ZeroLemon LG G3 8500mAh Extended Battery + Rugged ZeroShock Review - G3 Accessories

Hello everyone!
First and foremost, I would like to once again thank Zerolemon for sending me yet another product to review. As the title states, it's a 8500mAh extended battery by ZeroLemon for the LG G3 that also comes with its own ZeroShock rugged case.
I only do honest reviews to help companies improve both their current and future products, but to also give an idea to others of what to expect, but also what I think about the product and how well it works.
It has been around one week now since I received the Zerolemon for LG G3 and so far i'm very impressed! It's meeting up to its expectations, both with normal and heavy uses. I'm getting more than double the battery life (compared to the original LG G3 battery) on heavy use and the phone lasts me for about two whole days in standby mode with a full charge (that means charging the phone to 100% and then leave it without touching it until the battery is fully discharged). So as of now, I can't really complain about the performance as it is doing as expected. I previously did a review on the Zerolemon for the Nexus 5 and the material that they used for the case was actually worse than the one they used for the LG G3 case. The LG G3 case has more of a soft and bendable plastic compared to the Nexus 5 version which had more of a stiff/harder plastic. The ports are much more convenient to use on the LG G3 due to the softer plastic material, on the Nexus 5 on the other hand, the plastic seems to be stiffer so the port protection plugs tend to bend back after a few uses and hardly stay back in place (I found that to be very annoying!). All the buttons work like a charm (like always, so far on all the Zerolemon products that I’ve had).
Here are the PROS and CONS about the ZeroLemon for LG G3.
PROS:
* Good grip! Almost impossible to have the phone slip out of your hand(s).
* Does a good job taking a beating! You can basically drop it without worrying that it will break. Just like they state “Double Corner Technology to reduce shock from natural drop angles”. However, it might still shatter the screen on impact since it’s glass.
* The phone lasts more than twice as long! Battery feels like a thing of the past and the least of my concern both after normal and heavy use.
* The port protection plugs are doing an amazing job due to the quality and is no longer a pain to deal with! If it takes softer plastic for better performance, then please stick with that as I’m very pleased.
CONS:
* Too thick? It doesn't feel that comfortable to walk around with and after a while it will leave a mark on my jeans. The phone is clearly sticking out on my jeans (I also have the Zerolemon for the LG G4 that I purchased which has the same problem when it comes to thickness). I do understand that the thickness is mostly because of the battery size and the way that the phone was made, but I think that we can all agree on thinner batteries that does about the same job by taking less volume and possibly more area (kind of like the Zerolemon batteries for the Samsung S6).
* Heavy. This is not Zerolemon’s fault, but it's still a CON in general. I personally wouldn't like my phone to become heavier, bigger and/or thicker just so that I can get more out of the phone. I personally hate limits and like to get as much as possible from a phone with as little weight and thickness (I would say size, but that doesn't completely apply since screen size is important).
I personally can’t wait until Zerolemon releases an extended battery for the LG G5! 
If there are any questions that you have or if there is something that you feel like I missed mentioning, then please feel free to leave a comment below.
Please support Zerolemon so that they can keep making great products for our phones as most of their products are worth it!

can you post a screenshot of SOT of your usage with this battery here.with heavy and normal usage plz

I've been using this ZeroLemon extended battery for my LG G3 for almost 6 months now and I liked it very much. Not only it extends my phone's battery life, but most especially, it resolved my G3's "rebooting" issue. After using my G3 for more than a year, I noticed that my phone reboots several times in a day. Most of the time, its when I use the camera and when I open several apps at the same time. After I changed my original LG battery to this ZeroLemon extended battery, I never encountered this same issue anymore.
However, the CONS for me when using this extended battery are the bulkiness and most importantly, you will lose your phone's NFC feature.

This product is great. I get my nfc and wireless charging back on my phone by removing the nfc and wireless charging receiver off my original case and attached it at the back of my phone. I was to purchase a receiver online but I was thinking that there might be compatiblity issues so why not use the original one. I also bought an I-ring and placed it on the bottom part of the phone (because of wireless charging) so that holding on to a bulkier phone wouldnt be much of a problem. =)

My Zerolemon's charger port flap already broke after a year.

How can i get one? Am in Nigeria

Ive had this battery for about a year now and have to say that the battery cells are surprisingly low quality. Mine started degrading after close to 250 charge cycles and now I can barely manage 4hr SOT with this thing. When I first got it I could easily push 10Hr SOT.

