I'm looking for something that plays the files on my SD card but that gives me my folder tree structure like I use on my desktop with Jriver Media Center. Tag organisation is great, but for lots of my music, folders and subfolders help keep my collection organised.
Is there anything that can read the folder tree of my SD card like that, give me basic file info (encoder, bitrate, etc) and offer some good UI settings in an Android music app?
Thanks!

Anyone know of a program that can create playlist files from folders? I keep my music organized by style.
For example, Music--> Soundtracks -> Movie Soundtracks --> Prince of Persia. or
Music --> Techno --> House.
I have found this MUCH easier to maintain than making playlists everywhere but I can't get the default player on the Vibrant to recognize Folder structures so...anyone know of an app that can CREATE playlist files out of music folder structure? I can then feed these playlists to the music program I want to use.
I don't like how Astroplayer sounds so I'd rather not use a different music player. I just want to save and create playlist files or make the phone SEE the folder structure AS playlists.

I just use Mixzing which plays the playlists (.m3u files) I made with WinAmp just fine. I have foldered structures for my mp3 files similar to yours and each album has a playlist file in its folder.
Playlist from folders
Creating playlists based on folder content would be useful. Using .m3u files works fine until files are added or deleted.
I use a play list .bat file. Google m3u create batch file. Its simple code.

Mods: If this is in the wrong section then I apologise.
Ok one and all, I need some help with this one.
I'm working on a project to do with data transfer and I need to know about how people store data on their devices. By data, I mean stuff that you transfer to and from your device ie pictures, music, docs etc. I'm only interested in what is actually physically on there and not stored in a cloud. Ideally I need the extensions (for filtering) as well as the type and the path.
If you use more than one android device and you store things differently then that would be really useful as well.
So to start with I store the following files in the following folders on my device (well, on my sd card)
Music
mp3 /music
mp4 /music
Picture
jpg /pictures
Documents
doc /documents
pdf /documents
epub /eBooks
Videos
.avi /Movies
Thanks

Hey, I have had a problem with no matter what android phone I have. This has been doing it for quite some time but I dealt with it but last night I lost 12 GB of music so here it is:
Whenever I move music in these situations, it will erase all ID3 Tag information (Artist, Album, etc) and all it has is the file name. I had 2000 songs with artist names and all, but when moved it all became unknown artist. Here are the situations:
Galaxy S3: Moving Music from one folder to another (Like from a Download folder to my music folder on external SD). Or from moving music from internal to external or vice versa.
Optimus G: Moving music from one folder to another on the internal storage (Again, like from a download to music folder).
Evo 4G: Just moving from folder to folder.
All this is done with ES. File explorer. I tried other but they do it too. It can not be device specific because it happens on almost any android. All songs are in MP4/MP3 format and maybe some .wma.
Any help would GREATLY be appreciated. Please don't comment saying "Just use google play cloud" or anything, because I do not like cloud storage's. Thanks in advance. Really need help.
If you a file explorer that doesn't do that, what is it?

Hello to all.
As the title of thread says i am looking for a music player for my kitkat android phone. I would love a few suggestions from you guys. The basic three functions i require are
1) Custom Playlist: I should be able to make playlists.
2) Custom Selection of folders: I do not want it to scan all my device memory and put every audio file in the playlist. I should direct it to the folders i want to be auto scanned and updated each time i add a new song in that folder. Each Playlist will have different folder set in its settings for songs. (Reason: i have different types of songs like sad, party etc in their named folders. So i want to direct Sad playlist to play songs in folder Sad, Party Playlist to play songs from folder Party and so on.
3) This one is not very important but it will be good if it look beautiful and with a lot of functions.
Thank you. Please give some suggestions.

Well if one of the playlists can be password protected then it would be just awesome.
I got my spare battery and 200gb SD card from LG. I decided to put all my music collection on the card that way I dont have to stream it, which sometimes I cant in bad service areas. I put a lot of the music on the card and see that the album art is now showing in the gallery. Is there a way to exclude these images from the gallery? It has added a bunch of folders that are not needed.
Any info is appreciated.

Using a file manager, create a file called .nomedia in the folder that contains the album art. You may need a 3rd party file app from the Play store, not sure if the stock one lets you create files.
Edit: I just noticed this presents the music player from recognizing the music as well. I feel like I've done this before tho.. Lol
Album art file should be named albumart.jpg and they won't show up
If you use a tag editor to load the images ( this may require you to transfer them to the internal memory then back to the SD) then you can delete the files all together.
