What is Optimize and Protect app - Sprint LG G3

Recently replaced my phone through Sprints insurance program. The new one came back with more bloatware than ever. Specifically an app called Optimize and Protect. Lookout as well, but have already frozen and removed Lookout. My question is what is Optimize and Protect and is it safe to freeze and remove as well? Runs in the background and uses data, cannot be greenifyed. Background data can be restricted but would rather just remove. I cannot find any info on google or XDA regarding this application and all results refer to Sprints protection plan. SS's will be provided.

I have that on my phone as well. I think these were two seperate apps before or built into the os. Anyways the protect has something to do with unsecured wifi networks. I know i get a warning which u can turn off from poping up. the optimize caches websites that you use a lot and therefore is suppose to reduce the amount of data you use. Not sure if you can remove it or if it is safe to but i just turned the features off and left it on my phone.

"galaxy security update" Samsung app

Hi,
While looking through Samsung Apps i found a free tool from Samsung called "galaxy security update". I dont find any mention of the tool on XDA, it seems to be an anti malware app of some sorts, but i'm concerned about its permissions...more specifically it wants to directly make phone calls -_-
Has anyone tried it ? I'm worried that it's actually spyware and not really from Samsung.
Edit: screenshot

If it's in Samsung Apps, theoretically it should be safe. I gave up my privacy the second i started using Android. Sharing all those passwords, mail info , social networks info and so on can't be 100 % safe no matter what. I don't even bother to read apps' permissions anymore, but i only install apps from the market which other people regularly use. No app sent sms/mms or automatically called someone without my knowledge/permission. I'm more worried about call/sms costs rather than my privacy being violated, which i'm pretty sure gets raped a lot
I noticed this app too but I am unable to install it.
As shown in the attached image file, the installer always finishes with the message 'Application not installed'.
This happened to me on KH1/KH3. Any ideas as to what the problem is?

[Q] Why 'os services' is stealing my data?

Hi, I'm just wondering why os services is draining my data so much (I know that mb of data is nothing but this thing is annoying)? I'm using Droidwall which allows network connection only for GG (national communicator) and Opera.

Think that os services includes things like sync so it will use a bit of data, its not 'stealing' it.
Well, they do send some info. The kernel and os send marketing info to millenialmedia's IP for target adds and several other IP (check Droidwall's Log and enjoy a paranoid experience tracking the Ips with google)

274kb is nothing like. I use a gig a month.

yes it does.. if you dont want this to happen.
swtich off the auto sync.. and use pdroid patch and remove network access to the apps that you do not want to access your internet

Can someone make sense of my data usage?

So I after a long time saw what apps were consuming data on my phone and its rather disturbing what I saw. This is one month's figures.

Why on earth is talkback using that much data when I dont even have the service enabled??
Next up is nova launcher prime. I did grant it permission to collect data but that much in just a month??
Next up is beautiful widgets, again why on earth does a weather app need to use that much data??
Next up is clean master, I dont even use it that much so how could it be using that much data?
The last one is actually the most shocking one "MultiTouch tester" app because I havent even opened that app in like months.
Is it really normal for apps that gather data to do it that much in a month? Not only does it seem a problem with privacy but also with battery life under wifi. Remember all of these apps have many downloads and great ratings on the play store so its not a case of them being shoddy apps.
What is your opinion on all this?

[Q] ok, how on earth do you disable the data download warning in the play store?

that one? i only ever really use 3g and want to permanently disable this warning.
looked under the download app - no options, nothing in play store, data under settings etc.
any ideas?
anyone have any thoughts on how to do this?
here is something.. but why am I seeing your screenshot in this one year old thread?
http://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/help-google-play-wifi-warning.17287/
I have a hazy recollection that this is actually delivered from Google play online rather than the app. They used to have it triggered for any app over 10mb, then when 3g became mainstream they upped it. My memory is pretty crap most of the time so this could all have been a dream.

How about you un-check "Download using WiFi only"? Aaand it looks like you've used a screenshot from a MIUI ROM, which isn't a crime, but strange
i found a thread re same issue and that had the screengrab (same thing, wrong rom).
unchecking it works for that 1 time and 1 time only which means every time you update a large app you have to manually do it. it's pointless and a waste of time
there was a fix for the miui rom but doesnt apply to ours (in the downloads app but there's no options for it on our phones)

What Happened to Tasks (Codename Ice Cubes)?

Hello,
Anyone knows an app alternative to Tasks 1.3.4? I am still using it but developers stopped updating it.

The best tasks app that ever was, I'm starting to have issues, Google is blocking on one phone and I can't add new lists on others. Veg disappointing
@HenryHvPa What do you not like about Google Tasks?
I like the ability to quickly enter, indent, move multiple items too other lists, without entering dates or any other extra data
The kiss principle..keep it simple

Google made some changes how apps access Google Account. I remember going to security tab and creating new password for every app separately. Did you try it? I don't remember why I didn't continue with it.
