My moto notifications are not long enough - just what words fit on the little card. A friend with an Asus watch running android wear can double tap his cards and scroll down to read the entire email or whatever notification it is. I can't get this to work on my moto 360. What am i doing wrong. I have worn a pebble for years and all notifications are pretty much completely displayed. What good does it do to see you have an email if you still have to open your phone to read it.
I use eNotify for this - allows you to tap on an email notification on your watch and expand it to read the entire email:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hermes.enotify
Blocked notifications from my main email app (MailDroid) and use this for dealing with emails on my watch. Takes a little setting up, but well worth it.
I believe K9 for Wear offers similar features, but I preferred eNotify after trying both. For SMS I use Textra.

I thought this would be easy to find a GOOD app for this but it hasn't.
I'm after an app that will give reminders for notifications other than my calender and sms ones eg missed call, facebook, facebook messenger, touchdown email, etc.
At the moment I have calender snooze for my appointments which works great, and also go sms pro for messages with its inbuilt repeat reminder.
Now does anyone have one that will work for other notifications and not interfere with with my existing reminders, well I could turn go sms repeat reminders off i guess but not calender snooze.
Still Looking
Should have turned this into a battery thread about a cheap 5500mAh battery for $15. Woulda sure had replies
I can't quite work out specifically what you're after, but this seems to fit the bill.

Thankyou. Sure to give this a go.
Stupid thing is I searched a fair amount and all I found only did missed calls or text messaged etc.... Maybe I just left key words from my search and used the wrong terminology.
But this looks like it works for whatever program that has normal android notifications to be added. So can leave go sms pro out of the list and this won't duplicate the good built in repeat reminders.
I had a Sony SmartWatch 2 but now I have LG G Watch. There are a lot differences but some are almost critical for me, can somebody help me?
Mainly, on SW2 I could run application (Gmail, SMS...) and browse messages but on LG G Watch I can go into the messages only if I have some new. Are there any application like Gmail and SMS which I can use to read older messages?
Next, I can respond to the message but cannot create new one. Yes, I can say "send text to..." but I use czech names and it is impossible to tell the names that way let LG understand. The same with calling, are there any applications where I can browse contacts and send them a SMS or make a call?
Few information... On SW2 I can put a lot of widgets to the screen and I have a knowledge about everything, here I see only the last notification and I have to scrool to the older notifications. Are some watches with additional info?
Generally applications, I start navigation from the phone and mute it later, I cannot get the app back. Or I missing something?
I love the LG G Watch but I miss this usages, can you help me?
Thanks
I have also an SW2 and an Lg G-Watch.
The notification system is very very.... bad on Wear but you can not do anything at this time.
And very often when have many notification for mail for example the notification go out on the watch after et while and also on phone notification bar, so yo can not know that you have received notification.
On SW2 you NEVER miss any notification and this stay always on the watch. Very very .... big problem on Wear, hope it solve nearly
Hi, in regards to the notifications from one of your 5 people edge contacts, aren't we supposed to get a color light side bar notification when we get a text or is that only for missed calls? last night i thought i was getting the blue side bar thing every time i got a text from my first people edge contact but today i don't seem to be getting the light notifications for my other texts. The description in the settings doesn't specify whether it's only for missed calls or not it just says all "notifications" so I assume we should get it for texts too? I'm wondering if maybe i accidentally disabled that feature somehow. it still lights up for missed calls though.
There is an option under 'edge screen' where you can choose 'select notifications' and choose to turn it on and off for missed calls, messages and emails
Pretty sure the 5 people contacts thing only works as long as you use the included, Samsung texting service. If you've switched your primary texting app to something else, like for example Google Voice or Hangouts, the lighting should no longer work for texting purposes. Calls, I believe, are unaffected by this change, and the colours appear just fine.
The phone needs to be screen down for the light notifications to work.
Yes you have to use Samsung messages to get the edge lights to work. I tried it but only lasted 2 days and had to go back to hangouts.

Same experience.
Called Samsung today and unless you use their archaic messaging app then the edge lighting notifications will not function for SMS, MMS etc. It will still work for missed calls I believe.
Essentially they negated any reason for me to keep this device, it's going back.
I'm sure that some smart xda developer will figure out a way to link this to hangouts (why in gods name would Samsung choose to ignore core Google Android apps is beyond me), instead of Samsung trying to force people to use their proprietary garbage.
I should have trusted my gut on this, but really liked the idea of the edge functionality.
Fool me once, shame on you.....
Am I the one who want so bad the integration of whatsapp into people edge world? :crying: is there any official news/hint from samsung about this?
Huh? I'm not using Samsung msgs yet I received a message from my wife and people edge side bar was showing the msg in the specific color I picked for her
Sent from my SM-G925F
I just test mine and with hangouts it doesn't show the color of the contacts that we have on people's edge
I got Moto 360 last Friday and I'm already "meh" about it. All it really does is show the notifications and give you the default actions. Gear S looks really sexy and after watching some videos, it seems it can do a lot more. However, there are a few things I can do with my Moto 360 that are very useful to me:
1. While driving/in a meeting, I can text/reply to e.g. my girlfriend. I can say simply "Ok Google, text my girlfriend I'm on my way". Can I do that with Gear S (don't care if it's S Voice)?
2. Can I retain the same functionality from Android wear in terms of notifications? I.e. reply to a text message, dismiss a Hangout message, etc?
2. I use Google Keep for note taking - does tha work on Tizen/Gear S? If not, what are some good Note taking apps?
Thanks a ton!
1. You can use S Voice and say "Hi Gear" to get it going.
2. If you get the app Gear Notification Extender (GNE) from the Play Store you can reply to and dismiss Hangout messages. GNE also lets Google Maps update to your watch and vibrate every time there is an update. Like when I'm driving and using Maps every time the directions update my Gear S will vibrate and display the new directions on the watch. I find this useful when I'm using my phone to stream music and don't have the maps on the screen at the time. So it's like having a second screen for your phone while your using it.
3. Don't know about note taking as I don't take notes on the Gear S. I saw some note taking apps in the Samsung store tho. It sucks we have to use a separate Samsung store. None of my Google Play credits transfer over.
Thanks for the answers. How is S Voice? I've used it only a few times on my Note 4, it seems to take much longer to recognize what I'm saying (e.g. I'd say "weather tomorrow", then wait 3-4 seconds for it to recognize my voice vs. Google that seems to recognize it immediately).
I've heard of this GNE app, hope it works fine. Anyway, I just ordered the Gear S from Amazon and it'll be here tomorrow.

