Which version of the Tablet Z do I have? - Xperia Tablet Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It seems there is much talk about Pollux and Pollux windy (I think they were) How do I know which I have? I've flashed roms on my past phones...but never played (wanted to) with the Tablet OS. Looking to flash a 6.0 if I can find a good one. Maybe Vanir....
Anyone with advice and direction on how to know what device I have? Thanks. (no LTE btw on mine) that may be what the two different versions are I'm guessing.

I think I found that WINDY is the WiFi version...anyone confirm?

Pollux_Windy=SGP311/312. Pollux=SGP321.

Pollux is the one with LTE.
Pollux Windy is the 'WiFi only' version.

Which Radio to use

Hey guys,
in all recent roms Froyd Villain, Elelinux´s roms I experience that my data connection breaks down after some hours (sometimes days) and I have to restart my hero to get it going again. Additionaly my WiFi has similar problems too, just that it sometimes breaks down after some minutes so I looked for Radio updates.
All the radio threads I could find are older and it does not seem that there are recent radio updates out, so I wanted to ask which one do you guys use or where can I find recent ones?
I am European, from Luxembourg next to Germany so I guess the European radios should work
Thanks in advance
Have had this myself too. My theory is that its not radio related but maybe CPU settings. Radio flashing feels like russian roulette cos have done it myself a few times but not really sure if there was any difference. Heard that villain had a good list of radios, but don't be suprised if you already have the latest or that any make much difference : )

Yeah I checked it out but the post was around a year old so I don´t know how accurate it still is. For the rest I agree, radio updates are kind of russian roulette but atm its the only thing that I suspect could work (even though my issue is not a worst case scenario but I d still prefer it to work properly).

[Q] Verizon 4g gtab root/roms/kernals?

Hey guys/devs. I have been looking around and it does not look like there are any roms or kernals for the verizon 4g gtab 10.1. Also seems like there was only one link to the root file scattared across the world wide web and it is a broken link. If any one has the file or a different link that would be awesome. Also I would love to see some roms and kernals for this thing. Hope someone can help out I know that I am not the only one awaiting some dev to step up to the plate.
Thanks guys!!!
There must be a reason. The reasons I am hearing are:
1) LTE Tab isnt selling that well and consequently the dev community isn't working on the LTE Tab (I don't think this is the case, the guy that sold me mine sold 7 that day. Yes, I asked)
2) Honeycomb is closed source and it is more difficult for the dev community to produce roms (again I don't really buy this. There are a relatively substantial amount of roms and kernels available for all of the other versions of the GT)
3) There are differences in hardware/software that make the LTE GT more difficult to work on. (I can attest to this not being true because I am typing this now on a LTE GT running the Wi-Fi GT version of Starburst Rom. It definitely took some tweaking to get it running, but it runs. That being said I obviously have no 4g/3g radio. Maybe someone is stuck on that part.)
I saw a post from the developer of Starburst Rom saying he would try for an LTE version. Let's hope so because I shelled out extra money for the LTE version which is serving no purpose right now.
any unlock for Verizon 4g to use out side U.S?
or way to convert it to 3g ?
I'm waiting you...
locked tab
the lte version galaxy tab 10.1 can receive 3g data connections as well as 4g when there isnt a 4g available in the area you just receive 3g. I doubt it would ever be unlocked because the bootloader is locked on the lte version galaxy tab
Thanks

Thanks I will keep my eyes open. Hopefully we see something.
There is a kernel available for this, I have it installed on my Verizon LTE Galaxy Tab it is Pershoots latest for the SCH-I905 and can be found here:
http://droidbasement.com/db-blog/?p=2357
I used it to OC my tablet and it worked great, no issues with with the radio whatsoever that i can find. Completely stable and greatly enjoying the OC abiliites. Hope this helps.

My problem (I think) is because I am running a rom that was designed for the wi-fi only version. I have an LTE kernel but the rom seems to still have no access to radio. I am really hoping someone finds the stock rom or someone tweaks a different rom to allow access to the LTE radio.
FYI, if you are rooted and using AnyConnect VPN for work, then the Kernal by Pershoots will break this.
I just flashed his kernal last night and overclocked with no issues. Then of course this morning I get a phone call that internet went down at a site. When I got there I tried to fire up VPN to get back to my main site, and it failed to load the tun.ko module Luckily I was able to flash the stock one back, and then AnyConnect started working.
I would love to be able to be overclocked, but I need AnyConnect to work.
I really miss my Xoom

I'm new to the tab world. I also have a Verizon Galaxy LTE tab. Did you root before you flashed this kernel? What rom are you using?

[Q] Newbie: Attempting CM11 - Sensation 4G

I don't have enough posts under my belt so it won't let me put this where it belongs:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2524961&page=1
I installed CM11 on my Pyramid 4G device and I've got no phone. APN is empty, it has an error even searching for available carriers so looks like I have the wrong radio in this build? I am doing a search for radio currently but not sure if there's something else I should be trying.
I am unlocked, SOFF, all that jazz, was using CM10 but things got hosed with play store so figured I'd look for an update and 11 was there. I didn't even think about the fact that there was a 3G Sensation as well. (TMobile BTW)
Found the APN settings and entered them but even after a save, it just went away.

