I recently got my hands on a VZW S4. From preliminary research, it looked like I would have no problem unlocking my bootloader and installing Cyanogenmod. However, now that I've looked around a bit more, I see the unlock method was for Android 4.2.2 and is no longer applicable. I also saw that custom ROMs are available to flash, but that they're all based on TouchWiz. I read this is because custom kernels cannot be flashed, but then I saw the thread on custom kernel modules.
It's all pretty confusing to me. I have the VZW Note 4 as my main phone, and have been keeping up with roots and bootloader unlocks (I have CM13 on there and I love it), but flashing with that seems pretty simple and straightforward to do compared to this S4 stuff.
I tried to do my research, but I'm still not sure what the answer is. Can I flash CM13 to this, or do I need to stick to TW? If I can't get it, are there any 6.0.1-based TW ROMs for the S4, or is that also not possible?
Are people even still working on the S4 (maybe to find a bootloader unlock for the 5.0.1 firmware)?
Don't do it
If your device is already on OF1 then you cannot flash anything with a non-stock kernel. That means CM. Only devices with MDK bootloader have that luxury. TO double check boot into recovery with vol up + home + power, release for just a moment when you see first splash screen then hold until it finishes. You will see your bootloader listed at the top. Anything other than MDK and you are out of luck.
Always research the lock status of the bootloader of any device you are interested in otherwise no CM for you.

Thanks to everyone for replying and OP too. This is what throws me off:
the link you posted says if your bootloader is locked forget everything.....but then further down the page it says if you have SuperSU & Busybox there are options like installing Albe95 and Stang5Litre.
I always put it out of my head and every couple of weeks i start feeling determined to get a straight answer and then give up etc etc

Ahh. It is good that you are cautious. I did not state forget everything. Just custom recovery, marshmallow, and CM.
It is an assumption, that I made as well, that once rooted the sky is the limit. Unfortunately for us that is not the truth. Another lesson in "don't believe everything on the Internet".
Due to some outstanding work by the developers that are in our situation, there are options. If you have the chops and are confident in your Odin skills, we can get you on any of the ROMs listed. Always follow the OF1 instructions. Let me know if you need help. BTW, I'm not responsible.... standard disclaimer....blah, blah, blah!

We did . My sister has a basic phone and we're thinking of moving to T-Mobile (save ~$3000 over two yrs). Since the basic phone obviously can't transfer, she'll need to move to a smartphone. The S4 is an old phone I wanted to get working, since new phones are expensive.
Do your research

This is why we are telling you "research". You have to acquire a lot of data and sort it out. As I hinted earlier, you MAY be able to use some ROMs if they use the stock kernel. Those two use stock kernels so they may work. If you don't know what a kernel is then you have some pre-research to do. Then you need to figure out how to get root on your kernel. OF1 requires you to use Odin to flash an OC1 kernel before you can use KingRoot after which you have to use Super Sume to replace KingRoot with SuperSu because Flashfire won't work with KingRoot. I had the additional joy of having to figure out how to use VirtualBox to set up a Win7 virtual machine on my MacBook Pro to use Odin as the JOdin version just didn't work. Had enough yet? If the work involved is starting to pile up then decide what you want to do about it, how badly do you want a custom ROM on your SCH-I545 OF1 device?
For me, a very unfortunate series of events (from a lack of sufficient research) led me to the OF1 bootloader and now I am mostly screwed. I cannot get stang flashed correctly, all it does is reset everything to stock. I am beyond tired of messing with it so I am resigning to just having root until I buy another non-bootlocked phone. HTC M9, Moto X Style, LG G3 for AT&T/Cricket or T-Mobile/MetroPCS are good examples. I highly suggest you search through CM's list of supported devices as a pretty sure thing.
CM Device List Selector
Remember to check for nightlies as several devices only show nightly CM13. And then research even that to see if the nightly is stable enough to use as daily driver. I even found a snapshot version to have a few bugs once so nothing is guaranteed. It can be a perilous journey so decide if it is worth it to you but a little research goes a long way.

