I happened to like that thread. What happened to it? It was invaluable to me when I was looking for accessories.
I wondered the same thing. It was useful. Maybe too hard to keep up with it.
It was closed down.
I reported it because the OP was sneaking in his Amazon affiliate links.
Whenever someone purchases something through his links, he gets paid a commission.
This is sneaky business. He's not trying to help us, he's trying to make money. XDA is a community forum, not a means to make money.
Apparently, the OP of that thread has several similar threads all over this forum. He was monetizing XDA and we did not even know about it. Surprisingly, the mods of the forum did not notice it either. I did because I am a mod of a huge forum as well and this type of sneaky advertising is a common tactic spammers and abusive users use.

Commercial advertising, advertising referral links, pay per click links and other income generating methods are forbidden. Do not use xda-developers as a means to make money.
The OP of that post surely dislikes me then. I ordered several things from things he & others posted, but I would look at the item, get the model #, then search eBay and other places to see if i could find better deals, shipping, etc. He / She made no money from me, but I did appreciate the suggestion

Ah, that's too bad then. Well, hopefully we'll get another one going in time.
Posting links is fine as long as the links are "affiliate-free."
was he banned?

Dear All ROG 3 Case Design Idea Contributors,
My previous thread asking for design ideas was deleted by XDA Admin. It encourages participants to join the design process by providing rewards, which is deemed as an violation of XDA rules.
Sorry for any confusion and inconvenience caused to you guys and/or to XDA. In case of any query or feedback to my thread, write to "[email protected]".
Now ROG 3 TPU case has released by adopting most of your ideas. It features:
(1) Excellent Drop Protection
(2) Raised edges and camera lips by 0.8mm
(3) Impact protection by four airbags
(4) Air Trigger compatible with case on
Looks like it doesn't deliver to India, can you provide an option for India too?

@Damaris Tan THREAD CLOSED!
Encouraging XDA members to join and to participate in a design process is not a violation of the XDA Forum Rules. But commercial advertisement for a product is such a violation. If posts are accompanied by links to advertise Youtube videos and channels of a commercial company, that obviously employs a poster, or if free rewards are offered to only a very limited number of XDA members then such posts must be considered a commercial spam.

Found an app that enable the OxygenOS built in feature with some nice addons like search
It does cost money, I used the trial and it's actually works great
{Mod edit: Link removed}
Procedure sounds a bit fishy? not saying it actually is, but granting permissions for someone to do stuff on your phone...
Also, OP: ido__ , app dev: Ido Company
The permissions is just for enabling the global write settings for the application itself.
Then, inside the application I'm able to set the flag of the call recording to true.
And since it is a global settings, that's why I need to be granted once.
Not that I don't believe you, but still not something I'd grant based on someone's word, unfortunately.
Yes, I understand. My best way of explaining me is
1. You can look at the website itself where it uses ADB across the USB from the browser, so the only adb command is to enable the global write settings for the app.
2. When you decompress the apk you (with some technical knowledge) can in fact confirm the only usage is the enable the call recording.
Since the flag you give permissions to is only to enable global settings, there are no malicious usages with that.