Phew, well Goo.im came on the new image so I poked around. I found some newer files which looked like they indicated tmobile. They did not but it reminded me that images should be tagged pyramid.
Found cm-11-20140109-Sultan-pyramid.zip and that was able to install over the previous CM 11 and this time I've got phone!
So thank you for replying!
Out of curiosity can you mix a previous RCDATA.IMG with a newer kernel?
My next step if I couldn't find anything was going to be editing the file manually to match the one from an earlier OTA pack:
Code:
QCT_UMTS_RADIO_VER=1
DisH=2
AGPSNVSetting=1
EnDTM=0
MSCMode=10
HSDPACat=10
HSUPACat=6
IMEISVN=1
GEA3=0
QCT_UMTS_RADIO_END=1

Need an up-to-date Rooting Guide for REDMI Note 2 with MIUI 7.3 Global

I am sorry, I know that people are supposed to find their answers by searching through all the posts and threads there are, but I have spent a couple of days already trying, and I am just not finding anything. I have found guides that are just not working. I have looked both on this site and on the en.miui.com website. I can't even get the xiaomi drivers to work, my system keeps saying that no drivers were found. I have downloaded the drivers from the links in the guides, and they are not the right drivers. I found one for windows 7 professional, I have windows 8. I have tried doing the update.zip way, and it keeps saying that my signature is not verified. So I am not able to root my phone with any of the guides that I have found. I might have missed something along the way, so if someone knows the answer to my problem, please share. I am truly frustrated with this, so your help will be greatly appreciated.
Are you using a signed SuperSU update zip? If you have still got stock Recovery, that is what you will need.

Well, I was looking at this guide that said to install twrp 2.8.7 and rename it to update, and that did not work. I downloaded one that was named hermes and that did not work. I have not seen any instructions to install supersu from the recovery, is there a link to a supersu zip that works? I will search, but if you are able to provide the link, that would be great.
UPDATE: So I did have the "update-supersu.zip" file, but that also fails the signature. It seems that something is different or something needs to be done, before I can get my update.zip to work. And I can't even use my computer, because I can't find the drivers.

Unfortunately, I don't have any links. I think you should look for generic Mediatek USB VCOM drivers. They should work perfectly well.
There is an up-to-date TWRP for this device here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-2/general/twrp2-8-7-0-light-materialized-theme-t3308492
Personally, for such low level stuff, I use the Mediatek "SP Flash Tool". It is not for the faint-hearted, and requires a good MT6795 "scatter" file. There are a few lurking around (search for MT6795_Android_scatter.txt on Google) - and, I believe there is even one in this forum. You can also look here: http://en.miui.com/thread-222169-1-1.html
I will have to see if I really want to go the extra mile with this, especially since this is not even 4G capable on AT&T (or cricket, my carrier), so my only reason to try and work on this is just to see if there is any improvements based on OS. It seems this phone has some serious tweaking issues, the browser in particular does not work well, be it google or the default browser. After going idle or after some use, it slows down to a ridiculous speed. Anyway, I will see what I do, and thanks for the input.

What you are describing is a software issue, which could be cured by a more sensible ROM than what came with the phone (which can sometimes contain "stuff" that should be expunged). Some versions of the modem driver (baseband) are better than others, depending on the ISP.

Well, that might be true, but it seems I was too quick to pull the trigger on this phone, because when checking on "willmyphonework.net" I see that this phone only supports 2g and 3g on AT&T. And I noticed that this phone is missing the 1700 and/or 700, so no 4g LTE for me. Though I do agree, the browser issues are definitely OS related, I because the hardware specs are more than enough to handle all kind of operations. It is a shame I did not find this information before getting it. Now I wasted two days trying to install new OS and still did not accomplish anything.

Even the lack of support for band 700/1700 may be a software issue (i.e., lack of support in the baseband drivers). Some people in these forums certainly suspect that this is the case - but I am no electronics engineer, and so I cannot comment on whether this is an accurate perception, or whether the real problem is deficient modem hardware.

By the way, this is a more relevant rooting guide for the RN2 - and it contains links to all necessary downloads: http://en.miui.com/thread-196523-1-1.html

Okay, I will try that, because I definitely like the specs for this phone, and I can't understand for the life of it why it would not be built to work with the U.S. carrier bands for LTE. And that guide, by just taking a quick look at the links, seems to be a much more up to date version. Thanks again for the help!

Haven't touched my MDK S4 in 3 years...what do you guys suggest I do from here?

Hello All,
I've been out of the scene for years...and I'm just getting back into the hacking that I used to do...
My question is this....with the screenshot attached...where would you go from here as far as upgrading goes?
Screenie :laugh:
If you want to actually use it LineageOS is pretty solid (even thoug, possibly cause of my incompetence I am just running it in 3G)
A quick question.. my baseband is still VRUFNK1 and it appears that you have a more recent one, were you able to find an upgrade for the baseband that did not affect the bootloader? Where?
I'd love more recent radios (might possibly help with an issue I am having with not being able to switch to LTE, even though the cause might be completely different)
