Hello everybody,
i have a problem with fingerprint and double tap to wake.
i get the problem with stock rom and custom rom (eragon 1.5 now).
i lock my P9000 via button on the right side.
directly after that i can unlock my phone via fingerprint and i can wake up via double tap.
after about 5 mins the fingerprint sensor no longer responds if i put my finger on it.
double tap to wake works only at second or third time.
so i have to unlock my phone via button and pincode -> lock via button on right side -> now i can use fingerprint and double tap to wake.
after 5 min same problem.
does anybody have the same problem? is there a special deep sleep mode or something like that?
Thanks in advance!
(sorry for bad english)
okay double tap to wake works. just need 2-4 seconds to wake up.
but i still have the problem with fingerprint
Yeah I have noticed mine does the same., after 5 mins or thereafter it's just doesn't seem to respond to fingerprint (which is still temperamental anyway) and double tap takes maybe 3-4 times
These are both hit and miss on mine too, shame for a mid range device its pretty close.

yep. if you change it to enforcing it should work (delete/etc/init.d/07permissive script) setenforce0

dont know where "setenforce0" option @ stock rom is.
with eragon 1.5 i renamed 07permissive script (sets setenforce 0) in 07permissive_old and it works very well for me.
now im very happy with my p9000

I am using the 'double-tap to wake' functionality and I like it very much. But when a message from WhatsApp is waiting for me, double-tapping the screen does not wake up the phone. I need to use the Power button.
I am using the latest firmware (17.1.2.A.0.314), rooted with locked bootloader. I am using Xposed w/GravityBox and Greenify.
Can someone confirm?
I am not using whattsap but i can say the double tap is somehow weird on this fw
So far the experience for me is always hit and miss. If the phone is deep sleep (meaning it wasn't used for a while) then most of the time I have to use power button to wake it up.
Yes exactly, and i think it was working better on the. 402 fw

For me it's almost the same behaviour throughout any firmwares.
Yep, same here on 402...
Is there any way to make the fingerprint scanner with the screen off ?? I know in iphones they have a mod in cydia to do it.... Is it possible to get the same thing here ?

Why on earth would you want that ?
And if it's possible, I guess it will drain your battery faster...

As said, if it would be possible...the battery will drain a lot faster as the screen will always be active/the system will perform wakelocks all the time.
But it's a good idea

That's what was generally said about double tap to wake, yet the phones that have this implemented, don't have drastically increased battery consumption because of it.
On the other hand, Samsungs half second delay after pressing home button, to wake after deep sleep (formerly just a "feature" of exynos devices, now with snapdragons as well) , is extremely annoying.
Don't see how would the screen always be active? Rather, the fingerprint sensor would be.

I don't believe battery drain would be an issue, but how would you keep the phone in a state to be read?
With double tap to wake and swipe to wake surely the waiting for action state is already developed.
Other possibility could be pressing the home button and sweeping the fi gerprint scanner at the same time to unlock in one motion.

if the screen is off the fingerprint won't unlock and turn the screen off at the moment...... you have to press the home key wait for screen to turn on then swipe

I know. I talk about press (so the screen turns on) AND sweeping the finger at the same time.. This is working for me. I have to do a longer sweepe though.. And i have used all 3 finger setting to the same finger, probably a bit different portion of the finger every time..
Try it.. It works for me. Always unlock with one sweeping and pressing at the same time..
The disadvantage, i can unlock only with one finger.
The problem for me is that i have the home button to wake switched off using wanam exposed module. The phone was active in pocket way too many times.

New to all this, and was wondering if there is a way to use something else to wake and put to sleep instead of power button. Looking for help!!! Can someone walk me thru what to do?
If the phone is on and charged you can plug it in to wake the screen and set the screen time out to something like 30 seconds to have it turn off. There is no tap to wake on this device so that maybe your only option.
Tenounce
Thank u for the answer, but cant always be charging. So is there any way to swipe to wake?

No. There is no form of "touch" to wake on the one max. No kernel support for that function. Don't necessarily need to leave it charging just plug in and unplug for the screen to come on

I use this app, a wave over the proximity sensor wakes up the phone and I have it set to go to sleep when I set it down on a flat surface. I also use screen off app when there's no flat surface

if you are willing to root your device, then you can install xposed framework and explore all the wonderful modules that work under the framework. then install the sense 6 toolkit module and enable the "wake with volume buttons" and map double tap on lockscreen and double tap on home and double tap on status bar to "screen off"... done!

