LifeProof - FRE Case for Samsung Galaxy S7 - Samsung Galaxy S7 Accessories

anyone own the LifeProof - FRE Case for Samsung Galaxy S7? care to share your review?

I've seen a couple of videos on YouTube and would also like to see some real reviews.
The only thing I hated with past Lifeproof cases were the Rainbow/oil slicks under the screen and the muffled sound.

Just ordered one. It should be here by May 27

I just got the lifeproof and I'm using it as i type.
The good news is that it does what the box says. Tested it in a bowl of water and there was no water entry.
Also threw it from about 5 feet and the phone was inside survived scratch less.
Now the bad news is that typing, especially on the ends isn't the greatest experience. There's a bit of play especially at the edge of the keyboard and sometimes the keyboard doesn't register inputs.
I've been using the screen sans any sort of protection so far so I'm not that pleased with this solution. Probably the nuud line will be better but I prefer restricting further scratches on my screen (already have a bunch of scratches from just my pocket). On a separate note, my Moto G2, sans any sort of cover or scratch guard has had no scratches whatsoever, despite falling quite often.
Ask me any questions.
Pictures tomorrow from my moto g.

Sorry but I had such bad quality problems with the LifeProof case that I bought for my Galaxy S4 that I don't feel comfortable giving them more of my hard earned money.

I also think there is hardly any protection for the back of the S7 with the Lifeproof case. There is no padding, the back of the phone just lays against the hard plastic back and those hard ribs along the edges.
I believe one good drop and the back of the phone would be shattered.

I threw the phone a couple of times and no issues. Dropped it down on Asphalt at 20 kmph from my bicycle. Notjing broke. But I managed to scuff the case.
What I hate is the inaccurate touchscreen. I find myself pulling out the phone from the case just to use the glass sans any sort of impediments

I have this case and my only gripe so far is the touch screen. My wife has a lifeproof fre on her iphone 6s so we swapped phones for a few minutes. I had no problems typing on her phone with the fre, she hated typing on mine. Another thing I dont like is the quality of these cases. The little rubber gasket around the lightning port cover on hers is warped just after a couple months of use. The s7 fre case port cover is slightly different. I wireless charge mine to minimize plugging in. I also noticed this screen protector does not fit fully flush against the glass especially near the screen edges. Its like I am typing on my old Nokia N900 all over again because I have to press down more. The case does feel good in the hand though. But I am still thinking of alternatives.

Ultra Thin Translucent Skin

Has anyone tried this for the Note 3? I bought something very similar in gray translucent color for my Note 2 which fit the job perfectly since I keep my phone in my front right pocket so don't need anything bulky and the design/color turned out nice. Just hoping the charger port is big enough for use with Smart Dock which was a little snug with the Note 2 one. $3.99 with shipping included from Asia.

old thread, but I came across it and figured i'd respond.
I had something just like this for my HTC One.
it was great in how thin it was. Obviously not much for drop protection, but it provided better grip and scratch protection without adding weight/size.
Only issue was that the fit was very tight, and the material is not elastic. As a result, i ended up stretching one of the cutouts slightly, and it never quite sat perfectly. I liked it anyway, and would try one again if i still had the phone. I might try one of these for my GN3.
These cases are superb. I bought several of these just in case I want to swap them out. So far though, I have only swapped it out once because of light scratches from a year of use on my S3. These cases are definitely not for drop protection. Strictly for scratch protection. They are the thinnest available. They are also not grippy. I like it because I personally hate the dust collecting silicone cases. At first I bought the black version for my black note 3, but then i bought the white/clear version of the case and I like the clear case more. The black case hides the silver accent edge of the note 3 while the white one allows that detailing to show. It also doesn't hurt that they're dirt cheap.
I bought one of these and they are super thin. I love that it barely adds bulk. But as windowmaker said, there's no grip what so ever. At least before you had some grip from the battery cover. I decided to trim out the back of mine so I have some grip at the back since the battery cover is now exposed. But still no side grip. Maybe put clear skinomi skin on the sides for better grip. But if you want thin, this is one of the thinnest out there.

I've got one. Not bad but not perfect. The fit wasn't good enough, it always looked like it was coming off on one side. Cutouts very good. Does not protect the screen or the camera in any way. I switched to Ringke Slim since and I think it's better and not much bulkier. But for the money - great buy. And the Note still looks like the Note. And the owner still looks like homo sapiens not some anal-retentive douche who spends a fortune on a lovely and stylish phone just to turn it into some Ninja-Turtle global destruction device
Does anyone have a picture of the note 3 with this case on?

I used to use these style of cases because I wanted absolute minimal size added to the phone while providing basic scratch protection.
Recently I moved to "skins"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TeStBNHqCZA
That's a skinomi wood one, and I much prefer it to those cheap 2mm cases. Not does it keep the phone slim, it provides the same type of protection. The cheap ebay cases werent going to provide any type of drop protection anyways.

