Today I noticed that my phone wasn't recognizing my face ( I usually use Smart Lock trusted face) and I opened the camera app to see what's up. What I found was that the button to change to the front cam was completely gone. I then tried snapchat, which also couldn't open the front cam. I even tried going through the service menu -> service tests -> front camera but once again, nothing happened. No amount of reboots seems to help, so yeah... any suggestions?
possibly a hardware issue/malfunction > try a factory reset after a backup to rule out software problems.
Your phone must be physically broken. Is its charge port looser or tighter than before?

Hello everyone, my Redmi Note 4 arrived today. There is an issue. When I try to connect to the camera it says cannot connect, please try restarting. I've done that, cleared the cache, and looked around for answers but no luck. It's running MIUI 8.1 by xiaomi.eu 6.9.8/ Beta, Build no. MRA58K. Does anyone have any advice? Thank you for your time.

Flash your rom again, and if the problem exists, it could be a problem with the camera.
Solved this by doing the following:
1. Go to Settings -> About phone
2. Tap 5-6 times on "Kernel version". This will enter to Engineering Mode (CIT)
3. From "QC test" menu, go to option "12.FrontCamera"
4. Camera app will start with the front camera. Now change camera from front to back. You should have image from sensor.
5. Tap back to exit the camera app, and select "Fail". This will reset the sensor and sensor lens.
6. Exit CIT mode and test your camera. If was a problem with the sensor (or lens), it should be solved now.
For me, this was the only thing that worked.
I tryed before to reboot phone, factory reset, reflash other ROM
There is no icon to change camera

Hello everyone. I've the same problem, that my phone can't connect to the camera. I gave it away to fix the sim slot. But after that no camera app is working. They always crash.
So, i opened the backcover and suddenly the camera worked for a few minutes. I took some pictures and videos. After i attached the backcover the camera stopped working completely.
So i disassemled the phone and found some strange wires. They are connected to the sim slot and the huge metal box next to it. Anyone knows if they are original?

Ok, problem solved. I disassembled the phone and put all together and now all is working. Maybe a connector wasn't put in right. ?

Model Number: MT2L03
Build: MT2-L03C00B322
Android version: 5.1
EMUI 3.1
Not rooted.
Not sure exactly what the issue is. I think it needs a new battery. Because when it gets down to 10% left it will randomly go down to 2% all of the sudden, then I will get that message saying "phone powering off" then the phone is difficult to ever get back on... which is why I try to never let the battery go completely dead.
Anyways the other night it went completely dead..... I charged it for forever it seemed, I noticed it was a little warmer than usual.
I ignored it and left it plugged in.
The next day I took it apart (I have taken it apart before, and put it back together with everything working fine)
Reason I've taken it apart in the past is because I had to replace the lcd screen because the other one got sat on and it shattered.
So I have an originally white phone with a black lcd screen....
Anyways I took the phone apart again, looked at the battery to make sure it wasn't bloated or warm anymore. It was fine.
I turned it back on and I noticed when I open the stock camera app it kept saying "can't connect to camera" or something similar.
So I took it apart again, unplugged the camera and plugged it back in, tried rebooting the phone, and when I opened camera again the phone then rebooted itself a few times.
Now instead of getting the message of "unable to connect to camera" it's as if the phone doesn't see the rear camera at all anymore.
The flash for the rear camera doesn't work anymore either.
I got it to turn on for a while, when it couldn't connect to the rear camera, but then it didn't want to turn off, then the phone rebooted itself, and now I can't get the rear camera or the flash to work.
The front camera works fine. But as for the rear camera there are no options to switch to it like there used to be.
On the top of the camera app there used to be a sort of "refresh" icon that would switch between the two cameras, that's gone though.
I also tried downloading apps that tell you about android hardware... and they say for secondary camera something like "not detected"
I made sure though.... the rear camera is plugged in all the way.
I even tried the backup and reset thing....
I don't know how to boot this model of phone into safe mode. I tried holding the power button, but I'm not sure if you hold the physical button, or long press the power icon on the screen???
I opened the camera app and went to settings and restored defaults.
I also tried opening app info for camera and clicking clear data. Neither helped.
How do I get android to see that there is a camera there?
Would downgrading the phone to the original build it was on help?
I think it was originally android 4.3.
Edit: So my main questions are... how do I boot into safe mode?
Would rooting it and clearing the dalvik cache work maybe? Isn't that what causes android to say "optimizing app X of X" when booting up?
How do I root this phone? After I root it would there be anything I can do to troubleshoot the rear camera or flash?
It just seems weird to me that one minute it says it can't connect, but the flash was working. Then the phone rebooted itself, and now it doesn't even seem to realize that there is a rear camera plugged in. And now the flash for camera isn't working either. Even did a backup and reset.
I was using the camera app and the front camera and I was moving around the phone and noticed these vertical streaks on the screen, only in front facing camera mode. It also does this in snapchat.
I have restarted my phone, reset the app data and cleared the cache.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Just noticed this happens to me too. Especially when the front camera facing bright sky
Hey so I actually returned my phone showed it to them and they gave me a new one. It is not software related (my issue) and was a loose connection it seemed. Try to return it and get a new one. Check in the store to see if it does the same thing.
Hello,
I have been using Honor 10 for a month almost.. When I'm taking pictures with AI turned on, sometimes phone won't take pictures anymore, you simply tap to take a picture but nothing happends, flashlight also automatically turns off and you can't turn it on.. After, when you turn off AI and turn it on again, you can take pictures and turn on flashlight again.. I tried to update software, rebooting, but I have experienced this problem again.. About cutting, I have problem on IG for example. When I watch stories, edges being cut off.. I tried bringing back navigation dock but same problem.. Have anyone experienced this problems too?

