Gear FIT 2 maps and gps data - Samsung Gear Fit

Hi I own a gear fit 2 and did some wlaking. It nicely shows my speed and heart rate on S Health. But I saw some pics with maps. Does anyone know how to make them visible, either on the fit2 itself or on S Haealth?

on fit 2: main menu, then training, then on the bottom: show log, then select your workout and scroll to the bottom for the map
on s health, (have it synced with fit 2), find the type of activity, then under trends you can find your workout and just tap it to get all the details

I found that already but it appears that there is not always a map there, at least when I did my first walk.. Maybe this has to do with having a gps fix or not.
One more thing: there is a whole bunch of data on that page, but I miss the number of steps I took. Is that still hidden somewhere (still used to my fitbit)?

I was just wondering myself. If you figure it out please post the solution.

Funny, I saw the OP but never say your reply since I was on my phone. I got back after my run and found the map exactly as you have laid out here. Thanks.

No map too
I have same problem today. I run and the GPS work well. I saw my running route displayed in the log but not the map. I tried sync with s health but it still did not work. Anyone know how to display the map so that I can share it on my facebook?

I tried your instruction. Still no map displayed

You must activate location checkbox on setting "exercice" in the Fit2 app
When you start an exercice you see the GPS icon (same that on the phone) blinking until the Fit2 Fix location.

Thanks dersie. But I can confirm the location is lit green by default. I never switch it off. In fact the GPS is working because I can see my running route been traced but there is no map.

Me too
I have a similar issue, but with me, the mapping only seems to work when connected to the phone via bluetooth. if the phone is not present, then the mapping does not work. Is this the case?

The map is sending by the phone at least first time. So I think the Fit2 can not display a map if it is not received (so not paired) by the phone. GPS record only GPX data but it need map picture to stack data on real map.

Hi, anyone got the solution to display map on gear fit 2?

It worked for me once when I was hiking in Korea. The map was displayed in both my fit2 and later in my facebook posting. After I returned to Singapore (my home), I used fit2 for runs twice and no map appeared on my watch both times. I also cannot display the map in my facebook as a result. I will go down to Samsung service centre to ask for their advice soon. Stay tuned for updates.

Is your phone connected to data (3G/4G) during the exercise? if not, then you can maybe try it and tell us.
Of course the Bluetooth between the smartphone and the gear fit 2 must be activated.
I think that since the Gear Fit 2 doesn't have the map of every country on his memory, it has to get those data through the phone.

The problem is how to load our local map into the Gear Fit 2.

Would like this solution as well. I purchased mine from Korea, am currently residing in Singapore which doesn't display the map on my fit 2.

Please let me know. Thanks!

I believe because the Korean set use Naver Map instead of Here Map used by the international set, you can see Naver logo bottom left of the map in your fit2 device. Naver map only cover korea and Japan I think.
The map should be embedded inside the firmware, need to find a way to flash it with international/US set firmware

I have the same problem. I solve doing a Light reset. The mapping with the trajectory become visible
And after 4 days the problem returns. A Ligh reset again ...

I'm in the same boat, I don't see anywhere in the Gear Fit2 app or on the watch itself to display or access GPS data. As far as I can tell, there's no "Training" section anywhere on the watch
e: Ok, so under the exercise tab, you can scroll down and view the log, but still no GPS data or maps are present, though you can drill down into an activity and it'll tell you the time, mileage, and calories and offer to share with facebook

That's exactly the screen that the GPS data *should* be on. The one that lets you share on FB. So once you get your phone to download the map data and have a clear view of the sky at the same time, while having started an exercise on the fit itself (like walking, for instance), you should see the map data.
Just wish they'd let you do a bit more with the map after the fact. Like satellite view, for instance...

I'd love a native app with a map / gps coordinate showing. There's Plenty of space to do 1 state at a time. Where are all the devs when you need them lol

Multi-time zone watch faces?

I've moved to the Zenwatch after the demise of Pebble. With the Pebble, I used a face that showed four time zones, which I found very useful. I'm trying to get the Zenwatch to show multiple time zones, but the watch face designer doesn't provide that and the built-in faces only show one additional zone - and that is shown in such small text that it is unusable. Are there any better options?