Hello,
I want to buy this phone, and I was wondering if you can tap into the screen to wake the phone.
I have no problem to root the phone and to download custom rom if it has the feature.

nope, it doesn't have tap to wake
The fingerprint scanner is an always on one, so when you are holding the phone you just need to touch it to unlock the phone. The only time that dttw would be nice is when the phone is flat on a desk.
lol! use the fp scanner to wake the phone? works once or twice in every hundred attempts
Thanks for the replies.
I spend many hours working at a desk , so the FP sensor will be annoying to use all the time.
From what I have also read on this forum , the FP sensor doesn't always working. Despite how simple this problem, I think this may be a deal breaker for me.
Maybe you can get this functionality with xposed.
You can find a lot of videos in YouTube with double tap to wake and double tap to sleep.

Hi Everyone,
Why Huawei didn't activate this function to their high end phone. THIS IS VERY USEFUL.
Anyone, manage to activate this on their rooted mate 10 pro?
Think you posted in the wrong section, only way is to install nova launcher as it works with this

No, nova launcher has no double tap to wake. It has only double tap to sleep. I think you are wrong. If there is, pls guide me and appreciate it much.

Some weeks ago someone hinted at some code in the firmware which was supposed to handle double tap to wake. But there's no confirmation anywhere that Huawei will ever enable or further develop that code, just assumptions.
in Mate 8 forum there is a thread about enabling double tap to wake through some modifications on build prop.
That requires Root but I have no idea if that procedure could be implemented on mate 10

It's probably because of the screen technoligy that's being used.
I thought I'd miss the double tap to wake after coming from a oneplus one but the fingerprint sensor on this phone is so good I haven't looked back, one press and it's unlocked

Yes, the sensor is good, but kind of difficult to access while phone is mounted in a car - double tap to wake would be nice then, I miss it from my OnePlus X.
hello to all.... is possible that even in march update official, for huawei mate pro, is not present double tap to wake? other alternatives drain many battery... i hope a solution in last 4 monthes in this post
my solution
Hello,
As a former LG G2 user I've quickly begun to miss the double tap to wake/sleep | knockon/off function with my Huawei Mate 10 Pro. So after lots of investigations and app trials here's my solution which seems to perform pretty well in my opinion.
After trying many apps I've encountered the so called 'Always on AMOLED | Edge lighting'.
Here's my setup on the mate 10 pro (emui 8.0.0, android 8.0.0, build 8.0.0.157 C432) first:
1) Disable smart cover
2) Disable pick to wake
3) Disable pulse light (it won't work and we'll use app's notification handling which is great in my opinion)
4) Disable always on display information
5) After installing the app (VERY IMPORTANT!):
- Go to ignore battery optimisation in android's settings and add this app to the Allowed list
- Go to battery / launch - then Manage manually the amoled app:
* set to on - auto launch
* set to on - secondary launch
* set to on - run in background
To quickly find the upper settings use the search bar in the settings menu.
Then in the app (v. 2.1.7 tested):
1) I've made a fully black background instead of a clock - upto your flavor
2) Enable the POCKET MODE! This actually saves battery a lot since if proximity sensor is covered the screen is completely shut down. When you sleep/want to save battery place the phone with face down - sounds as no problem to me..
3) Brightness is set to 10 or so - again upto you, the less the better for the battery
For double tap to lock I use a widget placed all over the screens where there are no icons - sounds annoying but once settled it works flawlessly. Here's the widget I use - DTS widget Skynet Software.
To be honest I've found it from this forum.
Share your experience as I might have missed something.
P.S Somehow the power button won't lock the screen now but I don't use it at all anyway, so no problem to me..
P.S.2 I would have bought another LG phone if only they have kept the IR Blaster but that's another story..

Same, I only like double-tap to wake on my phones without fingerprint sensors. On my mate 10 and Xiaomis, whether front or back, I am prone to using the fingerprint sensors, and they bypass the lock screen too.
Of course, it's a nice feature to have that doesn't drain battery, all my phones, except Huawei, have dt2w.
