So I went through and updated to .185 and since then I have no mobile data. See plenty of bars but no LTE.
I am rooted, tried sim swap, selecting networks, etc. Nothing seems to work.
Thoughts?
Edit: SGP771, fat fingered... ugh.
Disregard, figured it out. For some reason when I updated the tablet it didn't correctly connect to the mobile network and get the APN info and I never thought to check it...
Lesson, don't overlook the obvious...
It happened to me too. Updates cleared APN settings.

Yesterday, I successfully updated to android 2.1. I have confirmed that the APN information is correct and that there is sufficient network coverage. I have activated data in the settings - yet I cannot seem to get a data connection. Unless I activate WIFI, neither facebook nor mail will update, and I also cannot open websites in several browsers (opera, fennec, standard browser, dolphin).
I also don't get an icon for 3g or hsdpa connection.
Anyone having the same problem? Or even better... a solution?
Best,
-Mike

I would say it's your carriers networks are down. I had a similar problem but the 3G symbol was there and it just would download anything. I then disabled juice defender and it works perfectly.
If you are running the nordic kit this seems to be a fairly common problem. One of the guys over at phandroid fixed this by going to the SIM Toolkit and downloading settings, but I did not have this option. I was able to get it working temporarily by fiddling with the APN settings, but then like you it just failed to work any more.
I have flashed back to 1.6 and am now going to update with generic uk firmware.
So - I tried the Sony Ericsson option in the settings (topmost menu entry) to automatically download settings, I tried setting them manually, I tried auto-configuring via the apn-options... nothing worked...
then, suddenly, without having changed anything - I get a 3G signal. Seems to have sorted itself out for whatever reason. Will update in case anything changes.

Worked for me.
Hey, I got a softbrick on my vibrant, reflashed back to stock and everything is working except I get no data connection. No 2g/no 3g, no Data icon at all. Even if I am on wifi I am also unable to download anything from the market place however my datasync / push with e-mail also works.
Any ideas?
Thanks
figured out my APN was empty... all good.
same issue, i don't know how to fix it. Mobile Network state says disconnected and connecting but never connects...
Might help to say I'm using a Galaxy S Continuum
and the only reason I'm posting here is because this is the only topic similar to my issues.

I couldnt figure it out either, so just used Wifi to get myself going...
Turns out 2.1 doesn't support two factor authentication with Google accounts, (at least I couldnt get it to work) so you may need to turn that off too to get going.
I've just uptaded to official ICS through odin since 5 days

This is happening to me too; nice to know I'm not the only one although it seems to be a rare problem.
OTA update which seemed to run without a hitch, stock recovery, coming from rooted but otherwise stock honeycomb. I have voodoo OTA root keeper, which did it's job.
I'm fairly conservative with the tab, I've not changed any of the default settings since the OTA, I let all my apps redownload after the update and their data was still there; I have TiBU but didn't need to use it, definitely haven't restored any system data or aps.
My tab sees the sim card, I can send texts and get replies, it knows what network it's on, I get occasional notifications but can't actually connect to anything (have tried search, the browser, FB app, gmail app, news app, all time out).
The simm card works fine in my phone, the simm card from my phone which gives me mobile data on my phone doesn't on the tab.
Settings says there's no ip address available - I never checked before the update, don't know if this is normal.
I've not bothered much with customising the tab since I mostly use it for work, can anyone suggest where I might start trying to fix this?
eta:
I checked a number of threads about mobile data and honeycomb - to get to mobile network settings you go
settings > more > mobile network
I wasn't in flight mode, packet data was selected, network mode was on auto.
The fix turned out to be changing the apn - there are 6 offered, I worked my way down the list (I could have phoned and asked, but that usually means being on hold for 30 minutes first), most of them had no network at all, the default one had a network connection but no mobile data, one works properly
(my tab is on Optus, the correct apn turned out to be optus preconnect)
Opened hotspot but neither my laptop,iPad or any other smartphones can see Wi-Fi hotspot
Picture 2, setup but no device can see or connect
I am having the same problem, also on an Edge. Have you managed to find any solution?
Dude you have it set on "only allowed devices can connect"

