why does nobody answer my questions? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Nobody answers my questions. Why is that?

Your biggest issue is the device you are using. Almost no one here uses their devices so you will ha e to put in your own work and figure things out.
As I looked at your posts. You will first need to find out of you can unlock your bootloader to even flash anything. Also clock work mod is very old and has not been updated in years.

[Q] Unlocked Bootloader yet?

Hey all,
I'm new to the forums, but have been following for a while while I had the HTC Evo, and now the Photon. Has anyone been able to get an overclock on it yet? I've read a few things about the bootloader not being unlocked, and then something about a custom kernel being needed. Just wondering if anyone has info on that yet. I searched around the forums but didn't come up with anything. if there is, sorry for posting twice. Thanks!
There are a couple of 'unlocked bootloader' threads in the Development forum.
No, there isn't anything yet. Source code was release less than a week ago. I'm sure these devs are working as fast as they can to get us custom kernels and fix the unlock that borks 4g. check the dev section or even hop on IRC.
Cool Thanks Guys. I'll head over there and check it out. And I'm not sure what the IRC is. I've read a blurb about it in one of the other threads I was reading through, but it wasn't very specific as to what it was. Sorry still new here.

[Q] Flashing the P769

So I'd been around the forums and looking here and there trying to collect as much information as possible on going about flashing the ROM on this phone, and I can't help but become baffled by walls of text filled with links to other pages and tons of software to download. It's overwhelming to say the least. I don't remember my last Android phone ever being this much of a pain to get the process done and over with.
I'm sorry if I come off as a very lazy person, but I look at the General forums for this phone and there's like five different guides for like multiple variations of this L9 model. I find it baffling that all these phones share the same space honestly. It makes this all so confusing for me to just figure out what to do and what not to do in all this. What information is reliable and what is outdated.

Sorry you're frustrated. The L9 can be a frustrating device. It however is not a simple device to manipulate. However there is way too much information for me to cover in a single post. You will need to search for more details yourself. XDA pushes using their search feature before making new threads.
Obviously you must root the device and there are several methods around depending on the version of Android on your device. In order to install any ROMs your bootloader will need to be unlocked. That's the tricky part. And that's what most of the threads you are referring to are about. I cannot offer any advice at this time as to what road to take as far as unlocking your bootloader goes.
As for all L9 variants being in one forum I cannot address this. This structure is common throughout XDA. IE; There are almost a dozen variants of the original Optimus One. They are all discussed, managed, etc. within the same subforum. Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 subforum is the same way.
Best of luck in your endeavors.

Thank you for your reply. I guess I will have to further my research in these forums in order to fully understand the workings of this phone. But what you have typed helps me a good deal. My question becomes this, "Am I to root the device first to unlock the bootloader, or unlock the bootloader to root the device?"

Rooting can be, and I believe should be, done before unlocking the bootloader. With root you can at the very least install L9RecoveryInstaller_1.5.0.apk ( 2nd-init bootstrap recovery ) and then flash any of the prerooted CWM backups that are listed throughout the L9 forums. However, your bootloader is still locked. @kuma86 has made a themed stock JB ROM for P769 devices with locked bootloaders that can also be flashed with the recovery mentioned above.

Rooting For The XT830C?

So I have searched on this forum before, and I did find many posts as usual. But the main ones I were looking fro were from 1 or 2 years ago, and the thread had been closed. In those threads, many people have asked for the Moto E XT830C to be rooted, but no one has ever foun a way. So I was just wondering does someone has an answer to all of our problems, or is this phone a lost cause. If it is, then we can all blame Tracfone/StrightTalk
My sister has the same phone from Total Wireless I'm trying to unlock and hopefully put a newer version of Android on using a custom rom so I'm wondering if there's a way to force unlock it as well.

Root for SMG965U?

Has there been any development on root/unlock bootloader exploits for the Verizon (Snapdragon) S9+? Some old threads say "no", but I'm wondering if anything new has developed.
Thanks
No, no, no, no, no. These threads are getting old

current answer is still no, however there has been some chatter about using the Chinese snapdragon bootloader on the regular U devices to access root, but nothing has come to fruition as of yet.

G965U root is highly volatile, and currently only available with Combo. We may have some wait time before anything comes in a somewhat stable PoC

@mods can we please for the love of god sticky a thread or make some kind of anything so that casual people coming in here, or people who are just too lazy to use the search function can have an answer and we don't have to take the time to write a post telling them that no, there is no root, but there is a search button ). Also I totally petition that we auto-delete threads that have this kind of title but aren't the rooting method we have been waiting two years for. If a mod can tell me that they will sticky my post, I will write a very informative post with all the links and all the knowledge and data that is available, along with all models that are rootable. I don't want to waste my time honestly :/

Sure, I could have put "Is there a ..." in the title. I just figured a logical person would notice the obvious nature of the question mark and realize that this post wasn't our coveted solution. If you actually read my question, you can see that I know very well where the search bar is, and that it was utilized. It's unfortunate that you see helping someone as a waste of your time. If you don't want to help, then don't waste the OP's time with your complaining.
So when new models come out, the best thing is to wait till we find out which can be rooted. Makes sense... I jumped on Galaxy 9S+ when it first cam out and have the un-rootable one... should have waited...

