There should be some undelete apps in the Play Store. Don't know if they'll help or not though.

[Q] Phone (Verizon note2 I605) is not recognized by PC after running CASUAL

Sorry for posting here as I'm a new comer!
I try to root/recovery my Verizon note2 I605 by following the instruction in post -- "[Jailbreak][Root][Recovery] CASUAL One-Click -- update 17MAR13:Windows/Linux" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2118348).
After that, I can enter recovery menu and install customize rom. However, the Phone just supports two USB options: MTP and PTP and my PC (the same for another PC) does not recognize the phone anymore even I reinstall phone driver from Sumsung. Neither does CASUAL program recognize the phone.
Can anyone give me a hint about how to deal with this situation? Many Thanks in advance!

Dont use win8, as far as I have heard its not supported.
This has happened to me both times I rooted my Verizon Note 2, what a pain in the ass. What I did to get it to work was to uninstall the samsung drivers then reinstall. This worked the first time but now it is not working on my replacement phone. This has happened before on my girlfriends s3, it pretty much wont recognize any samsung phones. I'm out of ideas, I think the USB installer that casual comes with is screwing up the drivers. I'm on Win7 btw

[Q] Lost in Device Manager Trying to Downgrade from 12b to 10b

Hello wise XDAers....
Ok so my goal is to get my new vs985 12b to CM12 or something cooler. So first step I need to downgrade the phone in order to root. I've been trying to follow the instructions here http://www.androidrootz.com/2014/07/how-to-unroot-lg-g3-all-variants.html?m=1 but I seem to be stuck at step 4 - getting the phone to be recognized by Windows in firmware update mode. I have tried 3 Windows 7 machines and a VM W7 machine. Granted the 3 machines are similar HP laptops. I think they are all 64 bit. I don't have a COM/LPT in the Device Managers, not after showing hidden devices and there does not seem to be a BIOS setting which affects.
In firmware update mode I've got yellow flags on CDC serial, lge android phone and vs985 4g. Are these even the right and complete list of device manager items I am to install? I'm hoping one of these I can edit to get the COM port setup? Some have said to enable debug mode or ethernet USB mode - but these options are only available in normal boot mode in the phone; I did try and turn on debug nonetheless (though it was greyed out, it did seem to check the box??) and I could not find ethernet mode. I do see some posts on the internet that others seem to lack this option, perhaps in 12b it was removed. Further it does seem that many new machines lack a COM/LPT port, so I don't know if there is a way to emulate this or if the drivers for the LG set this up? I am using the LG's dedicated usb cord and have tried multiple usb ports.
I am trying the Windows drivers available on the LG support page for the phone but there also seems to be Verizon LG drivers. Not sure if I am supposed to use one or both or if once installing it one or the other it screws things up and how you are to remove? The VZ drivers seem to be removable under "uninstall programs" but not the LG drivers. I also have been trying to get Windows update to auto install the drivers, but does not seem to work. Here are the two I have been trying:
LGUnitedMobileDriver_S51MAN313AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.13.2.exe
LG_VZW_United_WHQL_v2.14.1.exe
Am I doing this all wrong? Is there an easier way? Help!
Hi, just a quick reply that's not all inclusive as I'm at work and I'm going to hurry. You don't have to bother uninstalling the regular drivers. Installing the Verizon drivers is what you need to do, and it'll be fine if you installed the other drivers first. I'll try to get back about the rest of your post later.

Thanks roirraW "edor" ehT! I've got the LG_VZW_United_WHQL_v2.14.1.exe installed now, so I guess the issue is in firmware update mode I've got yellow flags on CDC serial, lge android phone and vs985 4g. On my virtual machine w7 I do have a lpt/com in device manager, but none of those 3 items are in that parent item. I guess if I figure out how to install them properly, they might "go under" the lpt/com parent entry? I've tried all the USB ports and tried rebooting the phone and computer several times. Tried letting Windows update search for drivers to update (if you rmb/properties on these items with yellow flags it says the driver is not installed despite the installed Verizon drivers). Not sure what else to do.
OK! Think I figured it out! Got the right device installed with the latest Vzw driver from LGs site - seems to be version 20.

Excellent! Glad to hear it. I couldn't resist coming back to try to give you more ideas (I was going to suggest rebooting with the phone unplugged, and then plug it back in). I work with VMs a lot so that aspect interested me.
Cheers!

[Q] 7" Kindle Fire HD - Not Recognized!

Hey everyone. I'm in a very big issue right now. I've searched far and wide on the internet to try to find a solution to this, but to no avail. I was recently messing around in TWRP on my Kindle Fire HD 7", when all of a sudden I went to reboot it and then just a blank red screen. So obviously I have bricked it. I know how to run the recovery program to get it unbricked, no issue. I have bricked my Kindle before in the past and was able to easily fix it by running the Kindle restore recovery program. So now when I went to my PC to try and unbrick it, I get this message "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it." So clearly the drivers aren't working. I went into the devices manager and located it under Universal Serial Bus Controllers as "Unknown Device." When I attempt to update the drivers, there is no Amazon option. I have tried uninstall and reinstalling the drivers countless times. I tried as many different driver sources as I possible could come across and nothing is working. I have used three different computers so far, and none are working. I do have a fastboot cable, which is what I'm using to do this. I can get my Kindle into fastboot but that still doesn't change the fact that the drivers aren't working. I have made a YouTube video about this. I will post the link to my video that I made so anyone can better understand this. I am desperate at this point, and I appreciate any help I can get.
EDIT: I can't post the link at this time since i'm "new and probably a spambot," so feel free to PM me and I'll provide the link.
I'm so sorry man the only advice I can give you is to try to flash a custom ROM over fastboot but that probably won't work you might be able to find a program that let's your computer find your device without it powered on or bricked. Sorry man also they are like 50 bucks on utube if worst comes to worst.
Do you think it has anything to do with something being broken internally? Because I have never had an issue with it not being recognized in fastboot.

