Hello my phone is dropping calls very frequently (when someone calls me the operator says I don't have network). In my phone the signal is OK with 4 bars! My phone has latest 14s from and I have installed Google play and, twrp and root. The problem seems to be gone if i change network type to 3g.Any ideas?
I have figured out that when in 4G the phone constantly loosing signal and finds it again, that is why is dropping incoming calls, also the 4G speed is low compared with other phones which are side by side
hi i too have similar problem with constant signal switching and even disconnections
any fix for this?
I have searched everywhere and didn't find any fix, someone said that he has put his sim in tray 2 and things are better.
this is what i have done so far...
-got a replacement sim, placed it in sim2
-flashed latest stock from letv
-flashed back to CUOCO v23
-installed v24, v25 updates
so far no too bad its getting better day by day guess i'll ride it out see how it goes
I believe that maybe it is a problem with the band's.Here in Greece we have LTE in 800,1900 and 2600 MHz and the phone has problem. The provider use different bands in different areas. Some areas covered with 2 bands simultaneously. The x820 has limited band support compared with x821 (India version) so I believe the phone can't switch because doesn't support all of them.
i think u may be right, it wasnt happening as much at home as i may have only locked on to one tower, but at work in the cbd its crazy, does seem like its arguing with the radio bands with it constantly switching around, hopefully they'll release a port of the indian rom for the x820 like they did with the 1s, its getting pretty annoying

i jus forced it to use 3G only n seem stable so far, i dont need 4g/lte at work anyways lol, this is what i did
-in engineering menu put it as CDMA only
-put network priority to 3G(this will not work without putting it the CDMA first)
-turn off ENHANCED 4G mode
so far full reception in 3g and no dropouts/disconnections
X820 4g signal issue

Hi bro, u also from singapore? i am planning to buy this phone in a day or so. Want to make sure there is no signal issue. From the specs, it has 2/3 lte bands.
im from Australia bud i had the letv 1s before and had no issues with signal only now with the max2
oh an confirmed band 3, as when it did decide to connect to 4g it was using BAND 3
Same here in Netherlands, very annoying.. Any good fix for this?

Probably some sort of software issue regarding the 3g network, because when set on 3g priority the signal switching on and off like crazy. Have anyone tried to turn of data? And we who live in the western world have a huge 2g and 3g network that we still use for calls. Not like China or India who jumped right onto the higher speeds. I mean if you buy a phone direct from one of the carriers in your country you will have a device that is optimized for that network. U will not if you import from China regardless full band spec. We have to hope for a fix for next update.

I have the same problem in Belgium. How fix the issue?
My x820 le max 2 works absolutely perfect with the 4g here in the Netherlands, as it supports almost all bands worldwide. It almost switches back to 3g.
Nobody can help us?
Heyyo, sorry for very late reply... have any of you tested with the latest modem firmware files flash via TWRP?
The very latest is "MODEM_446D_V.00050" which is from the developer branch, or you can try out "MODEM_CN_26S_05.09_V.00033"
Here's where you can download them from (might want to use your favorite website translator)

Hi there,
I know there are no options to turn off just 4G in the stock rom (without also disabling 3G), so I was wondering, is there an option to use only 3G and not 4G in any of the custom roms?
If not, can we do this by using *#*#4636#*#* options?
Thanks...

No this is not possible. The reason you can turn off 4G on sprint phones is because their 4G is wimax while 3g is cdma so they are completely different technologies. Tmo, on the other hand, is using the same technology as 3g just basically upping the available bandwidth on 3g towers. I guess it may be possible for someone to modify a rom (or possibly it would be the kernel) to run only on 3g but then the phone would not be capable of 4G at all.
Not sure why you would want to anyway as, since it uses the same network, the only thing that would change is slower Internet. It would not improve battery life over just running on 4G.

I have crap reception in my building. I went into network and selected WCDMA only. So it never tried to do Edge. Amazingly my phone now stays with at least 2 bars of 4G in my building and the battery lasts longer because it is not always switching between. I swear it just wanted to go to EDGE all the time, but obviously there is a 4G signal here... I toggle off GPS and Auto Sync while I am at work on the quicksense it is a vast battery improvement.

