So like the title says, mi power button is dead, it has no more that tactile feedback and I cant turn on the screen, anyway volume keys are working... is there a way I could turn on my phone in order to get data back from the internal memory? Thanks.
Mmm... take off the back cover and press the button. Also, you can configure the buttons to turn on the screen with volume keys. And maybe, will work again with another back cover

Maybe try plugging it in does it turn on when you charge it? There are apps you can install to tap screen and it will turn on.

matsuyamakaze- The phone is already turned off I cant turn it back to on again, maybe via im able to change the buttons actions via ADB? hope you can help me with this, thanks xd

I'm having the same issue - I've configured my volume keys to wake up the screen as the power button on my phone sometimes works but not all the time - not sure yet to try replacing the back cover or something else...
I also have this Problem, i put some Paper under my case for more responsibility, Works great
My power button is also dead. Among other things. This phone turned into utter crap.

That actually worked for me.Thanks!
That happens when the manufacturer doesn't give us a home button, a fingerprint sendor and no dt2w feature
My power button also died over a couple of months. Factory reset, removed the case, next day I took it back to where I bought it.. technician checked it and showed me it's working fine (!?) It's still working fine a few days later.

It does it with charger too. But ONLY really does it while moving it
I CANT get it to even turn on now, It will viberate and show samsung and then shut off
I can get it into download mode for a sec and it will flash and turn off
The power button got mashed a little too hard.
If its store bought, its a warranty issue.
If its Craigslist or ebay you have to pull the whole thing apart and reseat the silver button in the case correctly and reassemble.
I've come across a few phones that have this defect.

Hey everyone. Thanks for taking the time to read my thread.
So randomly yesterday my phone just turned blank and it started vibrating every 1 minute almost like its trying to boot up but the screen stays black. Its been on the charger and I am not getting any lights to pop up. I tried the 20second 30second and various other seconds of holding the power button but to no avail. I was wondering if anyone has any other solutions to this problem.
No insurance and the screen is cracked so they will not attempt a repair. They wont even touch the phone.
Im S-OFf with the old hboot and running CM10 from Kushdeck
The computer does not see the device either.
Thank you for your time.
I would reflash the ROM, and when you do be sure to clear Google Wallet settings, it sounds to me like you have a bad flash. What ROM are you using? I would go away from cm10 were I you, that ROM requires a different radio, that ROM is touchy, try a sense 4.0 Mean Rom for example, that will do it.

Hi Cables. Thanks for replying.
I have tried the technique you have explained and I am getting nothing.
You could let the battery die, place it on the charger and wait about 5 minutes (led should be blinking when you first plug it in) then try to boot into boot loader

Nothing, if the phone becomes completely unresponsive then you have a brick. Sorry
Just something else to try, but pullout your sdcard and try the power button on volume down for as long as you can hold them. If you sdcard is corrupted it could prevent you from booting.

anyone find a solution for this i have the same problem but my screen is grey, ive tried restarting it like a million times it turns of but as soon as it turns back on it goes to grey screen
power button is stuck
just helped someone with the same symptoms on SG3
Has anyone found a fix for this...? My phone just started doing this very thing, I was playing SNESDroid and the last couple of the days the screen starting wiggin out, a couple of times it just froze and i had to do a hard reboot, this last time yesturday it froze I did a hard reset and it would not turn back on and all my symptoms are the same as the original poster. Only thing I havn't tried is letting the battery die, I just don't know when I would know that it's dead? Anyway any help would be appreciated!
Just yesterday my home button started making a clicking sound. It has been dead silent and now it clicks kinda like a mouse click (not as loud) whenever I press it. If I mash hard on it it will be silent for a few minutes, but then it start clicking again. The Wife's phone is quiet.... both bought same day. Anyone else experience this? It is annoying me as it makes the phone sound cheap, and makes me feel it is going to fail on me based on almost the same scenario with my iPhone 4 that did fail after making a random noise one day.

I would definitely bring it back then. I just don't want to go through the hassle of unrooting and possibly getting an ME7 phone that does not have a working recovery as of yet.