T-Mobile has almost caught up. They've seriously expanded.
Consider Cricket or MetroPCS
Cricket is AT&T (I believe best overall coverage but will vary locally) and MetroPCS is T-Mobile. It is true T-Mobile agressively expanded in 2015 on LTE band 12 and is a real contender now depending on where you are. I recently got in on a group plan at Cricket and I pay $24/mo for 2.5GB which is plenty for me. That is less than half of what I was paying month to month at VZW and 1/4 of what I was paying VZW before my contract was up. MetroPCS has a really good 2 line x 3GB deal a couple months ago for $60 so shop around.
HTC M9's can be found on amazon new for as low as $300 if you watch it but that's a bit above my budget at the moment, LG G3's can be had new for low $200's (I didn't like the call quality or this is what I would have right now but was so easy to root and CM) and brand new custom order Moto X Pure (Moto X Style is EMEA version, different LTE bands) right now with 32GB for $350 and is the best deal going if you can deal with a 5.7" screen. I can't hack the 5.7" screen so I have to pass on that.
Me, I'm saving my Cricket savings to put toward something next year, I am eyeing the HTC 10 (when it is not $700) or maybe the Galaxy S7 G930F (International edition - again once it is sub $500) depending on what XDA devs can do with it (forget US version they will all be locked up tight). Study up on LTE bands.
http://www.gsmarena.com/
LTE frequency band allocation and descriptions
And choose wisely. Generally AT&T uses LTE bands 2,4,5,17,29,30 with emphasis on 17. 29 and 30 are supplemental and may or may not be in your area and is impossible to find out. T-Mobile uses 2,4,12 with emphasis on 12. VZW uses 4,13 with emphasis on 13. Sprint is hopeless don't even consider it. LTE 4 is almost everywhere and is the only band you cannot live without.
The SCH-I545 only shares LTE band 4 with AT&T and T-Mobile network but AT&T is generally good enough and their 3G (HSPA+) network is the best which is almost as good as VZW LTE which was never very impressive where I am. For me I actually am getting a little bit of speed increase with Cricket in my daily routes.
Ok, that's all I have time for hope this helps. Put in the time and your education will be with you always and will serve you well.

Thank you @Zacharee1 for the post. This is not a reply, just a simple rant.
It's good to vent a little. When I first came to XDA looking for help with my VZW S4 I got little to none. In fact there was an overall petulant and fractious feeling. Over time I realized why. Everybody took some bumps and bruises. We came in with high hopes, only to have them shattered. Through trial and error, and a few frantic nights ( "Odinned" back to stock 17 times), I have learned a lot. The attitude of "if you don't know what a blah, blah is then don't mess with it" is fallacious as most people have the ability to learn. Patience is the issue. If an individual does not have the patience to sit and read, sometimes all night, that is when they get in trouble.
I feel that the VZW S4 forum is breeding ground for savvy and informed user's who will take what they've learned and transition to their next device confidently. I know I did.
Edit: Maybe you should change the title to "Rant Thread"

I wish I could hack the webcams of all the folks who said we don't have competent developers for the E970 when they figure out what ignorant f*cknuggets they are. Like my nerdy ass is going to buy a phone that isn't going to get ridiculously awesome AOSP within a reasonable amount of time, ha ha ha ha!
Man, I wonder how all those dudes who ditched their OGs feel. BTW this runs GREAT. The screens in OP are mine.
Much thanks to all of the developers of the E970 for sharing their talent and work! I try not to post much - still a noob with nothing to add toward development so don't want to take up space - but with all of the recent work added, simply wanted to say thank you.
I still have never flashed a ROM (ever); it's not that the ICS development was not interesting, I simply wanted to spend additional time educating myself first. With AOSP, AOKP, and now CM, time for me to step-up my reading!! I'm rooted, unlocked, have my nandroid, and almost ready to go - though do need the GPS working as I can't live without it.
BTW, great, in-context use of the word f*cknuggets, Deathmonkey!

The best way to educate yourself about these things is to flash and play with them. Seriously, make sure you have a good backup, and then flash to your heart's content. Flashing a ROM and then flashing back to your good recovery each take a few minutes a piece. It's easy.
Sweetttt!! :victory: , will themes from playstore work with this rom?
Downloading now and excited to flash. Had problems with Codefire SR15, the power button caused a system crash. Hopefully that won't happen on this!

