Connectivity Issues with multiple roms - Verizon LG G3

I'm pretty tired of my LG G3 which I've owned now for a few months.
I started off on the stock Kitkat it came with. Connectivity with Verizon 4g was fine, but the phone overheated regularly.
Then I updated to Fulmics 5.2, which worked okay, but only gave me slow 3g data.
Next I reverted all the way back to stock 10b, and then tried Xdabebb's Stock 47a. The rom works fine, but 4g connectivity is ****! I get constant blinking triangles (roaming) even though roaming is turned off. Worse yet, I don't get phone calls or texts half the time, and it constantly loses data connection. I got a new sim card, which works fine in my Nexus 6, but fails to be consistent in my LG G3.
Here's my questions:
1. Is there a fix with XDAbebb's 47a? Should I reflash the 35b bootstack?
2. If XDAbebb's 47a is the problem, is there a ROM that people have had good Verizon experience on?
3. Or should I just sell my LG G3 and move onto another phone or go back to my nexus 6 (which I like but it's so huge!)
I don't want to waste a lot of more time on this.

Wasn't this already answered in your other thread?

Isn't your phone an international phone and not really the VS985? I'm only going by what was stated in the other thread where you were asking about getting Fulmics to work with your phone.

4G issues since Cloudy rom....any ideas?

So a few days back I decided to install cloudy and messed with the build.prop a little bit. I was having 3g and roaming issues so I decided to try jasmine v2. Same issues there as well. Then I went back to v1.1 and now I'm back on fully rooted stock. My problem is if I fully pull the battery, wait a few seconds, and then boot back up I am able to get 4g for about 10 seconds or so, after which time the phone always mysteriously jumps back to 3g and never leaves from there. Seriously weird. While I was having the issues with Cloudy I dialed *228 because I read something about updating the preferred roaming list (and looking back I realize I shouldn't have done this!), but I always get 4g for a few seconds after booting up still...it just always goes away. Anyone have any useful suggestions?
I'd stop by a verizon store or give them a call and get a new sim card.

I might be stuck doing this, as since Cloudy I've tried Jasmine 2.0, 1.1, the stock root deodex rom by Beans, all with normal wipes and advanced wipes prior to flashing. Lol I even used my Verizon to temporarily switch my phone line to an old crappy non-smartphone I have laying around and then back to the G3 thinking maybe possible that could somehow "restore" proper programming or something, all with no dice! Needless to say, it was a late night at that point.
Then I got to thinking, that maybe the full restore guide here on XDA (that I've used before) might do a more "full" restore than simply flashing a new rom. So I did that, and so far my issue appears to be fixed! More testing is still needed at this point, but if there's anyone who comes across similar issues, you might try that. I'll report back once I know for sure if this was the solution. Thanks!
You don't *228 a 4G phone, they update their PRLs, on their own, on boot. You may have fried your SIM card.

Yep...as the OP clearly says, looking back I realize I shouldn't have done that It didn't hurt my SIM card.....I'm not an expert by any means, but I feel like something must have somehow gotten seriously borked with the radio or something, I really don't know - all I know is using the "full restore to stock" instructions with the .tot and LG flash tool, everything is back up and running great again. Figured I'd share my experiences on the off chance anyone else has any similar issues!
So, have you re-done all the work to reinstall Cloudy ? If so, did the 4g to 3g drop problem return ? I am not sure from following thus threading the problem was with Cloudy.

I'm not sure exactly where the problem came in, whether from Cloudy or not, but I'm not refreshing it to find out lol, as I was still having definite drop to 3g and never return problems, along with it saying I was roaming during those times. I'm just gonna stick with the stability of the rooted stock US rom for now

[Q] Poor Note II throttled to death by verizon..or something, horrible 4G speeds!

Im not really sure what is going on but my Note II which used to get 25-30mb/s now gets at best about 1.5mb and more like .8 most of the time. To fix the problem I called verizon and swapped a previously working SIM card out of a Galaxy S3 and activated it in the Note II. Interestingly while the activation was happening I got between 4-6mb/s but could still not make calls. After the activation was complete I am back to piss-poor speeds which makes me think my account is being throttled.
I also swapped the SIM back into the Galaxy S3 and test speeds and they were identical to the Note II so I think the phone doesn't matter. Meanwhile, 2 feet to the left my wifes HTC One M8 is getting near 30mb/s download.
Is it the SIM or am I being throttled to death. The phone shows 4G properly and has great signal strength (4-5 bars). I also disassembled the phone and checked the antennas and connections and everything seemed good. Oh and I am totally rooted running SR1 KitKat ROM which is touchwiz stock based and never gave me issues before.
So stuck and unhappy.:crying: Any help is much appreciated.
In case anyone runs into this type of thing. The fix ended up being a total ODIN back to stock/locked 4.12. Then I ran Casual, unlocked everything, and loaded SR1 4.4.2 and after booting everything is perfect. Nice fast speeds again.
According to other posts flashing tons of ROMs, Ie, TW, AOSP, CM, etc can eventually lead to this slow 4G behavior. The fix is Odin back to 4.12 stock and Re-unlock!