After a year I'm still getting between 10 and 14 hours of SOT depending on usage. I think you just got a bad battery. Either that or something is wrong with the phone.

I had this zerolemon battery as well. I thought it might be a good idea for australia to have a long lasting battery. Problem is that my g3 refused to recognise the batterie. I always got a message after booting " no genuine batterie, will shutdown to prevent damage".
I told zerolemon about the problem (seems to be a well known problem) and i did try the "trick" to slide it in slowly with some pressure to make sure all pins got contact, but it didnt help.
Their customer support is hopeless, at least in my case. I didnt get my money back and so i left a bad rating on amazon as well.
I ended up buying a cheap heliotion batterie from aliexpress and this one works amazing, just 27a$ and 8500mah. It lasts between 3 and 4 days, medium to heavy usage.

Cheap, seemingly legit, extended life battery

Now that I'm using Android and my phone's life has been extended, I wanted to extend its battery life too. Branded extended life batteries are really expensive at retail. Seidio and mugen both sell 3000+mah for something like $80. HTC sells a smaller 2150 for around $40.
According to batteryboss.org, HTC's 2150 battery (rhod170) is pretty much the only battery that meets its mah rating, so I went hunting for a good price on one. Found this one for $5 shipped, or $7.51 for two if you want to better your odds. Figured it was either fake or used or otherwise had issues, but I got mine in the mail and it has zero contact wear and looks the spitting image of the legit rhod170. Seller has 5 left at the time of this posting. You can easily find other batteries advertised as rhod170 for $10 shipped, but it's always anyone's guess if they're legit or not. I had to roll the dice with no idea, and I thought someone else would appreciate hearing that this particular seller shipped 2 rhod170s that very much appear to be legit. Took about 1 week to receive from NY.
You need the extended cover to go with it. The cheapest I could find was from batteries4less, which you can shave another 10% off with save10 coupon code. It does look exactly like the OEM, with both HTC and verizon branding, however my particular one bulges a little in the middle when attached, like it isn't latching as well there. It isn't really noticeable unless you're looking for it, and it could be the fault of one of the drops my phone has taken over the years. Shipped quick, maybe 3 business days.
With both battery and cover, YMMV. I won't know for a couple of days at least what the lifespan is. And I'm still looking for a program that I can use to get accurate, easy-to-compare bench information from. Suggestions on that front are welcome. My original battery 1500 mah battery has been in use nearly 24/7 for almost 2 years. I'm not sure a comparison to that would be helpful to anyone.
See (someone else's) pictures here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=578388&page=2
How much longer is the battery working?
Since my last battery was in use for almost 2 years, I'm not sure comparison to it is worth anything. Battery life was atrocious. I basically kept it perpetually plugged in with just a few hours a day away from an outlet of some sort. I had cables everywhere to keep it charged. Now I can go 2 days of moderate use without plugging it in. I'm very pleased, especially given the price.
Couple of months ago, i bought the rhod 170 from ebay, using it since than, but to be honestly, the batterylife isnt much longer than the original one.
I think i have bought a FAKE one, this one is RED ( not black like at the picture )
See picture below.

5usd is very cheap ( maybe too cheap ) are you sure it is orginal htc battery, and no chinese garbage?
This website had the same battery

It looks like the orginal htc battery, you can also look to the video with the guy who looks like he woke up couple of seconds ago, and inmediately started making the video. The website you gave is 6 times cheaper.. isnt that a little bit
suspiciously?

I have no new information. Mine still looks real and it still gives me better battery life than my OEM 1500 ever did, even though XDAndroid isn't as battery friendly as winmo.
If you're considering grabbing one of the same, you're gambling, just a little less than if you got a similarly priced rhod170 from a seller with no positive feedback yet. You can hedge a little more by buying 2 and hoping at least one works to spec. If you want a guarantee, you'll have pay $40ish to a well-known outfit that takes returns.
The cover on the picture you posted looks very thick, thicker than you actually need.
I bought this one
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HTC-TOUCH-P...ccessories&hash=item23148ba3ce#ht_1765wt_1397
Its a high quality cover, and its smaller than the one you showed. No need to carry a ticker phone if it can be smaller . it fits the 2150 mah battery perfect
Looks the same thickness to me (though black is a slimming color), and there's no spare room in mine. Both are made by HTC, it's just the one you got was designed for the GSM while mine was CDMA.
I have ordered 2 pieces. lets see what it gives me. Do you have any information about how to use it first time ? ( fully charge ) downcharge etc..

