Custom rom=you need unlocked bootloader.
Go to the general section and follow one of the unlock methods. Best of luck. You'll need it.

This is the rooting method that simple to use. Jcase method but I'm too lazy to find the thread.
Download, install, hit root me, restore, internal storage, lgpwn, check all apps then install. These are from memory so don't take my word for it. Good luck!
Sent from my LG-P769(20F) using the xda-developers app. If I helped you please hit the "thanks" button.

I just bought an LG K4 from Verizon. I have not been able to root it.
Has anyone else been successful rooting one of these?
I think this thread might be useful, except I don't use windows. I am on a Linux box--Debian Jessie. http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/guide-root-method-lg-devices-t3049772
I would like to know the Linux equivalent to the command " Send_Command.exe \\.\COM4"
I think I've just found the answer. I discovered it after rewording my question, which prompted a different Google search.

That did it. Thanks lucky5522 !!!
For the record, if anyone else needs to know, the phone that was rooted was an LG K4 from Verizon, model VS425.

OK... a few months later after rooting this phone I un-rooted it by updating (oops). The Android version is 5.1.1. Is there any way to root it again? KingoRoot isn't working.

I have tried NewKingrootV4.9.6_C151_B321_en_release_2016_09_18_105203.apk
My Camera is broken. I am wondering if that has any significance. Could the root exploits rely on the Camera somehow?
kingroot does not work anymore for my lg k4 either
I have the same problem i unrooted my k4 and i tryied to root again but not succsesfully i think you can root it once or you need the same kingoroot app idk reply if you fixed it

Sorry Removing my work from XDA
Hey everyone ?
Just wanted to share the joy of having ROOTED my k4 k121 on firmware 10F! The solution was exactly what @Astr4y4L mentioned in the previous post ☺ Involved downgrading boot.img I believe to previous version 10C which finally allowed kingroot to do it's job. Afterwards replaced kingroot with SuperSu. Astr4y4L now has a flashable system.img pre rooted with SuperSu!!
I invite you k121 users to check out that thread Astr4y4L linked and ask for k4 root ?

Hi,
Where can I find this flashable system.img?
I visited the page Astr4y4L but I did not find anything ...

Sorry to revive a dead thread, but how does one downgrade to 10C if all the instructions have been deleted?
Could someone who have had success chime in?
Ola nao consigo fazer root no meu lg k4 120
Sorry if this has been posted before; I've seen some posts dealing with rooting a Canadian LG G5, but not for the 7.0 Android version and H831 kernel version together.
Simply put, as a complete noob to the world of rooting, is there a relatively safe way to save a backup of my phone data (flashing, I think it's called) and of course, to root my phone? There's no lack of methods shown online and some for other software versions, but I'd rather err on the side of caution before proceeding with one type of root vs. another.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
There is no root for the LG G5 of the H831 model variety. And there probably won't be any, any time soon.
