LS990 lost rotation functionality after root - Sprint LG G3

Hi,
I used l33tlinuxh4x0r's excellent script (here) to root my G3 running ZVB. It took awhile because of recurring USB driver issues (my Windows machine has some wacky ports) but it went nicely other than the time I spent with that.
I haven't done much else. I'm thinking of trying a custom ROM like Fulmics v5.1, Bliss v6.4, or CM 12.1 but, for now, I've just granted root to a couple things including Xposed, and maybe that's the cause of this problem but I wanted to ask before doing anything else.
Images, web-pages, videos - nothing goes to landscape anymore when I turn the phone. I have the Rotation toggle ("Auto-rotate screen") active in the Notification Panel and, when I go to Display settings, I see that it's enabled there.
Always looking for welcome suggestions. So glad that xda is here. Thanks, always.

I disabled Xposed and the 'Greenify' & 'G3 Tweaks' modules which I'd added under its framework so, nope, that wasn't it.
One of the initial attractions for me to this phone was its display so this is sad for me.

[Q} Few Questions with Rooted Sero 7 Pro

Hey hey!
First, Thanks to xboxexpert for the amazing work for this thing. I bought the Sero 7 Pro blindly because it was cheap, searched from my phone before leaving the parking lot and found the rooting thread, AWESOME! Also, the HDMI throwing, awesome as well. :good:
Anyway, I've rooted this thing perfectly. Installed the CWM, then this:
[ROM] XE-SeroROM v².¹ 213 DPI [Slightly Stripped] P756.6.02.11.00 ... LOVE IT
(Did not install any custom Battery Mod)
Anyway, I seemed to have messed up something(very little and if I get no answers I would understand).
Somehow there is still a screenshot button, I liked it before when I installed the other one(v1 no wipe version) and it was gone, bo big deal, if anyone knows why its there now(says it should be gone?) let me know please ... If not, not a big deal. EDIT: forgot to mention it seems to be stuck on the "video" but the video that is playing is the one that is for like display models IN the store.... Quite annoying haha.
OK I also managed to somehow turn the "Daydream" thing on, but its stuck on "video" and won't let me change it off of there(I can DISABLE daydream, but once I enable it, stuck on video no matter how much I change it). I seem to remember me checking a box that told it to do this, but I can;t for the life of me remember where....Silly me :\
One more thing --
It seems a lot of the options in the "Tweakbox" that came loaded with the SeroROM v2 do not want to work? I do not know if this is because they are not compatible with this tablet or if I just seemed to mess something up, or just am doing something wrong.
Any/all help if greatly appreciated. None of these are huge issues and I might be able to figure it all out. I did try reading through about 1/2 the pages in the Sero 7 pro thread, but it seems that these questions have not been asked in there, at least not to my knowledge. THANKS AGAIN!!
re the screenshot button: it's a 2 (or 3) step process:
1. Flash the new ROM
2. Flash the tablet UI (that's the part that nukes the screen shot), and
3. Flash a battery display circle mod (optional).
re the Tweakbox. You have to activate the Xposed installer in order to activate Tweakbox -- including making sure that the Tweakbox module is checked and then rebooting. That said, I haven't found anything in Tweakbox that really floats my boat).
Re both of the above, check Post 3 in xboxexpert's thread carefully (there's a lot in there!)
re Daydream or the video, I can't help. Daydream works fine on mine (although I keep it turned off in the interest of faster charging).

