Hey guys,
First thing's first, I've finally managed to root the phone. The bootloader, however, is still locked. I got the code from Sony and tried everything, spending almost 3 days on the forums, to no avail. I don't mind that the bootloader is locked though, I just want to carrier/sim unlock the phone so that I can use it as my secondary phone.
For anyone curious, my network provider (Optus) says that my phone is unlocked. I don't mind paying the money to have it unlocked. Also, the phone states the rooting status as UNAVAILABLE.
I was wondering if there was any way to do this.
Thank you in advance.

I unlocked my X10 bootloader when it was released, since then i've realised I still had credits in my davinci account, so I thought I'd have a crack at sim unlocking it.
The question I have is, will this brick my device if flash the 2.1 software back, perform the unlock and then flash back to cm7?
Maybe no-one has tried it yet, but I'm looking for a sensible answer with some evidence to back it up.
Cheers ppl

OK, So yes I can sim unlock it with davinci, But now I'm back to having a locked bootloader which is probably because it rewrote s1_boot in doing the sim unlock.
Soooo, now I can use another network sim which is my main priority as i just switched contracts.
But I'd like to have an unlocked bootloader so i'm not crippled and can go back to FXP and not SE GB.
I know I could unlock the bootloader and not have network access but that defeats the object of having it sim unlocked.
Looking back, There are a few things that would make this a lot easier....
Hi!
I had the same problem.
I was able to unlock bootloader and running Linuxdx+GingerDX.
Then i wanted to unlock my phone, did it with davinci app and worked all just fine, but after trying unlock my bootloader again the sime network crashes.
I have tried both choices on my phone both semc unlock and seetool unlock.
The same problem.
Only way to rescue my bricked phone is to make a "new" unlock again.
Now i have paid a unlock a couple of times so i dont dare to try unlock bootloader again.
Well i really like LinuxDX+GingerDX.
I beleuve that i am stock with STOCK kernel and GingerDX until a solution is here...

thanks for info.
I have been trying for two days now to unlock the bootloader on a friend's Live with Walkman (Wt19i) with little success.
The phone came with firmware 4.0.2.A.0.58 and is branded so in the *#*#7378423#*#* /Service info/Configuration menu, the rooting status is :
Bootloader unlock allowed: No
Rooting was easy, thanks DoomLord.
Next is unlock bootloader. I tried to do this via the s1tool method because the official Sony method was a no-go because of branding.
The s1tool method seemed like it would work but then I read that it also doesn't work on branded phones.
I attempted it anyway - the result was no change whatsoever in the phone's bootloader status.
Can I unlock the bootloader without having to pay someone to do it?
The s1tool method might work even if the phone is branded but if you want to unlock the boot loader to flash custom kernels and roms you will need to enter to fast boot mode which is disabled in all the branded phones that I know of, you can try to enter the phone in fastboot mode turning it of and connecting the USB cable to the PC and the phone holding down the volume up key, if the notification led turn on blue then you can flash custom kernels and rooms once the bootloader is unlocked if not then you will need to pay to unlock it if that is what you or your friend wants.
Hope it's helpful!!
Thanks for your reply, very helpful indeed.
I will see if I can boot into that mode when I get back home and at least then I'll know for sure.
It would be ever-so-nice if I could unlock this for her without having to pay money for it. (She won it in a competition that she only entered because her iPhone died recently - but the Live WT19i is locked to the wrong network)

Well actually for a sim unlock at this moment you will need to pay for, there's no way to unlock the sim for free. Unlocking the bootloader it's a different matter than the sim. I didn't mention it because you were asking about the boot loader sorry.
And I stupidly assumed unlocking the bootloader would allow me to unlock the SIM lock/branding.
Thanks again for the help, I'll just tell her she has to pony up the dough if she wants to use it on her network.
Hey folks, I've been nugging around the bootloader unlocking problem, since I own a Neo V which is locked, and the service menu in the phone says that the Bootloader cannot be unlocked. So I've read through some threads about this, and I wondered upon the idea, if I unlock my SIM lock(probably with TurboSIM, since thats the cheapest solution), would that enable me to unlock my bootloader, and start the real modifying of my phone?
What do you guys think? Worth's a try?

Both are unrelated but often confused. Unlocking for a different cellular network and unlocking bootloader are completely different sadly.
Hi all. Im about to order this phone on ebay and just have one final question. I am unaware if wether this phone was factory unlocked or unlocked from a network. I know on some phones (xperia) if they were network locked at any stage you cannot unlock the bootloader, is this the case with the HOX+?
So basically I want to know is there a possibility that I wont be allowed unlock the bootloader of this phone and be stuck on stock rom forever?
After rooting my Z2 and backing up the TA partition, I've discovered that the bootloader is not unlockable (it's a Vodafone branded device).
Is there a nefarious way in which to bypass this? I understand that the whole point is to keep it locked, but it's an old enough device so I may have missed where it's possible.
Otherwise what are my options for an up-to-date custom rom? As indicated, I've already achieved root and have TWRP installed. I tried flashing Lineage via recovery but got an E: unknown command [log] error.
I'm in the same boat unfortunately. I bought a used phone that had Vodafone UK. It was marked as SIM-unlocked, and that seems to be true; the service info doesn't show any filled checkmarks nor counters in SIM lock information. However, bootloader seems to be locked forever - flashtool reports "Bootloader status : NOT_ROOTABLE" and phone's service menus also say that rooting status is "bootloader unlock allowed: no".
I wasn't even aware there are Sony phones that are not SIM-locked but are still boot-locked without any way to unlock.
I would really want to upgrade from Android 6 to at least 7 because there are some specific apps that work only from A7. Wondering if there is any custom ROM that would run on stock A6 kernel but with everything else from A7? It should be possible to install such a ROM even on a bootlocked device, right?
Since posting I've discovered some answers. The bad news is that, no, custom ROMs are limited without an unlocked bootloader.
The potentially good news is that you can pay for an aftermarket SIM unlock, which has the side effect of also allowing the bootloader to be unlocked.
I've not tried it myself, but do a search for "Sony cable unlock credits" for some leads.
Yea I also am stumbling upon this same news, in my city there are some shady areas so I will ask around and see if anyone is capable of doing it and will let you know.
So far my phone has bootloader locked, sim locked with 3 attempts left so I will work on unlocking those and then rooting the phone and digging deep after
Lets cross our fingers that somethings comes up
So far online , I find only old videos and outdated information, websites down and nothing else.
One thing is for sure, if your bootloader can be unlocked, you just go to sony official website and follow their instructions and its free and easy,
But if it says ""bootloader unlock allowed: no" then...lets see what can we do.
Hey I am willing to pay, why not if its going to unlock the bootloader 100%
