As of a few days ago, when I drag and hold, the web page scrolls about three or four times faster than my finger is moving. Every once in a rare while it scrolls correctly, but it almost always goes very fast and very jumpy, not smooth. I'm not talking about when I lift my finger off. This problem happens when my finger stays on the screen. Of course it also gets way too much momentum when I do lift.
In any app scrolling works fine, except when viewing web content in any app, so I assume it is a webview problem. I searched and couldn't find anyone else experiencing this. I downgraded webview which didn't help, then updated it, and it's still the same. Any ideas?

Anyone? Am I really the only person to have ever experienced this?

When I go into the my apps section of the Amazon App store, initially, it functions just fine, but after queuing up a lot of installs and while multiple downloads are still in progress, it begins to mis-register touches on the install buttons on the right, partially seeing them a couple inches above my finger if I'm touching low, or below if I'm touching high, in portrait. Mostly the wrong buttons animate a touch a little, without queuing, but a few times, the wrong program was queued for install. It seemed easier to touch the program itself, and install from that program's page. Once the installs are done, it seems to go back to registering touches properly. I was able to replicate the behavior.
I've only seen this behavior in one other place: Tower Raiders Gold. There, in landscape, the miscue is a couple inches side-to-side while in a level, though touches in the menus seem fine.
It doesn't really seem to be a hardware issue because in all other locations, touch registers perfectly, including a sketchpad where I draw all over the screen. Has anyone else witnessed this behavior anywhere?
This happens to me sometimes in the stock browser when many things are going on. Maybe it's just getting over worked? Did you try uninstalling & reinstalling the app store?
Haven't tried that but I did get Tower Raiders working. Zooming out got rid of the issue in the first level and it hasn't cropped up since. The amazon store issue doesn't come up often, I was mostly concerned I might have been wrong and my tab was defective. Your experience seems to confirm it is a bug.

I couldn't find a thread about this.
At times when I open a web page with lots of content (images) the page will be loaded just fine until it is almost done. Everything is fine and I can scroll the page. Then it will just freeze until I get the dialog "Browser not responding" asking if I want to close it. However, instantly when I choose "Wait" the browser becomes responsive again and finishes loading the page.
Lately this has been happening a lot more frequently. About every 5th time I load a big web site. Sometimes it happens even here, but it is quite rare.
I've tried this with other browsers and they behave almost exactly the same way, except they freeze for a shorter period of time and it never gets to the "App not responding" dialog. But they will still be frozen for multiple seconds during which I can't scroll the page.
During the freeze none of the Android buttons work but music playing in the background plays without any errors.
This has really started to irritate me so I wanted to know if others are experiencing this.
This far and away my biggest problem with the Prime. I really hope this gets fixed.
Same problem here.
I thought it was related to the common freeze/reboot issue addressed by the latest patches, but it is still occurring with patch .15 (just had one loading this thread).

If you prefer to use the stock browser, download ics browser + from market.
Same as stock but with more features. Works flawlessly on my prime.
My friend also have this problem. Also with the ics+ browser. It works flawlessly on chrome though, so maybe flash is the problem?

No, even if you block flash on the stock browser, this problem randomly happens ... it looks like a problem with Stock and ICS+ browser (well ICS+ uses pretty much the same code base I think), but doesn't happen in other browsers as far as I can tell.
So most probably it's a problem with the stock browser !
For me it happens even if I don't have Flash installed.
It happens with Dolphin browser as well. Haven't noticed it in Opera.
Chrome is a bit different. Occasionally when you scroll down while it is still loading you only see white until after some time it starts to fill the page again. I think it could be related because the duration is pretty much the same as with the freezing issue.
My biggest frustration also.. figured it was possibly related with all the reboot issues also but still happens regardless of what browser I try and I have tried all of them.. I hope this get fixed soon..
That was my biggest complaint about the Prime... Browsing was just not fun because of this. I switched to Dolphin and it's much better.

You are lucky.. Dolphin no better here and just switched to chrome to post this after Dolphin closed out afterward and happened on chrome.. Please Asus fix this.. main reason I have a tablet is to surf! It is very tiring
from my experience all the browsers (ICS, ICS+, Firefox, Dolphin, Boat, Opera) have flaws, even Chrome Beta which still doesn't recognize the Function keys on the Keyboard dock and somehow interprets a character return when you try to enter an uppercase "B" on the dock.
At this point, I rather Microsoft get involved and just put up an Internet Explorer for Android. All the other browser alternatives have flopped hard to deliver. It would be an ironic twist if a IE for Android just simply worked. (not to mention the Silverlight and Flash support )
yup
Ditto here. Biggest complaint about the prime for me, too... after WiFi and GPS.
I think I've had this happen to me on every browser I've tried. Dolphin, chrome, ics, boat...