LiquidSmooth v3.0 Beta

I'm running LiquidSmooth v3.0 Beta (LS-KK-v3.0-2014-02-13-dlx) on my Verizon DNA and I'm pretty happy with it. Big thanks to deadman96385, santod040, and anyone else who contributed to this project!
This is the first custom ROM I've run as a "daily driver" on my DNA after ~16 months on the stock ROM, so most of my impressions are in comparison with the most recent stock HTC software. I briefly tried CyanFox but switched back to stock. I also tried the "HTC One *STOCK* ROM Port" (DLX_WL_K442_SENSE55_MR_4.19.401.8) but couldn't get it to boot; actually flashing it messed up my recovery as well. I suspect maybe my download was corrupted since other people reported success with that ROM.
Back to LiquidSmooth:
- Perceived performance is generally pretty solid. It's mostly very smooth, living up to its name.
- I do get the occasional app crash (FC); haven't noticed a pattern yet. It's not frequent enough to bother me much.
- A few times I have had the phone become unresponsive when opening the recent apps view or when trying to unlock from the lock screen. But this hasn't happened in a few days. Could be the freezing was related to one of the features I tried and later disabled (see below), or just due to the ROM "settling in" (populating caches, etc.)
- Love KitKat and the add-on features:
- I'm using the "pie control" for quick access to apps, quick screen off, menu access, etc.
- I tried HALO and couldn't really figure it out / didn't find it useful.
- I like the idea of Active Display but it didn't work that well in combination with the way I use the lock screen, so I turned it off and use the lock screen's built-in active display features instead.
- I'm using the default Google Now launcher for the moment. I like the easy access to voice search and google now. Don't like that it doesn't have multi-touch for dragging icons between home screens.
I think the battery is draining faster than with the stock ROM, though it's hard to say because I've also been using the phone a lot more actively while I get it set up and configured the way I want. It may be that the active display feature of the lockscreen is using more power?
People in the development forum mention an over-the-air (OTA) update mechanism; I haven't been able to find that yet.
There's a new version posted called 03-05-14; I haven't tried that version yet.
Anyway, I'm quite happy with this ROM and imagine I'll stick with it for a while. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, fast, stable ROM, and in particular to anyone freshly rooted and looking for a solid ROM to try out KitKat and get a lot of great new features.
(note—maybe it would have made more sense to put this directly in the existing LiquidSmooth development thread, but I don't have permission to post there. And I'm not developing the ROM, just using it.)
Thanks again! Great ROM.
How much did they pay you? LOL
I tried it as well as all of the other KK AOSP ROMS. I really like AOSP.
I was on stock until viperDNA 2.0 came out, then I decided to S=OFF/ROOT/etc... and plugged Viperware in. It was awesome. Not an issue ever. So I wanted to give 3.0 a try, after trying every ROM out there (actually it kinda became like crack to me LOL).
So far after several days, it's 5x5, not an issue at all. On my phone, only the Viperware works as advertised.
That's not to say that Viperware doesn't have its issues, but I just haven't seen any yet. As I said I really like AOSP, but because Viperware uses Aroma installer, I can delete almost everything - which gives it a kind of AOSPishy look/feel.
My sig hits it; these developers (ALL of them) are amazing and do all of this for US on their own time for FREE. If I were a kagillionaire, I'd employ you ALL.
Hah! Thanks Yehuda. I started this thread because I wish there were more ROM reviews here on xda, since I don't really have time to try out every ROM. I appreciate your review of ViperDNA; maybe I'll try that next.
Update on LiquidSmooth: after a week or so I found that it wasn't as clean as I originally thought and went back to (rooted) stock for a while.

Cyanogenmod 12.0 Semi-Official
HTC Evo 4G LTE ( jewel )
Basic Overview
Source built Cyanogenmod 12.0 hot off the server. No changes at all to anything. Sync and build.
This has not been officially released as of yet. Still very early code, there will be random bugs, and missing features still. They are coming.
Please refrain from reporting bugs because of this. Thank you.
Besides that It seems good enough for a "Daily Driver". No major malfunctions, just the random glitches as the code evolves as normal.
Requirements:
S-Off, HBOOT 2.10+ & 4.13.651.4 Firmware Update to function correctly. @Captain_Throwback's TWRP 2.7.1.0b , 2.8.0.x, 2.8.1.x recoveries recommended.
NPL recovery though. That's the only catch here.
Installation...
Wipe, reboot recovery.
Install CM-12.0, reboot.
One it finishes booting, reboot to recovery.
Install gapps, wipe dalvik & cache, reboot.

First Android 5.0 ROM for Jewel that works... And based off of one of the best Android 4.4.4 ROMs there was for Jewel as well. Enjoy everyone. Much more to come.
Cool. Sounds good. I may give it a try, just to say that I have 5.0. But I would like to have the camera working... But it is probably something that I can live with.
I've tried a flash, for the first time I experienced stuck in the boot, after I restarted again and then succeed, what becomes of bugs on camera?I have tried to take a picture with my camera and it worked fine, but I want to report that when opening the case of mobile networks in settings force close , thanks for dev , sorry for my bad english

First off, great work beating me to the punch on this. I was tinkering with CM 12 code all month.
Secondly, I can repeat what was said previously. I got a bootloop the first time, but after I turned it off, it booted up fine.

