Was just curious to know, is anyone out there rocking their Note 2 in its birthday suit? If so, any scratches yet? I myself have had a screen protector on since day 1 of owning mine whereas my friends that also have it are all naked. Just curious to know if anyone has any serious scratches of their own.

Naked.
I keep mine from things that have a high mohs rating and I stay scratch free.
Naked white with no problems. I think it's the best way to experience the phone.

I agree 100%
Another area of concern was the use of the S Pen on the screen. If that would over the course of its life span leave any surface scratches as well.

I have had a screen protector from day one but I went weeks without a case. Just put the Samsung protective cover on and it is surprisingly thin and light.

I had mine naked for a few months and did see a few tiny scratches appear so covered up. First with a Copter screen protector which sucked!! It made the screen look like ****e. Small text was impossible to read and the S-Pen marked it. I later opted for a very cheap harder plastic no-name protector which is excellent. I have plans to buy a 10 pack and change every other month or so.
The way I see it you preserve the second-hand value if the screen is scratch free. If in two years time you want to sell it for a good price you just need to invest in a new flip-cover remove the screen protector and it's almost like new.
100% all natural. No screen protector. No case. I like the feel and look without bulky protection. I allow the Gorilla Glass 2 to do its thing.
Afterall, its a phone; its going to get used, scratched and dinged. I want to enjoy the complete phone experience in the meanwhile.
Have you seen those cars that had the bra on the front? People removed them only to find out that their paint was now two-toned, and dirt and debris had etched the paint along the edge of the bra, not to mention having a red sports car with a black mask on.
I was naked on every smart phone I've had up until the Note 2. I've always gotten scratches on every other phone no matter how careful I was.
I also have a small hard case on it. I would love to run naked on that too but the smooth back is just begging to slip out of my hand. Plus the case makes it feel more solid and reduces the creeks and growns coming from the crappy plastic Samsung insists on using.

I would be concerned if a plastic pen scratched glass.
In other words, it won't.
The glass with the oleophobic coating is at least 9 mohs.
Without the coating, its still 6.5-ish.
Plastic is around 3 or 4.
No screen protector here, I adsolutely hate screen protectors. I think they ruin the clarity of the screen. But I do have one of those folio style cases so the screen still gets covered when its not in use.

I've been using the Seidio active case and like it, no screen protector. Just ordered a flygrip and will probably rock it naked with that.
Like others have said I won't use a screen protector as I trust the screen plus hate the feel and affect on clarity.
I'm using a cheap tpu case partly for peace of mind of a little protection and partly because it has a built in kickstand that isn't very intrusive and has been pretty handy to have.
I have mine naked, but the first few days of owning it the phone fell upside down on the wooden floor so now I have 2-3 large scratches on the screen from grains of sand
Same set up I run on every phone I've owned:
Verizon slim hard kickstand case, no belt clip
Cheap eBay matte screen protector
I keep my phone in my pocket so I need a slim case. Every since the T-Bolt, a kickstand is a must for me. I absolutely hate clear screen protectors since it always feels like I'm dragging my finger across the screen rather than sliding it. I ended up buying the $12 pack at Big Red since my phone arrived before my China protectors. The cheap matte ones look great, don't smudge, and make the screen silky smooth.

Screen protector I got from Verizon and an all white Androidified case from Cruzerlite. My hands are a little dry so carrying the phone naked (the phone) is slippery in my hands. The case gives me a nice grip to hold on to the phone.

Oops, sorry for the sideways photo.
My typical progression is: get a new phone. Think "I need to protect this thing" and get a case. Rock case for a week or 2 and then hate the extra bulk. Take off case and love the natural feel of the phone.
I followed suit with this phone. Had the flip case ordered before the phone was out. Got the phone and immediately popped the case on. Rocked it for 2 weeks and took it off.
However, I have actually put the case back on because I found usefulness besides the protection. With the phone's size, the case flap provides more area to maneuver it. It also prevents accidental home button presses when the phone is in my pocket.