I have mine set on visible for all devices and it still isn't seen
Did you configure it?
Yes. Tried every channel manually. Even tried to manually add the network on multiple other devices
Uhh did you pay for it? Mine is tied to my carrier and the text reads "tethering or mobile hotspot"
Well, as far as I know, in my country the tethering is free. Nobody impose any restriction or limit. Or at least that was the case last time I checked. It's true that my phone is bought from a carrier, but it was bought off contract and it was sim unlocked by that carrier at the moment of purchase. More than that, even though it was branded on the software side, I upgraded to the latest firmware hoping it would solve the bug. But it didn't. USB tethetring works fine. Only the wi-fi one doesn't. It enables itself and then doesn't do absolutely nothing...
Tethering in my country is free as well. Not a tethering problem here from carrier. Switched SIM card from Galaxy S6 Edge to my iPhone 6 and it worked perfectly well there. I also tried changing setting to allow connections to all devices and allowed devices only but still no luck.
For those that are having connection problems, is your device Encrypted? Mine is encrypted and I am wondering if there is a bug in encryption to where it does not allow you to connect or use hotspot Tethering if your device is encrypted.
My phone is not encrypted. So I don't think if it has anything to do with that
I am having the same problem with my s6 edge. I do not know what to to.
Have you found any solutions?
+1 to the hotspot issue.
No matter what I do... my wifi hotspot won't be visible to other devices.

Confirmed here as well. Device is encrypted, and tethering used to work while it was encrypted -- so I don't think it's that.
Looks like it's on, but nothing sees the SSID. My wife's S6 works perfectly, and we're on a shared data plan.
So I think it's definitely a bug, and not a setting somewhere.
I have it fixed with a factory reset.
Try it..it worked for me.

That approach suffers from a low Wife Acceptance Factor.
Any other ideas?
I had the same problem. Couldn't connect from iphone, laptop, another android phone. Tried changing SSID. Setting was always set to allow all devices.
Finally went into advanced menu and changed the channel from Auto to Channel 3 and now is SSID is visible to all devices.
Phone is rooted and didn't have to do factory reset.
Hope this helps
Is the option set up like this?
Mobile hotspot>allow all devices to connect

check your usage quota. if you are over, tethering may not function.
that is too funny. just buy here an iPhone. Personally, they just work. However, She did get her attention caught by the S6 Edge-i was suprised. I would never reccommend an android for her. I don't TOUCH her phone-i want NO responsibility for that. I am always breaking (and usually) fixing my s6. I prefer android, but personally it is not as stable as iOS
So the only resolution is to factory reset? I have the same problem, after talking to ATT tech support and 30 min later they told me to replace my sim card at ATT store, but that didn't help either (
Is anyone else having trouble connecting to Wi-Fi? I haven't had any trouble up until now. Other than root, busybox and TWRP I haven't modified anything else. Just started not connecting within past few days.I wiped cache and dalvik/art in recovery but still no go.It sticks at obtaining IP address.

Do you have Comcast/Xfinity? Could be the the Wifi bug with Comcast and Lollipop.
No,I don't have either. Its connecting again. Strange. Nature of the Android beast though I guess.

You can try, setting ->wifi -> menu -> avanced setting -> uncheck verify internet access

hmm... When I use Chainfire's pry-fi app (which changes your wifi mac address) on non-nexus devices, it seems to cause trouble.
I have the same Wi-Fi Problem. No Settings helped.
Router: German Speedport W 724V
I used to have this problem b4. Connected home WiFi but no Internet. And I need to disconnected WiFi and use data to check if it connected to Playstore. Then enabled WiFi to see it work. Very frustrated. Its something to do with the Google DNS with my previous crappy Internet Provider which is CrapCast(Comcast). I just switched to Verizon FiOS last Sunday and never have any problems now on all my devices.

It says I'm connected to wifi but when I try to use the phone's internet, it does not work. I've had this phone for 3 months and it has been perfect til now