Actually, I have found with phones in the past that the EDGE modem does use far less power, if it is possible to turn off the 3G/4G. But I'm still awaiting my Amaze and can't say if there are any options for this - probably not.
The reason I am asking this is because I want to use my phone in Turkey, and since there is no 4G here, I can only use 3G...
So then my question becomes; can I use this phone without problems?

Looking at the specs, it appears that the phone should support the international 3g signal. However I'm not sure if there is an international model. If not, the phone would have to be unlocked to access 3g.

BTW, I suggest that you update your XDA profile to include your country, so people can know where you are located - it can make a difference in the answers you get. For example, my posts show that I am on T-Mobile and here in the US.
So, if I understand correctly, with phones that use 4G WiMAX or LTE, 4g CAN be turned off since it is a separate system from 3G. But in phones that use 4G as an upgraded version of 3G, if 4G is disabled, so is 3G..?
I just fear that, the phone (unlocked) will constantly look for a 4G signal when used in Turkey, and it won't be able to find it, and so not connect properly...
I've used 2G in the last two days just to tried out baterry without 4G. What I did is go to Setting=>Wireless&Networks=>Mobile Networks=>Network Mode and chose GSM only - that gave me 2G signal only
You can use several apps to get a shortcut which lead you straight to Networks to save you some clicks: Better Cut, Bar Control, WidgetSoid (give you a toogle on home screen to switch) ect ....

There is no difference between 3g and 4g - the modem is in HSPDA mode either way. It just depends on the cell tower infrastructure as to which speed is achieved.
There is no way to "disable" 4g and use 3g only. It IS possible to disable 3g and use only 2g.

My wife and I are currently visiting China and fortunately T-Mobile rolled out the unlimited texting and data roaming 2G. I'm right beside her getting only E while she has 2G, what gives? I'm rooted she is not, I don't think that would matter.

There could be multiple reasons. For starters, I'm not sure you would get 3G, because I'm assuming the free data is the slowest speed possible. That being said, and I could be wrong, the main difference you are seeing there I am assuming is because you are on different carriers. T-mo uses GSM technology for 2G, and there are two carriers in China that use GSM, China Mobile and China Unicom. My experience with the two generally has been that China Mobile has better signal everywhere. It's kinda like the AT&T and T-mobile of China. So a possible explanation would be that you are on China Mobile's network and she is on China Unicom, which would potentially explain the difference. Of course, it could also just be a coincidence that this happened. I have seen friends sit right beside me with an HTC One and get 4G while my LTE is running with full bars....
Thank you for the tip! I changed the preferred carrier to China Unicom on my HTC One and the icon went to H. I saw my wife's One was also on the other network so I selected China Unicom as well and hers changed to 4G. Though we're not getting the normal speeds it seems to better.
Are we really receiving 2G though the phones say otherwise, like the iPhone 4 says iPhone 4 says 4G but is really only capable of 3G speeds?

Hello,
From what i understand E=2G, so my question would be are one of you running a custom rom, perhaps from a european base(more likely you)? The way data is scalled is simple with T-Mobile, although they change a few things to make it better. This is generally how it goes. Hope this helps.
GPRS(G)=1G
EDGE(E)=2G
3G=3G
HSPDA+(H)=4G

