Wanting to use my phone USB tethering as a fail over - Verizon LG G3

Hello Everyone,
I have my phone rooted on 47A with mobile hotspot / tethering working.
My question is has anyone found a device that goes from micro USB port on the phone to a Ethernet port and wired from the Ethernet port to a switch or router? or better yet it also has the ability to charge the phone at the same time?
What I want to do is, if my main ISP for my house goes down. I want have a Dual WAN router fail over to a connection where I plug my phone in with USB tethering and get the house internet up and running as temporary fix. I know there as Wi-Fi devices out there that will work in client mode off my phones Wi-Fi but I want to be able to hard wire everything for the best speed possible.
Thank you

I found something in the link below from HP. Not sure if it will work to charge my phone, but its the idea.

Hi!
I don't have much to suggest in this area. I do know that USB->ethernet adapters exist, and you could physically hook one up through a USB OTG adapter. I don't think it would work that simply, but who knows. I definitely doubt such a setup would charge your device.
The adapter you found sounds promising for both working and charging, since it specifically mentions Android.
Charge it up.
Use the integrated micro USB port to connect your tablet’s AC adapter and charge your tablet while you work.[1]

What do you mean by you can't get it to work? You don't have video, USB or Ethernet? Or is it all of the above?
USB and HDMI work for me on Vegan 5.1.1. I have yet to try ethernet, as I just got around to loading pershoot's latest kernel. I hear it works though.
I am running the Vegan-GingerEdition [4/11].

Not to insult you, I recommend keeping the screen on, or turning off the screen timeout. USB Debugging should be on as well.
I am also having problems getting the Malata Zpad dock to work for me. I am using TnT Lite v4.4.0. I am not planning on using the HDMI connector, but would like to connect to the internet through the ethernet port and would also liike to use the USB port. When I connect an ethernet cable, the green light by the port comes on and the yellow light blinks, however, I do not see how to have the gTablet use the ethernet port. Under "Wireless and newtworks". there are no options for a network connection -- there is only Wi-Fi -- for turning on and off, Wi-Fi Connections for setting up Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings and turning on and off. How do you force the gTablet to use the ethernet port? I am able to see a Thumb drive when I plug it into the USB port on the dock through the iFileManager application. However, the USB drive does not show up as "Storage" -- this item only shows "Tablet Storage" and "SD Card" but they may be the way it is supposed to work. Any help with getting the Ethernet port to work would be appreciated.
Thanks
I was just about ready to pull the trigger on purchasing a dock. This info is great.

[Q] USB Ethernet Adapter? Can it work on the tab?

Now that we have our usb adaptor up and running,
does anyone think a usb to ethernet adaptor would work?
I'm going on a trip recently and it would be awesome if the tab could hook up to the internet access in the motel room ( they dont offer wireless)
These usb-ethernet adaptors only cost $20 so it would make the already useful tab even more worth its price!
Simple answer, no. It doesn't work like that

I don't think the drivers will be available, I'm fairly certain you'll be able to pick up a portable wireless access point for around the same price which you could plug into the Ethernet at the hotel.
R
maybe, if some one can put the driver in to tab ;p
Drivers shouldn't be a problem.
Init scripts, DHCP, etc could be - the userland stack probably has no concept of wired Ethernet connections.
I don't have a portable USB Ethernet adapter so couldn't really look into this. Easier to just get a small AP.
What about for places that don't allow any wireless AP? I am deployed, and all I have is my xoom, no laptop, nothing else -- went to area that did have wireless for the first bit and had zero problems. We just moved to an area that does not allow wireless of any kind (i.e., Airport Express wireless AP router, etc), mainly for security reasons. So I don't have a laptop to work through any connections. I have an Ethernet cable sticking out of the wall staring at my Xoom. Is there any type of adaptor that I can get to allow me to be hard-wired without the use of wireless?
I can't use any type of tethering (no cell phone coverage). So I'm hoping there is some sort of mini-usb adaptor to USB to modem to ethernet...
I am looking into this as well. I do service on moving heads (lamps) and they have a web server built in for diagnostics. I would love to just use my tablet to connect directly to them.
My adapter is an Asix AX88772B. It worked before on my china tablet on 3.2. but after I did an ICS upgrade on it, it stopped working. But that tablet sucked in all possible ways !

