I can't load in fastboot mode - Xperia Z5 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I would like to root my Z5C, but I can't load the phone in fastboot mode.
I tried the following :
adb reboot bootloader (with my phone one, with usb debug)
the phone shut down completely, but nothing is displayed on the screen
power up + volume up (from my phone shutdowned)
there are three vibrations, and sometimes the logo Xperia appears for a few second, but then the screen show the charging icon
power down + plug usb (from my phone shutdowned)
nothing appends
each time, I tried the following command to check if the phone was indeed in fastboot mode :
fastboot devices
but I get nothing (empty list).
Could you help me please?
thanks in advance.

As far as I know, only the led will light up. The display stays black. Have you looked in the device manager if your device is recognized there. Maybe as an unknown device etc?

then I probably don't have the correct driver. I installed this one
developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/drivers/xperia-z5-compact-driver
Do you know where I can find the correct driver?
In device manager, I see a new item when I plug my phone :
USB mass storage device
I tried to update the driver with the one mentioned before, but it says that it is already up to date.

You've got some commands wrong. Volume up plus power is hard reset. You get 3 vibrations then phone is off.
To get into fastboot mode or flash mode you do not use power button and phone needs to be off. Simply hold volume up and plug in USB for fastboot mode, or hold volume down plus plug in USB for flash mode. Blue LED for fastboot and green LED for flash mode.
This is the best option for install and drivers: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48915118

I became a lot more understandable, thanks you.
I tried to install android driver from the topic you suggested (I know I should post in this topic, but I have not enough privileges to do so), but I have the following issue :
after the installation of the drivers, I followed the howto_driver.zip (the device is not recognized), and in step 5, I don't see the "android device" driver.
As suggested by

Hi ,
The Best Thing To Install KB2917929 Is To Remove The KB2919355 Update
To remove the update, follow these methods:
Press Windows Key + X.
Click on Programs and Features.
Click on View installed updates on the left hand side.
Find the update KB2919355, right click on it and Uninstall.
After That Re Install The KB2917929 Update And It Will Be Installed

Click to collapse
But when I tried to uninstal KB2919355 I got this error :
An error has occurred. Not all of the updates were successfully uninstalledI gave up and tried to install the usb driver from a folder. I downloaded the following driver : developer.android.com/studio/run/win-usb.html
but when I tried to update the driver, I get a message error saying
windows could not find driver software for your device.I run out of option (I might try this with linux, but I have no machine running under linux right now).

try forcing install of the driver by selecting the unknow device/detected phone and update/install driver by "find software driver in pc" then "choose manually driver from a driver list" then "driver disk" button on the right, "explore" and go the folder and select the downloaded driver. Be sure to install the correct driver described in the guides.

I get the following after selecting the "driver disk" :

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I suppose that by explore you mean Have disk.
I tried to select the usb driver directory, and I get the following error :
The folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver, make sure it is designed to work with Windows for x64-based systemThe folder I selected is the unzip of the driver from developer.android.com/studio/run/win-usb.html

My Xperia X10 stock at SE Logo and nothing can detect it ! Please Help

Hi everyone
i have a very rare problem with my x10 which is stocked at Sony Ericsson logo.
the problem is caused by flashing FeraLab Rom without flashing the FeraKernel before that. I didnt knew kernel is a most and should be installed first and that started to fuc my phone..
after that i tried everything in the net, installed everything that was related to xperia x10 drivers to get it detected by the PC but it just doesnt work and im still having the damn problem.
i tried using sony companion, sony update service ( which i guess doesnt support sony ericsson phones anymore ) to repair and anything els. but they're not helping me either.
I just need some help here to get my xperia x10 get detected by the windows 7 and flashtools/sony companion to repair it and reflash the roms.
right now when i connect it to pc it just says Unknown Device detected and by trying to updating driver with sdk tool and everything els, it still has problems. another message i get during this process is USB Device Not Recognized.
if any expert here have solutions for me, please give it to me, im stuck on this for about 1 week and you may know what that make me feel..
ok, first you must install SEMC flash drivers for X10, this are drivers that I used on my Win7 and Win8.1

can you tell me what should i exactly do with those files? i dont know how they work.
thanks for helpin!
you need to connect your device in flash mode in order to install this drivers. To do this, first turn off your X10 and unplug it from your PC. Then press and hold back button and connect the phone to PC USB port. You should see black screen and green LED on, and the PC should find a new device called "SEMC HSUSB Device". Now install on this new founded device drivers from above.

