[Q] Xperia Z2 please help guys. - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys. I have a problem with my Z2. Recently and unfortunately i have updated to 6.0.1 and now i want root access on my phone to install viper4android but i couldn't find any solution. I will give all the information and you can suggest me what to do.
Phone: Sony Xperia Z2
Model: D6503
Build Number: 23.5.A.0.575
Kernel: 3.4.0-perf-g43a728
Bootloader: Not unlocked but in service menu shows it can be unlockable (however official sony site doesn't show my phone to get the code)
What should I do in this case?
If I need to downgrade, I am okay with 5.1.1 but I don't know how to downgrade with locked bootloader.
If this is the case how do i downgrade?
Is there anyway to unlock bootloader at the moment for sony devices?
Is there any root method for 6.0.1 or will be soon for Z2?
Anything could work please help..
PS: English is not my native sorry for mistakes. Thank you all.

Another topic with this question.
So, for downgrade, you don't need unlocked bootloader, just use Flashtool program, install drivers for device and Flashmod and flash FTF for your device model.
For now, no way to root Android 6 with locked bootloader.
You can always unlock the bootloader, once in service menu is positive status (Yes).
If you want to unlock bootloader, use official metod for example, but don't need for this (unlock bootloader, flash custom kernel and ....), , only to install sound mod.

That is the problem, look at official sony web site, my device is not on the list for bootloader unlock. So can you offer me a guide how to downgrade to 5.1.1, a noob friendly guide.

1. Download and install the program flashtool by Androxyde. - http://www.flashtool.net/downloads.php
2. Install drivers from installation folder /Drivers - Driver for model Xperia and Flashmod drivers.
3. Download FTF file for YOUR MODEL DEVICE with 5.1.1 from here for example:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2759934
and copy to folder with Flashtool/ Firmwares
4. Start Flashtool and click on Flash icon.
5. Choose Flashmod (not Fastboot), and find the FTF, that you download before with 5.1.1
6. Follow the guide in the program Flashtool and all will be the OK,

Hey man, first, you need to downgrade to KK (.314 it´s the best one) and then root and install recovery, then update to LP .232 or .264 and then go to MM,follow the instructions that Monipeev gave to you (but choose .314 fw) and then follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...ck-d6502-03-23-4-0-546-completeguide-t3171219 Hope you get it

Bro i don't want MM right now. I just want root access so if its 5.1.1 i am okay with that. Monipeev i will try your method and notify you about the result tomorrow.

Okay after this how do i root the easiest way? kingroot one click apk ? or you suggest something else for locked bootloader bro ?

Go through the steps of Root compilation .264 Android 5.1.1, with a version of the application Kingroot that uses the author of the video.
After root success, replace Kingroot with SuperSu.

it was about drivers. i have installed all of the drivers (even those i don't need) in flashtool folder. also windows installed semc and somc drivers by itself and i have successfully flashed. i hope i dont get bootloop because its been 2 minutes and im still waiting for it come to menu btw i didn't wipe the userdata and applog while flashing.
Edit: just a last thing how do i replace kingroot with supersu, i can google it but since you are guiding me through this
Edit2: okay no bootloop awesome, now the only thing left to do is rooting. thank you so much for your help bro. i will notice you if i have a problem again. i hope this thread will be helpful for others too like me

I think if you follow this guide, you will finish ok:
http://www.w0lfdroid.com/2015/05/How-to-Remove-Replace-KingUser-KingRoot-with-SuperSU.html?m=1

there is a program called superSuMe apk. does it work ? any idea ?

I'm sorry, but I have no experience with this app.
At least that is described in its description.

wow now i get ''unfortunately the process com.android.media has stopped'' message and phone keeps resetting..
Edit: i think i will reflash with wipe options..

Surely it would be better.

its done

yes.
1. Downgrade (if youre using the .167 to .112)
2. Flash root through adb
3. Flash recovery through adb
4. Build pre-rooted upgrade zip
5. Flash with recovery
6. Now you're on .167 with root and bootloader locked.

Nice! Thanks
I have xperia m aqua e2353 with 26.1.A.2.167
I already downgraded to 112 and was able to root.
I want to flash .167
From the instructions, it says "build pre-rooted upgrade zip". I can't find a step-by-step procedure on doing this. Do I have to have a 167 ftf and use flash tool to extract kernel?
Sorry, new on M4....