Yes. When the G-S' display is on you can say "Hi, Gear" and tell it what you want it to do. Also, if you're trying to input something using the keyboard you can invoke voice by long-pressing the settings button and selecting it as a text input option. Coming from a Gear I I'm impressed (so far) with S Voice's performance (speed and accuracy) compared to the OG.

Sort of. All the G-S' inbuilt apps are designed to work with their Samsung equivalents on your phone (EG: Samsung's Mail client, Messaging client, etc.). If you're using those the comprehensiveness of managing, creating, and responding to notifications is light years better on the Gear. If you're using GMail, Hangouts, etc., you'll get notifications in the same generic way all non-Samsung apps get them. They appear in a list you swipe left from the home screen to access. You'll see them and sometimes with great detail. But you won't be able to respond from your Gear. There's a "show on phone" icon in the notification message (as well as Smart Relay which displays what you're looking at on your Gear on your phone when you pick the latter up) but if you're a Google Apps user you're better off with Android Wear.

You can launch the voice memo app with S-Voice and it starts recording immediately. Whatever it records it transfers to the phone and also transcribes it. If I need to use whatever the note is in another app I just paste it there. For getting lists on my phone I use Exchange tasks. They show up in the calendar app. A lot of note/task apps for the Gear require their own companion app which I loathe. I want to use notes/tasks where I normally use them and not have to introduce another app to keep track of just to get notes/tasks to my Gear. For those using Google's apps there are some third party apps in Samsung Gear Apps store but none seem too highly rated.
Bottom line is if you're an "all in" user of Google's stuff you're better off with Android Wear. If you're a MS/Samsung user you'll get a lot more functionality with the Gear family.
3) "Notepad+" app have keyboard and voice input to take note in Gear.
almost every other note app have a keyboard and voice input.
With "GearTasks" you can add Task/Note by keyboard or voice in Google Tasks.
I got the moto 360 for a few days then returned it to the store. Personally i think its a joke compared to the GS
In every way! Sure more google apps no doubt. But its a watch!!!
And the android wear system is horrible in my opinion. Tizen u get more controll. Gs beeing a phone on its own is a winner for me
Just the fact that i can leave my phone at home and get all my notifications and calls fowarded to the watch is what makes the Gear S miles ahead of any other wearable in my opinion...including the apple watch. And if set up correctly it does it all seamlessly
I was on the fence of getting a Gear S because I primarily use hangouts (SMS integrated) as my primary messaging platform. I was aware I'd be able to receive messages on my watch, but not be able to respond. However upon getting my watch and setting it up. I got a hangouts message, swiped to the left, clicked the three dots.. To my surprise I had the option to REPLY or DISMISS. Replying works fantastic with either the preset messages, keyboard, or voice input, and SENDS THE MESSAGE OVER DATA! ( Not even SMS.) This is absolutely fantastic. I figured I'd post this here because I was looking tirelessly for concrete evidence on this before making my purchase and was unable to find any. It's also worth nothing, that if i dismiss the message from my phone, I lose the ability to reply to it from my watch.
I'm not using Gear S Notification extender app either, it's working natively.

Yes, viber and whatsapp work as well.. The only con would be that you can't initiate a new message from the watch like messages.. Also in viber notification, it allows to reply only the first time you see it.. Next time it shows only dismiss option..
I've noticed that i can ONLY reply if i have Android Wear installed also. I don't even have to open it, just have it installed. If I remove it, I lose the functionality to reply.
Good to know! I was using Gear Notification Extender (got my Gear S Thursday) but didn't like how it labeled everything as GNE. I look forward to using this. Now if I could just get the Gear S to last me a full 24 hours...
Great! Thanks for posting this. Some Google apps play nice with Samsung features.

Thanks for this info. I installed Andriod Wear and now I have the reply functionality for hangouts which I did not have prior to doing so.
Would anyone know how to get email notifications over 3g while the watch is "Remotely Connected" to a phone (Note 5 in my case)?