Technically, this is the web?.
I don't understand why some people seem to get upset when others make topics asking questions. It's not usually general knowledge for most people.
I can't tell you what a bootloader is but I sure as hell can spend all day complaining about them, lol. Literally everyone I know personally has never heard the term.
I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but what's wrong with people making topics before exhausting every other possibility to find the answer. Nothing wrong with conversation and who knows what random and unexpected things you could learn.
Hey, sorry I'm getting the breaks done on my car at the moment. I'm writing this instead of reading old magazines, lol
Chances are, we won't see this phone rooted anytime soon. especially now that the Stylo 6 has arrived. Locked Bootloaders are not your friend if you root phones. Mostly DEVs now only concentrate on the Flagship phones...
...Follow the $$$$ trail...
I sure miss the good old days...LoL 2013-2017 were my favorite years

I never was upset.
My POV:
It's neither the task of anyone here to re-publish (excerpts of ) articles simply created by "copy & paste", nor to do a related Google search and then list the links found, nor to tell the questioner that he/she is completely wrong that he/she is totally confusing things - the latter may be considered as being rude.
N.B.
Wondering why you didn't assist OP, instead of posting that garbage?

Posting "Garbage" ? Nah....that's good stuff right there. As for helping OP, your right. I was off topic, but really it's no big deal. Xda is not flooded with pointless threads. I know they prevent pointless posts and topics.....but a few never hurt as long as it's Android related.
OP, it's a shame but don't get your hopes up for ever rooting the Stylo 5 (Damn Bootloaders!). There is still adb though. I bet it's not long before that is gone to. You can get rid of bloatware and do some other cool stuff with it. If you need help with getting it running on a PC you can simply search it on Xda, or even pm me.
But for the love of God and all that is Holy!.......Do not make a thread asking about it!?.
I don't even bother using Google when it comes to Android. The good people on Xda are the only ones I know will be helpful and honest.....That and most likely Google would just get me here anyways, lol.
Again, sorry. I don't mean to be a jerk if I sounded like one at anytime in this novel. I didn't intend to write so much when I started, lol it seems to happen a lot though. There ya go some more good stuff.
The End!
Bottom-line answer is...
Hi,
Sadly after several hours' search, GInMF. Yes, I found several "Root your LG Stylo 5" with 25 different methods posts, NONE of which seem to work. I think most of them are thinly disguised ways to get gullible people to part with their money. The problem that I mostly encountered is, somewhere along the line, they just say "install TWRP recovery"...ignoring the fact that this phone model DOES NOT have one on the TWRP device page. So, the specific question, again, becomes: is there any way to root this phone, even if I'm happy with the stock image?. If any of the XDA experts on this thread know of one, PLEASE point me to it. If there isn't one, pls state that so I can put this effort to rest, either way. Thank you!

I remember when the original Atrix dropped first phone with a dual cpre processor. I was a kid in a candy shot holy he'll. The yesrs devs spent on that phone even after th3 other flags came out was astonishing. Miss the clunky ****er.
not only that, but I have tried some of the other websites ... Bricks now I only use XDA for my questions like this... Currently I am shopping for a new phone, I have the Stylo 3 still but it's on its last leg.
It's been a good time but damn it I Was hoping to get a Stylo 7

Technically there is a TWRP image for LG Stylo 5, however it should be noted that it is an unofficial TWRP image and should be done with the utmost delicacy. As to the whole rooting your phone thing, of course you can. Let me be a little more specific on that though. You cannot root an android if it's newer than 6 months (sadly for all you "tech nerds/junkies" you are all wrong when it comes to whether or not you can root certain phones). I know this for a fact. However I can tell you one thing for absolute sureness. I wouldn't waste the time or money trying to root an LG Stylo 5 when you can get cheaper phones (that run Android 11 and higher) at Walmart. And just so everyone knows, there's no need to root a phone with Android 11 and higher because of the fact that you can use LADB to uninstall system applications and bloat ware. But let me warn you as I've come across this myself and done it as well, but there are certain brands like Alcatel that won't allow you to uninstall the bloat ware, but you can still disable it using ADB commands. Lastly, if you get a phone with Android 11 and higher, DO NOT UNINSTALL anything with com.android, com.sec.android, or anything along those lines because it WILL cause the phone to go into a permanent boot loop at which you'll have to factory reset the phone using the recovery mode.