Ok. Camera bugs. I don't know. I just cut what lines out the compiler broke because of. And I have no cam. Idk why. My mobile network seems fine.. But come on guys. This is early code, so there's going to be bugs I have no control over. That would be more CMs thing. I just am basically doing what LSX64 did. No boot loop for me either. Weird...
I was saying this rom is running great thanks for the hard work. :good: I didn't expect to see a 5.0 rom for this phone. so thanks again for this rom.

I can say that as long as I've got my Jewel, and as long as the code works, I'll be cranking things out. I'm really partial to Slim series ROMs, but I was super eager to try out L so I flashed this one. Also, it looks like CM is going to continue to support this thing for the foreseeable future. Once they start their nightly builds, it should be available there, too. Though, without the extra butter.
Thanks for the work and the build.

Well done! Glad to have you back!
This is working surprisingly well for a first build. The first KitKat builds were total garbage, comparatively.
I'm using it as a daily driver for now. The latest Beta SuperSU will get you properly rooted on LP too. I'll post the link when a bit later (have to find it again), but Google will get you there for now.
Issues (none of which are controllable by the OP) and fixes
Issue one - keyboard doesn't always pop up like it's supposed to. So far I've been able to fix it every time by simply turning my phone sideways, then back.
Issue two - Sometimes not all choices are viewable in pop up boxes. I was able to get around this by changing screen density to 280.
Issue 3 - APN menu doesn't do anything of value. To change apn settings, download sql editor. Open telephony.db which is located at data/data/android.providers.telephony/databases. Then locate the 310120 lines and edit the values as you normally would for your carrier. Your phone will now use the desired APN settings.
Is it possible to turn off your modem like it was in 4.4? I don't see any option for that anywhere. The reason being is that I don't like my phone downloading things when I don't tell it to. It wastes my data, and gets annoying.

Theoretically that is what I was looking for. But now that I'm testing my phone, I realized that I'm not able to actually make or receive calls. Idk if that was because of the widget or what. It might also be a carrier problem.
EDIT - It was a carrier problem, but caused by what, I can't say.

Agreed, GPS locks seem slow. Might be what we are stuck with given the cm12 fix.
Havent been on any other gproj ROMs to compare.
Google camera
Does all functions work in the google camera (panorama, photo sphere and lens blur)? Right now I'm using CM12 official with Solid Kernel and only regular photo and video is working.

Actually, that's a problem with all the lollipop roms that I have tried for the e970 (and most of the KK, except for some the MAKO based). Seems that our camera is quite difficult to please....
BTW dandrumheller, it seems that you have tried most of the roms out there for our device, which one did you find more stable? At the time I'm using the official CM12 with Solid Kernel and in my opinion is really good (except for the camera and the bluetooth address, which aren't dealer breakers for me). Thanks.

I actually haven't tried many of the Lp roms. Candy5 has been the most stable and battery efficient for me. Had some issues with bsod on beanstalk 5.0, though 4.4 versions were excellent. Blisspop has been quite stable, but uninspiring in terms of battery life. My phone hates solid kernel - tons of freeze and crash issues. In general I seem to have better luck with mako based roms. Have not tried CM12 yet.