This is how I did it with mine I included the rooting process too.
1.) Download flashtool and install all the drivers that is provided by flashtool (They're in the Flashtool/drivers folder in your C drive, I believe) In order to install the drivers, you have to disable windows 8 or 10's driver signature verification (to do that, open up settings then click "update and recovery then click the "recovery" option then click "advanced reboot" I don't know if the process is the same for Windows 8 though).
2.) Download the .112 firmware using XpeiraFirm (It's included in flashtool. You can use the commercial and Journalists one).
3.) Backup your data. (Text messages, call logs, music, photos).
4.) Flash the firmware using flash tool.
5.) If you lost your imei after the downgrade process, go ahead and do a factory reset. (It's somewhere in settings.).
6.) Download the rootkit and the TWRP(custom recovery) installer from this guide. Place them in the folder where you have the ADB and fastboot executable and then run the rootkit first then run the TWRP installer after.
7.) If you wish to update your firmware, just refer to the link in number 6 as there, you'll find the pre-rooted zip which you can use to update your phone to the latest firmware.
Good luck!

"Flash" means installing something to the internal memory.
You need to go back to a "rootable" version and after having your terminal rooted you can flash the latest rooted ROM.
Following the instructions on this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/xp...lipopprerooted231a128z2-tabletsgp511-t3100821 I suggest you:
Flash the Lollipop 23.1.A.1.28 firmware with Flashtool;
Unlock the bootloader (not sure it is strictly needed but better avoid potential issues) with Flashtool (use the Sony website to get the unlock code as the automatic retrieval of Flashtool did not work for me);
Root using the script mentioned in the thread;
Flash the custom recovery;
Flash the rooted 6.0.1 ROM.

You cant make the root with the flashtool! Copy the SuperSu (download newest zip) on your tablet (anywhere) and proceed with this: "TabZ2-lockeddualrecovery2.8.21-RELEASE.installer" you already downloaded from the tutorial. when you launch the "install.bat", the tablet will be rooted and twrp installed it auto-boot into twrp and now you can isntall your copied supersu zip then you can proceed with the tutorial
Got it fixed. In my first CWM Backup from the Dualrecovery Package (installer) was a working boot.img All fine now!

issues rooting Xperia XA Ultra F3211 Nougat (7.0)

Hi there
I am struggeling with the root process of my XA Ultra F3211 (running 7.0 Nougat) and I just don't find a solution for my problem on the internet.
I hope y'all can help me with this one..
I read several guides how I can manage to root my phone, I think the basic points are the following:
- USB debugging has to be enabled - there's no problem with that one
- bootloader has to be unlocked (if possible) - it is possible for my phone and I did it
- USB drivers have to be installed - i installed the whole Android Studio including the SDK manager where I could choose to install the Google USB drivers
- you need the flashtool (I installed v. 0.9.23.1), a boot.img, a custom recovery.img and magisk or SuperSU
1. then you should flash only the boot_delivery.xml from the Marshmallow firmware in flash mode (I guess you need to do that because it's not possible to root Nougat without this step)
2. afterwards you should flash the boot.img and recovery.img in fastboot mode using a command line and the fastboot commands (fastboot flash boot boot.img / fastboot flash recovery recovery.img)
3. after you have done this the custom recovery should be installed and you should be able to boot into it to wipe the phone and flash magisk / SuperSU
That's the road so far.
I've tried these steps but I am not able to boot my Xperia into recovery mode. I think the problem is the boot_delivery.xml because when I tried to flash it from a 36.0.A.2.109 (Marshmallow) firmware (it's named customized_UK, I'm from Germany but I did not find a MM FW for Germany) the flashtool gave me the following information:
- Parsing boot delivery
- No flash script found.
- Flash script is mandatory. Closing session
- Ending flash session
- Flashing finished
I found those lines in some posts on the internet but I did not find any information. Someone said that he copied the default.fsc from the C:\Users\YourUser\.flashTool\devices\F31XX to the F32XX directory and renamed it into device and firmware versions. I did not find any default.fsc in this directory so I copied the one from the F33XX directory and named it "F3211_36.0.A.2.109.fsc" and guess what? I started flashtool and the fsc file was deleted. Even if I created it again while the flashtool was already running the tool never asked me if it should use a script - it just tries to flash and gives me the lines I listed above.
I'm not sure if this is the problem, but flash mode seems to work (the Xperia's LED is glowing green) - so does fastboot mode (blue LED) and for both: no unknown devices in Windows' devicemanager.
Maybe it did already work and I just can't manage to boot into recovery but I tried everything (vol down + powerbutton, vol up + powerbutton, powerbutton and repeatedly vol down or vol up when the screen turns on, hold all three buttons at once) - I think vol down + powerbutton should work, the phone vibrates and shows the Sony logo, I let off the buttons, the screen turns off again, then the Sony logo appears again and the phone starts normally into Android.
Does anyone have an idea what I can try to get my Xperia rooted?
Am I wrong in any point?
Looking forward to reading your answeres and thanks in advance
@dionarap, if the guide explains that you have to use Flashtool v0.9.23.2 why are you using v0.9.23.1 ?? Update it, download firmwares again from included Xperifirm, use FSC script when asked and all should be fine