This is done on the EEPad. Can this be done on the Galaxy series?

I also am in a location that doesn't allow any wireless AP or travel routers. Once I attached the travel router, it gets knocked off the network. I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. I would love to find a solution to connecting an usb ethernet adaptor to it.
I have tried the bobjgear usb ethernet adapter on my note 10.1, no joy. I also have another one (pluggable) on a different asix chip which needs more power to get going. I don't think the tab can supply enough for the led lights on it. Have ordered 5v injectors. So yet to see. Although I may well be barking up wrong tree as the note may not have drivers at all. I read somewhere that note may have some compatibility but mut be correct chip. So I will keep on testing until exhausted.
One the plus side bobjgear's website does list tabs that work out of the box with his adapter

WiFi USB adapter on phone/tablet

I have couple of WiFi USB adapters used to enhance weak WiFi signals and to improve WIFi connection.
Is it possible to connect such an adapter to the phone/tablet by an OTG USB cable? Are there any drivers or apps that enable WiFi adapter to be used on phone/tablet?
Many thanks in advance.
I think the short answer is no.
Why not. Strong Wifi adapter would greatly improve usefulness of my tablet as a surfing device.
Mice and USB flash memories work already through USB OTG cable.

[Q] USB OTG works well with ICS, HOWEVER...

However, is there any way possible to charge your phone WHILE using the OTG adapter? They both use the 1 micro port on my phone, but I need to find a way to charge the phone while using the OTG adapter.....perhaps a micro USB splitter-type adapter?????
I was actually wondering about this myself, though I don't think a splitter-type cable would work. I'm wondering if the power connection is on separate pins than the data, though...if they don't share space then I'd think it would be possible in some fashion.

A similar problem is showing up regarding using the mhl port to output to hdmi. Though the original information indicated that the power cable was supposed to charge the phone it seems it does not on the first version (super DUMB).
I have read though that the newer version of the mhl port is 10 (I think) pins rather than the 5 of the original. The newer port DOES allow charging while output is in operation.
I suspect this will also allow an OTG cable that charges while in use.
I am not so sure about the mhl idea anymore. Only one port for everything is ok if it has enough pins/bandwidth to have a breakout box that would allow an external usb drive to be read while hdmi is being output to a screen and power is supplied to the phone. As it is now with only one-at-a-time it isn't very inspiring as the phones get closer to the power of laptops.
What would be really neat would be a box with wi-fi, and the output to hdmi and usb ports as well. A wireless breakout box. Then the charger could be over by the phone which is near the user.

Oh... I found a useful diagram here.

Question Problem with ethernet tethering

I have such an adapter https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Ether...+RJ45&qid=1682626537&sprefix=,aps,1864&sr=8-3. And unfortunately, after connecting it to the phone in the hotspot and tethering settings, the Tethering via Ethernet option is greyed out. I've set hardware acceleration in developer options, have Data Saver turned off, and set the default usb connection to tethering. The phone is new and freshly updated. The adapter definitely works, tested on the previous phone (Samsung S9+), another Samsung A5 phone and even on a Mac tablet. Is it possible that Sony is picky and I need to buy a better adapter or do you know any other tricks. I read on reddit that a friend has a 2.5GbE one that framework sell, realtek adapter and it works fine for him on SONY 1 IV
if your doing this to a pc you just use a usb cable it tethers over that
on locked down devices like consoles or something idk you might be out of luck i have never tethered a phone that way always used usb or wifi hotspot
No, as I wrote earlier with the previous phone I used and it works normally. I need to connect the car with an ENET cable (BMW).
Idk there maybe an Ethernet adapter out there that works but that is a much more niche way of doing it especially to a car
Look for Ethernet adapter that people say worked on older Sony phones if any
the way i would do it is tether phone to laptop and laptop ethernet to car