This is my second ZTE Axon 7 and I've had it for 5 days. I am located in the UK. The first was returned to Amazon UK due to short battery life in early August.
This one was purchased from Amazon Germany.
When I get an LTE/4G signal on my EE UK mobile SIM in my new AXON it can stay connected to 4G for several hours.
This is sitting at the same location in the office where I work, suddenly it then goes straight to slow GSM and stays on it for some time. Then it may go back to 4G after some time.
Whereas the same EE SIM inserted in my OnePlus 2 phone in the same location gives a consistent LTE/4G signal all the time.
Since the AXONi can maintain a 4G signal for several hours surely that implies the 4G reception hardware is OK.
I hope a firmware fix is possible to improve the reception?
No I don't think that this fact alone would mean any problem. All my other phones behaved in similar way in my office. Whether a phone can stay connected to a tower depends not just on the phone. Rather it depends on the provider. For instance if it think that other needs more bandwidth in that moment it can drop you to another tower. I don't know the full details but I know that there is sophisticated logic behind this behavior. On the other hand I don't want to stay that everything is OK with the software in Axon.
This phone has signal strength issues compare the db to another phone you will see it is much worse on Axon 7
People who don't have this problem are still taking the trouble to log in and write a little message telling people who do have the problem that they are imagining it or that all phones have signal issues. The person who told me it was quite normal that my phone was defective when I was asking about other people's experiences has posted quite a few times about this. Why? God knows, maybe nothing good on Netflix in his or her region.
You know, the ones that tell you they get 9 hours screen-on time when your battery drain, that professional photographers think the rubbish camera on such and such a phone is great and that they dropped their phone on concrete from ten feet up and it didn't smash...
Ignore them. I sent mine back because the signal was bad, booting me off LTE and on to Edge far too often. I'll buy it again in a while and see if I get a better one or even sooner if ZTE announces a fixes or admits they had quality control problems with a minority of units
I'm inclined to agree. There is a reception issue at least on some phones. Hard to know if it applies to all phones, with some people finding it good enough. I'm holding out for the next firmware update to see if it is worth buying again.

I have the A2017U on Straight Talk - buy the 99 cent "bring your own phone" sim card from the straight talk website. Once you put the sim card in it update the APN and (I cannot stress this enough) TURN OFF VOLTE in the settings menu. Far and away this is the best phone I have ever had as far as reception goes.

I had weak signal reception issues with VoLTE turned on - I think the phone just wouldn't switch over from LTE to HSPA with VoLTE on. Without it trying to use the VoLTE it switches over just fine. Since I shut off the VoLTE I can't find a spot anywhere I go now with no signal, and I go out into rural areas without reason for coverage in them A LOT. My Zenfone 2 use to lose signal all the time. My Axon 7 never seems to.
I just switched it off I'll shall see how it goes. Hopefully it works better than it did. I would like to stay with AT&T. The extra data is nice.

I'd like to say "yes", but have found out the hard way that it depends on exactly which part of AT&T's network you intend to use it on.
I created a thread which I haven't yet updated, which outlines some issues I had. Turns out that my X820 as well as a different LeEco X82X (can't remember - same model ) do NOT work with AT&T in my area at all, and I live very close to the antennae. However, when I travel out of town, the phones work great. AT&T can't seem to figure out why this part of their network is different, but something certainly is. YMMV.
At the moment, there doesn't seem to be a large enough sample size in the US to compare notes and find possible network issues with this phone.
I have it, and it works for me in North Florida in AT&T
Sent from my SM-N910T using Tapatalk
I have more info on my issue with this phone on AT&T, and it's an odd one. LTE works great, but if I am directly under the antennae, or within line of site of them, 3G shows full bars, but it does not work and I cannot place or receive a call. If I walk a block away, and have a building between the phone and the antennae, 3G works perfectly. If I initiate a call where it works, I can move back to LOS, and call does not drop. No other phone seems to have this issue, so there is something very different in the 3G implementation in these phones which is responsible for this.
I wish someone out there had an idea as to what is causing this. One of AT&T's network engineers, who witnessed this first-hand, is stumped and I'm short on ideas to remedy it.

I have two of these phones, and both have the issue I described above. If I were to guess, it probably has something to do with initial 3G handshake timing.
One of the phones is running Madsurfer's 21s. It may have been a dirty flash over stock China ROM, but I seem to recall that one being a clean flash (wife's phone, so I don't mess with it much.) The other is Small EUI by aurel V7, dirty flashed over Rom V6-X820 of Bshuy2003.
I have observed no real differences with regard to the 3G connectivity issue between either phone, with any firmware. I'm thinking it is something at a lower level which is causing this odd issue.
I haven't received my max2 yet but I have read through allot of these posts and I remember reading about using the #*#* code to force LTE and it helped mobile connections. Also I saw that 19s CN or 17s India eui has VoLTE support. Lastly I noticed that the posted 23s beta cooked eui that Steve Mars posted has new modem files. You may try that as well. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the info, but I think the issue runs pretty deep inside these phones. If I knew more about the hierarchy of the software/firmware, where network negotiations are concerned, I'd have a better idea where to look for a solution. But I can say that I have tried virtually every ROM and modem file available, and this odd behavior persists. It's possible that it's specific to my home site, but according to the engineer, AT&T's sites are pretty standardized. The fact that other phones don't exhibit it, tends to point to something deep inside the Max2 as being the culprit. It's an insidious problem, as one might not realize that there was an issue, unless one happens to be close to a tower, trying to unsuccessfully make or receive a call, with full bars showing.
IIRC, the iPhone also had some strange issues on the AT&T network in the early days, and it took some concerted effort between AT&T and Apple to get it sorted out. The chances of of something like that happening to solve issues with these phones is probably next to nil.
Randy do you have LTE on your account? Could it be the eNode trying to promote you onto a better link and the baseband failing that negotiation?