Well, you got me there. I forgot to exchange the x10flasher.jar in the flashtool directory.. *facepalm*
I'll try it when I'm at home again - but I have one more question before I'll do that.
When I start XperiFirm (through flashtool) and choose my device (F3211) the only entry for the Market "Germany" is build nr. 36.1.A.1.86 / R1B - according to another post that's also Nougat.
So which firmware do I need and could I choose a firmware for any Market if I only need to flash the boot_delivery.xml? Or can I use a downloaded ftf-file from another source? I found the 36.0.A.2.109 firmware (which seems to be MM 6.0.1) but it's named "...Customized_UK" and the at the download source the region was entitled "Russia" so I'm not really sure if I should use this ftf-file. I can find a firmware 36.0.A.2.109 / R6A for the Market "Costa Rica" in the XperiFirm - should I rather use this one?
Is it basically possible to tell which Android version a build nr. like 36.1.A.1.86 (Nougat) or 36.0.A.2.109 (MM) has or did I get something wrong?
Edit: I tried the "Costa Rica" firmware and it worked for me - rooting done
Thanks for the assistance!

You are on the right way
Yes you can know the Android version with the firmware build numbers.
For the MM firmware, you can download it with any customization/build it's not important we only need boot_delivery.xml
For the N firmware, you have to use the same as flashed in the device. You can download (and flash) it with an other customization too, the differences are small like LTE/4G icon, some apps are different like Spotify, Gameloft, AVG and the APN settings can be missing for your network provider (easy to add).
I don't recommend to download firmwares from the web because you will not have the FSC file who is very important to avoid hard brick. There is a way to manually add it but I will not explain how to do because I really dislike this way.
Thanks again! rooting is complete I think I just was too blind to notice this mistake after googling, reading and trying different things for several hours.. Again thanks for the assistance
@rrvuhpg Please Help buddy..
i've followed all your step but ending with white Sony logo
i can't enter recovery or else. where did i go wrong and what todo?
Please Help... Please
Edit: If I Re-Flash with different regional firmware, will it brick?
anybody please provide link for official N firmware..
Thanks in advance
Hi there
How far did you go? Did you already flash recovery and did you already enter it once? What was your last step before you got the sony screen? I'm not sure if reflashing can harm your phone but I think you should use a firmware downloaded via XperiFirm (it's integrated in Flash Tool). To get a Nougat firmware for Xperia XA Ultra look for build nr. 36.1.A.0.182.
Hope this helps - good luck mate!

About firmware and rooting

Hello everyone, I get a Sony Xperia X F1521 it comes with Android Oreo 8.0 but I feel that the battery gets drained so fast
So I want to ask, which is the best Android version for this phone overall (by your experience)
-Battery
-Performance
-Camera Quality
And i want to ask something else
Do you suggest me unlock the bootloader? I read about the DRM-Keys and I understand that can be restored from a previous backup
Thanks in advance

lets save drm keys first
from flashtool, goto xperifirm , goto 2016 devices , suzu , and download "Commercial and Journalist" version (thats ANDROID 6) , click on that and download, ONCE download is finished (takes our on good connection) , CLOSE download window, close XPERIFIRM and FLASHTOOL will start creating FTF bundle for you AUTOMATICALLY, if any thing asked in POPUP dialog box, click affirmative (YES / OK ). once bundle is done then
download 31.4.2.107 ( released yesterday), by flashtool , xperifirm AGAIN, this time you can take GERMANY as they always get the latest! ... repeat process till flashtool create bundle for you
you can delete 6gb of downloaded files at C:\Users\<user>\.flashTool\firmwares\Downloads
flash android 6 , extract DRMKEYS by UniversalTAbackupScript (AKA DirtyCow Script) from
https://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/universal-dirtycow-based-ta-backup-t3514236
once TA.img is Extracted, you are ready to unlock your bootloader.
https://developer.sony.com/develop/open-devices/get-started/unlock-bootloader/
remember, unlocking BL will Delete/wipe all data from your device
once unlocked, flash latest Frimware ( or you can flash firmware BEFORE unlocking bootloader)
for rooting access, flash kernel, flash twrp and from twrp flash DRMfix.zip and Magisk, then Reboot!

