I've this phone and I would like to update it to the latest Android version possible, I see there is a 5.1.1 lollipop, does it work on this phone?

Hi, I'm back here after a number of years with my Xperia Play, I need some help flashing/rooting/modifying my Xperia Mini Pro to the latest version of Android.
I have many questions, the main reason I want to upgrade is to get the latest apps only available with newer versions of Android such as Vine.
Are there any stable ROMs that anyone could recommend specifically for the Xperia Mini Pro? As far as I know the version of android I'm running (2.3.4, kernel v 2.6.32.9-perf, 4.0.2.A.0.62 build) has not been touched, do I begin with rooting before flashing? Also, how do I go about backing up my data?
First of all, there's no best rom like stated here
If you want official ics, flash the stock ics rom and root it using this tool

I like the Asus stock android, but would like to try android 4.2 or newer.

Since 2 weeks my Xperia p battery drain fastly.don't even stay ON for 10 mins after fully charged ,i think the problem is with software now the version is 4.4.4

cynogenmode version 11-20141022 unofficial nypon
i want to go back to original firmware version
someone please help me to which firmware Xperia P have the original official version till released and where did i get it if its here in xda please provide me link and also how to flash it . i'm asking it becoz i tried one and failed.:crying:

Latest firmware for XP is 6.2.A.1.100 Android 4.1.2.
I have 6.1.1.b.1.75 ICS 4.0.4 uploaded to see if it solves the problem.

First of all I have to tell you that I am not a professional programmer or super user. I am about to root my phone (Android 5.1). Lot of thanks to @bigrammy !!!!
Is it possible to install a custom ROM on it like old Cyanogenmod or new LineageOS? Have you guys tried it? Which version of OS should I go for? I see that LineageOS is apparently not supported for Xperia C5. What about other ROMS?