Take a look at Watchmaker. There are a few Pebble-ish faces in that collection.
Thanks. I have not been able to find any multi-time zone watch faces that do what I need. I did find and install the Facer App, which has let me create my own that does mostly what I need: the problem is that the "master" time zone does not change when I change time zones. For example, I have the watch showing NY at top, "local" in a larger font below that, then LA and Paris below. It worked perfectly in Maryland. I flew to San Diego last week and while the time changed correctly on my phone, the local time on the watch remained at Maryland local time. If I switch to the built-in faces, it shows the correct local time zone, but switching back to Facer still shows the wrong lcal time. (The Pebble had a similar issue, resolved by re-sending the settings - that doesn't help with Facer and my Asus.)

Sounds like "Business Time' (one of my favourites). Watchmaker has 'Pebble Big Time', which is reminiscent of 'Aspire'. Check it out.

[Bug] Sport Item Order doesn't work for 6 data fields

I want report a bug, that several users have already confirmed with CN and US Rom and Amazfit Watch app from Mi Store and Play Store.
If the watch is set to 4 data fields for activities, the sport item order can be rearranged in the Amazfit Watch app, and the 4 fields will be shown correctly during exercise.
But if however the watch is set to 6 data fields, it ignores the sport item order from the app and shows always the same set. This is especially annoying as we can't see e.g. the average pace during a trail run.
Is there a correction with another rom?pacefield, US, CN???
Thanks
I have the same issue. I change the order of the fields in the app but they don't change on the watch. (( What should I try?
No solution yet for 6 fields. If you need a custom set, you have to switch to 4 fields only.
It doesn't even work with 4 fields. How do you make the change? Do I need to start an activity first?
Of course, how else do you want to see that it works?
If you change the order in the Amazfit app and you don't start an activity on the watch, you wont see anything on the watch. Strange question or I misunderstood you.
I think you misunderstood me.
I mean does it matter what's the consequence of the process? Does it matter if:
1) First I arrange the fields in the app and then start the activity, or
2) I must start an activity and then change the order in the app while the activity is on, or
3) another option?
So far it's not working and I thought there could be another proper way to do it.
My last tests are from the time of the first post. So, long time not checked. I always use 6 fields and can live with the default order.
But it should be logical that only made settings in the app can be used in an activity. Changes after a finished activity has no effect to the already done things. The sport item order screen is only visible while an active workout.

[APP] Standalone navigation app for Wear OS!

I made a standalone navigation app for Wear OS! Here's the link to the app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.co.onibaku.standalonewearmap
Here's the full description on the app so you can get a glance at the features:
Users can type in a location, or long press on the map to input a destination. They can choose to travel via walking, cycling or car.
The app will navigate the user from their current location to the destination using turn-by-turn navigation. Each step is highlighted on the path, with text to show you what action to take, and how long until you reach that step. The map rotates along with the device, so will follow the forward-facing direction of the watch.
The app only needs an internet connection for the initial retrieval of the directions. After that, it solely relies on GPS until the user arrives at the destination.
This (obviously) only works on watches that have GPS.
If you have any suggestions at all, I'd love to know them.
The next feature I plan to implement is importing a GPX file in from Google Drive, so you can navigate a more unorthodox/scenic route, which would suits cyclists. I initially developed this for when I go cycling, as we don't usually want to take the fastest route somewhere.
Let me know if there any burning features that are needed in this, and I'll do my best to deliver. This is a small side-project, so I don't have too much time to work on it, but I find it quite useful personally, and I hope others will, too.
Someone suggested I release a demo version so people can try it and see if they wish to buy it. I have released one here
It only has the dropped pin functionality, and only allows walking as a navigation mode. The zoom is also locked.

This is looking really good. I want true standalone navigation on my Huawei Watch 2 4G. It has a sim so loads the route standalone and seems to be able to do everything expected...i'm trying the demo version now.
One question though...unless i'm missing something..how do you exit the app? I'm currently having to force close it.
(And as a side note have you checked out the Wear OS app Ghostracer? You can import a gpx file and follow your progress on a map on the watch. Maps are downloadable to the watch, although ive never tried that. My watch has a sim so updates the map as im riding using the watches data. Heavy on the battery though.)

I had not realised that the app does not cease to use GPS whilst it is in sleep mode, so I have added a button to exit the app properly when you drag down. I've just released it now.
I have had a look at it, but it doesn't seem to work unless you have an android phone. I am currently looking into offline maps and importing GPX files. Do you know if it does that via the android app, and how it imports it? I was looking to use Google drive, as that seems to be the only viable storage solution supported on Wear atm.

