I insert the battery into the module then the module into the phone. I turn on my phone and I get a message that says, "Insert a compatible module to turn on your phone." What do I do?
I think the modules are region specific....I'm sure that's what I've read.

There is such thing as import, so it doesn't matter where you got it, also there is two version available, I think it's listed in LG site about compatibility to which carrier.

If you have an ATT G5 you will need an ATT specific camera module for your phone. All other camera modules from the different carriers will not work. I know from experience.
But why is that? That isn't even logical...

That's what happens when consumers are at the hands of the carrier's plans and policies. We are stuck to that carrier's specific branding. Namely ATT and Verizon.
Yep, found out the hard way too. The ATT is the 720, and all others are the 700 model. Makes no sense at all.

Anything right now about this is just pure speculation.
Right now it is thought they are pretty much identical to Sprint / AT&T models, except for maybe multi-window feature. It seems like there are updates that have been rolled out/will soon be available by carrier and a modified ROM that is supposedly going to be released on XDA that has the feature.
only known difference is home button branding on verizon only.

I thought the leads on the Sprint version were covered up by something.
There are some different pre-installed apps on the various carrier branded versions. Hardware is the same as far as I know, minus possibly the battery. I think carriers may also offer slightly different color variations as well, similar to the SGS3. For the most part though, Samsung has stopped making 400 different configurations of one phone and are making one phone and just changing the software around for the various carriers instead.
I'm curious if the Verizon version will be quad-core.

There's no need to be curious. It is quad-core.
Hardware will only be different in color/branding, and any changes to the radio chips/firmware so they work with VZWs network. Other than that, all devices should be the same from a hardware standpoint. Software is where most of the differences will be, but most of the stuff should be the same as well, with only a handful of carrier specific apps being different.

If it is a rep I wouldn't read too much Ito what they say. Without NFC that means no sbeam which seems unlikely

Samsung Music Hub is part of the features of Samsung Galaxy Note II (Verizon) Check out Samsung support site for Verizon version. The site doesn't mention NFC, but Samsung's support page for T-Mobile's Note 2 doesn't show NFC either even when that device has NFC. The NFC is part of Samsung Music Hub so you can "beam" music. So I take that Samsung Galaxy Note II (Verizon) as having NFC. And yes, the support site does confirm the S Beam.

While it won't stop me from purchasing the phone, I have used NFC on my GNex like crazy. I love Gwallet and being to bump stuff over to my Nexus 7 and back. So for me, it matters a little bit
NFC is there on Verizon version. And there is a hack that gets Google Wallet installed into Galaxy Note 2 and running.
The main question is "When can our community find a way for us to get around the bootloader locked?", so we can root these babies.

Hey guys! Soon I'll be buying a G2 outright. I'm on Telus in Canada and I'm just wondering if it really matters what variant I buy. I see a few different models available to buy unlocked and just wanna be sure there's no big difference for me which one I buy.
I suppose if they'll all work just fine, then I should go with the best dev supported model....if there is one.
Thanks for any input.

All the phones in Canada are the D803 version but I got mine through Wind Mobile which is the D801 and came factory unlocked.
Software versions between the 2 are different as well but I'm not sure what is different.
I'm not sure if there are any major differences between the Canadian models but things I saw through xda are that my D801 from Wind is missing the 3rd mic located by the flash. I haven't tried it yet, but I read that this affects the audio zoom function by rendering it barely recognizable and/or useless.
Also, not sure if you would care (but matters to me) is that I am unable to set my D801 LG G2 camera to mute without rooting and flashing another rom.
Thanks! So 803 may be best then. I see just about all the variants available. So maybe I'll focus on the 803.
I'm really hoping signal strength is better than my S2. I gotta go outside where I live to talk or text. Lol

Is there a way to network unlock the phone right now? I was going to switch back to ATT today but I might use my Jump on an S5 before I go.
I believe cellunlocker.net should have that unlock soon hopefully...

As of today we are no joy.
T Mobile makes you wait 40 days before they will release the unlock code. And it's $760 total.
I too want this answer -- I paid $660 plus tax ($720) to get mine yesterday.
I bought from TMo because I had read that they aren't locked and the sales person told me the same -- well, it seems that it is. Called Tech Support and they said they can't help me because I don't have a TMo #.
I'll go back to the store today -- unless there's another option.

Has anyone tried to use Samsung Secret codes to unock it? I am not sure if this works for the S5 or not, but there are steps you can use on the S4 that allows you to unlock the phone using codes - See this thread for steps - (careful - I am not positive this works - I don't know what the downside might be if you screw up - but it might be an option - or possibly something similar? )http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2283068

No, I checked a video from samjpullen on youtube, he is fairly known youtuber and he recommended the site. Here is his video:

Specifying which provider you would be using it on would make it easier to give you a more accurate answer. It should work just fine but for some reason, people seem to be having issues on carriers such as T-Mobile USA.

Feel in love with Development from the start, currently on Moto G7 aka River Android Dev Team and just left the Google Pixel 4 4XL Dev Group. Bunch of immature lil kids.... Anyway, is there no possibility of Unlocking the BootLoader in the V60? no way to install or flash Magisk for ROOT? No TWRP? I cant even imagine....[emoji23]

Be careful! The carrier-locked LG phones only show carrier-specific radio bands in their spec sheets. This seems improbable in a modern phone but I'm not taking any chances. If the specs are right, a T-Mobile phone would work great at home but be dead while traveling.
