Verizon Repair Assistant - Xperia Z3v General

Hey,
I was wondering if the "Repair Assistant" software, released by Verizon is any good. My phone fails gyroscope, accelerometer, proximity sensor, and light sensor tests. I am running software version 23.1.D.0.509.
Thanks,
Phil

I have had nothing but problems with it. Have you tried to reset the phone. Most of the problems I have had with the phone as far as things not working have been fixed with resetting the phone. Thanks.

im here bro
im up this file bro ask me

Where can I download it?
I cannot extract from my Z3v as it is now unusable (only Fastboot seems working but don't know how to connect, latest flashtool shows driver missing):crying:

Does anybody know where VZW Software Upgrade/Repair Assistant resides in FTF?

[Q] Does Google Voice Navigation work with the world generic x10a ROM?

Hi. I've been reading through the forums and am thinking of flashing to the world generic for x10a (2.1, latest build) but don't want to lose some of the functions of my phone that may be country specific such as Google Voice Navigation for their Google Maps. I was wondering if Google Voice Navigation will still work after I flash to world generic for x10a, i.e. can I still use it as a gps when I drive (like it'll give me voice directions)? If it doesn't, any way to make it work?
On a semi-related note, I've been reading that there have been issues with the gps and wifi with the ROM update/flash. Have those been resolved with the latest 2.1 update that was released a few days ago (at least those that are software related and not hardware related)? The world generic is really the LAM but non-country specific without any of the bloatware that our carriers put on yes (I'm on AT&T and given their responses...ugh)? And if the world generic x10a 2.1 ROM happens to not install google voice search, I can just install batman_112's apk after flashing?
Thanks a lot for any help!

I use the 2.1 world generic. I have an AT&T X10a.
Navigation is there, yes.
You can install voice search, yes.
Issues, no.
Bloatware from AT&T, no.
You can root from here and remove whatever apps you do not like using root explorer or titanium backup.
Good luck.
Thanks man! That's awesome. Will do it once I charge up my phone (and of course after I do all the set up things). As an official ROM, we'll get the future updates (if SE releases anymore) as they come directly from SE right? Would we need to reroot every time there is an update?
Sorry, I'm still learning... Thanks.

Yes, you can get future updates directly from SEUS. You will not be tied to AT&T anymore. And yes, you will need to re-root every time you update but, that should not be a problem. Just pop in here whenever you need something and I am sure you will find what you are looking for.
Also, before you start, watch this tutorial regarding the flash tool.
Yes the answer to your question. If you use SEUS to update your phone you will need to re- root your devices after the update. I would look into checking out one of the custom roms that are out. i have tried each one and have it narrowed down to 2 to be my daily. either the EminenceBuild or J's 2.2CustomDarkStyle.
Thanks guys. The info and help is much appreciated.
Sorry, forgot to ask- the flash tool would be from jerlepea's massive ROM thread correct? Then I would root using batman_112's/your superoneclick's root program. Thanks.

Yes, you will find the flash tool there or you can go here and get it.
You can then root from here or here.
Thanks! Will be watching the video once I get back. This place is awesome, made awesome by you guys.
Thanks for the quick replies and info.

No problem
Come back and post to let us know how it went. Good luck!
Will do. Will do it later on in the week as I don't want to accidentally brick it during the week when I need to use the phone and have an all-nighter (however remote it appears to be); anyway, after flashing and rooting, I may not sleep anyway b/c I would want to play around with it! It's a pretty sweet device that's mainly marred by the official "support." But the support here more than makes up for that. Thanks again!
Ok, I tried flashing for...well much longer than it should have taken. I tried both PC Companion and SEUS. When I first got my x10a, I was able to update with PC Companion no problem. Now, when I'm trying to enter flash mode, my computer hangs. The phone enters flash mode (green light turns on) but my computer than hangs - it detects the SEMC device but then it hangs and the phone eventually just boots up normally then. I read somewhere that it might be the usb drivers? But I can't find the thread now or the files. Does anyone have them? I'm using Win XP SP3, antivirus and firewall off during flash attempts. Any advice? Thanks!
Hey, ok, I've been trying to flash my x10a for...well let's just say much longer than it should have been. Things seem fine in that I was able to use PC Companion to update when I got my x10a out of the box. But now, when I'm using either SEUS or PC Companion, my computer hangs once it detects the SEMC Device...after several seconds, the x10a just loads up normally and my computer hangs. I remember reading somewhere that it might be the usb drivers? I've been looking through the forums but can't seem to find it now - does anyone have it?
I'm running Win XP SP3, antivirus and firewall off when doing the flashing. Please help. Thanks!
---
I've tried it on another computer to no avail - it's the same thing, it sees the SEMC Mass Storage but it does not register as SEMC Flash Device (i.e. it sees it as a SEMC Flash Device but then it stops). I've uninstalled and reinstalled PC Companion and Update Service which should have given clean install of the drivers. I don't know what to do. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.
Ok, I finally got the firmware to flash but I can't seem to root now. Am reading through the threads but it seems like I am doing everything right, just not getting the results. Which sucks.
Btw, why does the haptic feedback not turn off properly? I turn it off but whenever I press a key, it still vibrates?