Tech21 Case

Received my Tech21 case yesterday. I have to say, it's awesome. Of course I threw it on the ground as soon as I installed the case I'm impressed. It fits nicely and is a lot smaller than I thought it'd be. With the Tempered Glass screen protector, this phone should be able to withstand any normal fall. Shipping from the UK didn't take as long as I thought it would either. Very pleased. The only issue I see is the style of plastic is "hard" not the softer type. I'm used to Incipio Feather cases and they have a softer more "grippy" feel. (I know; use your Big Boy words.) Anyway, I recommend this over an Otterbox, unless you need to protection from water. This will not protect from water damage.

Those cut outs are huge... It looks nice with the exception of the abnormally large spaces on the back and ports. It seems like companies think it's too hard to make it a perfect cut out similar to Spigen on the back.

Got the same case on a T-Mobile store. Best case so far for my G3.
i love this case and the grip it gives. the cutouts are large but i am sure that is to ensure all/any cable would fit.

You have a good point because the stock cable is rather large. I wonder if the large cut out on the back was to prevent any interference between the case and laser.

Yeah my spigen case for my s4 wouldnt let me use my aux cable i had for my car. And i had to find a fitting cable which was annoying.
As for on the back around the camera the larger/wider cutouts probably work better as well when it comes to feel since the case is fairly thick a staunch drop right around the button could possibly make it more annoying to fully hit the button from multiple angles while holding the phone..
I assume all of these things are thought about im just thinking as to whywhy.. Its a great case though im gonna keep it until the US slim guard case becomes available.

Thanks for posting this up. Pics look good. I was gonna stop at a best buy and pick one up before my trip to Colorado but they were out ?. I'll definitely be getting one when I'm back home though.

Other than BestBuy, T-Mobile and Sprint corp stores are selling it too.
The T-Mobile by my house was having 30% all accessories last weekend when I bought the G3. Saw this case in blue and knew I had to have it since I had one with good results on my old Galaxy S2 back in the day. Its been a little over a week and the blue areas that actually rest on surfaces tend to turn a little black though. It's not awful (to me anyway). Just a heads up.
Dropped my phone the other day flat on it's back from my pocket and cringed knowing the orange goodness was on the top and sides but it was still fine lol.

Poetic Revolution case for Tab 4 8.0

The moment I opened my Tab 4 I realized it needed a case. The Tab 3 7.0 that it replaced lived it's life in an Otterbox mainly because I got a deal on it and it was a good case. There wasn't an Otterbox for the 4 when I got it so I started searching and found the Poetic Revolution on Amazon for $15.
Based on the description I decided that this case should be good enough for a while. I overlooked the fact that it actually a TPU outer skin, not rubber like the Otterbox. This isn't a big deal but it is stiffer than I had hoped for. The volume and power buttons are hard to identify without looking at them, but they still press easily even though you can't really tell you are pressing them at times. The rear of the case is plastic and seems to feel durable. The integrated screen protector only lasted 3 days before I ripped it out. The screen did not seem to respond correctly with it in place and at times would act funny if I was not pressing forcefully. There are also flaps that cover the SD card slot as well as the headphone and charging ports.
Overall I feel that this is a very well made case. The fit and finish is nice and there are no fitment issues. The only issue I have is the screen protector which I have solved by removing it altogether, and for the price it can't be beat.

One month update:
The case is still holding up very well with no major issues, I just wanted to add that the power and volume buttons are still very hard to press. There is no indication of whether they have been pressed or not, no soft squish, no tactile feedback, nothing. Its hard to tell if the button has been pressed unless you are looking at the screen. I only say this because I spent the last few weeks trying to root the device and had to take it out of the case to get it in to odin.

Is there a cutout at the top of the screen protector for the camera? I'm trying to figure out if this might work with the voice capable version.
I think there was a hole for the camera, but I am using a separate screen protector because the one that was with the case pretty much sucked.

Is the headphone jack accessible? An amazon review said it isn't because the case is too thick.
I have this case as well, there is a cutout for the front cam and have had no issues with headphone jack door unless your jack is extraordinarily thick.
Definitely gonna order one of these
This is the case I have aswell. It has already saved my tablet from a fall and skid or two. Haven't had any issues with the builteam in screen protecter though. Touch seems just as responsive to me. Only issue I have is using the IR blaster. The plastic covering the port seems to shorten the range by about a ft. and a half or so.
Edit...
Well... I can now safely say that the case is well worth what I payed for it. 4am trip downstairs and dropped my tablet. End over end down the entire flight of bare hardwood stairs in a home with 12 ft. ceilings.
I just picked up a 7" Tab 4, and immediately ordered this case and Im impressed with the build quality. I have this case for my Note 4 and MotoX 2014 and all three are built very well. The built in screen protectors are hit and miss. The one that came on this unit worked very well and sticks flatly on the screen with no high spots, so I kept it on.
Id say that for $15 you really cannot go wrong.
Sorry to resurrect this thread, but can you use only the bottom shell and not the top part?