Cool. I might try Candy5 and see how it goes. Thanks for you answers!
I'm having an issue where the contact names aren't showing up in the stock messenger, or gosms (haven't tried at other). The full number shows, but never the names. I've tried clearing caches and data on contacts and messengers. Tried resyncing the contacts from Google. I've double checked the privacy guard settings. Basically, I've searched around and tried everything I can think of, but still no luck! So I figured I'd ask the experts! Any ideas???
Ive noticed a few other minor issues. ...
I've had the problem with not being able to move the download, as someone mentioned above. Ive had to connect to PC, transfer from phones internal storage to the PC, then back to EXT SD card in the phone.
The 2/13 build does seem to be a little harder on the battery, and runs a lil warm (also mentioned above). I haven't had any crashing issues, but can feel the temp difference over the average.
Possibley related to the heat and battery issues; I noticed that there are two interfaces for the CPU/GPU clocking and scheduling, under the Performance section of System Settings. Maybe there's a conflict happening there? From memory, I don't remember the "Device Control" section being there in the previous build. It seems redundant to have both. Although Device Settings is much more robust, and I would prefer it be integrated instead of keeping the old, minimal interface. Some adjustments to Device Settings, while disabling the other minimal settings on boot, seems to have helped with heat and battery drain a little bit.
No problems with GPS, that I've noticed
Titanium Backup v6 has problem gaining root access in all cm12 ROMs I've tried. To fix, go to Titanium BU Preferences, scroll to bottom, select Troubleshoot Options (or something like that), and highlight/select the option to force the app to use the SYSTEM busybox, not the one baked into Titanium BU. Restart the app, and root works. Also worth mentioning is that you may have to enable root access under Developer Options in System Settings before any app can gain root. Otherwise, no issues with root, or Super SU.
Hi,
After using Beanstalk 4.4 for several months, finally I tried first LP based ROM BlissPop...so far it seem good, only couple of crashes in last week, few issues are present that are highlighted already (like camera panorama not working...battery life affected).
Since last couple days, the strange issue is being encountered, when i get a call, phone rings but there is no interface to receive the call, i then have to go to call screen and there it says "return to the active call" when i click, i get to the screen where i can receive the call. This started happening without any updates so not sure what caused it? I even tried latest version of ROM but same issue present.
Any ideas?
P.S: thanks to everybody who contributes to this excellent site, i have been a regular reader of the site but got to post something today for the first time.

Okay, it turned out to be a feature that some one must have activated on my cell (my little kiddo likes to tinker with my cell)
In App Notification section, Dialer was blocked and that was causing it to not show up whenever i got a call.
Its working great now

system control issue
I went through all 9 pages of the thread and didnt notice anyone else having this issue. In 2.2 under performance and then system control app when one goes to features and then vibration intensity it just force closes on me...is anyone else having this issue? Any suggestions on what I can do to fix?
So I'd like to see what was being discussed in the normal thread for this great rom but the following link isn't working and since I'm a forum baby I'm not allowed to post in the grownup thread... Can anyone help me out with this? Does anyone check this side of the thread?

Also, the last build(the one before latest) ... The vibration control in performance>device control was fixed and working.... In the latest build it's broken once again and force closing every time I select it. Just wanted to mention in case no one is aware of it.
So if 4.8.15 is the latest build why does the ota update app found in the app drawer ask me to update to the latest version so my configuration will be appropriate for ota updates? Is there something specific I have to do in order for that feature to work properly?
Lol is this thing on?

MoKee 10 fixes battery drain issue on clover WiFI-only models

PSA for @Wizballs and any other miPad 4 owners of the WiFI-only model...
Most of us have probably been looking for a ROM that is actively and officially developed that doesn't have the bug where it looks for the non-existing SIM card and drains the battery during standby. I'm happy to report that MoKee appears to use a different base than most ROMS for clover that are based on LineageOS, and MoKee 10 for clover seems to work really well. I left my device in Airplane mode for 7 hours, and the battery percentage was exactly the same as I left it. Finally!

A few other observations and first impressions:
I hate the tacky cartoonish boot animation, but the com.jrummy.apps.boot.animations app works fine to change it after rooting with Magisk.
For the initial setup screen the default option is Chinese, but just scroll down until you see your language, it appears to support all the usual ones.
I didn't install GApps, but somehow it still has the official Gboard keyboard with swipe enabled out of the box.
For some reason on my first install it didn't have a camera app. Then I wiped it and reflashed it and now it has a camera (org.mokee.snap). I honestly don't understand how it could be different from one flash to another, but at any rate it appears to be quite a nice camera with lots of configurable options and a working panoramic mode, which is rare in AOSP based ROMs.
The default gallery app is also good, SimpleMobileTools Simple Gallery Pro, which is my preferred open source gallery app. Some ROMs preinstall Simple Gallery, but it's not the pro version and it's much more limited, and it conflicts with the Pro version when you try to install it over top of it. MoKee does it right from the start.
Lots of configurability in the settings, including an option to control the cursor with the volume keys and on the bottom bar, which I find extremely useful. Only missing option is putting the date on the status bar next to the clock.
Working notification LED, unlike ArrowOS.
So this has been a great find. I'll report back if I find anything else. Thanks a lot to the devs if any see this thread.
Nice find and PSA
I just had a quick read about Mokee, and it appears to be a legit rom.
- From what I've read, playstore is installable
- States open source, get a tick for that
- Any chance you've run a quick virus/malware scan?
- I can see a few 'experimental' builds for 11.0, I'll keep an eye on that progress..
Cheers