[Q] Problems with Downgrading L9

Hello everyone
I am new to LG phones but quite familiar with modding Sony phones, as all of you know that there are many problems with L9 like not able to move data to sd card, Touch screen sluggishness sometimes and not able to mount the memory card but many of them can be fixed via rooting. But again only V10a and V10c are rootable, i have v10d P765 IND version. I want to degrade the firmware so that i can root the mobile and play with it properly.
I followed the guide KDZ offline flashing method but I am getting error
"cannot connect to internet , check the cable line"
I am following every step, Does anyone know what is this?
Thanks in advance :fingers-crossed:

well did u run shttps ?
did u run windows enabler to ON ?
did u installed proper drivers for phone ?
did u turned of lg pc suite ?
did u installed proper lg mobile support tool ?\
did u instaled android sdk (not required but... still good to have it)
and the most important did u readed the tutorial few times ?
if u have checked all steps as YES then everything should go well.
Just check everything again.
Btw i also get that info when i dont turn on shttps !
PROblem persist
Thanks for the suggestion,
I did everything thats said in the tutorial, flashing started but stopped at update saying, problem with communicating device and PC. as told i tried both modes
1. usb debugging on (mobile normal)
2. software update mode (by holding vol up and connection)
but the problem persist.....i have installed every single driver i supposed to insatlled, but bro its really frustating....I really want to root ....or i have to sell this mobile by swearing never to buy LG mobile...
Your first problem (Please, check internet line and execute program again.) is solved. Correct?
And now you got a "cannot connect to phone" message, right?
Did you try to connect to your phone with LG PC Suite. Because if you can connect and sync your phone then all driver is installed. Download at your local LG website ex. for me http://www.lg.com/th/support-mobile/lg-LGP768F#software, in PC Sync Tab
If you install all drivers when you connect to your PC, you should see new 2 drives (Phone internal SD and External SD)
NOT solved bro
the problem came again, it start showing check the internet cable again.....
i dont know what the problem is?
it worked once but now its not working. It seems that my shttp isnt working properly because i can connect the mobile via internet and check the update, when offline it start showing that again.
Btw i am using automatic offline procedure.vbs program. I think there will be less chance of mistake by this method.
my mobile is being detected perfectly by pc suite and other media, as you mentioned i can see two drives also.
Basically i am standing at the starting problem again...wtf....
Nevermind bro thanks for the help. I have already given you so much headache.

There is full-working guide for flashing and rooting by me in Development section. Also it seems you missed the Collection of ROMS and Rooting post above in General Section too.
Forget windows enabler or vbscripting and flash offline in simple steps and simply root. perfectly works for P765 and others variants too.
I am with Rooted Stock V10c on P765 India. Working superb with no issue at all since 2 weeks or more.
I followed your guide only
hello,
I am from india too and i am on 10d firmware, i tried your guide only from starting and believe me I followed every single step in your guide but actually I am getting error while updating at 3-6%....
"communication problem between device and PC"
For information I tried software update method and usual mobile on (Debugging on) methods. even tried every single usb port in my PC.
I tried atleast 20 times to restart in different modes but still it donot complete....I am really frustated by its low memory. whats the point of having a quite powerful hardware if I cannot even play games just because of low memory..

I think if its stopping at 3-6% that roughly means the flashing did not start at all upto that poing and you are getting total connect proble. Tried changing cable? Cant ruleout connection problem due to cable with weak transmission. Also a driver issue.
This worked here for everyone on P765. You may try again with proper drivers.
Did you start software upgrade mode by power off your phone and hold volume up button when plug in usb cable? You phone should show software upgrade screen.
I remember that I can flash almost other model/variant on my phone except one, which I cannot remember. If it not compatible with your phone there are error after reboot.

