Sony Xperia Z1 Battery - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello everyone,
I use a Sony Xperia Z1 model c6902 phone. It is around 1 years old. No modifications have been done and it was on stock. When the battery was at 60 - 65% I get a notification saying battery low 1% powering off and shuts down. Then when the charger is plugged In it starts charging from 1% And after reaching 10% jumps suddenly back to 60%!!
Here are the steps I tried to resolve it:
1. It looked like a software bug so reset the phone to factory. No go
2. Unlocked bootloader, rooted, flashed 2-3 ROMS, no go
3. Flashed a stock . Ftf file. No go.
4. At the moment trying this app called Battery repair which I know for sure isn't going to help.
What should I do?
Edit: after battery recalibration and cell map (pretty sure all it does is reset batt stats) charge now dropped from 90% to 1%

[Q] Battery drops from 40% to 0% Instantly

Hi there.
this morning (12 o'clock) i wanted to use my phone and only red LED's light up when i pressed Power button! I'm pretty sure i had more than 40% Battery left when i went to bed at 01 AM.
Plugged in my phone and started it. Surprising thing was Battery at 1% and when i looked at battery stats it droped from ca 40% to 0% in an instant!
Might be time for Battery Calibration ?
okay...... just had the same problem again!
was undervolting the phone.... 750mv for 128mhz, and it crashed! had 80% Battery before. and 1% after crash, and slowly went upwards till 6%, then i rebooted.

Dear, the problem is that u must have installed a new ROM or an update without wiping your battery stats. That means ur battery infact is not showing the correct %. Infact I guess now its completely out of charge. Just reboot into recovery, wipe battery stats and then dont reboot the phone. Just take off ur battery.
Now plug in ur charger and put the battery in.
This will take the phone into offline charging. See the grey big battery icon. How much its showing ?
Offline charging actually will show u the real battery %
Charge it offline for like 20 to 30 mins and now switch on your phone.
It should be ok.
Let me know if its fixed.
Good luck

Also... I guess there is no need to undervolt your phone for good battery back up.
If you are using Wolf 4.04 with the stock kernel, it itself will give you over a day battery...
just what I'm doing now...
Try calibrate it first mate

Having similar problem here.
More details:
- drops from ~40% to ~5%
- phone shuts down and after boot, battery is back at ~40%.
- it happens only when the phone is in deepsleep, if it crosses 40% when CPU is active, it's fine, but after around 6-10 hrs in DS it drops to <5% and shuts down
- after "instant drop shutdown", battery life decreases (discharging around 25% faster), also fast drop from 100% to ~90%, when it gets below 90% the drain is "back on track"
Phone specs:
> X10i UK
> Bootloader unlocked
> ROM(s): same issue on ZMOD v3, VMOD v5/v6, FXP046, testing on Wolf's Stock Mod,
> Kernel(s): DoomLord's v1.3 FS/v1.4 FS, FXP Kernel,

Same here!

Had the same problem and it was the battery dying replace the battery with an exact same battery no higher or less mAh rating same mAh rating and follow instructions that come with new battery carefully then carry out battery calibration manually with wiping stats yourself and fully charging and discharging a few times to get proper battery life. I did all this and now I'm back to how it was when I first bought phone but my case was worse as mine would drop from 86% to 0% soon as it hit 86% that was it could use phone so get a new battery there cheap enough

[Q] Battery Problem SK17i (Mini Pro)

I have a problem with the battery on my SK17i (MFG date 11W30).
My phone is stock - Locked Bootloader, stock launcher and so on.
The problem I have is that when the battery level comes to about 20%, it jumps from 20 to 15 and then to 1% and shuts down, this in a timeframe of about 5 minutes.
Anyone had a similar problem and/or a solution to this problem??
almost same, battery callibration not works... full phone reset with 100% seems to work, but note - phone shold be charget from android, not offlined!!! in offline mode hardware seems to use another voltage for chagre and after reseting or callibrating you would have some hours of 100% charge indicator... any way i'm sick from that problem... with new .58 firmware my best result is 10%... then drop to 1%... no callibration or reset helps probably problem in battery hardware or battery driver software.
And one last thing I've noticed: if you use phone in lite mode, when it stays in idle for a long time, then drops comes often... but in case if you stress your phone with some apps and calls then drops are not so often, and battery goes smooth from 100 to 1... so probably main problem in battery itself.
ps. sorry for misstakes, text was writed from phone.
still no solution for the battery drain?
Did somebody figure out if it is based on the kernel itself (I myself have the latest firmware, but still no better battery life, and yes everything off except cellphone coverage) or some program running in the back that isn't visible?
solved!
found solution for avoid battery drop from 20-30 to 1% percent. (personal data would be lost)
1) discharge phone to 0% or 1% (this is !!!important!!!, because offline charge should be full, I spend several weeks in (_!_)-pain before catch a moment)
2) turn it off
3) wait for 2 hours (probably 1 hour would be enough too, phone charges to 100% dam fast , but to be sure lets say it would be 2 hours)
4) do not remove charge cable (this is voodoo thing, not sure if it is important), boot up phone
5) go to "Settings -> Privacy -> Factory Reset" (not sure that it called exact, but be sure that all data would be erased)
6) phone would start to erase data and go to reboot, in chat moment remove charge cable (this is voodoo thing too, not sure if it is important)
7) after boot up battery should be ok!
as I understand problem in locked firmware, and if your bootloader is locked, then any battery calibration software with root access would be loosed during reboot, so you need "SE native" method
battery drain
Hi.I have had this same problem whit the battery, the reason for this was that the battery was not format properly during first view chargings. In result I just clear the battery cache for couple of times every time the baterry was draind and recharge it again. My battery show every % now,so that was the resolusion.I hope you guys anderstand my english.