I have the same problem... It was like its not responding, what I do is that I select another mode. (video/aperture) then back to photo mode with AI and it works again... it is annoying specially if you want to capture that particular moment.... also it heats up the back side near the rear lens when using AI for longer periods of time. Hope it can be fix on Android Pie update...
It happens to me as well but if I keep pressed the button longer it takes the photos (too many ?) but at least you don't lose the moment . I hope it will be fixed on pie ?
Issues fix in EMUI 9. But heat builds so fast using AI photography.
I have exactly the same issue over three months now. I thought I was the only one but I found that many others have this issue too. Does HONOR know about this issue on the device? I hope so because it is very annoying after taking two pictures with the ai feature on, I press the button to take a photo a nothing happens I have to manually disable ai or to switch from video to camera again for another two camera shots. I contacted honor support they said to do factory reset, clean cache reinstall apps relogin to my Google account nothing has fixed this damn issue. Waiting for emui 9 if the update doesn't fix it I will sell my phone cause it's very frustrating
Anyone got the same issue "camera failed to connect" . And sometimes on night shot it just keeps saying like in the picture but it doesn't stop or captures the photo..

Had the same issue a couple of times. Try clearing data/cache and see if it helps.
Was happening to me almost once a day. Reboot would fix it temporarily but it would come back.
Contacted support. They told me to go to settings, system, reset, reset all settings (doesn't delete any data or app).
I thought it was silly and just their usual first step... But I tried it and so far haven't had the issue in 4 days.. Crossing fingers!
Maybe some glitch in between firmware updates that got cleaned by the reset? I'm on .127 (Telus, Canada)
Issue with camera app
Hi,
I am seeing the same issue. Sometimes when I open camera app it says 'Camera failed to connect'. Then this lasts sometimes for seconds, sometimes reopening app multiple times solves this and one time I had to restart phone. Also sometimes the camera app opens up but with no camera shutter button or any settings option. This is very annoying. I am using lawnchair launcher. Phone has also frozen in other apps couple of times like in WhatsApp which is not acceptable with this processor.
The in display fingerprint scanner is also not reliable I hardly use it now as it doesn't work many times.
My software version is .126
Can the camera app issue be a manufacturing defect or a software issue as very few people have posted this issue? If manufacturing defect then I will have to head to service centre immediately.
Thanks
I haven't had this happen again after I swapped back to the stock launcher... Which is admittedly an absolute ridiculous solution