I've read varying views on that. Lithium Ion batteries like these don't have memory effect, however, there might still be metering issues (relating your phone's ability to measure how much battery power is actually left). In android, I used a utility that wiped out past information collected on my 1500mah (don't know if there is a winmo analog) and did a full charge and full discharge right off the bat. Since then, I've kept it topped off as there is unanimous agreement that you shouldn't discharge lions often.
That's what I did, but I can't promise it's the best way. I have no inside information, that's just what I've culled from contradictory sources.
Do they also ship to the netherlands?
I couldn't tell ya, but since the particular seller I linked is out of stock of the batteries, I'm not sure it matters.
i like chichitec's slim extended battery, bought 2 of them with a wall chager for $30 a while back, 1900mAh each. One of them lasts me 2 days but I full charge at night out of habit and not wanting to be stuck without phone on 2nd day even though I only reach 60-70% after first day lol
fortunz, i see you have a rhod500, do you know if that battery works with a rhod400 as well?
---------- Post added at 07:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:29 PM ----------
Correct me if I'm wrong - but after searching, it appears the answer is yes.
Would the BTE6875 be equivalent to the RHOD170?
My 2 cents
Mugen batteries are the best. They are the only extended slim batteries I have ever tried that actually live up to the name extended and outperform the stock batt. I have had 4 of their batteries for various devices and this week I just got the first for my Rhod and what a difference! Don't know why I waited so long to get one... I guess the rhod was just supposed to tie me over til WP7 came out... but now it looks like I'm trying to hold out for windows 8 (or 64bit cpu).
At any rate you can try to find a good one on Ebay for $10 and buy 4 different ones in the process, or you can do what I would recommend and spend $35 just buy Mugen.

They have links for 4 diff models too!

[Q] Rezound Standard Battery Compared to Touch Pro 2 Standard Battery?

This IS a Rezound question.
I have a Touch Pro 2 and am getting a Rezound (can't pass up $79 from VZW right now). I've heard complaints about the Rezound's less-than-optimal battery life, but I realize complaints of that nature are relative. So, my question is:
Is the Rezound standard battery life (on a single charge) similar to, better, or worse than a Touch Pro 2's standard battery?
Clarification: I use phone, text, push e-mail, lite web (perusing news over lunch when I'm alone; let's put it this way: I currently only use between 30Mb and 50Mb per month!), listen to device-based music (mostly while in the car and on charger). I don't need multiple days on a single charge. I'm asking because I would like to order a Seidio Active case/holster to arrive simultaneously with the Rezound, but am trying to get a heads up because if I can help it, I really don't want to have to order an extended battery and extended battery case/holster, and end up lugging around a monster-sized device (can you say "transportable phone in a bag"?). Yikes!
I would say with that amount of usage you should get a days use out of it. There are a lot of people around here that get a solid 12-14 out of the standard battery. I know I can't, but I am a heavy user.
I bought an extra standard battery and a battery charger and I always make it though the day I average 2.1 hours screen on time per battery
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA
On standard you'll get one day easy. I get through an average day with tons of texting, web browsing and tethering and still have battery to spare. All of this is with 2 and a half hours screen time minimum.
I have a mint TouchPro 2 in my collection.
I absolutely loved that phone but battery life wasn't one of it's strong points.
I think the Rezound standard battery is better, but I always use the extended battery that lasts forever.
Some days I still miss my Touch Pro 2.... best keyboard I have ever used on a smartphone... but Android called my name and XDAndroid wasn't cutting it.
HTC needs to release a kick ass slider on Verizon. Nuff said.
I wish they would. I miss having a phone with a qwerty. I *almost* considered the D4 because of it. But I can't stand Moto horrible DEV policy.
Thanks everyone for the replies. Based on all of your replies, I think the standard battery should suffice for my needs. I didn't think HTC would release a phone that does not have a reasonable battery life. Sure, it might not be enough for heavy use (is any battery enough?), but I figured it HAS to last at least the majority of a waking day.
I ordered the holster combo for the standard battery.
In regards to lack of a physical keyboard, I expect to be sorely disappointed in that area because I have wide fingers, and onscreen keyboards are a real challenge for me. In fact, although the best at the time, the Touch Pro 2's slide-out keyboard was difficult for me to type on at times, especially while driving. My only hope is that with such a wide screen, I might have a bit of a reprieve in landscape mode on the Rezound, but probably wishful thinking.