I don't think so the same happened to me and I just flashed a custom ROM after a factory reset and that worked also did you enable adb before this happened? Because if you didn't, your going to have to toy with twrp until you can find a custom ROM you might have previously downloaded.
Yes, I always have adb enabled. But I can't even get into twrp. It's fully bricked, it just boots up to a blank red screen.

Ummmmm you could try sending it to amazon or a service on eBay that's kind of your last resort but still try to look for a fix I'll be looking around for a fix

I remember being able to go back and forth between KK and LP no matter the fail attempts of loosing root, Do you have custom recovery? If you do you can easily boot to it by pressing the power button and the volume down key and enter the recovery from there and flash a rom with root, MAYBE I'M WRONG but that is what I remember doing whenever root was gone. I haven't done this in months so I'm not sure, maybe someone else can help you
Instead of using the one click GUI root...use the script root. It's a sourceforge download I believe..
I believe I have tried this....I'm going to look more. Can someone provide a link? In the meantime ing oibg to try to get back to kk not having any luck
So how I finally got flashed back to kk. Trying to root but seems like my phone isn't cooperating with the scripts. It says waiting for device.....that's all it does. I have ish debugging turned on and drivers installed

It took my device for to finish up the script when it says "waiting for device", not sure if you waited for a while or expected it to be a quick process or not but I am positive that with my device it seemed like it took FOREVER. Just a heads up, not sure if this is much help but just an idea.
my phone just is not communicatin propely with scipt i have usb debugging enabled but just says waitin 4 device thats all

Did you have your phone in PTP mode instead of MTP mode? I seem to remember that when I went to root mine I was in MTP mode and it didn't work.
I have tried both pro and mtp

I also had somewhat of a struggle rooting on 24b. The MTP mode didn't seem to allow Adb access. I think toggling back and forth from mtp to ptp finally allowed adb devices to show the device. Wish I remembered which how to I followed to link you to. Do you have Lg drivers installed?
Here is guide I followed. Thanks to digital-bug for guide that helped me.

I have had similar issues with MTP and ADB access on my V985. What I have discovered fixes mine every time is to plug the mini USB into a USB port on the front of my case or into the add-on card. Essentially not through any hubs and NOT directly hard connected to the motherboard. But a port attached to one of the headers IE front of the case ports. I don't have any good explanations for why this works, but it works. Normally i plug my phone in to a USB 3.0 hub and it, normally, does work, but when it does not I go to the front of the case which is a 2.0 port connected to one of the headers on the board.

I had similar issues ( as well as many others) when trying to root. After many unsuccessful attempts I tried a different computer and it worked like a charm. Both were xp machines. Getting a recovery installed was a different story neither machine worked and after a couple days of frustration I tried the autorec app which did the trick.
Try a different USB cord, also uninstall and reinstall the drivers you might have the wrong driver installed.

LG G5 Bootloop

Hi there,
I recently bought a cheap lg G5 from eBay which said it was stuck on a bootloop. The seller said they weren't very tech savvy and I decided to give it a try, seemed fun. I have never done this before, so when searching on Google I stumbled upon threads saying it should be rather easy to fix by using LG Bridge and let it recover/repair the installation. However, after installing LG Bridge and LG Drivers from their website , every time I boot the phone in Download mode and it progresses into a firmware updating screen, my Windows 10 64bit fails to connect the device properly and prompting me with the following message:
USB device not recognized.
The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it.
And in device manager it shows "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed).
Is there anything I could try? Is it fixable like I thought?
Bump, anyone? Im stumped but would love tot learn about this

I have never had the experience to get a bootloop but my guess is that you have some driver problems, thats why its not well recognised by your computer.
Try to check if there is a youtube tutorial with some links to the drivers related to the G5.
Sorry if this isnt very helpful, but its the best I can add to this topic.

Or try with another pc running windows 7, maybe your OS and compatibility is the problem!
Definitely a driver issue! I had a similar problem with moto x4! It was not being recognised by my pc! Uninstalling the previous usb driver fixed it for me! Try to remove any remnants of drivers you might have installed previously.
Thank you for the replies. I also thought it would be a driver issue, however I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the LG drivers for the LG G5 multiple times and I did not get it to work. Unfortunately, I do not have a Windows 7 computer. Would it be possible to install windows 7 solely for this, without a license key?

If you can find a copy of it some where. You can use it for like 30 days or so before activation.
I do not know any coding, and have never even rooted a device, but i had this problem with stock rom 8.0, tried looking into flashing new stock rom installed all the drivers, still couldnt connect to pc. After 4 days with no phone i thought id throw my other battery in it, it booted up perfectly like it was out of the box, probably because i tried the restore in safe mode... Hope this helps... P.s. id like to learn
