Hey i was wondering if Snapdragon's new soc's SD 650 and 617(moto g4) can play or support the hevc format
bcoz i know that many soc even 801 can't able to play that but it was rumered that next gen soc will support does it support
Now that's a good question, if you dont have thé device i could try for you, link me a hevc encoded video
yeah i try it with MX player , first it's using SW mode but i change it to HW mode and it's played very good without any error or lag in the video.
but sadly it can't decode hevc main10 (10bit) videos in hardware. i thought it were possible maybe because of adreno 500 gpu series, but no. Tested with mx player, vlc, kodi, built-in miui player.
yes, the phone can play 8-bit hevc in HW decoding but videos encoded in 10-bit will play with SW decoding, actually there is no hardware decoder for 10-bit hevc on any phone or TV.
RN3 plays 4k hevc without any stutter but even 1080p 10-bit or 720p with higher bitrates suck the life out of it
Try setting all cores at its max, it may increase the performance at the cost of heat and lesser battery life

that's not true, sorry... there are some soc's with HEVC 10bit HW decoder in TV's, TV stations and phones:
Nvidia Tegra X1,
Amlogic S905,
Rockchip RK3229/RK3399 and
maybe Qualcomm Snapdragon 82X series (but i don't think so)

Hi guys,
I have a doubt regarding the video playback of our galaxies... I'm checking the MHL output, and I have a couple of questions.
The TV reports 1080i, although I'd like to choose 720p, if that's a possibility. In the end the TV's native resolution is 720p.
Also, I'm afraid the video quality, although nice, isn't really hidef. I feel the video is downscaled to the resolution of the phone's screen (800x480), then upscaled to 1920x1080 for the MHL output (and then downscaled again by the TV to 720p). I'll have to say, the result isn't bad, but far from good. Do you know any way to play a video either at 1080p or 720p? Is there a way to choose the MHL resolution?
Thank you!
I've read that the RAZR performs exceptionally when streaming movies from your device to your HDTV, but I get around 20 FPS on regular Xvid movies. FPS are much worse with 720p streaming. Have anyone else tried it, to see if they get low FPS? I'd like to know if I've just screwed up my device somehow.
i'v tried now shooting 10 sec video @4K both formats
at H.264 the size is almost doubled (60MB)
H.265 the size is (34MB)
besides size i didnt see clear diffrents (maybe better support on another devices?)
what are you using
p.s i prefer @60 fps FHD then @30 FHD there you can see clear diffrents
Just look it wikipedia : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Efficiency_Video_Coding
High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC), also known as H.265 and MPEG-H Part 2, is a video compression standard, one of several potential successors to the widely used AVC (H.264 or MPEG-4 Part 10). In comparison to AVC, HEVC offers about double the data compression ratio at the same level of video quality, or substantially improved video quality at the same bit rate. It supports resolutions up to 8192×4320, including 8K UHD.

Thanks, after a bit more try attempts, i figrued out that sometimes post prosses abit better on 265(sharper corners , BUT make the phone hot faster, also use 90% CPU on my computer(i7)
so ill use it when i see my phone running out of storage if i dont have computer near by to backup my data
How did you use it? Can you suggest some good apps?

You can use it in the Sony camera application, just choose 4k video and press on the menusymbol in the upper left corner. The first entry let you choose if you want to take videos with H.264 or H.265.
Your friends are never going to believe what you did. The only way to prove it to them is with that video you took. Rate this thread to express how videos shot on the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 come out. A higher rating indicates that videos are smooth (and not choppy) and that auto-focus works very well, and that the camera adjusts quickly to different lighting conditions while recording.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Hello,
what format of video recording do you prefer ? UHD 60FPS are cool, but video has no stabilization and videos are too big.
Is it chance in future there will be QHD (2K) with 60FPS ? Not only 30FPS

Most likely it can be achieved via root and custom ROM on the exynos. The exynos 9810 have higher capabilities regarding that part compared to the sd845 so it can achieve higher FPS, but samsung can't release it officially as it will make the two variants different. The exynos note 8 for example has already unlock for 4к@60fps while stock is up to [email protected], all because the snapdragon 835 doesn't support 60fps on that resolution while the exynos does. Same is for our phone, the exynos has better capabilities in encoding video.
And:
what type of video recording do you prefer ? and why ? thanks
30 fps on android has better details, dont need to use 4k60 unless you pan a lot or shoot sports, zoom is also mediocre on 60fps
Hi! Coming from OP6 which have SD845 SoC and its capable of recording up to 1minute of 720p 480fps video, resulting in 16min playback video at 30fps. I wonder if my S9+ can do the same if it have also the SD845 and better camera sensor, 240fps mode its ok but the 960 and 480 modes are too short! According to the SD845 specs it support up to 480fps recording (as far as i know 960fps its possible on the s9 because the camera sensor has a dram cache that makes it possible).
There's a way to extend the 480fps mode to at least 30sec or 1min ? Thanks
