Flash TWRP in OxygenOS 3.0 - OnePlus 2 General

Hi, I'm having a small problem here and need your help. A friend of mine flashed OOS 3.0.2 from TWRP and after that he forgot to fkash TWRP. Now the recovery is replaced with the stock recovery and he wants to root the phone. I tried flashing TWRP using adb but it does not work. Can anyone help with what is to be done. Thanks in advance.

1) download the Grarak's TWRP Recovery from https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/mirrors-for-official-oxygen-os-roms-and-ota-updates.387615/.
2) Place it on your phone
3) Download and Install Fashify app from Play store
4) Use Flashify to install your Recovery image. It should recover TWRP.
5) Of course, you need to be rooted.
Enjoy !

Root method same as with previous Version of oos? (lollipop)

yes, you can root with Modified SuperSU v2.74 TWRP flashable zip from the link provided.

He has no root and no recovery to flash Su, so tell me, how should he flash recovery with Flashify?
AFAIK the only way now is to flash recovery with fastboot and then with recovery Su.
OP download the recovery provided here.
Flash it via fastboot
fastboot devices
make sure your device appears
fastboot flash recovery "filename"
Reboot into recovery
flash modified super su

Hi, thanks for the instructions but i managed to flash the recovery using fastboot and adb. Only the hybrid recovery could be flashed, no other. I flashed the official TWRP but it did not boot, so i flashed hybrid twrp and it worked

Good to know. The official TWRP can't boot because of the new Bootloader of OOS 3.x.
You need one of this three
hybrid
the modified orange one
or garags

Let me make it easier and clear to you.
1. Install the drivers for OP2 (IMPORTANT)
2. You might have already downloaded adb and fastboot drivers. If not, download it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790
3. Unlock your bootloader in OP2, if you have not and enable USB Debugging from Developer Options.
4. Once you have installed Minimal adb and fastboot drivers, place the hybrid TWRP in the folder of Minimal adb and fastboot. Then Shift+Right Click and open the command line, type the commands (hope you know if not google them)
Then from fastboot, directly boot into recovery as at times OOS 3 replaces the custom recovery with stock recovery. From fastboot, press Power+Volume down until the 1+ logo shows up. You will be booted into custom recovery.
Hope this helps. In case of anything else you can PM me

I thought he was at least rooted. Because this is what happened to me, when I flashed the signed flashable zip followed by the root zip, I forgot to update the TWRP.
My phone was working but I couldn't access to TWRP, but I was rooted. So, in this case, my reply with flashify works.
Thank you.

ok guys saw the threads as was also trying to flash TWRP .
The bottom line is with One plus 2 having Oxygen OS 3.0 it is difficult to fastboot TWRP previous versions but with latest version I was was able to install TWRP 3.0.2-2 using fastboot and adb. The link is dl.twrp.me/oneplus2/twrp-3.0.2-2-oneplus2.img (official site of TWRP) Once installed you can install latest SU.zip.
Cheers

Rooting on linux

Is there a way to root via linux? Im running the dev miui atm and looking to install aosp, is there a way to install twrp via mi recovery?
Sent from my Redmi Note 2 using Tapatalk
Rooting via linux? You can flash an alternative recovery (TWRP) using fastboot (which is available on linux) and from the recovery flash SuperSU which in turn will grant you root access. But since you're already on dev MIUI there's a simple 'Root enable' function built in already (can't remember exactly where it is, I think it's somewhere in the Security app) and there's no real need to flash SuperSU (unless you want more options/granular control). And, the easiest way to install TWRP is indeed by using the Updater app on MIUI (put twrp.zip on root of internal storage -> Updater app and then there should be an option called 'install/update package' or similar).
Cheers.

Since you was running dev miui, btw, if china dev rom and it was rooted. Used flashify which you can downloaded from playstore to flashed twrp.img. if you erer running global dev rom, you need to root it first. The easier was was used windroid in windows, used it to flash twrp and root your phone. Sorry i don't know the rooting method on linur. backup your data by using miui system backup first, But you can just used the phone by flashing china dev rom and used flashify to flash twrp.img.

you can just like in windows via fastboot. If youre phone is not detected on abd devices (like it happended to me) see this: http://en.miui.com/thread-197576-1-1.html . Dont forget to put the phone in "developer" mode.
You can flash TWRP through Flashify, an Android app.
No need to even touch a PC.
Cheers guys i will take a look at flashify. Almost forgot about this gem

you can use tutorial http://www.linuxslaves.com/2015/07/install-android-tools-adb-fastboot-on-ubuntu-linux.html for adb and fastboot installation
No need adb, fastboot, if you have a twrp you can found many supersu zip installable via recovery, if you not have the twrp recovery so you need fastboot and twrp version for your phone

Hey Developers, I need a little help with bootloader.

Hi I unlocked my Oneplus x bootloader using fastboot adb and flashed blu_spark, super SU. But somehow my bootloader got locked again. Now i am trying to flash Cyanogen and other roms and im getting an error. I tried unlocking again but when i type fastboot oem ulock the phone restarts and boots in to TWRP. Please someone help me to unlock the bootloader again. There's a method which i found for oneplus one called tamper bit. But i cant find anything related to oneplus x.
Thank you
Did you enable "OEM Unlocking" in Developer options?
Did you enable "OEM Unlocking" in Developer options?
Yes i did. As i mentioned earlier that i have unlocked my device to install super su and blu_spark. When a new ota arrived i tried to flash the stock rom but there was an error called E: ERROR UPDATING PARTITION BINARY. So i wiped dalvik cache, system, data. Still i got the same error when i flashed. So i restore the TWRP backup of my stock rom. I tried flashing stock recovery but the device reboots into twrp. And when i triedfastboot device-info, it says device unlocked : false. And also tried again by enabling oem unlock, but when i enter the code fastboot oem unlock, the device restarts in to Twrp without asking confirmation and its still locked.
Which recovery are you using? Get the 2.8.7.0 or 3.0.0.1. It appears like TWRP issue.

replace CWM with TWRP

I've got a SGS4 (I9506) with Cyanogen Mod 13.0 and CWM and I want to switch to LineageOS 15.1 which states I should use TWRP.
1. Does it make a difference whether I use CWM or TWRP?
2. How exactly would I proceed to replace CWM with TWRP?
The only answer I found while searching was to "just use GooManager from the Play Store"...
Thanks in advance
Simple you going to go on twrp and see if a offical twrp exist for your device and if not go on the xda page for your phone and see if any modified twrp bulids exist for your phone and then you flash the twrp image in your recovery and reboot recovery will pop up and now you have twrp I hope this works...

1. It makes difference by not booting into rom when you flash with cwm or older versions of twrp
2. Download twrp from https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=3700668719832239230 .... and flash it with odin..
or extract that .tar and you will find recovery.img then flash that .img with flashify app if you are rooted..
Hope this helps
