Just got my phone back after a repair and it seems they have locked the bootloader and preventing me from unlocking it, what is the current method to root? I am on Marshmallow .575

Geez, that would suck if they relocked it. :/ Try to temporary root it using Kingroot, install LB recovery if you haven't already, and flash a systemless root file in recovery. Hope this helps.

What do you mean by Systemless root file? Is it Systemless Supersu?
Systemless method doesn't work on Locked Bootloader.
@K-NineHD
Easiest method to root is unlocking bootloader and flashing a custom kernel. But if you don't want to unlock BL, then either you have to downgrade firmware to Lollipop and then use Kingroot or Downgrade it to Kitkat and use built in root method provided by Flashtool(or towelroot), install recovery and then upgrade using Marshmallow prerooted firmware.
i love to downgrade to 4.4.2 (build number 314 is perfect and still available on xperifirm), so i use an older version of the XZDR that temporarily roots with towelroot, installs the recovery. when the phone reboots I just install a prerooted package of lollipop or marshmallow, all of this in about 3 minutes or less

I can't give you a specific link so here are some instructions:
Go to [NUT]'S official download website: http://nut.xperia-files.com/path/XZDualRecovery/Older_Releases
Download XZDR 2.8.21 and unpack on your computer. When your phone is already running on 4.4.2 turn on the USB Debugging and then execute the XZDR installer, choose towelroot method and connect the phone when asked to do so. The phone will reboot so its a good idea to copy the ROM or prerooted package you are going to use afterwards.

I'm afraid that we don't have "one click root" right now.
You would have to downgrade back to 4.4.4 (with root and custom recovery) and flash a pre-rooted 5.0
This guide worked for me.
Thanks but the thing is that i am allready in 5.0 and i don't have a rooted device....so...how can i di that downgrade in order to root it?

There is a section there when you are already on 5.0.
I too was already on 5.0 and no root but following this guide, I now have a rooted 5.0.1.
Basically, the steps are:
1) Unlock bootloader
2) Download 4.4.4 FTF and use Flash Tool to downgrade your phone
3) Root and install custom recovery on your downgraded phone (you should already be on 4.4.4 by this time)
4) Download 5.0.1 FTF and create a pre-rooted flashable 5.0 using prefCreator
5) Flash your pre-rooted 5.0
Read the guide, you can never get lost.
Thanks a lot!!

Hey guys!
Ive been trying to figure out how to go about rooting my tablet but since I am new at this stuff I just want to make sure I dont **** up
My questions are:
1. My tablet is 5.0.2 atm, as far as I know I have to downgrade to be able to root?
2. If I need to downgrade I believe I need a FTF file, I have a LTE version which is bought in sweden. Do I need a specifik FTF file for my country or can I use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2741233to downgrade my tablet?
3. Can i still use this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2792056 to root my device after I downgraded the firmware or is it outdated? If its outdated is there any updated guide I can use?
Any help is appreciated!

1. There is this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/one-click-root-tool-android-2-x-5-0-t3107461. But it ain´t give proper root and there is also some security concerns with it but your decision.
2. Yes. You need FTF file which is 4.4.2 firmware for you device. Latest rootable is 17.1.2.A.0.314. Here is download link for SGP 521 if you want. https://mega.co.nz/#!cN5ykLrL!0w38j4lWIHFm1rZdwexScG9Cpz2BghrSZPpLRkyTcL8 . However your link should work also. If you only use it for rooting it don´t have to be for your region.
3. Your link would work for rooting properly. However there is other methods too.
4. After you achieved root just install custom recovery for you device and flash latest prerooted firmware for your device with it and you are good.

There is no need to unlock bootloader if you just want to root your device. Bootloader unlocking is needed if you want to try custom kernels or roms that use custom kernels. And yes this work for your device also.

OK so with a locked bootloader I can downgrade to 4.4.2 for my region model root using kingroot..? Then install a custom recovery without having an unlocked bootloader then flash Pre rooted ftf lollipop ROM build. Is the updated kernel and firmware in the Pre rooted stock ROMs? Thanks.

Yes you can downgrade to 4.4.2 firmware with locked bootloader. After that you don´t need kingroot to root your device because @[NUT]´s dualrecovery pc installer can root your device before it install custom recovery. After that you can flash prerooted firmware (= .zip file) with custom recovery. Usually prerooted stock roms has whole firmware including kernel. Their also include SuperSu and custom recovery. And there is no need to unlock your bootloader in any step for this unless you want to do that.
OK so I flashed a ftf file from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3061431 I don't think its right as its for HK etc. A 4.4.2 ftf. 17.1.a.2.402 HK/sa/as/kw.
I was on 23.1.A.1.28 in the UK as O2 UK being the 4g network. But according to that thread the 23.1.a.1.28 I was on is generic HK so I'm confused. How can I get back to my original then? Thanks

OK thanks I did it without the ta partition like suggested but wasn't sure if it was 100% correct. Should all be fine though. I'm currently now rooted and all fine but what I want to do is have a Pre rooted flashable zip of my ftf I've made so it is my actual stock ROM I'm running. I've looked into the prfcreator but don't wanna do it and run the risk of bricking my z2 tab. Have you used prfcreator? I guess all I need is my ftf file to use. The most update supersu zip I want. And then I need to somehow have the xzdualrecovery.zip but not sure if that's all I need or if I need the current Sony signed kernel or what. Thanks

Depending what you want but if you include everything else but signing you end up to fully functional prerooted firmware.

No need to be sorry. You don't need to sign your zip because TWRP can handle unsigned zip files just fine. There is nothing wrong to sign your zip file but some times it can cause problems. Your choice.

No need to use kingroot. Downgrading to 4.4.2 (build 314) will allow the XZDR to temporarily root and install the recovery and when the phone reboots you install the prerooted package and its done.
After flashing the last german rom 6.0.1 with xperifirm, I am not able to enter the recovery mode. I followed all the tutorials, all possible combinations with the keys, all programs (with and without root), etc.
Any ideas?
As far as I know, you flashed with ftf rom, which wiped thoroughly custom recovery. You need to revert to 4.4 kitkat, root it, get custom recovery, than flash it with android 6.0, but only using flashable prerooted rom in zip file with custom recovery

Use build number 314. It is available on XperiFirm. Use XZDR .21 to install the Xperia Z Dual Recovery. It will temporarily root with TowelRoot to be able to installa the recovery. After the installation the phone will reboot; now you have 2 choices: Install the SuperSU .zip to keep root on KitKat or directly install a Marshmallow ROM

Hi everyone , i'm new here but was told there's alot of fantastic people here that could help with my problem, so here goes.
I'm familiar with the process of using flashtool and downgrading my firmware , i recently flashed to 4.3 to enable root and then used towelroot , which worked fine, but i had issues with Link2sd not working correctly, which has important files i need to use. i decided just to go back to 5.1.1 ,so i flashed the firmware in the title and used Kingroot as a simple solution , but i honestly don't trust it being there. Ive read a few posts but most of the links for files have gone because the system is quite old now , can someone point me in the right direction and help me out please.
Bootloader - can't be unlocked (according to Sony)
Firmware 5.1.1 (current)
If any more information needs to be added, please let me know, thank you
If you don't want to use chineese root tools like KingRoot and Vroot, install any firmware like 4.4.4 or 5.0.2, after install recovery using option 3 (Installation on an unrooted ^(Lollipop 5.0^) ROM using rootkitXperia). Upon entering recovery, flash PreRooted 5.1.1 zip. As a result, you will have 5.1.1 with root and recovery.