I do have LTE on my account. The phone is connected, by default, to LTE, and falls back to WCDMA when making a call as it should. I have monitored signal strengths throughout the process, and they are very high, due to to my proximity to the tower. Locking the phone to WCDMA makes no difference.
When the phone doesn't have line-of-sight to the tower, and/or that LOS is significantly obscured, the UMTS signal goes below -60dba and the phone works perfectly. Thinking the signal strength was the key, the output of the tower was artificially reduced to below that level, as a troubleshooting test. It still did not allow the phones to work on WCDMA to make calls, even though it still showed a 3G connection with full bars. I'm not a telcom engineer, but it really seems like a timing problem, where the reflected signals work, but signals received directly from the transmitter do not. Again, the problem exists only at the point where the 3G link is initiated, either by the handset or the tower. Once a call is established, that session works fine, no matter the proximity to the tower thereafter. But once moved into the areas of LOS to the tower with an active call session and I end the call, the phone can no longer make or receive calls in those areas.
Short answer: sorta

Alright so I have been using this phone for about 6 months and it kinda sorta does. I am using the x820 one btw. I get about 80% up time with this phone. I can't really make or receive calls without the phone dropping them within the 1st minute. Let me explain further. So firstly, when I am on LTE (if not on 4G (I'll explain later)), and try and make a call, I will usually get switched over to 4G and then as the call is attempting it will completely lose service and say I can't complete the call. Then after that attempt, I will usually get my service back. And it will keep doing that unless I get lucky then if I actually can make a call then I will be lucky if I get a full minute or 2 before the call drops because of loss of service. Now for the later explanation. So basically I have noticed just because I am supposed to get LTE doesn't mean you will get the service. Also you will drop service a bunch and it gets very aggravating! I have verified my results in FL, GA, and TN.
Is anyone else whos on sprint/TMobile having issues where the phone cant decide wether to connect to a sprint or TMobile tower? When im at my home i have a very weak TMobile 600mhz signal and a strong sprint band 41 signal due to the magic box. I also can pick up the band 25 signal the box uses and my phone refuses to just use the stronger faster sprint signal. It absolutely insists on using the TMobile signal. Is anyone having similar issues? Even on wifi its causing network interruptions so i have to reload a page several times to make it use the wifi.

Is anyone having similar issues? Even on wifi its causing network interruptions so i have to reload a page several times to make it use the wifi.

Mine jumps a lot but never connects to the magic box. I don't think it's enabled for B41? I have a Pixel 3XL that I activate (and deactivate my V60) when I'm at my camper which is where my MB lives.

Mine works with Band 41. Its a big one in the nearby city. It works with all sprint and TMobile bands. Its just prioritizing TMobile bands over sprint ones regardless of signal quality

I have no idea of this is related but.. I'm on T-Mobile, with T-Mobile home internet as well, and for the last several days my phone is having issues connecting and the home WiFi is doing the same thing. I'm in a rural area so my signal is weak, but it's been fluctuating WILDLY since the merger and sometimes it does seem like my phone is struggling trying to decide what to connect to. There's definitely something going on with the network at least in my area for the last 2 weeks for sure

Sounds like this will be happening until the transition is done/5G is more widespread. These are TMobile models. When mine was first turned on at the store it had the T-Mobile splash screen. The ability to access sprint towers was added via software update post merger. I figure once the 600mhz band is fully rolled out the issue will go away as a result of the signal being strong enough.