Thankyou for the exit button, works great. Having tested the demo app i'm happy, and I will purchase. One further comment, the battery drain is heavy, as expected. Any chance of an ambient mode while the map is running to save battery? I may be pushing my luck, but I can only ask!
Ghostracer does indeed need a companion Android app on the phone. The gpx file is loaded into the app on the phone (using a file manager) then passed to the Ghostracer app on the watch. Maps are treated the same, but I just use the data from my sim in the watch to load maps as I ride when needed. You can follow a gpx route standalone on the watch in a similar way to following the route on your app. I am not connected to Ghostracer in any way, I just think its a wonderful app for cyclists and runners (within the watches battery limitations). And the free version allows you to test all its features. It might not be right for you, but it was worth a mention based on what you said earlier. (And the map screen has an ambient mode.... )

Great . I did play around with the ambient mode, but it was just the same as the standard google maps ambient mode. It takes away the turn-by-turn, location, and path. If I could persist these, and set the GPS to update every 30 secs - 1 minute, I'd probably keep it, but I'm not sure how. I'd like to stick in options to set the GPS update frequency, or have the screen turn back on only for upcoming turns.
That's really cool! That's essentially what I would have liked on my watch but standalone. I really don't like the idea that you HAVE to use a companion app, especially when it's not available for iOS. I know they're competing watches, but I love the price point of android watches compared to Apple's, and their features shouldn't pale in comparison by way of hardware.
How does their ambient map work, if you don't mind me asking? I'd like to look into it. What does their paid version allow you to do? I only had a paid version before someone mentioned to put the free one on, just to give people a flavour of it. I tried to emphasise the main bit, which was the turn-by-turn navigation. The search and other transportation modes were secondary.
Cheers for the feedback and suggestions, though! I really do appreciate it! Let me know if there's anything else you'd like.

Ghostracers ambient map is black background with white markings until you lift your wrist...but that might not work when using your app while driving (watch off the wrist?).
I've now purchased your app (Google made that hard work!)...all still good. One question...when I zoom the map in the map un-zooms straight back. Any way to make the zoom stick?

Do the markings include the path/trail? I've used the black background one before, and the building outlines are (kinda) white. Yeah, I do have my watch affixed to my handlebars on my bicycle.
Great - Thanks! It's much appreciated! How come it was hard work, if you don't mind me asking? Ah, yep. That was one of the first things I forgot to change! I completely forgot about it! I've made it so that if you zoom/pan, it'll stick unless you press the "my location" button again.

Hi ruggs1234, it was a long time since you wrote your experience with this app. I downloaded the demo today and I tested it. Looks like since last Google's update, the huawei watch 2 doesn't use its built-in standalone GPS. Please, would you mind to check whether you are having this problem now? The only way I got it work was by connecting the watch to a phone through Bluetooth.
Kind regards, Angel

Hello Angel,
The app still works ok on my watch, I tested it yesterday.
With my phone switched OFF I use my watches inbuilt sim to start the route (the app needs data to download the initial route, it can use the connected mobile but mine was switched off). I then switch off the sim in my watch and follow the route using only the gps in the watch. The app worked as it always has.
HOWEVER, my watch isn't running the latest version of Wear OS (it's running Wear OS 2.0, Home app 2.16). I never update anything Google if i'm not forced too, their updates often break more things than they fix. Everything I use on the watch works great and i'd like it to stay that way....
Hi,
well, I gave it a test (full paid version) - TicWatch 3 Pro 4g/LTE (all up to date). It doesn't work. All tested in standalone mode (no phone involved).
- app crashes when there is no GPS fix (GPS is on, but no fix yet)
- when I set an route to navigate (pin or search) it just endlessly shows progress circle and nothing else happens (GPS on with fix, LTE on and working)
So...
BR, Doman.
I installed the Demo version on my ticwatch 3 pro gps (updated everything to current versions and no modifications (yet))
App is starting, map is not showing, just the gps location button on the left and a white/grey screen. I can pin a location on the white screen and its actually getting a location next to me and tries to route there - but without any map showing.

[App] Speed for Amazfit (Stratos only)

Hi,
I want to introduce you my new App for Amazfit Stratos.
It has an App for your watch and an App for your mobile. It records your routes and allows you to upload them to Google Fit and Strava.
The main difference between this one and the default one is the size of the numbers. This one is good for people with presbyopia like me
You can download the Apk for the watch reading the App Help here https://bilbosoft.wordpress.com/2018/10/23/help-speed-for-amazfit/
The mobile App is hosted at Google Play https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pacosal.speedforamazfitmobile
Try it and give me feedback.
Thanks
Any feedback?
nice work!
How does it interacts with the built-in system? do you rely on your own connection to Strava?