I'm new to the S2... my vs980 got crushed and this thing is a learning curve.
It does WIERD ****! Like, it demands I turn on "Data" to send a picture MMS, or recieve a group message , or God Forbid somebody on iphone (which I think sends mms by default) send me MMS.
I mean, it demands mobile data when me Wifi is "ON and STRONG"
Is this a Samsung thing, I verizon thing, a ROM thing, and will rooting it and dropping somethine that's not BROKEN into it help?

[Q] Best way to Use LG G3 Without Service

I think this is the first time I have posted, even though I have been using xda for years. Anyway I bought this LG G3 from Swappa and low and behold it has an unpaid bill tied to it and cannot be activated with Ting and I don't have a Sprint account. I have no need to activate it since I use WiFi for everything. So I decided to keep it since I got a good deal and didn't want to wait to return and buy another for $50 more. Right now I am stock and have not attempted to root the device. I have rooted every other phone I have had, due to the software being really bad or outdated. This is the first phone I have had every had where I actually like the stock ROM that came with it(probably because of Lolipop and LG really taking Googles design sense.
My problem is that even though I keep the device in Airplane mode with WiFi on, the device of course attempts to connect to a network every time I power on.(I have to click emergency call and then home) Also the Sprint Data optimizer is using about 20% of my battery, probably searching for service it will never find.
So my question is, If I do decide to root the device. What would be the best ROM to use for my situation of no service? I prefer Stock Roms unless AOSP has a remote control, which I don't believe it does. Also do I really need to care whether I am on zv8 or zv4 since I do not have a connection to a network?
Also. Is there anyway to possibly get T-Mobile service on the LG G3 Sprint Variant? Even if it is a slow data connection.
Thank you if anyone has any answers to any of my questions.
(Check other post)
You can flash this ROM for GSM and check HERE for the remote stuff and other mods and tweaks.

LG G5 (RS988) loses network connection when placing phone calls, intermittent data

I was a gifted an LG G5 RS988 and successfully unlocked the bootloader using the LG's dev site and installed TWRP 3.2.3. After that, I flashed Revolution Remix 5.8.5 (RR-N-v5.8.5-20171203-rs988-Final.zip from here) and open_gapps-arm64-7.1-micro-20181229, seemingly without issue.
Everything worked flawlessly except the cellular network. It'd show connected to LTE (data even works sometimes when connected), but when trying to place a call, will drop to no service. Incoming calls go to voicemail, showing service or not. Rebooting or selecting "choose automatically" under network operators will usually reconnect to network, but offers no improvement otherwise. Toggling airplane mode sometimes also reconnects, but same symptoms afterwards.
The SIM card works fine in a Zenfone 2, Galaxy S3, and another G5. The problem G5 still behaves the same using another active SIM.
Searching for similar issues, most seem to be due to the phone losing the IMEI while flashing, but *#06# reports the correct IMEI, so I'm not sure that they're relevant.
I tried reflashing stock from the "COMPLETE" 21b ZIP here, but sympyoms persist.
Tried to use LGUP to refurbish the phone with RS98810h_01_0303.kdz from lg-firmwares.com, but once it started flashing the firmware, it reported that the KDZ file doesn't support refurbish mode. Flashing as an upgrade worked, but had the same problems.
Flashing an unofficial build of RR 6.2.1 for the RS988 seemed to be working better. More consistent data, and could actually get calls through sometimes and receive texts, but would still lose service when calling and miss incoming calls.
I'm not sure what to do with it anymore and could really use some help. Thanks in advance!
This is a long shot, but did you ever figure out what was going on with your LG G5? I've got one (also an RS988) running LineageOS 18.1 that's been exhibiting very similar problems for several months. At first I thought it was a failing SIM card, but turned out not to be the case. I've even switched providers in the meantime, but it's still having the same problems. Any ideas?
Hey, I know it's been a bit, but I figured in case you hadn't figured it out I'd let you both know that this is probably because of the 3G network shutdown. You'll have to contact your phone service and see if your phone can use VolTE, and if so, whether or not you need a new sim card to do so.
I got unlucky - my LG G5 H831 is pretty much toast. :/ Under GSMA it could use texting and data only, but when they switched me to GSMT to try and fix the no-calling issue, the texting stopped working too, and now I can only use data. And they can't switch me back to GSMA, because it lists my phone as incompatible, which it technically is.
It's not a huge loss, as I mainly used VoIP services anyway, but it's still unfortunate.
(But the phone still works fine otherwise, and I'm going to continue to use it until it doesn't.)