Sony Xperia Mini Pro Rogers. Broken touchscreen

I have just been given a Sony Xperia Mini Pro with a broken touch screen.
The LCD works and when I was given the device it was in Airplane mode somehow I was able to access the device but what I did to get it to bypass the slider I couldn't tell you. I then put it into adb debugging and started adding an account etc... anyway at some point the screen turned off and now I cannot access it again. I have tried using moroboro to install other launchers then pressing home button (back button home and menu work but nothing above that) after entering a couple of numbers to activate the emergency dialer. This allows me to choose the launcher that I want to use but it still has the same lock screen slider.
I am trying to either bypass the slider part of the process, I thought I accomplished this by switching to a password to open the phone, but that didn't work and now no matter whether I am using airplane mode or not I cannot get the screen to unlock like I did before. It even connects to the internet because I setup wifi on the device. It is in MTP mode though and one potential fix I thought of for using flashtool to reinstall the rom says MTP BAD or words to that effect. Can anyone help me with this?
I can connect via emmulator when the phone is off but connected to the computer and I can get adb shell su to work, but don't know where to go from there. I found a few things regarding changing the sqlite3 db but am nowhere near knowledgeable to start messing with that.
If you need anything further as to information please let me know.
Thanks
Phone should in flash mode for flash tool to work

Bro,u can use flashtool only in flashmode not in mtp mode
so turn off your device..press and hold vol down while connecting the usb cable and your phone led should turn green..now get yourself a stock ftf file from http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/35239 and flash it..or use SEUS and see if you can get the touchscreen working...
remember that phone data and apps will be lost when you flash but sdcard will be untouched..
may be your touchscreen drivers are corrupted and reflashing stock may solve the problem..i hope so..

I don't think you understand about the touchscreen it's physically cracked it was dropped on the ground or something like that. I don't think it's a driver problem. lol. I should have been more specific considering that most of the references to the touchsecreen not working that I found were more software related than hardware like mine.
I know how to get into flashmode but thought that I had to have a bootloader that was unlockable (Rogers would never allow that setting to be overlooked). I can't update via the PC companion because I can't unlock the screen and I don't have a Rogers sim to put in it. The main reason I want to do this mainly is to see if it is working other than the damage to the screen and I didn't get around to checking everything before I shut off the screen which locked it. I don't want to spend $35 on a new screen assembly only to find out that one or more fundamental things on the phone don't work.
I am suprised that there isn't an unlock key-combination that you can use via the slider keyboard.
Does anyone know what it would be that would cause the phone to bypass the lockscreen before and why it won't now?

I couldn't find the SK17A firmware the link you gave me. The list below is from the page

As We All Are Using Any Phone From Xperia 2011 Lineup
Phones Are

3. Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro (SK17i)
4. Sony Ericsson Xperia Active (ST17i)

Yes I know the screen unlock code. I'll try it and get back to you.
Well that didn't work. I don't know what i was supposed to see but I ran it via USB and Wifi and nothing. I didn't even see any Ui other than phone connected. And using the keyboard shortcuts like win+b opened up bookmarks and ctrl+win did nothing and rather than start ctrl+(x) my way through the keyboard I decided to uninstall it.
Also regarding the firmware that I found called "Sk17a_4.1.B.0.431_Generic Trade US" it's not for a Rogers phone and I don't want to flash the myriad of files no matter how tempted I might be until I know for sure that it won't brick the device.
Files included in the package are
adsp.sin
amss.sin
amss_fs_mango.sin
apps_log.sin
cache.sin
fota0.sin
fota1.sin
kernel.sin
loader.sin
simlock.ta
system.sin
userdata.sin
I have an idea though on how I can basically factory reset the phone through flashmode if it will work and it not brick anything let me know. I am thinking that if I check exclude for all the parts that can be installed:
SYSTEM
BASEBAND
KERNEL
FOTA
TA
and also for wipe check:
DATA
CACHE
APPSLOG
I will factory reset the phone while at the same time not flash anything that could harm the device. My device cannot have it's bootloader unlocked.
The only thing that I can see that I am not able to change is the loader.sin from being installed to the phone, (likely the only thing if installed to the wrong carrier version, etc... that will have the phone burst into flames knowing my luck, lol Whimper)
Oh and btw I have managed to root the phone using flashtool successfully but am unable to allow anything to run as root because of the pesky locked screen problem I'm having so I am getting fails for anything I try to do as root.