I get the same thing. Figured it was just me.
My biggest annoyence by far, I've got this problem with all browsers on a regular base and it's a big problem that needs to be fixed quickly.
Same problem here even after latest update.
I also noticed this before. The strange thing is that with the same site, on different times, I sometimes do have this problem, and sometimes I don't.
I have same problem the browser freez and chrash and sometimes i get force close
Me too.
I have had the same problem on all the 4.0 builds. With stock, dolphin and chrome browser.
Did a factory reset after .15 update, no better.
The ics browser on my phone does not freeze. Seems its a prime thing. Anyone notice this behavior on any other ics devices?

...unless you Force Stop the browser. It's annoying. Sometimes it will just start scrolling down after pinch zooming and it wont stop even when going to other pages. The only solution is to Force Stop the Internet in the Control Panel then restart.
Do you notice any problems in anything else? You might have a faulty digitizer. Take it to Verizon, and you might be able to get a warranty replacement if you convince them it is a digitizer issue.
It doesnt do it all the time. It seems to happen on the stock browser at random times after pinch zooming in. Most of the time its fine. Just every once on awhile as I am pinch zooming on an area , it will suddenly act up and start selecting text on the screen...then thats when the scrolling starts. It's usually down and it will just keep going until I force stop the browser. I just started using Boat Browser and havent had that exact issue. Only thing in Boat is sometimes when I pinch zoom in , it rapidly goes further up the page about 2 screens while zooming. And that could just be an issue with Boat. Opera, im not sure as I dont use it much. I wouldnt know in any other app..it would have to allow pinch zooming because thats where the problem occurs...and like I said, it's just random. Thought maybe someone else may have this issue.
@Gray, I dont think it's a problem with the digitizer because I can play NES/N64 emulators with no problems. I dont have a problem scrolling in apps or multi-press such as on screen game controls. I certainly can't be the only one with this problem. Maybe I didnt phrase my question properly...hmm..
So my dock had been regulated to "plugged in all the time charging dock" for my phone for the past few months. Yesterday I needed a reminder why I stopped using the thing so I picked it up, docked it, and started to use it for a bit.
It feels snappy when using the UI to browse apps or if Im in Play News looking at articles. But once I open Chrome to browse the internet, that is when I notice the issue. Pages seem to load fine, but when I try to scroll down them, it hangs for a few seconds and insta-loads the part of the page it scrolled down to. This is really annoying. Again, this is mainly when scrolling up and down pages in Chrome.
I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue or know a possible fix.
Thanks
Just bought this phone today and had this issue too. The touchscreen was not responsive in chrome when I tried to scroll up/down a page. Came here to find a fix too.
So I installed Firefox yesterday and it runs like a dream compared to Chrome. It seems like it takes longer for web pages to render but once they are up, you can scroll through them fine.
Just wanted to give the heads up.
Its not going to be enough for me to be a full FF convert but I will probably use it when I'm docked. Its cool that on my phone, my Home screen can have Chrome and on the dock, it can have Firefox.
Hello. Few days ago I've got Huawei M5 10
And I've found strange behavior of the touch screen.
Long story short :
If you slowly move finger in one direction, and then change the direction, touch screen doesnt detect changing of direction and doesn't follow the finger. It waits for 10-15 (or more) pixels and only after that it places touch point into correct position.
I wanted to add video but XDA prohibits me
Its not a problem in regular work, but its annoying in games because you can't take aim in any shooters.
Do you have the same?
I haven't gamed much on my 8.4", but when new I initially experienced some buggy scrolling, possibly similar to what you describe, inside web browsers and what not.
If you are experiencing the same, I recommend:
Upgrading to the latest available OTA. (I actually hate upgrading software, but this was forced o me after a boot loop)
Disable/Delete Chrome (so it doesn't take over for Android System Webview)
Uninstall any updates to Android System Webview (after a reset, some buggy behavior returned for me immediately after updating Webview)
There are other things you can do if rooted. But those were the big things that seemed to fix touchscreen behavior for me. fwiw I can't discount that my upgrade to B153 may have helped, but I suspect that Chrome/Webview was the issue all along.
Thanks for answering
I've already updated Android and even tried to play with screen resolution (thought that because of huge resolutions touchscreens have this problem)
I can't paste link to YouTube but you can find the video named 'huawei medipad m5 10 screen lagging?'
I show there a bug.
Notice that in the name of video Mediapad replaced with Medipad. It's okay.
I'm having the same problem as you but i am pretty sure this is a software issue... But it doesn't bother me much as I use my tablet more for work than games
Hi, did anyone find a fix for this problem?
I don't have this problem on my 8.4. I play alot of first person shooters.