[Q] Anyone have an explaination to this battery issue?

Hey all
Well this problem has been persistent for a while now, even when I was on my phone pre root and pre custom ROM.
Phone is with Optus in Australia. The problem is sometimes when I reboot the phone(mostly when its at about 50 - 60%) and it starts back up, I end up on about 10% battery and it insist I plug the charger in. All I did was restart the phone and lost 40% battery.
The odd thing is the battery slowly ramps back up, 11%, 12%, 15% and so on, sometimes back up to about 35%
What the hell could be the cause of this? if I don't restart the phone I don't have a problem...
Heres a picture to show what I mean
Does the phone hang at bootup or shutdown? No sign of the CPU chugging away on either?

Nope. Takes about 5 seconds to switch off and about 10 seconds to switch back on.

You can try to claibrate your battery with the app battery calibrator or following these instructions (i would recommend trying both). If it didn't help, maybe send it back to Samsung?
I would charge battery 100% .
Wipe battery stats via CWM recovery .
Charge phone again to 100% and use it for three days thats enough to recalibrate SGS2 .
Still problems you have to try another battery first .
As warranty is now void you will need to unroot restore firmware and zero custom rom counter if you need service .
jje
this is normally. i have the same. just wipe battery stats, off the phone and charge to 100% , unplug the cable, remove battery for 1-2 mins and charge to 100% again.
if i were you, i'll just flash using odin and after first boot do *2767*3855# and let it do couple of charge cycles.... that is full charge use it full charge use it.....
and stay away from any restores for couple days
remember that code will wipe you internal storage
I had the same problem before
but now it is ok
i use battery calibration by neema from market
then watch the voltage it should be 4.200
or slightly less or more then calibrate your battery
I noticed that this was occure after heavy use
and then reboot
after I charged my phone with SE vivaz charger

[Q] Xperia Neo - Battery shows permanently 100%

Hello. My Neo permanently shows 100% battery. The battery life is normal, 1 - to 1.5 days. Then goes from 100% to 0%. I will plug in the charger. Curiously, there is one loading up normally. First ... 2 ... 15 ... 45% etc. However, the load takes about 3 hours. 've Tried 2 different chargers, new Sony battery .... no success. If you remove the charger at 30% or 42% off, etc., the charging icon goes away, but the display will then count slowly up to 100% (without charger). Taking the battery out briefly and then sticks it back in, the display is at 50% or more or less and is also back to 100%.
Had sent to the neo to W- support. They were not supposed to understand the error and have it sent back to me.
Does anyone have an idea?
give more details of your phone. rooted ? custom or stock rom ? any recent accident with phone ?

The phone is rooted. The 100% bug is present at all roms. I used AOKP MS6 long time, I tested Cyanogen, JJs Hybrid.... Now I have the stock rom 2.3.4. The phone has had no accident.
Wipe battery stats (there is option in CWM) and reboot. If it don't help then you can try repair option in PCC/SUS.

[Q] Z2 not showing correct battery percentage

Hello,
The battery on my Z2, after almost 4 years, wasn't able to hold on, so I have to replace it. I bought a new one and successfully replaced it. Now the battery life is great again, but unfortunately I run into a annoying problem. I fully charge the phone, and after I unplug, no matter if I use it or not, in matter of 2-3 hours the battery goes down to 1% and it stays at 1% the whole day with normal usage. So battery life is how it should be, but the percentage that it shows is not correct. I tried "calibrating" the battery (fully discharging and charging) but that didn't work so I tried repairing with Sony PC companion. That says that is reinstalling the system, so now the phone is like new, like factory reset, but still the problem is here. Now it goes maybe from 100% to 70% in 3 hours and then stays at 70% for 4-5 hours and again starts rapidly decreasing till it reaches 1% and stays at 1% for a while till eventually it shuts down. Any suggestions how I might solve this problem? Thanks in advance!
