TechPad Xtab i700 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i recently moved to Mexico and bought the cheapest Tablet i could find..
not knowing the difference ..
now i know why the brand names are more expensive..
it is nearly impossible to find anything for TechPad.
they don't even have a website.
Any how.. this tablet came with Android 4.4.2 ..
im trying to update this via Online..
im connected via WiFi and all my apps can connect .. no problems.
However, the "Online Update" cannot connect with "The network no connect" error.
(default language was Spanish.. this is probably why it's poorly formed English)
Anyone know how to force Online Update to use WiFi?
FYI: i downloaded 2 .zip files for Android 4.4.4 update.. and did a sideload update but both came back as "Signature Failed".
im assuming those images are not compatible with my device?
UPDATE:
after researching all day yesterday.. i believe TechPad is the company name..
XPad is the Tablet name.
ie. i saw another XPad by a different company.
i knew this to be same as mine because of the specs:
Intel Atom Z2520 Dual Core @ 1.20 GHz.
Android 4.4.2

does anyone know how to root this Tablet?
i've been trying everything since yesterday and none have worked.
i'll even try a ROM if anyone has a compatible one.

no one can lead me in the right direction? i've tried everything i could find off the Internet and nothing.

Im looking stock firmware for this tablet ... can you please help me to find it?
About the root I did it whit frammaroot

Overmax OV-TB-09B 10" tablet

Hi everybody! I am looking for helping answers related to my newly purchased 10" internet tablet Overmax OV-TB-09B with 1.2 GHZ Cortex CPU running Android ICS 4.03.
The tablet is great, but it doesn't offer 3G and Bluetooth conectivity by itself. Therefore I am looking for a suitable compatible 3G USB modem, as well as a Bluetooth USB dongle with the associate ddrivers.
Therefore please can someone give me some recommendations? Thank you!

how is it? your tablet? i think the response for your problem is... you can buy a new phone with android os and you can turn tethering option on your phone and then your tablet see your phone as a hotspot wifi. Btw i saw that you are from Bucharest, im from Timisoara.

Thank you ozambaretzo, glad to hear that you are from Timisoara, very nice city with very nice people over there!
There is another more convenient work around consisting in using a 3G wifi modem (hot spot), I have tested it and it works. But I was looking for a true 3G USB modem that I find more conveneint for me.
Coming back to my initial question, I think I know now the right answer for it: it is not easily possible to use a 3G usb modem or usb buetooth dongle as long as the corresponding Android drivers are not incorporated in the kernel by the manufacturer.
Even more, in case somebody would like to cook its own ROM, the respective Android drivers are not available on the market at all.
Anyway, I am not at all familiar with Android, but I think I recall that I have installed printer drivers in Linux, I expect this to be similar in Android.
Why is it not possible to run an apk that is installing a driver in the OS as long as the tablet is rooted?
Could somebody please explain in general terms this problem with Android? Thank you!

Indeed no idea on how to find the original manufacturer...
The tablet is sold on the market already rooted, you should run Root Checker Basic (freeware) on it and see if it becomes green....Superuser got installed all right on my tablet.

Hi fecooo! Very interesting this Overmax of yours with JB!!! Are you sure that it is the same model as in this thread, i.e. OV-TB-09B? I got mine with ICS 4.03 and so it was probably the whole imported batch. In which country did you buy this Overmax OV-TB-09B? Definitely I would be interested in getting the stock JB image that is loaded on your tablet! Any link you know available somewhere please?
Could you please post a picture of the screen showing your OS and kernel version? Or PM it to me, please.

Never heared of this "zhuodashi" program, it would be great to post a relevant link to it. Of course I can also google for it or do a search on this forum, but you know best what you are talking about.
Did this program also open-up your bootloader, any idea about that?
In my case, although the tablet was routed, the bootloader was blocked. In your case if the tablet was not rooted, than probably the bootloader is open, allowing you to install another ROM image, stock or customized, as you please.
Looking forward for your answers and then I will ask you about modems.

zhuodashi is only in chinese language, the only word what i can read, root (in english)
this program installs on your phone 2 apps, maybe spy, but i don't know... i only know that this method rooted my tab!
i don't know, how can i see if my tablet has open or locked BL.
i have a globetrotter hsxpa 3g modem (t-mobile, old...) and no luck, didnt recognised... (so i'm afraid i can't help you about modems...)
ZhuoDaShi-2.2.9-setup
this version, what I downloaded...
i don't know all abilities of the app, but really useful can be with a well-known (LG,samsung, etc...) android device! (custom roms, etc...)
stock image of this rom can be dl-ed from overmax.pl (but be careful, i don't know the difference between the two versions... except the accumulator, my tab has 4000mA)

Great, thank you for the answer.
For making almpst any modem run on the tablet you need to install PPP Widget application from the Google play market, but I have no idea if it runs with JB4.1. It does OK on the ICS4.03.
On your picture it looks like (I can't read it well on that picture) your model of Overmax is OV-TB-09C, correct? Does it have a rear video camera? I know from a Romanian forum that somebody has installed this C-model software on a B-model tablet and the rear camera doens't work, but the rest is OK.
On the B-model the battery is claimed to be of 6000mAh, but I don't know if this is true.
The B-model has no Bluetooth, how about your C-model?

After connecting the modem, give him like 20-30 sec to be recognized, then click in the middle of the ppp widget icon and a drop down window will open where you have to see the name of your modem and select it. Then you need to click on the Configure button just below the ppp widget icon and a specific confiration window will open up. Fill in the specific APN info of your provider, but take care where it says Access Point Name on the first line write the APN info (eg internet.vodafone.ro) and not the conventional name of the APN (e.g. Vodafone).
Good luck with it!
Please let us know the news on your progress!