Any covers that avoid the rounded back?

Hi guys,
one thing that annoys me is the rounded back of the nexus. When you lay it on the table it turns left and right when scrolling onehandedly....this is really nerveracking.
At the moment I use one of them TPU cases but this has the same rounding and thus the same turning.
Are there any (non-flip) covers that tackle this?
Cheers
check out the ringke fusion case. I love it and solved that issue for me
look at diztronic case, is not totally flat but helps to make N6 more stable
http://www.amazon.it/Diztronic-Matt...=1449071789&sr=8-1&keywords=diztronic+nexus+6
Cheers guys...but both cases are rounded too, how does it solve it?
The Poetic Revolution has a flat back. It has some pegs on the inside back wall that are holding the phone in place. Great case, except for the flat buttons but you can get used to those.
I had this one...
http://www.amazon.com/Evocel®-Prote...merchant-items&ie=UTF8&qid=1450211642&sr=1-31
Makes the phone flat, but pretty bulky, and no longer feels like a luxury item in this case.
Hi guys, thanks again for all those tips....
Got myself this one now :
Nillkin Slim Armor Bumper Rahmen-Schutzhülle, stoßfest, für Google Nexus, 6 https://www.amazon.de/dp/B00T2R9V7A/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_hnACwb693RZ0W
It is perfect, no rocking and turning, the phone lies firmly on those two bars running from the backsides' top to bottom.
Only downside is that you now can see the white back case which I bought accidently but kept.

The Ringke FUSION has a ring around the nexus logo that effectively stabilizes the phone. It is not perfectly stable, but ends up being fine for light usage of the phone when it's laying on a table. See this picture (found via google image search) for a better view of how it works.
Big image

Is that frame around the Nexus-Word indented? If so then yes, that should indeed work as well.
I'm sure someone could 3D print a case with enough incentive. I would pay decent money for a case that flattens the phone so I wouldn't have to give up my airdock

Indeed. If it had a matte soft touch feel (like the Nexus5), and if it filled in the curves without adding much height to the hump on the back, that'd be great. It'd be thin in the middle, thicker on the sides of the back where the curve goes up.
The problem with the Nillkin Slim Armor Bumper is that it does add some height above the back area. If it had half the height off the back, it'd still be a fine case. Sometimes I'm tempted to find a belt sander and smooth it down a bit on my own.
Evocel and Ranz on amazon are both flat backs
That Ranz case is the worst piece of crap I ever bought. I threw it away immediately after I got it.

Warning for all the minimalist case owners out there!

I've been a minimalist case user for years, I think going back to the samsung galaxy s3. I am very OCD with my phones and treat it like a baby. So I always go with a minimalist case because I don't like the bulk.
on the s7 i actually tried a dbrand (carbon) because the phone looks so good I didn't want to hide it, unfortunately this didn't help make the phone any less slippery. It may have actually made it more slippery because the glass actually gives friction and the aluminum sides aren't covered with the skin so VERY slippery.
So anyway i went with the spigen Thin Fit case. This is similar to the cases I usually have used over the years.
Yesterday as I was sitting down, the phone took a slight (1 foot) slip/fall and sort of skidded. I honestly don't remember if it landed on the face or back but after i picked it up i immediately saw the screen was ok, and the dbrand skin is still on the back (so honestly don't know if it's cracked). but it did take a pretty decent nick out of the aluminum on the lower right corner. If you look close you can see the case was actually damaged a little too.
I think the case is great for what it is. Honestly if it would have covered the entire bottom (which would make it more comfortable in the hand) then it would have protected the phone in this slight drop.
Just wanted to let you guys know, that we can all drop phones, and you may want to make sure all edges are covered because TBH i can't believe the phone was damaged this bad from such a slight fall.
I am ordering something that covers all edges to prevent further incidents like this (and to cover this so I can stop looking at it every 5 mins )

try the neo hybrid. I love it. spigen stuff is great. they were on sale last week so I got a tough armor and neo and love the neo. love the rugged armor TPU and I've got a slim fit that's great too. I've pretty much got all their stuff lol

Looks like it just happened to land perfectly on that corner. I too wish they had gone all the way around with the case but I know what I'm getting myself into by running this case.
I switched away from Spigen's Thin Fit awhile back when I found out that Ringke makes a very similar case (might even be thinner), but covers all the sides. It's slightly harder to take the case off, but not impossible. You might want to check it out. Ringke Snug-Fit on Amazon.
hmm i have this case and thinking about getting something that covers the whole frame now...ill most likely get the cali case once they ship to canada...
Go with tech21, they are thin and provide excellent drop protection, I've dropped mine on concrete several times and nothing has happened.