I didn't find the exact firmware for my Rogers device through that page. But I did find a solution to the problem. I downloaded SEUS and used that to update and factory reset my device. First thing I did afterwards was to make sure that I had 30mins for screen off then shut off the slide lock. Now the phone is running Android 4.04 and I did install the sharekm and it works great I'll have to give the dev a good rating. Quite simple to use and the only peev is the overshoot disconnect that happens when you move the mouse too far over the edge. Anyway that is for a review. I haven't done much with it yet and will have to play around some more later on.
It's a pity that I can't unlock the bootloader and flash custom ROMs considering the tutorial for building your own customs specific to this device are available. And that the Flashtool allows you to extract images without having to use Linux commandline (which I am still learning and breaking things more often than not with sudo). That aspect in itself is one more step removed. I have to set up cygwin properly and then I can extract the files properly. I got some errors when trying to do so. Then once i have done that I guess I have a hel of a lot of reading to do.
Thanks for all your help even for the stuff that didn't work it got me reading and learning a few more things than I had erm known before. Have a great day

[Q] [Help] Bricked my ZTE V965

Bought a ZTE V965 because it was a special offer and I wanted to give android a try. Nice phone for the money, hardware wise, but software wise it needed some work. No google apps! I rooted the phone with vroot, worked fine. Installed SuperSU and CWM, seemed fine, but CWM is not fully functional. When I boot in restore mode, it doesnt mention CWM, it seems to be the native restore mode.
Tried to install google apps as APK's, but this didnt work. Play store closes instantly. Can't login chrome. Tried to install gapps.zip in recovery mode, error message, not working. I gave the phone a factory reset a few times during all this, and that worked fine.
Then I read a guide for manually installing gapps to the system app folder.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2428314
So I installed root explorer, and put several gapps files in the system app folder:
OneTime Initializer.apk
GoogleLoginService.apk
Google Services Framework.apk
Setup Wizard.apk
Gmail.apk
Still not working though, gmail app crashes.
So I wanted to factory reset again, to start with a blank canvas. Big mistake!!! After the factory reset, the google files are not removed! Now when I boot the phone the setup wizard starts and crashes. I haven't found a way to get around it. What makes things worse, the phone is no longer detected when connected to my PC. Before ADB toolkit would detect the phone, no problem. Now nothing.
Any ideas what I can do? All that is necessary (I expect) is that this setupwizard is killed/bypassed/whatever, but I can't figure out how to do it.
I can get into the emergency number dialer, maybe something is possible from there?
Well, as always, immediately after posting, I made some progress! I booted the phone, and got a low battery warning, from which I could access the settings and enable USB debugging. Now I have ADB toolkit connected again. Also, I went into application settings, to kill and disable all these gapps. I managed to do this for all but one, the biggest problem: setupwizard.apk. Maybe because it's running i can't disable it? The option is greyed out. So when I reboot, I still get the setup wizard that crashes.
However, I do have what i believe is a stock ROM (from a chinese website, hard to be sure, but the name suggests it). Might try to flash that one using adb-toolkit.
Finally managed to fix it using linux shell. Killed the setupwizard task, deleted all gapps from system/app, problem solved.
Still would very much like to have working Gapps though. Hopefully this phone will become more popular outside China, so more people will look into flashing it. I've tried, but I can't do it. No fastboot drivers, and the native flash method (putting update.zip on phoen storage) doesn't work. For now I'll stick with the stock ROM and just use it in it's very limited state.
chance you can put a link to that stock ROM you found?

I am still trying to figure out that romaster tool. Rooting is simple, but i can't manage to flash a ROM. Please keep me updated if you make any progress
Managed to fix everything + install CWM + flash ROM + install google apps. Will make a topic for this phone soon, when I've finished testing everything.
For now, check this one:

Hello Byte_Me,
I've been looking for weeks how to get GApps on my ZTE V965 and tried everything I could, but each time with a different error. Today you made my day to let me know that I'm not the only one with this problem. Since no-one seems to use this device I wasn't able to find any working tutorial to fix Google Apps on this chinese android. I really hope you can tell me soon how you did this, so I can finally move on. Could you please send the link to your topic when you publish it? Thanks in advance and have a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEWYEAR!!!

all info is already in the link you quoted, just not very organized. The topic will take some time, on holidays now.
followed your instructions, now thank god the Google Play works, but the Google search bar and Gmail app are still crashing...
you had similar things ?

sctrach that - just updated the buggy apps through the Google Play.
Woo-hoo!
Nice to hear that, it makes the phone a lot more usable, doesnt it?
Any problems? I am still not satisfied, but I guess it's a work in progress.
Annoyances:
- not recognizing callers, some incompatibilities caused by country prefixes in my address book
- no badge notifications on icons, makes it harder too see missed calls, have to look at status bar
- some other stuff i can't think of now

Tried reading through all the links, still can't get the light to turn green on mtk tools. V 965 is rooted by the Romjd app. Downloaded the rom rated 9.5. Installed the Vcom driver.
Can't load scatter files in sp flash tool..
Quite the noob at this stuff and guidance would be great. I did install ZTE driver when i connected the phone. Was that a mistake?