try to disable digital signature requirement using this method:
Method 1.
Go to Start Menu and type "cmd.exe" in the Search Bar and press <Enter>. (Remember you must be logged on as Administrator)
OR you can go to "All Programs", then "Accessories", right-click on "Command Prompt" and choose "Run as administrator".
1. Now type the following and press <Enter> after each line:
bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING ON
2. Restart your computer
3. This will disable your Windows 7 driver signing.
4. Install the driver for your device (X10i)
If this did NOT work for you, here is another way to disable Windows 7 driver signing.
Method 2.
1. During boot-up, continuously press <F8> to get to Advanced Boot Options. Note: On some systems, you need to first press <F2> to go into Boot Menu, then press <F8> to reach Advanced Boot Options.
2. When the menu appears, use the DOWN arrow key to scroll to “Disable Driver Signature Enforcement.”
3. Press <Enter>.
4. Continue the boot process.
5. After your computer has completed the boot process, try to install the driver for your device.
Hope this helps..

Xperia Z2 - USB Drivers on Windows 10

USB Drivers on Windows 10
Greetings!
I have been playing around with my Xperia Z2 for a couple of days now, and I cannot seem to get the last remaining drivers installed, that is required for me to unlock boot loader.
I have tried the ways described on Androids "unlockbootloader" website, without succes.
Then I started googling around, and found a driver tool in another thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2635830) and when I run the program, and select the "Fastboot Drivers", it fails the installation.

I used the drivers from Flashtool. But you have to go through the steps on that page to the letter. They apply exactly the same on Windows 10 as on Windows 8.
Before, I would just get that they failed. After following procedure, when I used the Flashtool driver install, it then asks "do you want to install this unsigned driver", just as it's lined out on that page.
In Windows 10, you have to disable driver signature verification on boot.
To do so: Start>Settings>Update and security>restore>Advanced boot (or something similar):
From there, choose the Troubleshoot option>Then head into Advanced options>Then Startup Settings. Since we are modifying boot time configuration settings, you will need to restart your Computer one last time. Finally, you will be given a list of startup settings that you can change. The one we are looking for is “Disable driver signature enforcement”. To choose the setting, you will need to press the F7 key.

Help! Bricked phone! No bootloop, no MIUI logo or fastboot

After restoring a TWRP backup, my phone did not boot. Whenever I connect it to a computer the notification light blinks red and Windows 64Bits does not list it the device manager. I have tried both EDL methods, pressing vol + and - and connecting to USB or Testpoint method. I don't see the MIUI logo and I cannot even enter fastboot mode. The only method that gives a "sign" is the testpoint but it lists my phone as: Unknown USB device (Device descriptor request failed)
Any ideas???
Thank you!
I think you have problem with windows, I recommended you to install windows 10 pro x64 and you have no problem with drivers. Have you disabled driver signature verification ? But you try this bellow.
First have you unlocked bootloader ? If bootloader unlocked you can boot phone into fastboot & flash with fastboot. Shutdown phone by hold power button for 10 seconds and fast hold volume down then push usb cable into phone. If first method not working, try reconnect battery and usb cable then hold volume down and connect usb to phone. On phone appear you have entered in fastboot mode. Use fastboot rom to flash via fastboot. Other method is try to disconnect battery and usb cable and connect again, try hold volume up and down and connect usb, also try test point method . If not working it's problem with windows and drivers, what version of windows are you using ? Take care with test point pin's to not damage.

Thank you for replying. I have windows 10 x64 installed. I have disabled driver signature verification. The bootloader was unlocked via official manner. I cannot boot into fastboot. The phone is just dead. No response at all. I have successfully done the test point before but my phone was showing the MIU logo and entering fastboot. Now, the phone is just dead. The only sign of life it gives is when I connect it to the computer or charger. The light blinks red.
I try cm 13 and I restore MIUI via twrp then i got this problem.
i try this method " en.miui.com/thread-245347-1-1 " and i can flash MIUI rom via miflash but when press power button the phone wont turn on or vibrate. please help.
sorry for my english.
Test point must work, try to uninstall drivers from windows. First disconnect usb from phone, disconnect battery and usb cable and recoonect.