The Watch App records the route and when you finish, it sends it to the mobile App that uploads it to Strava
I like the idea since this could be another step to a completely offline solution. Are the data fields costumable? Why do you use blue background? Black on white or white on black seems to me giving the best contrast.
Can't try this out though, since I own a Pace.
If have this app for the Sony Smartband Talk SWR30 and the issue is the distance displayed with 100m resolution. Not very usefull for walk, better for motor engine

Hi Pacosal,
I am using Amazfit Stratos,
1) is this App calculate the distance itself or read the distance from sport activity?
2) when using this App, is the watch will record the sport activity?

Installing ANY APK won't void warranty, and you can uninstall them any time you want, at most a factory reset will remove all installed APK.
That being said, if you get "wrong" distances on watch/Amazfit, you may want to check if 3D Data is enabled, it uses the altitude to calculate the correct distance. If it's disabled or OK, then try disabling auto-pause or choose something different than "stand still", as it's very sensitive and may produce errors.
I installed this app onto my Amazfit Stratos and test it (on vehicle),
During the test, ’Workout’ remain zero, what is it?
after i press, upper button, the App turn to ’pause’ , but immediately turn to ’running’ again, when the car stop, the App will also automatic turn to ’pause’, in the setting on the phone, i choose no ’automatic pause’, below is the setting on phone,
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CgFCZAanmtUoKXMCXw3lZSCCIF3G07Fa/view?usp=drivesdk
After the test, i press the middle button to stop, and select to save the track, below is the result shown on phone,
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1rY7jbxDPtGPHnflTWTfhspqZFXX5xG8l/view?usp=drivesdk
But the date and time shown very strange, ’workout’ also shown zero.
Also no track record sent to Strava, where I can download it?
Hi pacosal,
I like that app, congratulation for your work.
I was looking an app like this ... for running with my xiaomi m365 ... eheheheheh ... but the numbers (even so) are still small
Will it be possible to make a new screen only instantaneous speed and travelled distance ... with BIG BIG numbers? ehehehehehe
I don't understand this App !
Hello , I want to thank you first for you work on this app. I'm also did some apps for android with Eclipse....
But I tried the app, and the displays seem not very simple to understand on my stratos. When I'm moving I can't also identify where is the speed ? the total time ? almost is 0000, sometimes a number seems to be the km/h but not very sure and not accurate at all. Idem for time. There is still to worrk !

Hi,
I want to introduce you my new App for Amazfit Stratos.
It has an App for your watch and an App for your mobile. It records your routes and allows you to upload them to Google Fit and Strava.
The main difference between this one and the default one is the size of the numbers. This one is good for people with presbyopia like me
You can download the Apk for the watch reading the App Help here
Try it and give me feedback.
Thanks

Hello pacosal,
Thanks very much for the app. A very useful layout of the screen.
I just have one problem. You say that the right top button should be used start/stop. However in my case this button always sends me back to the home screen. I see no way to configure that differently. So I don't see a way to start recording. What am I missing?
Just one spelling hint, stopped is written with two "p"'s.
Thanks again!
Hi,
Thank you for developping apps for Stratos.
I'm also a presbyopia (as majority of >50 years old).
I'm looking for a simple app which displays the date of the day such as : Monday 29 May with very very big fonts.

Amazifit-App 3.0.0-play Holy crap

What did they do? Today they released 3.0.0-play on Play Store.
My verge have to be "activated"....ok
No more HF curves, ohne a Table with numbers. See picture, Pulse=HF
The app will be unclear from version to version.
My point of view? They killed herself. Im out after 6 Month if this is the result. The "Verge" count steps, but the cant show it in the app - and so on and so on.
****ty update. On pace the heart rate and steps no longer sync with the phone app. Also I'm always asked to have the location on on my phone in order to connect with the watch? No, Thanks!
Delete the app and reinstall it, I just updated too now, but it did not work properly not even with clear cache. Once I reinstalled and updated it's pretty cool actually, it's basically Mi Fit now. It even added my old data that I had synced from an Amazfit BIP. The table with numbers appears if you have manual measurements enabled on the watch, if you have it on continuously monitoring then it will show the curves too.
This has totally screwed ability to run mi fit & amazfit app in parallel (former for Google fit sync). Wouldn't let me log in for ages. Seems to have settled down now but now have no way to sync. Emailed support but last time I did for something they were as much use as a chocolate teapot. Let's see how they get on.
Update makes the App like Mi Fit ..its Okay. You have to disable continues heartrate ans enable it again to get the old continued overview (amazfit Pace)

Continious is enabeld, since day one. It must be enabled on the watch and thats OK and enabled. Notify App just draw my heart rate like yesterday with the previous version.....that shows me that all is OK, but the new app dosent show me all of that.
My Verge keeps failing to connect to this app. Have to downgrade to 2.9.0.

