Sorry to say, with the update comes in size of 1.3GB, I'm pretty sure AT&T put restrictions on it like many other new phones recently. Based on my experience with Samsung Galaxy Alpha updates, such restrictions include:
* must have an active AT&T SIM in the phone.
* must be on AT&T network in US.
But unlike Samsung, you can wait for HTC to post the new ROM RUU files on its US site to update manually.

Lost Root
It appears that I have lost root and twrp bootloader, and so far I have not been able to reinstall.

i thought i could get the download w/o a SIM card.... NOT! Anyway, as soon as I swapped SIMs from one M9 to the other, it showed a 1.3gb download happenin..... sweet BTW - I don't use AT&T directly, though my service (CricketWireless) is an AT&T "reseller". The HTC website shows "AT&T/Cricket" for ROM downloads, so I'm not entirely sure of the relationship between the two. I have 100mb broadband cable that I am using and this thing is just a little over 50% after almost 4 hrs.

Cricket wireless is 100% owned by AT&T.

Thank you so much. I kept trying and trying to grab the update with no success until I put the SIM in the phone and finally after changing the dates manually because of it saying 3-4 times there was no update it finally started to update lol. Currently updating now as I type

Anyone grab the zip file? If so. Can you post here? It's huge.

Thanks but I believe I'll pass in the Roms for now. In that scenario any update info?

Indeed 4.1.2 and 1.27.531.7 is what we are stuck with....
Just called T-Mobile and the woman saw nothing about the updates in their system...
She said if you can download the update and apply it from HTC's website that would work, but rooting and using different software would break the warranty.

The rep would not know anything except an update currently in the pipeline, that is, already heading our way. Only someone at Tmo corporate headquarters would know the strategic deployment strategy, and they do not talk. TMO tends to release updates later than other companies.
t-mobile tends to release updates not at all...
a few years ago my smartphone was updated for all carriers except t-mobile. everyone went up an android version while I did not.
who cares how much difference it makes... t-mobile is clearly lazier about updating than other companies and need a push to do so.

Well, for my Amaze 4G, they released the upgrade to ICS after about 5 months. And then very recently they did another upgrade, which would be almost a year later. But that first major update wasn't that late.
The way I look at it, if you're using these forums, you shouldn't have to wait for carrier updates. HTC did announce that an update is in the works.

That's not how updates work. Phones don't get updates based upon their contract status or lack thereof, but instead they get updated by their device ID. (Carrier, region, etc..)

Phones get updated not based whether you bought it on credit or full or contract or w/e but based on region, carrier or if you got the developer edition. Most updates MUST go through the carriers and they must approve of it. Is why the First Galaxy line was slow at getting updated. Thank T-Mobile for that

Stock HTC Rom

Would it be possible to flash a stock (original from HTC - for example the 32gb unlocked rom) on a At&t HTC One without rooting?
My company uses Good Enterprise and it won't work on a rooted phone so I'm debating on getting the At&t HTC One (I'm up for an update and can get it for 199) or just get the unlocked version from HTC?
At&t takes FOREVER with updates and I just don't want to deal with that again (possibly wait 5-6 months before At&t releases 4.2.2)
You probably are better off with the international version if you can afford it

You could unlock the bootloader, flash a recovery such as TWRP, flash the Rom of your choice, and unroot it. Unrooting a Rom is easy.

so this is a link to the stock OEM rom which is not rooted. what do i have to do to replace my at&t rom with this? also in the future, how would i go about installing the updates?
again, at the end of the day, Good Enterprises does a quick check to make sure the phone is not rooted, so no matter what i do, the phone cannot be rooted. if i have to root, flash something which results in the phone going back to non-rooted, that's fine, i just want to understand what's needed before i get started
edit:
can't i flash the stock rom which would have come on the unlocked htc one if i had just gotten that instead?

AFAIK there wont be a option to change as sense 5 overwrites 4+
Using a HTC One X+ with CID__001 and no update yet, but I guess it will roll out in the next couple of days.
Got report from a friend with e HOX that the update messed up the camera (force close), any problems in our case so far?
Will this update be service provider related ? In other words, will it be longer to come out as i am with O2 ? As i presume, they want to add their spam to it.
Thanks

AT&T One X+ 4.2.2 Update Guide with RUU

Update Details: http://www.htc.com/us/software/software-updates/htc-one-x-sense-5-update/
AT&T RUU: https://s.basketbuild.com/filedl/de...5_18.27.11.35L_release_341689_signed_0220.exe
Sense 5 ROMs: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36091570&postcount=1
Q&A
I am on the stock ROM, but my bootloader is unlocked and I am rooted. Can I accept the OTA update?
No, you must relock your bootloader before taking the update. Otherwise, it will do nothing.
Can I accept the OTA update while on a custom ROM like Viper, Elegancia, Blackout, etc?
No, because the OTA checks to see if any files have been tampered with from stock, so your phone will refuse to update. You will have to go back to a stock ROM or flash the RUU to get the update.
Will the Telus One X+ be getting the OTA update?
It looks like Telus isn't getting the update according to this update schedule, which lacks any mention of the X+.
How do I get said update if I am not on the AT&T network?
Your only options at the moment are to flash a custom ROM based on Sense 5 or flash the RUU, as you cannot receive the OTA from AT&T while on another network.
Is there a way to get the update without updating the bootloader?
Yes, flashing a custom ROM based on Sense 5 will give you the update without updating your bootloader.
I tried updating, but it downloaded a 13 MB update and I'm still on Sense 4+. What gives?
The Sense 5 update is a two-part update. The first small update gets the phone ready for the larger and fully Sense 5 update.
But now I have to wait another 24 hours before I can check for updates again! What if I want it NOW?
You can go to Settings > Date and Time and uncheck Automatic Date/Time, then manually set the day ahead by one. This will allow you to check for updates again.
If you still have some unanswered questions or want something clarified leave a reply and I'll see what I can do. :fingers-crossed:
Good to know but I might be moving on to the One.

It could have been a good phone if the development crew behind the OTA updates didn't **** around.
Now everything's been shifted towards newer tech. What a waste, and what I don't get is why were there two different versions of this phone to begin with? I'm sure AT&T is outside the US, and I'm sure the wireless communications are just the same everywhere else. Just plain stupidity in the development chain.

AT&T may also be outside the US, but most international carriers and countries haven't fully taken advantage of LTE as of yet, so that kind of difference is more understandable. Hopefully once the new update comes out development will pick up again. I know I'll be looking into ROM development once the new update releases. :good:

The AT&T version has different radio hardware to the international version. Because of this the devices require different kernels amongst other things. This is why the different roms are not compatible nor will they ever be. This has been explained many times on the forums.

Anyone think that with this update there might be some hope with new ROMs? Or will it not matter

So, the EVO 4G LTE has been confirmed to receive Android 4.3 by the end of the year. I don't know what that means for us, but considering the X+ is almost 6 months newer, there's a very likely chance that we'll receive 4.3 at some point as well!

From AT&T? Doubt it. But like some say: times shows everything.

I think HTC are going to stop supporting older devices even more now. They made a massive quarterly loss this previous quarter. And in fact no smartphone manufacturer that has made this kind of loss has ever survived in one piece. The last two companies to do it was Blackberry and Nokia. Sucks really as HTC are the only smartphones i've ever really liked.