About identifying the original manufacturer, I recall that I have once installed a while ago the wifi application called WiFi Key Recovery (free on the Google play), which was showing on the top line the type of my tablet:
Device: crane_a1002jhakai crane-a1002jhakai
Unfortunately, still I wasn't able to identify the true Chinese manufacturer.
You might want to try this on your tablet and share with us your findings.....

Hi fecooo, any progress in your endeavour to identify the original manufacturer?
I have been flashing the C-model software on my B-tablet and it's installing JB4.1.1. Unfortunately there are some differences: the rear camera is not working (wrong driver?) showing just stripes all over the picture, the task manager is missing completely and most of all the tablet is not rooted any more. Not that I couldn't root it thanks to your tip with zhuodashi, but I've reverted back to the original ICS 4.03, it's not that bad.
I am looking forward for a new release of Overmax, but in the past week they have removed any download from their website, I guess that they are preparing new software for upload. We'll see what will be coming up......Maybe also a hint towards the original manufacturer.....

hi!
sorry for the late answer :S
i give up, i cant identify :S
yes, i saw that they removed the updates, and uploaded some "new" versions... (these are the same from 18.12.2012 -.-' )
now i use JB with stable options, the only problem what i wanted to solve, the incompatibility in play store, but still no success
I tried "Allwinner mod" from play store, this change build.prop but i still can't install a single angry birds from store... annoying that we need to download almost everything from external source...
Have you tried to change build.prop to see more apps in play store?

Hi fecooo, soryy for my delay in answering you, I do not visit this site frequently.
As for my Overmax, it is running ICS 4.0.3, therefore I did not meet the problems that you are facing. But I did not know either about build.prop, so I will try to look into it one of these days...
Sorry for not being of much help.....

[Q] E-ceros revolution clone (RK3188) need working firmware

Good day!
I wounder if anybody can help me here...
Few weeks ago I got a 9.7 inch tablet what is looks like E-ceros revolution tablet but not real one... (China copy without any description on the back lid).
It was very laggy so I decided to write tweaked rooted firmware for E-ceros revolution tablet. All specs where the same:
RK3188 CPU 1,6GHZ; Mali 400 GPU; 9.7 inch... All details(book photos and other) attached...
After I flashed the firmware("Ceros Revolution CT9716 Android 4.4.2 KitKat custom root firmware" or after failure the Q9white_update_FT5406_20130806.img) using RKAndoidtool 1.7. I figured out that forgot to make the backup of entire device, when tablet rebooted I see black screen(with back light) and computer show as usb device connected... But no image on screen...
Complete disaster it is a new tablet, never used and bricked...
I found that after firmware flash using adb shell I get root mode but not for long(for about 2 min., later tablet getting disconnected by it self) and after reboot no more root mode... Need reflash again...
In root mode I succeeded to get some logs(adb dmesg) and data about the tablet. (see .txt file attached)
Can anyone help me in such situation? I can donate some money if succeeded...
P.S: To make sure that it is rk3188 device I opened tablet and checked the chip on board...

Hi,
I have a firmware for a tablet like yours (i dont know if its a Revolution clone - Memup Elite 9716). Maybe you will be able to try the firmware at least.
I can't upload it now, but I'll probably tomorrow.

Dull ! I forgot about this post I made ... Sorry
My tablet is a Memup brand:
http://www.cdiscount.com/informatiq...9716-quad-core/f-10798010212-spelite9716.html
I flashed a "OMA" ROM on it (4.4.2 I think), and I have the original rom at home and I guess I can (slowly!) upload it on a server.
Is it the same as yours ? - no money needed, lol . But if I can help you recover this tablet it would be great.
Maybe you could try this ROM, the one I flashed:
https://www.dealabs.com/url/?e=AGfyxEyWcavcqyVJeRhZp7d5F8Z0KrLcgoS1mbga6vPZ1aLCP38R53nhHk/SlqhM
A procedure is included in English, in this file. I followed those and it's working.
I think that your tablet isn't bricked, as it's detected by your computer.
Some steps requires bootloader mode : https://download.chinavasion.com/download/Others/ceros_rev_firmware_install_9470.pdf

It doesnt have the be exact for the tab not the stock rom,or the the original firmware.Just one that will work with it.I already tried a trimeo tab firmware but it didnt work.I tried a another A33 firmware but no sucess.OK so heres how I bricked my tablet.I used some app called kingroot not kingoroot to root. Then I used rom toolbox apps not rom manager. Then I downloaded this file

I then extracted it then went to rom toolbox app clicked on flash, recovery then I pressed Flash. It said success. So I went back to my
launcher,clciked settings,Backup and Reset
Clicked on boot into recovery it said Shutting Down then it restarted. And it looked like this
And it just stays there forever.I went on the irulu website but counldnt find the firmware.I emailed them they couldnt help.
I tried tons of diffrent andriod fourms and sites.Still nothing.I heard that i could get the firmware by opening up the tablet
and getting the board id but i scared i might break or crack it.Its a 16gb tablet with 400-500 mb ram.I cant connect it to my pc
because its not showing up in device manager. Please if you have any kind of firmware that will work for this device please post it here.I cant find any firmware anywhere.I really need this tab back because Its fast and has good storage. It has andriod 4.4.2 kitkat on it.Brand new.So if you have any firmware please post it here.Thank you very much
