Flickering screen - Elephone P9000 Questions & Answers

Does anybody have a flickering display?
I like to dim the brightness in the evening almost to the minimum. Then it is quite easy to see some "pumping" (flicker) of the brightness, when I use the phone. It seems to be even more visible, when I turn on the "night owl" app, in order to filter the blue light out of the screen.

Any responses are welcome!

Dimmed screen brightness

Hi guys, is there any option or an app or something to lower the dimmed screen brightness? I like my watch always on, but I find it a bit to bright, especially at night.

Not the OP, but yeah, "1" is pretty bright in a dark room.

well in the setting there's only setting for brithness when the watch's awake and an option to turn always on, which turn the display off.. I'd like it always on but just a bit darker
Try another watchface
Today I use the "Aviation Watch" and the dim mode is not full white but a little yellow and it is darker than other.
I have also the "Less is more" watchface and you can setup the font color for active and dim mode. I setup my dim color to dark grey and it is very dark in dim mode.

it's not about the background brightness of the watchface.. the screen backlit is always on, and I think it's too bright in dimmed mode.. at least at night. This is the only thing why I regret buying this over the samsung gear live as the amoled screen must look gorgeous in dimmed mode when only the numbers are visible.
I agree. Even with always on set to off, my screen lights up every time I get a notification.
Basically anybody near me could read it. I'd rather it just vibrate. And make me double tap to wake.

Using a clock face with the option of dimmed display settings like Pujie Black - Wear Watch Face turn off all dimmed and it's black display completely off, until wrist turns.
Almost all watchfaces from Smartwatch Bureaux have 2 brighness setup for active and dim mode. You can setup dim mode very very dark but backlight is always ON.
I would like an APP that I can set the Screen to OFF from 1 am until 8 am then back to always on. I dislike having to change the settings when I lay down and wake up.
That is the beauty of Android... some smart programer will write some code for an app and I will buy it...

Second Screen dimming

Just got the V10 and the second screen dims after 2 or 3 seconds after turning off the main screen. Is there a way to adjust the timing when the second screen dims? The dimmed second screen is almost unreadable because it is so dim.
Ditto, the idea that this is a replacement for a notification LED is really damaged by the dimming. (It's not just me that bought the phone based on that idea, right?) What I've found so far:
With the screen brightness set to 0, the second screen dims fully a few seconds after sleeping. Icons become about as noticeable as dust reflections.
With the screen brightness set to 100, the second screen follows the ambient light sensor after sleeping. Under bright light it turns itself up to the point where it's useable.
I've been playing with all the LEDs that Light Flow sees, but at least without root, nothing has any effect. I might look through the /sys files later. We probably need to get root first to figure this out.
On auto brightness it seems to be that the device adjusts the dimmed display for the ambient lighting? It's not the easiest thing in the world to see, but it's certainly not hard for me to see what notifications I have. I really prefer this over a colored LED.
Light Flow settings
For what it's worth, here's my current setup, now that the T-Mobile H901 is rooted. This does no one without root any good, and I don't know how it would translate to similar LED managers. I've been using Light Flow since the Sapphire (MyTouch 3G).
Light Flow device settings: check direct mode, root mode, and run every command as root. The Nexus 5 force reset option is checked by default and I don't know if that's relevant (no calls yet). Everything else in the menu is unchecked.
Let Light Flow control lcd-backlight-ex.
In a notification, set that "LED" to Solid and to 255 brightness. Check Enable Mixer and App controlled flash. With that last setting, the app will reset the brightness every few seconds even if the system dimmed it due to an ambient light change.
Now I need to edit some notification icons to be big and colorful. I wonder how this will impact battery life? Now the app is going to be awake all the time.
I've noticed that today on auto brightness the second screen will increase in light but not much. It also is not as smoth of a transition as on main display. It kinda jumps up real quick..
Yes for me I've noticed on Auto brightness the second screen will dim in a dark room and if you turn off your phone while in that room then come out... The second screen is still dim.... It's like th second screen doesn't respond to the light sensors at all unless the main screen is on.