I've been using mine Naked for about 2Weeks. No scratches yet. I also hate Screen Protectors. A TPU case would do

Hey guys my friends and I noticed that those of us using Snap-On Hard cases or cases that have the metal bezel exposed at the top and bottom are noticing that the metal bezel around the phone is getting scratches all around, like little hairline scratches. Just wondering, how many others have this issue.

I haven't used any on recent devices because snap-ons and other plastic cases always without fail, scratch and leave scuffs on my devices. I haven't trusted any for that reason, so I make sure all my cases have a TPU material on the inside. There are some great options out there too.
The M7 would scratch easily too I found especially with hard cases. I use a full body armor skin and when I need a case for a little extra protection, I use a soft gel type case that's easy to put on and take off.

Yeah I have a few scratches on the aluminum edge which is not bad but very annoying since you would think adding a case would prevent this from happening.

It's funny this is brought up. I bought the dot view case for my phone and really have no complaints. The funny part is that I was watching a YouTube video on a review of the case the other day. The dude talked about how this particular phone tends to get nicked up on the on edges etc. He then goes on with his demo and brings up the point that the dot view cases doesn't actually snap into place but it still holds the phone well. He didn't understand why the case didn't offer a nice hard snap when putting it on the phone. After reading the thread...I guess it's because of the fear of cosmetic damage. For 50 bucks...I sure hope it wouldn't scratch my phone up.

Case scratched my phone
I bought a Spigen clear back case for my phone, and resulted in scratches a week later. It allowed dirt and stuff to get stuck in there and scratch it up. Angry.
I'm waiting for my Spigen clear case to be delivered! Oh no.

As a rule i always avoid hard cases. On iphones, for instance, the dirt gets in betweeb the phone and a case and inevitably causes hairline scratches as the dirt is trapped. That is, of course , no issue if you clean of your phone often

I actually had the same thing happen to me with a tpu case I bought from Amazon. It must be from dust getting under there or something. It is very frustrating.

Just wanted to make a poll for case and what kind or no case at all. Do you want to eXPERIAnce it in all its glory or are you going to protect it with a tank-like shell or something in between. If possible, post your case/the one you're going to get here.
Currently I use a thin gel case and a polycarbonate back cover from Terrapin that I switch between depending on what I feel like carrying outside. But when I'm at home I use the phone naked, the feel of it without a case is simply fantastic. However I do use tempered glass on the front and some generic plastic on the back
Naked. The phone is too beautiful to hide.
Nillikin Tempered Glass on the front and normal plastic screen protector on the back.
That and some good phone insurance is enough for me
Naked as well

I'm personally going naked but I'm buying a case for when I travel. I trust myself not to drop my phone since I'll have a lanyard but when I travel, there's no guarantee that something might happen so I'm getting a case for times like that.
I have purchased a Casemate barely there case and a Nillkin tempered glass screen protector. Delivery is this afternoon and I'll chuck them on this evening.
The phone is beautiful but it's a slippery bugger. I've never used a screen protector on any of my other phones but I'd like to keep this pristine for as long as I can despite a case taken some of its premium feel away.
I prefer naked myself when using a premium quality phone. I don't really see the point of putting plastic to cover up a phone like this.
I think the best of both worlds is to buy a leather pouch type case to put it in when your not using it and take it out when you are.
Had the same idea as many; naked all the way, until I dropped it.
Now it's gel case, chipped corners and a whole lot of crying in the fetal position.
I have the official SCR10 and it is so beautiful. It's like looking at a hot girl, way hotter when they wear bikini/underwear.
Naked with front and back screen protector.
With this pouch

I've just received the same case and . . . . .
it is more slippy than the naked phone!!
Does the white one really stain?
There has been a lot of talk here on the Internet.