from flashtool, goto xperifirm , goto 2016 devices , suzu , and download "Commercial and Journalist" version (thats ANDROID 6) , click on that and download, ONCE download is finished (takes our on good connection) , CLOSE download window, close XPERIFIRM and FLASHTOOL will start creating FTF bundle for you AUTOMATICALLY, if any thing asked in POPUP dialog box, click affirmative (YES / OK ). once bundle is done then
download 31.4.2.107 ( released yesterday), by flashtool , xperifirm AGAIN, this time you can take GERMANY as they always get the latest! ... repeat process till flashtool create bundle for you
you can delete 6gb of downloaded files at C:\Users\<user>\.flashTool\firmwares\Downloads
flash android 6 , extract DRMKEYS by UniversalTAbackupScript (AKA DirtyCow Script) from
https://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/universal-dirtycow-based-ta-backup-t3514236
once TA.img is Extracted, you are ready to unlock your bootloader.
https://developer.sony.com/develop/open-devices/get-started/unlock-bootloader/
remember, unlocking BL will Delete/wipe all data from your device
once unlocked, flash latest Frimware ( or you can flash firmware BEFORE unlocking bootloader)
for rooting access, flash kernel, flash twrp and from twrp flash DRMfix.zip and Magisk, then Reboot!

Thanks a lot, I've downloaded the MM firmware
Just one question, the DRM-KEYS (TA.img) can be flashed through TWRP?

digital rights management (DRM) keys is unique keys that can be saved / extracted from few of the xperia devices
1. you are more likely to NEVER use them , its used only if ONE DAY YOU WANA RELOCK your BOOTLOADER!
2. NEVER FLASH THESE KEYS via ANY RECOVERY (twrp) ,
3. Just keep them saved on cloud for some day! if you need!
4. there is separate process to re-instate these keys!

E5823 Root on 32.4.A.1.54

Hi guys
I'm really struggling on this one. I've installed flashtool, flashboot, sony mobile flasher, drivers, unlocked the bootloader... all this is working... but....I can't root this phone
I've followed no less than 5 guides and some I just cant follow and some just don't work.
Can anyone explain to me how, in simple steps, to root the Xperia Z5 Compact which is currently on 32.4.A.1.54 firmware? (The phone is from the UK).
Please help
Del
Did you follow this guide?
IIRC, I had to patch boot.img to get the root access. I did it once, don't need re-patching and can later flash Magisk with no problems. Not sure if the method is still true.

I hadn't seen this post before but still unable to root. Here was my progress on it:
Step 1 - Complete (Once I managed to fix the 0db out of date error)
Step 2 - Had done this previously so no need to do again? (Tried anyway FAILED (remote: 'Device is already rooted'))
Step 3 - Downloaded E5823_Customized UK_32.4.A.1.54-R3E
Step 4 - Complete
Step 5 - Complete
Step 6 - Complete
Step 7 - FAIL - "Could not find device key in TA_E5823_CB5A28FR44_12112020-1347.img (Unit 0x1046B)"
Then tried continuing:
Step 8 - FAIL - "fastboot: error: Couldn't parse partition size '0x'"
Any ideas?
James
I proceeded it in the early day so I guess the fw version may affect the process. Some posts on that thread also report successes with a Marshmallow fw. You can try on an older fw from step 3 to get an operational rooted 6.0 z5c then flash a .54 ftf and magisk later. I believe I did that way but my memory can fool me.
Hope you can find a link of an old fw.
That's it! Nougat can't be rooted!
1. Flash TWRP 3.2.1 via flashtool
2. Prevent the phone from booting up the system
3. Go into recovery mode
4. Flash a recent magisk .zip
5. profit
At least, that's what I remember. Sorry if this doesn't work.