Me, too, but HTC is the only Android phone with sync to Outlook built in, and that's important to me (and needless to say, millions of other users!). I HATE Google because of that "conspiracy".

htc doesn't have a wide screen due to the aspect ratio. Tbolt has a wider screen.
Best thing you can do for keyboard is try swiftkey pro and swype. Try the swypes from here:
http://jbthemes.com/djdarkknight/daswypethemes/
They are larger on the screen than the official swype, just have to swype slower than some like.
I agree about the Touch Pro 2 having the best qwerty keypad. My last phone was a TP2. I had rocket thumbs on that thing. If it werent for the mic failing on it, id still be using it. Granted it wasnt all that fast but it served its job well. As for battery life, ummm well the Touch Pro 2 had much better battery life stock than the Rezound does. And yes, I used my TP2 heavily. I got about 8 or 9 hours on heavy use on the TP2. The Rezound, well ....the battery life is disappointing.. 2.5 - 4 hours max on heavy use, even in power saver mode and the screen backlight manually turned down to like 8%. Ive had it since December and I really want to get the extended battery. Im tired of having to plug in to chargers 2 or 3 times a day. Its ridiculous.
Wow, I can't believe the battery life is so short on this thing. Like I said, I am usually in a position to plug in often enough, but I can see why an extended battery would be handy. But, I wonder how thick this thing would become then. Right now, I have the Seidio Active Case and Holster Combo. Compared to the TP2, also fitted with a Seidio case, my Rezound is only about 1/4" thinner than the TP2. Anyone have a pic of a Rezound with an extended battery fitted with a Seidio Extended Active Case?
Edit: Never mind, there is no such thing!

Extended Battery Packs

I'm keeping an eye out for the availability of some power jacket extended battery packs.
Below are a couple of examples of solutions that are available for the standard Xperia Z.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bearcXdXdAc
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=6rE0Z0yczws
The first one is a generic Chinease one that is about availiable on ebay for about $25
The second one is the official mugen one that has recently come out.
Personally I think I prefer the cheep Chinese one. Anyway its all academic at the moment because there are no solutions out yet for the Ultra. Its pretty new out mind so I suspect that when the LTE models launch globally we will see such solutions. :good:
Would you consider using such a solution for your Ultra?
These stuffs does give the phone some extra weight, some may like it for easier handling due to it having more weight but kinds of defeats the purpose of the ZU design.
I'm currently using a 15000mAh powerbank with 2.1A and 1A output options.

You're talking to a man who has a 9000mAH Zerolemon battery on his Note 2
Each to his own of course but my personal preference is to have a powerjacket attached to the device rather than carry around a separate power bank.

Haha no worries, I owned one of the powerjackets for my Note 2 or was it S3, I'm fine with it but just speaking out generally since many users are going for thinner and thinner designs
I generally don't mind added thickness and weight, phones these days are going so thin and light, it makes me feel insecure holding them lol.

Yeah, Its just a shame they didn't see fit to make a bit thicker and go for a 4000 mAh battery.

I was kind of excited when you posted this thread but when I saw the battery capacity and I went "mehhhh"
Cos anything equal to or less than the phone's own capacity.. is a little on the low side. Most of the time we will use the phone and use the power jack at the same time, which means even if it's equal to the phone's 3000mAh it would probably be able to charge it from 1% to say 50% only. Still useful in emergency times (beggars can't be choosers) but like you said, maybe 4000-5000mAh may be a better option considering these cheap China makes usually overstate their capacity and the battery degrades rather fast too.

Lighter, lower capacity battery?

Curious if anyone knows of a lower capacity battery for the N3 or a compatible battery from a different phone? I'm coming from a GS4, and the extra weight of the Note is unwelcome, so I figure I could shave some weight off if I could find a smaller battery. I'm rarely away from a charger long enough for battery life to matter. Considering the 2600mAh of the S4 was roughly double what I need 95% of the time, it would be awesome if there were a compatible battery in the 1200-2000mAh range for the Note3. Doubtful such a thing exists, but maybe someone here knows otherwise? A Note3 with weight comparable to the S4 would be really sweet.
Thanks!

You are the very first to look for a lower capacity battery.... there are loads on ebay, though they may not be lighter. Just look for Note 3 third party battery on ebay which states their capacity as the same as the original. I am sure their capacity will be less.
This is a very light phone, if you think it's heavy try the new HTC one and think again. Even if you replace the battery with a smaller one, the difference will be negligible. Very negligible.

