Linux based OSes all use a similar file permission system you can read in detail on Wikipedia:

To change permissions I like to use Root Explorer, here is a video tutorial:

or just go into recovery and sellect fix permissions
Using Root Explorer
I used Root Explorer, went into system/app, and if you select the view button you can select details instead of icons, this will show you the permission settings of your other applications. rw-r--r--
by long pressing on your application you wish to change, select permissions from the menu. A pop up shows the follow titles.
Read Write Execute
Owner
Group
Others
Select the boxes to match your permission.
Owner: Read and Write
Group: Read

Guys i have a problem that my code gives an Exception as Permission Denied when we write a xml in android. can any one tell that How it will be removed.

the phone does heat up a bit...but that is expected from an x86 device.. however it hasnt got as hot as it used to get when the device was on stock settings.... so far im running this for over a week now...no issues...

Yes...for rooted devices only
Works great games are soo much smoother! I think the battery takes a little hit but so worth it for smoother games.

Script updated to 2.1.1
should be much better on battery now...and still be smooth with no fall back on performance.
also no game should lag now.

Works great love it. Have it set as su and boot in Smanager. I Can tell a difference when using mostly games. Seems like good performance and battery balance. I really enjoy it thank you for your hard work.

I did set it as root but i keep getting this error....help.

1. make sure ur devce is rooted
2. in super user app ...go to settings and allow all
3.download superuser app by clockworkmod from market.
4.update binaries from that app
5.use root expolrer to delete old superuser.apk from /system/app
6then run script
It seems that as i was using smanager for the first time...i was not enabling the root and boot options before executing the script.
This is how it looks like now....let me know how this look w now....Should i reboot next?

I'm trying to add a new permission in the android permission system. What I've found out till now is that the android manifest is in this directory : android.googlesource.com/platform/frameworks/base/+/master/packages/SystemUI/AndroidManifest.xml but the sms permissions are not included.
My question is if it feasible to create a new permission by merging the read and write permissions of sms or by modifying the code of the read permission of SMS. If it is feasible how it's done,where the code of the permissions resides and in which file those permissions are.
I have no experience with modifying roms,any help will be greatly appreciated.
I have an app that opens a web browser and searches Google for a keyword. In the AndroidManifest.xml file, I forgot to add <uses-permission ... INTERNET/> but the app still works. I realize that INTERNET isn't a dangerous permission so the user doesn't need to allow it. But all the documentation that I can find says that the uses-permission element must appear in the AndroidManifest.xml file. What am I missing?