It would have been nice if lg included the capability to change the second screen settings such a brightness or text color.

Another one of many things that it would be cool to see baked into a custom stock rom. Good stuff. I wonder if Cloudyfa might come over and cook on this awhile. I have always loved his stock Roms....

Color would be cool. A classic CRT bright/lime green, for instance, would probably show up much better than the white.
We need to get on their forums with these ideas. Maybe some will get squeezed into an update
An app which turns off auto dim in case screen is off would be pretty much help. Maybe I'll develop one.

Minimum Brightness too bright?

The minimum brightness level on this phone is quite a bit higher than other phones with OLED panels. Is there any way to change this? Using power saving mode with the screen at minimum brightness makes the screen a bit dimmer and so does inactivity so we know the screen definitely has the capability to go darker. Anyone know how we can make the brightness darker?
P.S no screen filter suggestions pls
I use Lux Auto Brightness, screen can go significantly darker

And that would work for me but the only issue is the software buttons at the bottom don't dim with the screen and it's really weird looking. That's why I said no screen filters, please.

It's not a screen filter, what would even make you think that? Plus it does dim the software buttons. Maybe it's because you don't have root?
If you on 7.0, try "Night Mode Enabler" from the PlayStore.
On my Z Play, the Lux app does not dim the buttons either. I don't have root. OTOH I don't recall seeing in the Lux documentation that it uses root for anything?
Also, I'm 90%+ certain that Lux *is* a screen filter. I say that because it differentiates between two ranges of brightness: "above zero" and "below zero". It seems likely that the "below zero" settings (which are necessary to get the display very dim at all) are modifying the display data rather than the system brightness setting. Of course, on an AMOLED screen this should be just as good... except for those darn buttons!!
BTW, all of this "night mode" stuff has, unfortunately, just confused the issue for those of us who need to preserve our night vision while using our phones. "Night mode" has come to mean "make the color temperature redder" because that seems to avoid some of the ill health effects of blue light at night. But it doesn't do squat to preserve night vision---for that you need to get the brightness way, way down. If you're trying to use your phone at the telescope, you're just as screwed as before, only now, the google search terms are more polluted, making it harder to find an actual solution.

Wileyfox Swift 2X - back/home/show all screens - buttons lights

Hi there,
Does anybody know of a way to lower or illuminate the light of the static - back/home/show all screens - buttons? When reading my phone in a dark room, the lights are quite heavy on the eyes.
Kind regards,
Martin
Mine seem to change with the screen brightness. Do you have your ambient display turned on.

Thnx for the reply! It does indeed change simultaneously with the screen brightness, but it will always stay on. I was wondering if maybe the button lights could be turned off completely and only appear when the screen is touched for example. But I'm guessing it's not possible.

[S9+] Auto-Brightness flickers in dark environments

Hello!
Can you guys test the auto-brightness in dark environments?
My screen flickers shortly before the auto-brightness function find the best brightness.
Unfortunately, I can´t make a video, because this is the only phone I have.
The screen don´t flicker everytime, only when the auto-brightness go under 20% and stops shortly before.
Is it a hardware issue, the new update or the software total. I have the S9+ since yesterday.
Do you have the "black crush" issue also?
I just tried it with mine, turning lights on and, off in a room with no windows (so completely dark when the lights are off). I don't notice an flicker on mine. The screen gradually reduces brightness, but seems to settle at the low level without any flicker.
Thanks for the replies.
I don´t have the balck crush problem. I tested it in Netflix.
The only problem is the flickering in auto-brightness mode under 10-20%.
It seems, the S9 Plus want to calibrate the brightness and after a few seconds the backlight don´t fllickers.
I tried to find a video in youtube, I can find 1-2 similar videos but not the exactly problem.