Funny, I found this post right after posting: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2481389
This is exactly what I'm seeking: a smaller battery from a different device that is electrically compatible with the Note3. I was never able to find one that fit my S4. The 1750mAh one in the above post would shave about 2/3 an ounce off the Note, bringing it nearly to S5 weight. I do realize the Note is by far the lightest phone at anywhere near the screen size, but it is still about 30% heavier than my S4 - which is also the lightest 5" phone. I usually carry my phone in a shirt pocket, where the extra weight is more noticeable than in pants pockets. Two-thirds of an ounce would definitely be noticeable. Could also be the difference in whether a phone breaks when dropped, due to less mass during impact.

Keep in mind there is a 0.1V difference... this means nothing in terms of larger devices but we are talking cell phones here... smaller device... you will have to test it for a while... see how your device is effected. Either your battery will take the hit or the phone. The user who tried this reported longer use then he got from his Nexus phone but who knows.
Thanks, SladeZero. If I get the Note3 (most likely will) I will look for smaller batteries with the same 3.8v as the Note. Hopefully these exist and are OK to use.

[Q] Oneplus one comapred to HAM2

Hello,
I am thinking of buying a new phone for my dad. I already have the HAM2 and I have been really satisfied with it particularly its battery life. I have never had to worry about my phone's battery draining which used to be a huge burden.
I'm aware that 1+1 has specs that are superior to the HAM2 and all that come just at the additional cost of $50.
Here are the things I would like to know about the 1+1 before I commit myself :
1. Battery Life - The 1+1 comes with a 3100mAh battery while the HAM2 comes with a 3900mAh. I'm not a heavy phone user. I usually charge my HAM2 every 4 days. Using proportionality, the 3100mAh battery should last for 3 days if the 3900mAh lasts for 4 days. But, obviously, I didn't take into account that the 1+1 has a 2.5GHz processor (compared to the 1.6GHz) and also a higher resolution which might further lower the battery life.
2. Heating - I used to own a samsung S3 own and I could used it to fry an egg. That was how hot it used to get. I've never had any heating issues with the HAM2 even when its compared to the far more expensive S5.
Has anyone here used the 1+1 and can comment on the two points above and also any other reason why I should buy the HAM2 instead of the 1+1?

But, obviously, I didn't take into account that the 1+1 has a 2.5GHz processor (compared to the 1.6GHz) and also a higher resolution which might further lower the battery life.
2. Heating - I used to own a samsung S3 own and I could used it to fry an egg. That was how hot it used to get. I've never had any heating issues with the HAM2 even when its compared to the far more expensive S5.
Has anyone here used the 1+1 and can comment on the two points above and also any other reason why I should buy the HAM2 instead of the 1+1?

Had both, kept the Ham2, sold the One. NOTHING wrong with it, but I had the Ham2 for over a week before I finally got the invite for the One (first week of July). I wasn't sure if I would like the "low specs" of the Ham2, but, it's solid performance, the bigger screen and that awesome battery life won me over. My OnePlus also had the "yellow screen" issue, which I resolved myself by a combination of a UV light and running it from time to time. Sold it to one of my best friends and she absolutely loves it. I came to the conclusion that you don't need a high end device to have a good experience. Couple a great screen, a good processors and an incredible battery, win win. I've had no issues running any app on my device, but I'm not into 3D games or any games, just apps that I use for work. Either device will work for you. Depending on the age of your father, he might prefer the larger screen and size of the Ham2, but on the other hand, as you know, it's a BEAST, and might prefer the smaller size of the OnePlus. Either way, it's a win win.
Lol, my dad was tempted to buy a HAM2 but bought a 1+1 on one of its "no invite necessary" days.
Generic answer, but it all comes down to what he wants. The 1+1 is a great phone at a great price making it great value, although it has a smaller screen (which may be a plus) and battery. The HAM2 is probably the best of its kind, save for the Nexus 6, but its battery destroys everything else out there.
I had the 1+1 for 4 months before getting the HAM2. I needed to move off the one plus because my company uses airwatch for corporate email and it didnt like cyanogen at all. Even though the one plus wasnt rooted... it showed up as compromised because of cyanogen. so I went looking and got the HAM2. I love it... and people ask me all the time if I wish i could still use the one plus. Answer: no... the screen size and battery life of the HAM2 is awesome... I dont need 1080p resolution either.. i dont even notice it. the HAM2 does everything i need it to do including playing some games.
Just my $.02
