Hello,
Does someone know a solution for mapping the hardware buttton that normaly launch internet explorer? I would like to use it for X/closing cause I'm already tired to go on the upper side of the screen. i.e. when you put a new meeting with the keyboard, it is hard to go to the cross (up and right) for "saving" the new meeting.
I just bought this phone cause it has a good harware keyboard, but it's not important for me to have a direct access to internet explorer.
Thanks for your replies!!

Which button are you talking about?
I use AE Button to assign the Voice Recorder button to the OK/Close function and it works brilliantly. You can assign single press, long press and double press to different functions. It's a great little app that takes up very little system resources.
I'd still like to know which button is the Internet Explorer button because I didn't know we had that feature!
EDIT: Okay I just realised that you probably have the 16 key version whereas mine is the 20 key version
that's it, I've got the 16 key keypad. I really miss teh Ok/close button, caus I have to grip off my phone for going to the upper right corner of the screen and come back to the keypad....
AE button, doesn't work for this button, neither Vito button...
Anyone an other solution

Why doesn't AE Button Plus work?
I use it for OK/Close and it works perfectly well
So I must not have using it the good way.
But wich button are you talking about, cause with AE button, it only "see" the three external button (wich are on the side). I know that you can assign every button with AEbutton, but when I assign the internet key for ok/close, it close the app the first time I use it and then the key come back to its previous function (internet explorer). Someone a reg trick?
I have the 16 key version too and want the same, an ok button on the keyboard. button utilities only recognize the hardware buttons and not the keyboard buttons so there is no way to map these. hopefully someone will update their utility to include the keyboard buttons.
cheers,

"happy" to see that I'm not the only one who don't suceed by trying to change the function of the internet explorer button on a 16 keypad of a dual for using it with the ok/close button...
I found the camera button akwardly placed (kept launching the damn thing by accident) and dont use the camera much - so I remapped the cam button to OK/Close and have found this does the job for me. Not really a solution I know, but it wokrs for me.
Yes AE Button is great, but while you can map any key like Mail or IE, it will still launch the old app, we'd have to find a way to not launch the old app, in the registry possibly.

I have found the same. Has anyone managed to map IE button succesfully? Also there is a pause/delay when using buttons handled by AE Button, has anyone else noticed this?
any updates!? i think it can be done in the registry though i don't know how. hope that someone can crack this.

I have found a rudimentary solution. Add the IE key using AE Button Plus and run the following Mortscript (I am still a novice scripter) to close IE when it opens automatically and then run Opera Mini.
WaitFor("Internet Explorer",5)
Close("Internet Explorer")
Run("\Windows\jbed.exe", "-run s0_")
It works for me. If anyone has any suggestions on improving it, please let me know.
anythig new about this, pls?
thx

Did anyone has a solution for this? Have been searching to change Ok/Enter and IE buttons. AEBPlus doesnt really work perfectly and eat into RAM..
Can we change registry? lnk? read somewhere about long_press_xxxx.ink but dont find it in our Nike.
Anybody found a solution for this? I've tried everything but couldn't map the IE button on my 16-key Nike to OK/Close.
Dear Developers,
I got a quick question:
is it possible to change the function of the menu button to the muti tasking function instead?
if so is it possible to be a APK file format and installation for it to work on a stock phone?
if no, then i guess it has to be rooted? if thats the case, does that mean most applications will lose the menu button? cant be the same as the Nexus phone where all applications has a on screen menu button?
OR just do a swap between the two functions? holding down the home key gives the menu function whereas the menu function gives the muti tasking function.
thanks in advance,
Best Regards,
E
It's possible, but I don't know how the menu button will show up then, and having that ugly HTC-esque navbar with one button is not the way it should be...
sorry, it i just me or anyone else finds the menu button pretty useless.
holding down the home button to bring the multi tasking up is too slow in my opinion.
would be great if someone can just switch the two functions of menu and multi.
thanks tho

I dont find is useless.
What i find useless is you can get the same menu just by pressing on your homescreens or longpress there, so 3 ways to get that menu up.
On the matter on what button brings up the task manager, i really dont care. After a few days i got used to it being behind the home button.
Hi, I found some old threads about changing keylayout and stuff, but nothing recent (you know: since JB) and I just got the phone yesterday.
Right now, the phone does this:
Menu button press: menu
Menu button hold: Google Now (search)
Home button press: Home
Home button double-press: SVoice
Home button hold: Recent Apps
Back button press: Back
And I would like it to do this:
Menu button press: Recent Apps
Menu button hold: menu
Home button press: Home
Home button double-press: nothing
Home button hold: Google Now (search)
Back button press: Back
I'm kinda surprised that I can't find an app for this, as it really just seems like I'd be changing a little bit of text inside some config/layout files.
FWIW, I'm running completely stock but I rooted it yesterday. No ROM has been flashed, and I would love to keep it that way. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Biggidy biggidy bump
My thread got pushed off the front page faster than I could find Google Now on my new phone.

Thanx - nice find!
It still doesn't accomplish what I want, though... And I am a HUGE proponent of keeping things simple. My least favorite thing about Windows 8? All those muthereffin gestures that you need to memorize. It's not simple, and you have to completely relearn how to use an OS that you've been using for ages.
Hi Guys
I broke the capacitive buttons on my S3. Looking for the best software solution. Ideally a button remapper where I can assign the back button to the power button for back.Long press for power. Or even use the middle button long and short presses etc.
Many Thanks

You'll need root to remap I would expect.
You could also enable the NavBar:

A simpler solution could be lmt launcher...which needs root access...or pie control from the play store...both apps use on screen buttons rather than capacitive
navbar is the best solution
Thanks Guys, Was really hopping for a button remap option but thanks any way. Il try those options.
Cheers
I'd not noticed this before but it seems the RN3 left hand button is a recents button on press and a menu button on long press. This prevents the handy split screen feature from working in CM14 and above on this button. I can get this feature to work by adding a "Long press action" to the home button in settings however I would like it to work the same as my other Android devices.
Any thoughts on how this can be changed? I've had a mess in the keyboard layouts (where I also removed the long press on fingerprint to start the camera as it's annoying) but no luck with this.
Thanks.
EDIT: After changing the values again in Settings->Buttons this now seems to be working as it should. Odd.