Hi there, no I haven't run any malware scans, I don't have much faith in the antivirus/anti-malware sort of programs due to the false positives and FUD that they seem to depend on. I can give it a shot though if you know of any trustworthy ones.
Yes, the Play Store should be installable, they have normal Gapps packages that they recommend at the downloads page. I prefer to run with MicroG instead and I use the Aurora store. A small disadvantage is that MoKee doesn't support signature spoofing out of the box (needed for MicroG), but with Magisk and NanoDroid I got it working.
I also saw the 11.0 builds, maybe we should try to post over on their forum to let them know that there are some very interested and determined clover owners still out there.

The only scanner I really use is ESET for windows, and new android roms and then uninstall after scanning. I've never got a false positive from it.
But I'm downloading Mokee now to give it a try...
So far so good. I'll leave it sit now for 24 hours and report back on standby battery use. And yes I think posting a thanks in their forums is a good idea. And will just be a thanks as there are no real issues to report! Actually is a very well finished and working ROM.
Couple or more points:
- Mokee recommended gapps (opengapps) just wouldn't install - error code 64
- Nikgapps installed and ran perfectly fine however. lol.
- USB debugging turned on by default, some users like me will want to turn this off
- Does appear to be a lineageos base, but only a guess
- Can actually turn off double tap to wake. Arrow stayed on regardless of setting. Wonder if this will help standby battery marginally? I have flip case that turns screen on, works with this rom
- ESET scan 100% clean
- Disabled a few of useless apps (like I do with every ROM, without root) using:
adb shell
pm uninstall -k --user 0 package.name
- Nutflix not available directly from Playstore. Not a problem, install using SAI
- Encryption turned on by default (great!)
- Lately I'm finding that built in launchers are giving me the best stability / performance in any ROMS . Always used nova in the past.
- Turned off that status bar upload/download speed doobie. Personal preference.
- Appears to have OTA updater, will give a spin next update
Overall, awesome so far
Good find @sb56637
@Wizballs Great, and I'm glad it scanned clean too.

Yep, although there are a few quirks here. First is that they limit the download speed to about 250 KB/s for non-donators, fair enough. But the bigger issue is that it downloads it to the internal storage (obviously), which MoKee automatically encrypts, so normal TWRP can't see it and it can't be installed. They supposedly have a MoKee flavor of TWRP that works with the encryption. I briefly tried to download it, but it was a Baidu site in Chinese that offered me Linux packages (DEB or RPM), which didn't make sense, so I stopped there. But I'll look into it more again and report back.
Fair enough, will stick to manual updates then. Would prefer to keep stock twrp.
Approx 2.5% battery over 24 hours standby. Very good.
I decided to switch to the MoKee flavor of TWRP, linked here in a more accessible location:

With that flashed, OTA updates work well. (Plus it allows for manipulating /system and /data from the TWRP file manager, which is very useful sometimes. Plus, it allows for flashing other scripts like Magisk from TWRP, which adds an addon.d hook to allow it to survive upgrades.)

Quick post to note that in later Android versions (from A10+?) the default launcher is always in charge of displaying recents, so it can't/shouldn't be uninstalled -- this may explain stability issues...

I never uninstalled the default browser, just left it there while using nova...
Look at that battery saving. Worldwide could account to millions dollars saved each year

Can you share the Mokee recovery via a different link? That link doesn't work and the one on Mokee's website points to Baidu, which seems to require a Baidu account to download. I can't create a Baidu account though, since it requires you to use a China mobile number to register.
UPDATE:
NVM, found the link via another XDA thread. Here it is:
TWRP-20200628-3.3.1.0-clover.img
drive.google.com
This ROM is missing face unlock, which isn't a big deal considering that the battery life is a big improvement over the last ROM I was using, but still would be nice to have...
