My Z2 forcefully started the update from .570 to .575. I would like to cancel the update but have no option to.
When connecting to any wi-fi/data connection it automatically resumes.
I'm currently on 570 firmware, rooted with recovery and do not wish to update to 575 as I will lose recovery and root!
How can I manually remove the update? What must I remove in Root Explorer?
Thanks.
actually even the download completed , it will not update because u have root
don not worry
if you want to cancel the auto. update , go to About phone - Software update and select setting from the menu and cancel the auto. update

In the ''About phone'' menu, software update is missing, it is not there!
On the top of the screen I still have the notification ''Xperia system update'' followed by pending Wi-Fi network to continue.
Is there not another way to simply remove the update and stop it from continuing?
you can try go to settings, aplications, all, see app Update Software and Force Close
you can freeze software update with titanium backup

I have Titanium backup but I forgot about freezing the app. Thanks for reminding me to do so! ''System Update'' service now frozen!
Another option was - Disable app in Settings / App/ All /Update service app.

Hi -
Since upgrading to 2.1 I can't install anything from the Market... It allows me to download files, but as soon as it goes to the install step, the Market crashes and exits. The same happens each time I try.
Any ideas?
Thank you

Same here. Updated today. Everything is working except the market. But my error seems different. I chose download an app an it just keeps stuck at the download started screen. Any suggestions?
It happen to me too today. It keep crashing on installing process.
This is what I do.
Go to settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Choose Market Application -> Click Clear Cache -> Click Uninstall, it will ask whether we want to uninstall market update. I go with Yes, and the uninstalling process proceed.
After that I start my Market application from Apps menu and when it started, it show TOS (Term of Services) which is of course I choose Accept. After that my market works again. But I don't know why it happen. Hopefully this can be help for you guys.

It should be there (at least in my phone). The comment becoming tab and place above beside About.

It happens to me after I flash a new ROM. Give some time for it to install any updates for the market app. Go to Settings -> Applications -> Market and force close it. Restart the app and it should start.

P.S. How to restart or install update for market app?

Are you sure your Google account is set with a valid email address?
And do not install some market apk as is... just flash the Gapps from Mik's thread. Here it is: http://www.mediafire.com/?j80xkzrgdd6pjxb
It will give the market app as on April 29th 2011. Once you've installed it, it will probably update itself to the latest market. If you do not want the updated market, let it update first. Then go to Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Market -> Press 'Uninstall updates' button.
If you want to stop the app, go to Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Market -> Press 'Force Stop' button. Then run the app again to restart it freshly.
Hope this helps.
Uninstall your market. Flash Gapps.

Sorry for my bad English
if u r satisfied ur apps, u dont need update ,
i won't update mye apps, like power amp
old version is cool, and great, i tried the new version on my mini pro
it is bad
If you install the old market and dont want it to update then do the following.
Open up terminal, type:
Su -
Pm disable com.android.market.updater
A message will confirm the updater is disabled and it will never update again. Other apps will update as normal (according to your preferences).
Ignore all the <br/> my tapatalk is messing about.

HI guys.
I got a notification on my android 7 that theres an xperia system update. I click on it and it says 'ready to install'. Can this sfill be stopped?
I already long click the notification and used force stop so now the note is gone. However under settings about phone software update, it still says 'xperia update ready to install'. I then set download updates to off for both system and apps.
But now what..
Does this mean the system update is already in my phone and will be installed regardless?
Is there a way to stop it?
I'm using a semi-stock rom that's been debloated and rooted and a bunch of extra junk....there was a new update released recently and my phone is wanting to update. What's the preferred way to stop the system from trying to update and get rid of the download and notification?

Remove the Update Center app.
It's located in /system/priv_app/Update_center(-release).apk
use any System Application Disable App from playstore, browse for software update , and disable it ..
i.e. if you don't wana remove / delete system component