Xperia z3c stuck on bootscreen

Heyo
Following situation:
I tried to root and flash my old Sony Xperia Z3 compact which I have been using as an mp3 player. I successfully did so (I think), however when I wiped my data to flash to linage os, it gave me error 7. I assumed it was because my TWRP version was way out of date so I updated that, and hit "reboot into recovery" to activate the new twrp version.
Unfortunately the phone didn't boot into recovery and just wound up stuck at the sony screen without anything else since no OS is installed.
I can't boot into recovery manually either, it just boots into the sony logo and gets stuck there.
I do have a backup in twrp but I can't install that since I can't get into recovery, and I can't manually access the storage since usb debugging is not active while on the sony startup screen.
Is there anything I can do or is my z3c rip?
I can connect the phone in fastboot and flashmode and flashtool does recognize it, however I can't really seem to do anything while in flashmode and fastboot mode doesn't work since flashtool tells me I don't have the right drivers for the device, however when I try to install the driveres it hands out an error message

If your using Windows 10 you'll probably need a Windows 7 virtual machine if you don't have a physical PC with Windows 7 already installed. That or you'll need to turn on test mode for Windows
But if I may ask what fhe error(s) output whwn trying to install said drivers?

I've attatched 4 screenshots in my OP, thats all I see, it doesn't actually state what the error is, just that it didn't finish.
Will it go through with win7? Actually that aside, is there a way to force a new os onto the phone via the flashtool to begin with?
Since your Windows computer needs to recognize the Xperia z3 based on Qualcomm chipset once connected, the PC should have installed proper USB drivers. which in no case depends on Windows version or Windows edition. You have to obtain the USB drivers and also the ADB / Fastboot drivers from OEM's / Carrier's website. It's never a good idea to install the ADB / Fastboot drivers elsewhere offered on WEB.
And once installed, restart the PC.
If successful then use

My carrier doesn't offer any drivers whatsoever.
But all of that aside, even if I do get fastboot running, is there even a way to force a new OS onto the phone via some tool?

Question fastboot command not working | waiting for any device

Hi all,
first of all: yes, I've used the search function but I couldn't find a solution.
I have a Nord 2 5G device and want to install Evolution X Custom ROM.
I followed the instructions in this forum (and other websites) and managed to downgrade to OOS 11 in order to get into fastboot. The adb command to boot into fastboot mode also worked and my device is saying
fastboot_unlock_verify ok
The device is in fastboot mode which is only for debug Android devices. If you want to exit fastboot mode, please long press volume up and power buttons simultaneously.

So obviously I need additional drivers. I have downloaded the USB drivers from this website: https://developer.android.com/studio/run/win-usb, chose install from hard drive and pointed to the directory I have unzipped the driver set but Windows can't install them. I have also downloaded the OnePlus driver set from https://oneplusdriver.com/download-oneplus-driver and installed them.
Still, it doesn't work.
I am at the end of my rope now. What did I do wrong?

What's the VID/PID?
Is that in the stock INF file in android_winusb.inf?
If you want, you can just use Zadig drivers. I can give you "fastbogus.exe".
https://zadig.akeo.ie/
Select "WinUSB".

Yes, the thing is, I've installed the drivers in the wrong way. I'll try to give a step-by-step guide:
Go to Device Manager and find the Device (will have the yellow triangle. Right-click on it and choose upgrade driver (hope that's what's shown in the english version of Win 11). You'll see this:
Click the second option. You'll see this:
Here, choose the second option at the bottom. That's where I did it wrong. I selected the drivers in the dropdown menu and that doesn't work.
Click there...
and click there to select the diver *.inf file in the usb_driver folder.
That should work. It's important that you use the official Google Drivers (at least it was important here).
Hope that works.

Hi,
I managed to install the ADB google drivers so I can now at least see Fastboot devices response properly but I do not know how to unlock the bootloader as the command "fastboot oem unlock" is not recognized and there is still no menu for the bootloader unlock (only the message on the black screen)
If anyone could help I would be be very grateful.
Thank you.
Best Regards
Lad