You have to go to Profile -> Amazfit Verge -> activate. I dont no what the developer drunks as hi script this, but it was the wrong thing.
After 24h i get a curve für HF and not only the table.
I miss the batterie level in the start screen.
My verge won't be recognized at all with new update
I had to re-register and create a new account on Amazfit so I could continue using Mi Fit (Mi Band 3) with Xiaomi account and Amazfit (Stratos) with Amazfit account. Otherwise they can't work simultaneously anymore.

I faced that too. During bar code scanning it won't recognise the watch. I have to use 2.9.0 to pair.
In 3.0.0 after the watch lost connection with the phone (i.e. go out for a run without bring the phone). It will not connect to the phone again (forever lost connection). I have to reboot the phone to connect.

I thought the same, but after some manual check of heart rate, some sync all heart rate is showing as was before and if say honest i love now this app, it became much more better, giving good advises, also there are much more option like to edit sleep time, weight and ec t. So app became full sport tracking app... Ok ok almost, need calories add option, but anyway it very good step to forward. All yours information is, just try to find it. Some of them is in sport, some of yours profile and ect. By the way now Amazfit app giving much more information, analyzes and ect. Did i mentioned that i love now this app? Cheer up it became much more... better, powerful, informative and many more.... :highfive:
P.S. They showing steps, and you know what's new? They showing how much you need into yours daily target, so nice... Keep smiling, believe me app is much more better just need some time to find everything, cuz was changed a little bit design, but now app showing much more as was before with much more tools to change if something was incorrect like sleep tracking... Even you can now control yours weight what wasn't before...
DID I MENTIONED IT TRANSLATED NOW TO NATIONAL (my) LANGUAGE? What do you want MORE???

There is no any problems now with app, for me it working without any issues/bugs and etc. Maybe you just need to check and time to know everything... My Verge have latest update, app is 3.0.0 too If say honest enough easily i found everything and now i have really good tool of my health tracking

If you want to see battery level you have to go in profile section now, actually as was before, where is all watch faces, alarms, weather and ect.
GUYS and GIRLS!!! If you don't know something it doesn't mean that it bad - that DEDICATED for all which don't know about this app and screaming here that this is app is now worst... App is very good if say honest i did not saw better version of this app yet until now... Thanks to Amazfit/Huami/Xiaomi developers, but now app is best which was until now Cheer up!!! :victory: I did not found everything too, but i checked a little bit everything and i found: heart rate, steps, sleep, weight, battery level and ect. Everything is in app and much more. Just look in all app's section first and then scream here... Everything is in app as was before + new options, tools, information and ect.
Try to factory reset your watch and scan again? (As a new user)
For who the watch doesn't connect with new Amazfit app, that's my workaround; clear app cache
For who doesn't receive notifications in watch, go to settings in phone and search access to notification and enable again
The translation to my language is atrocious. Barely makes sense half of the time. It's obvious that they have just machine translated from English.

Some text like: heart rate times/min, weight, see more statuses, compared with similar users (this text is in weight section), VO2 Max (all explain too), training load (all explain too), Amazfit verge profile all section (like: watch faces text, battery text, connected text and all section at all), almost all my record section wasn't translated at all, all text still is in english. Some text like in sleep section: light sleep is translated like slow sleep. But in general all other is translated good, i don't have any complaints. Need keep in mind that my language at all is one of hardest in the world, so i'm happy that at all is translation, even of advises and explains of most sections like sleep, weight and ect. I was suprised at all how some text at all was correct translated, i thought they have worker from my country as have (or had in past) biggest companies in the world, like: Google, Walt Disney and ect.
You cant Switch the View of Google Maps for runs (Like Terrain) as before..und Google sync does Not Work Any more... Thats the only disadvantages what i have found.
Alexa account login suddenly available in the 3rd party account but my watch's (Verga) widget is not loaded.
Wicked
Mine just faced problem with connection. App couldnt find my watch even bluetooth said already connected. In app it said "No paired devices, tap to pair" after tap>Watch>Amazfit Verge> .. It openned with scan "Place the code on Amazfit inside the frame" but what is the code ? Pls help.
Edit 1 : I've tried restart both watch and phone, still couldnot solve. Uninstall Amazfit App cant solve. Finally decided to Factory Reset now everything comeback working, QR code shown on watch then can scan with app it works fine now.
