App similar to tasker? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a smart bulb off brand which doesn't support tasker nor does an activity allow for it to do what I want.
Is there an app similar to tasker that allows for me to trace what I want to do. For example I can click a custom option and it allows me to literally go into any app and click on something and make that the action for the tasker like app.

[Q] Freeze Toggle Widget

Are there any widgets that can be used to freeze/unfreeze apps directly? Sure I know about using Titanium backup, but that is way too many clicks if I want to unfreeze Maps.
I was thinking I would like a widget that has the application icon on the left and a toggle status (which you can toggle by pressing it) to the right of the app icon (similar to data toggles, etc). So to unfreeze the app, just press the toggle button, then you can click directly on the app icon to launch it.
When you are done with the app, just toggle it back to frozen state. Maybe the icon would be greyed out or something when in a frozen state, or if the app if frozen and you click on the app icon, it would automatically unfreeze, then launch.
Might be obvious, but you would have the ability to add as apps to the widget (or multiple instances of the widget) and maybe have an option when first installing the widget to add all currently frozen apps to the widget).
If no one had created such an app, and no one is interested in creating a widget, maybe I will try to create it.
Any comments would be welcome.

The filter is then just a Titanium Label.
So first you create a label e.g. "FreezeApps" and add your app which you want to freeze to this label.
Then you create the Titanium Backup Action Widget and set as Action "Freeze all user & system apps (USE FILTER & EXTREME CAUTION)"
As "Filter by" you set the just created label.
But If you set "No filtering" and let the widget run, I guess, then you will kill your phone because then all apps and especially all SYSTEM APPS will get freezed until the widget will crash because one of the main system apps got freezed and nothing more will go. Just a guess, but I won't try it
But I am searching something like a script to let run maybe throgh Apps2SD or something.
Anybody knows something like it?
EDIT: but momento, I just discovered that Titanium Backup now has an Action "Freeze/Defrost/Launch an app" - this is exactly what I was looking about. It can even provide a password to protect unfreeze (against some no-tech-users at least).
So problem solved.

NFC & Volumes

Since there's no way to split notification and ringer volume, does anyone know if there is there any way to create a task that will change the notification tone within individual applications? For example, at night I want all tones to be silent except for the ringer. It's a pain to have to manually change the tone to silent in GMail, GVoice, etc every night.. Any way to automate that with NFC tags?
Thanks
idk about NFC but if you set them all to default, you can change them with the default instead.

I set alerts to different tones so I can differentiate between them without looking at the phone. I suppose that will be useful if there is no other choice though.
Yes, definitely. One of the NFC apps I use is NFC SmartQ - it's free. One of the settings is to change the notification tone. You can create a "switch" tag so that when you tap it at night it changes it to one thing and when you tap it in the morning it changes it back to your daytime tone.
You can also accomplish this with Tasker and NFC Tags if you are familiar with Tasker, but it's not free if you don't already have it.

I'm using an app called Power Toggles that allows the split - not sure if that's what you're looking for.

I found an application that does what I was looking for. It's called Ringleader. Allows me to create Tasker tasks and import them into the NFC application.

If you don't want to use NFC tags, just get AudioManager...you can create profiles and just toggle through them through desktop shortcuts. Works just as well if you don't wanna mess with NFC. Now if only the lowest setting on the DNA was significantly quieter, we'd be in business.

[Q] disable notifications for all apps at once

Can you disable app notifications for all apps at once? I can't stand going into apps then tap on each app then tap disable notifications for each and every app. There's gotta be a better easier way to do this.
Android 4.x

Not without a custom rom and then you can only disable all notifications and that means emails, text everything. Other then that no. You have to shut each one off.
Thanks.
I found on my galaxy tab s 10.5 it has this ability. It's for everything. Do not disturb. This is in android 5 so I'm looking forward to it. I saw an app in the app store that sounds neat with profiles.
I'd like to try a rom or just go root for my galaxy tab s 10.5 but don't want to mess things up.

Which apps to whitelist for aggressive doze?

Hey guys. I used to use aggressive doze, but it seemed like I was having a problem getting alarm/timer notifications. To make sure I don't miss important notifications are there other services I need to be sure to whitelist besides the clock app, phone app, etc.?

Normally you don't have to whitelist anything except those apps from which you need notifications. Google Play Services which is required for notifications, is already whitelisted.
Apps which are made compatible to MM's Doze function need not specifically be whitelisted. So even the phone app and clock app need not be whitelisted if they are Google's. Only third party apps which have not been made compatible (from which you need notifications) need to be whitelisted.
I've noticed that if you navigate with the screen off, whatever app you are using to navigate will get Dozed until you wake the device, so I'd whitelist whatever navigation app you use if you navigate with your screen off. Otherwise, as tnsmani said, I haven't found a good reason to whitelist any other apps.

Yes, the whitelist option isn't working properly. It doesn't matter which 3rd party app you are trying to be in a whitelist, it won't show any notification until you turn your screen ON.
