for "e970 parts" and found what looks like a digitizer replacement for $25. I'd post links here, but I think one of the mods would have to take pity on me.
Anyway, let me know if you have any experience with this, or if there's a better forum for me to post about this

Ok lets see:
Digitizer is glued to the LCD, so unless you have the skill, I suggest you buy both lcd and digitizer assembly.
So, after 2 weeks with the phone, I've cracked my s6 edge screen (LCD is intact). I don't have any insurance plan and the only available option is to replace it.
I've found the glass only for $26, much better than $250 for the whole display.
The problem now is that everywhere I look for on how to detach the old cracked glass from the LCD I find the same answer: IT IS VERY DIFICULT AND SHOULD BE AVOIDED!
So why is it even being sold?
I've found a lot of teardown videos on how to disassemble the phone etc etc, but none shows how to do this and some of them says the above.
Anyway, does anybody know how to replace the glass only and keep my existing LCD/Digitizer? I don't want to spend $250+ just because it's dificult.
Thanks in advance for any help!

yeah ok, I just wanted to know if there is any tip or something as it's supposed to be "very difficult" and it could end by cracking the LCD.
It is very difficult, I don't understand why you think otherwise. Pretty sure, there's no way to not to mess up.
My advice, if the crack isn't too major live with it. Otherwise replace the whole digitizer.
Or you can end up destroying it all together like this guy

It is very difficult to replace glass only.
You can google the video
Don't try to replace the Glass Lens by yourself, Trust me. you will 100% brake the LCD. I have the best solution. 1. sell your good function LCD to GG MALL and buy a Original OEM replacement LCD from them. if may offer more than 100$ if your lcd is good. and just buy a New part will just cost you 170$. finally you will just cost 70$ and get a OEM New union.
Buy repair kit, comes with guitar pick-like tool and small screwdrivers and the replacement screen.
Use Blowdryer/Heatgun/Hairdryer on front of phone to heat up front around the frame.
This will melt the adhesive keeping the screen tact to the frame/motherboard/back ***CAUTION*HOT*USE*GLOVES***
Use guitar pick-like tool then small screw driver to pry/lift screen gently
***DO NOT PIERCE/PUNCTURE/POKE BATTERY***
***FIRE***FIRE***FIRE***FIRE***FIRE***FIRE***FIRE***

Lay down replacement screen to cover digitizer/lcd

You will have to pay.
Use the online chat.
The screen costs RMB 1513 here in China.
Samsung homepage provides the prices of main parts of their products with warranty void.
Maybe crack you eyes. Best way to fix. Who told you not to get the one-time free screen replacement?

Well why didn't you get a tempered glass or screen guard or cover?
My tablet fell but it had a screen guard I still though it'd break but it didn't.
I've invested im protection atleast 5 percentage of money of what I paid for the tablet.
Go to Samsung.
Pay whatever they ask. Unless you got that one time screen replacement still valid. Such a beautiful screen what a waste.

I'd rather risk dropping it and break the screen rather than spoil the experience and feel of the screen for the entire life of owning the device.
Manufacturers like Samsung don't put expensive oleophobic coatings on their devices for nothing.
It's like those people that cover their leather car seats with some cheapo seat cover. :silly:

I have a tempered glass on my screen and gel case on the tab that has really good cushion lift . My tab cracked underneath the tempered glass . No scratch on the tempered glass