Messaging and Call issues when attempting to flash android 10 roms

I'm pretty new to both rooting and this website, so I apologize in advance for any newbie mistakes I'm gonna make.
Background:
I have a VS-996 which frankensteined and unlocked by following this post . After doing that I flashed pie and then flashed lineage os from here . That rom wasn't very stable and kept crashing, so I tried others. I wound up going with Havoc OS. I believe it was in 3.4 when I first flashed it. I've kept up with the updates up to 3.7.
The Problems:
Havoc OS works fine for me, very stable, except for some reason phone calls and messages(both sms and MMS) are spotty at best. Sometimes texts won't send at all, or they'll act like they sent but the text won't be recieved. Sometimes my phone will say I can make emergency calls only. Group messages and sending pictures don't seem to work at all, at any time. These issues seem most prevalent immediately after booting my phone up. Data works perfectly except sometimes when the phone doesn't like to register that the SIM is inserted for a little bit after booting up.
What I've tried:
I've tried reinstalling the rom.
I've tried installing different Android 10 roms.
I've tried going through the process again starting at the the Frankenstein method and going from there.
I've tried messing with the apn
If I flash back to a stock pie ROM everything goes back to working perfectly, and I'm using my sim in my old V20 while I try to sort this out, so I know the SIM is not to blame.
I've been unable to find anybody else with this particular problem, though that could just be because the problems cover so many different aspects that I'm not sure exactly how to search for answers.
Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Are you Verizon customer? You say you have VS996.
There's an LOS ROM bug for Verizon SIM card users where upon rebooting the phone you have to make a phone call first to then receive texts. This phone call "registers" the SIM card or whatever. Many people call their voicemail number to satisfy this requirement.
This bug affects all LOS-based ROMs.
Yes I am a verizon customer. I had noticed that making a phone call seemed to help things along when messages wouldn't send. I guess I managed to let my phone die or turn it off enough to hide the fact that it fixed me. Giving it a test just now it seems to be working correctly. I don't know if I'll be happy or mad if the solution turns out to be this simple.

Was noted extensively on LOS-16 ROMs, but not discussed as much with LOS-17 (Android 10) ROMs. But earlier this month someone in the Havoc 3.7 (LOS-17 based) thread did bring it up...

However, the larger problem is in six months you will not be able to use LOS-based custom ROMs with V30 on Verizon.
* As of December 31, 2020 Verizon is dropping 3G CDMA to repurpose bandwidth for 5G.
After that date, to make any phone calls on Verizon you will need VoLTE. No LOS-based custom ROMs have VoLTE. You will need stock Verizon firmware. It can be rooted stock firmware; you can use Magisk modules to add features -- but needs to be Verizon firmware for VoLTE.
* T-mobile users are in the same predicament.
In January 2021, T-mobile will be dropping 3G HSPA for same reasons. T-mobile users will need VoLTE, which only comes with V30 stock firmware. However, T-mobile is less stingy. They also allow US998 firmware to have VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling with T-mobile SIM. Whereas Verizon requires Verizon stock firmware, and it needs to have been activated on a phone with Verizon IMEI at some point.
* AT&T will also eventually drop 3G HSPA -- but not until February 2022 (18 months from now).
So, for U.S. V30 owners who wish to run custom ROMs a little longer, you should check out AT&T Prepaid. It's a lot cheaper than "regular" AT&T, but is only for people who own their phones.
18 months is a long time. Anything can happen in 18 months!
AT&T only gives VoLTE to AT&T IMEI phones, as well as iPhones and some other phones I would never own. I've never used an AT&T branded phone on AT&T. I'm an AT&T customer with three native US998 for myself, my wife, my mother -- so I'll cross that bridge when I come to it in February 2022. Will probably give my mother an AT&T V35. Maybe my wife, too. Also, LG may get their act together and produce a good phone fro the LG V70 or LG V80.
Any Verizon, T-mobile (and Sprint), and AT&T MVNOs (Straight Talk, Ting, etc.) will also be affected by these decisions.
I have a more extensive discussion of this issue here:
All U.S. V30/V3O+/V30S will need stock firmware, not LOS-based custom ROMs. When?