I never used SP flash tool.
Make sure phone is rooted.
Use MTK tools to install CWM zip package (just follow the instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44660171&postcount=417)
Boot into CWM and install google apps zip package.
I think USB debugging must be switched on in settings.

Ok Thanks, I will try again.
I used SP flash tool because the yellow light never turned green. Which version of MTK Tools did you use?
yo, anybody managed to work with the GPS?
mine acts as if there isn't a GPS antenna at all.

no green light means no root, but rooting is just one click.

Check with engineer mode that actual gps driver is loaded. Some roms don't have that driver such as lewa5 to my knowledge. Attached a pic below

Color doesn't really matter, in you're rooted you should be able to log into the terminal feature in MTKtool. Try it
Help please
Guys whatever i soft or hard bricked my v965. It's stuck on the opening ZTE logo. I can't get into recovery mode to wipe the cache.
The ZTE drivers are not loading i guess cause its not in usb debugging mode. Been at this hours and i'm lost.
Any advice?

Xperia XZ1 701so doesn't recognize SIM nor does Wifi work stuck on startup

Hello everyone.
I have just got this phone brought to me by my little brother. It seems that phone is made for Japanese network (Softbank)
according to him, he downloaded few apps and was using it for few week until recently there was a problem and the phone had some issues. So he took it to repairer and the phone was flashed back to the company default
But now the issue is that the phone doesn't recognize any SIM and also WIFI searching forever without finding any network. I am not able to pass through this initial phone setup configuration to find out what exactly is wrong with the phone
Although phone restart with inserting SIM but soon as it boots to setup it acts like no SIM is inserted and prompt to connect to either network.
I have used Xperia companion with no luck cause the file size taking very long and my internet connection is not stable and failed on many attempts
Downloaded the exact Japanese firmware from Xperifirm and flashed using newflasher but still could not pass the setup due to no connection
I am not able to even skip that network and initial setup like all other android phone because the phone has to be connected to network and there is not step to skip
What could have gone wrong with the phone. Is this a software issue because the phone bricked by that guy accidently did something to software stuff or is it hardware issue? any urgent assistance would be highly appreciated.
I haven't touched the bootloader yet and as far I know it cant be unlocked?
Please help me resolving this issue
usually it happens when flashing the wrong baseband or modem firmware from another japanese firmware e.g. au kddi/docomo firmware, clean flash via newflasher should fix the problem, make sure to download the right firmware for your model (701SO),not au kddi or docomo...
if problem still exist after flash it,try to flash the global firmware (try CE1 firmware),it will convert your device to global variant(but nfc will not work and deep sleep not working)
good luck :good:

Hi and thanks @filandry
I have downloaded the exact copy of firmware as per my model (701so) and I even downloaded the UK customised version today and flashed it. The phone boots to setup but same issue no SIM detection and no wifi activity. I can't even see SIM or WIFI icons on the status bar
I am now thinking of whether if it's possible to somehow find this setup file and delete it in the firmware folder and then flash the firmware to see if it works when it gets to phone.
It will also help me checking the IMEI and other stuff but just wondering if its possible?
I know there maybe still few options to get the phone somehow into desktop but I am kinda newbie into sony phones and i wouldn't mind doing it
Edit; Just forgot the CE1 firmware part. How different is it from UK customised version? You really sure this will make a difference? Cause downloading a big file is a very daunting task for me as I am living in a place where we barely get 512 KB (shared 1:3) download time take a whole day for me.

you can try this via adb (i'm not sure if you can connect via adb since usb debugging not turning on)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-4i/trick-skip-wifi-setup-setup-wizard-t3524419
or...try to boot up in safe mode
you can google it how to enter safe mode

Thanks for replying.
Adb can't be done since it needs usb debugging turned on and for that I need to get to the phone settings.
Safe mode already tried in the past and done it again for this new firmware but same issue
I wish i could flash custom rom so that its start-up settings might be different and no need to be connected
I really need help here if I still have an option