Rooting is not important to me. My phone is a work device and security reasons we can't have a rooted phone (B.S. if you ask me), so I play along nicely and do all my updates and keep it unmodified (except for developer access).

I just called and ordered a replacement. I am not worried about refurbs as a lot of the times they are better than new in my experience in being in the industry for a few years. I pressed the button down and stuck the corner of a business card in and ran it around the circumference of the button with a little bit of the card going up under the case a bit. This seems to have resolved the issues.... but just in case i have an overnight-ed replacement coming tomorrow.
Never mind. It's back. Glad I ordered a replacement now.

Don't worry, there is a fix!! I had this same problem on my S4 and I have horrible OCD so this was not kosher. I found that the cause for the clicking is the button sticking, causing it to click when you press on it. All you need to do is get an electronics cleaning cloth, a business card, and some hand sanitizer. This will save you from having to send the phone in for repair or get a refurbished device.
Put some hand sanitizer on the cleaning cloth. Not too much, just enough to make it damp.
Put the cloth over the business card
Use the combination of the cloth and the card and using a little pressure, stick it between the button and the case and go all the way around the button.
If you didn't fix it the first time around, repeat until you are able to press the button without a click.
Note -- If you are mental, and use too much hand sanitizer you will damage your phone. You just need the cloth to be damp. I use hand sanitizer because it dries extremely fast. I am NOT responsible if you screw up your phone.
Happy cleaning
I have this as well! I thought it was because I went to the beach and got a tiny grain of sand beneath the button but I guess it happens to everyone!

I had the clicking problem on the home button with my Galaxy S4. When I googled for a fix, I found this site. So glad I did because the blowing worked! Thanks for posting!! The clicking was driving me nuts now it's back to normal!

Oh wow this actually worked, i'm impressed. Thanks!!
My clicking started when my toddler splashed some juice onto the screen and it ran around the button. So I Google and found this thread. Looking for a way to clean.

Alcohol is the way to go!
Try this fix, worked for me after 2 months searching for a fix, i sent 1 month ago my S4 to Samsung Sat in Madrid (Spain), they didn't fix anything, just wiped all my data.
This fix worked like a charm!!
Youtube Search for: " [FIX] Galaxy S3/S4/Note II/Note III, Fix Sticky/Clicky "HOME" Button "
I bought a S3 from someone and he said that the phone needs to be re-flashed. when the phone turns on, it boots up fines. blue light at top, Samsung boot sound, the touch works as u can hear the water effects thing to unlock the phone. he claims he tried the LCD in another S3 motherboard and the LCD works, I don't know if he's telling the truth or not. Can a software cause the screen to not turn on. doesn't turn on at all. I flashed a stock rom with ODIN and did factory reset in recovery mode. i can also go in download mode as well. the phone works well, i used the POWER + HOME buttons to take snapshops on the screen to kinda browse through the phone, everything works, WIFI, bluetooth. it's not picking up signal tho. it's saying "Not registered on network" when i try to make a call, but it recognizes my sim card and stuff. anyways I don't know if he indeed went into the phone's root system files and messed something up or not. please help !

Ok. You could try another flash after clean wipe. Back up your efs first. And remember back up is important.

Not sure but you can give it a try. If you not sure don't do it. Wait for other people to react.

OK guys good new . i was messing around a lil bit with the power button and by pressing it for a while before inserting battery and also pressing the power button for a few seconds after inserting, playing around both of those option eventually the screen turned on to samsung galaxy s3 screen then it went blank again. also the menu n back soft keys lighted up and started working again. after removing the battery and reinserting, went back to its original issue. atleast now i know the LCD is indeed working . maybe it is a firmware/software issue after all. please someone help!

you sure ? because when the phone boots up it stays on all the time, it never reboots. or shutdown. i copied some songs over to it and was listening through my headphone for about 30 mins. i start to feel sleepy so i managed to pause it by randomly touch places of the screen till the music stopped. i fell asleep and when i woke up back, i was able to resume the song i was playing. by can a power button cause this ? please help
If the pwr button is stuck, it might restart on itself or not turn on.