Is it the Clear or the Black case?.
I have the Black personally and find it okay. Better than it naked but I'd much prefer no case in an ideal world.
It is the white one. I wanted the white phone but EE only had the black and I thought that the white case would make up for it. Sadly it doesn't!
It is a nice case with a snug fit, but very slippery. My daughter even advised me to remove the case before I went to the pub as it was too slippery!.
I've ordered a 'rubberised' one from Amazon that should be here soon - I'lll report back when I've tried it
Nuddddde
It's either go with a TPU transparent back cover or use a leather sleeve pouch cover to enjoy a little bit of freedom. If you're not using at all you will really regret it if something happens to it!!!
I use a nillkin tempered glass with the Aixuan ultrathin case from ebay. Has the magnetic port open and fits in the sony charging dock.
I ordered the white, changed it last minute from the black.
Let's hope there is no staining issues.

Which colour did you get?

Been using this for almost 2 weeks now. No screen protectors or casing because I still have to order mine from ebay. I am very disappointed because the screen easily scratched. I place this tab on my bag and I was disappointed with this. How's your screen? Are you using protectors or tempered glass?

I put small felt pads around the screen, such that if I drop the tablet (or otherwise put it down screen-side down), the screen should never come into contact with a level surface. I hate using cases and screen protectors.
Anyways, I am going on about two weeks, have no scratches. It does not seem easy to scratch the screen, but I haven't really put it to any tests.
Great for you but im not so lucky. Got a very tiny scratch. Not really visible though unless you intend to search for it. And still it's hard to spot. It's the OC in me that disturbs me. It's the same with what happened on my z3 dual

The only thing i hate about my nexus is how easy it marks if i take my nexus 6p out my pocket for example and it has any contact with anything like a zip for example, 9/10 i have a new mark on the edges its impossible to avoid unless you have a case which is annoying because i do not like cases, if you are still waiting to get a nexus get another colour i recommend aluminum as these marks on the edges are not noticeable
my graphite did fine out of a case for 2 weeks... not a scratch. laid it on tables, pockets, whatever...
Have had mine since 10/28. No case, no dings or marks.
Had my graphite since launch with no case and there are a couple minor marks on the edges.
It definitely marks easily.
That said, I also had the aluminum and I definitely like the graphite better, looks so much more impressive. I'm hoping that the marks over time will just give it a weathered quality look, rather than just look bad.
Aluminum master race #aluminati
If you like to rock your phone naked like me I suggest getting a skin that covers all around the phone. Dbrand and Skinomi are fairly inexpensive and offer full body protection.
Somebody recently posted that the "Aluminium" is the default version and everything else is basically a coating.
No marks on mine yet. Knock on wood.

Mine just arrived yesterday. I've kept the verus case on it just in case. I was really scared about the glass shattering more than scratches on the phone itself.

For anyone worried about getting marks on the chamfered edges, you might as well accept it's going to collect fine scratches over time. I take care of my devices, but every device I've owned with a polished chamfered edge has collected scratches. It'll happen whether it's in a case or not. I wouldn't be surprised if that's why Apple and Samsung have both moved away from that type of design. It got so bad on my old Note 4 that I ended up buying BlueMagic metal polish and polishing the edges so I could list it as "mint condition". Looked as good as new afterwards. Polished chamfered edges look nice, but that's about it.
I've had my Nexus aluminium for almost 2 months and keep it naked in a leather sleeve. Hasn't marked at all in that time.
Had my graphite since pre order launch and it fine no marks but I've still got my iphone5 and that's not marked..but I to have ordered the copper look skin from dbrand just cos it looks great..

I own an aluminum one. I wouldn't buy graphite beciase its the same ish as the iPhone 5 slate color. That beveled edgr will look like crap in no time. I love the color, but I go nude so I can't afford the easily marked up phones.
I just ordered 64 gb aluminum for this exact reason. Really like the graphite color the best of the three but have heard that its a scratch magnet. So pumped for the upgrade!

Don't be fooled by trolls or samsung fcktards
Mine still looks fresh and never had any spontaneous cracks and I am pretty rough than the average person
If you're really stressing over the scratches, you can try this guys method:

had my graphite for a month. looks brand new still.
My graphite version is also flawless. I use a case with it though