Thanks, Digil! Though I have not done it, I agree nonetheless. I knew I'd want to take advantage of all this phone (and developers) have to offer, so rooted and unlocked when I got it in December (thanks to Carret's instructions!) without issue. I have TWRP installed and did my first nandroid (though will do another to make sure I did it right, as mine was a bit large @ 3GB). Confident I can flash a rom, though not certain I did the nandroid right and want to make sure. I'm in sales and travel out of town quite a bit, so really need GPS working, so have simply been enjoying seeing the work, reading the comments, and trying to get better versed (after the wife and kids go to bed). Unlike many, I still do 1000-1500 minutes of calls a month, so needed to see the volume working as well.
I seem to be a pretty old fart by xda standards - 44, though still a heavy metal punk at heart (hair metal guitarist and singer back in the 80's). Though I love technology, I'm not as up to speed as most on these forums, so am taking it slower than I probably need.
yes finally we can get some good cm action going

lennyquai, I definitely feel you about wanting to take it slow, and do your research first. In fact, I think XDA (and hell, probably the world in general) would be much better off if everyone took that approach. We seem to have some awesome devs here, so I know when you eventually do decide to start flashing some ROMs you won't be disappointed. Good luck! See you around.
Btw, thanks to Shelnutt for putting this up, and all your work. Can't wait to try it out after work tonight!

I got you by almost decade... But the kids in here are pretty tolerant of old farts.
I'll caution you that once you start flashing roms you'll get addicted and flash everything that comes out. Titanium Back Up Pro is more than worth the cost. You can not only back up then restore apps (incl data), but once your downloaded apps are restored, you can restore the data for the launcher, which automatically setups up your home screens (be sure to do a full back up of apps, before you start flashing).

Starting with 4.1 I believe, Google made it so you have to go to "About Device" under settings, then tap the "Build number" location seven times. A toast notification will show up when you start tapping telling you how many more taps you have to go. Developer settings will then show up in the "Settings" menu. Why they hid it like an easter egg is beyond me.

Thank you. That's a very interesting set up.
This is the latest firmware I coudl find on any site. It was Asian so I converted it to work with the P600UE (US Based P600's and other variants).
Features:
Made Compatible with US devices (may work on other regions).
Removed Knox and proloaded Kisok mode
Pre-rooted with SuperSU
Odex or De-odex'ed
Zip Aligned
Set Google as home page
Busybox
init.d Support
Removed Chinese Keyboard.
No other changes or modifications.
Once again, this is an untouched stock ROM other than what is listed. There are no tweaks or enhancements.
It took me 2 days to figure out how to get around the regional coding on the new Samsung devices so please hit Thanks if you download.
Downloads:
Odex: Stock-Root-Odex-P600ZTUBML1.zip - 1.22 GB
De-Odex: Stock-Root-De-Odex-P600ZTUBML1.zip - 1.22 GB

Well, I just want to make sure everything works. It was a big learning experieence about the regional coding files and the SEA policies which I finally figured out.
So if you can test apps in the play store, over all functionality type thing. Looking for things like "Not supported in your region" errors although I doubt it (USA Regions only, other regions I cannot support).
IM sure its good as I ran with it for two days and liked it.

Sadly that is a typical issue with play services.
They try to push that at the same time the push the apps and it can cause a mess.
Google needs to get it together... But then again, I dont think they made Android for the Crack Flashing crew.
When I was playing with this I think it felt a little smoother than the MK1 base.
Does anyone have any input on that?
And what do you think of the Autobrightness control?
Why did you convert a stock Asian rom to be compatible with US/EU version of P600?
Haven't they the same hardware or product code (SM-P600)?
I ask you this since I ordered a note 2014 from Singapore and I would flash an European stock rom with my country's csc.
Do you think it's not possible?

One more thing to add:
It seems there is a significant lag for the screen to turn on after the tablet was off for more than a few minutes.
Also tested the magnetic cover on both Poetic cases I own. The tablet display turns on and off when cover is opened and closed.

For whatever reasons Samsung seems to have locked them like they did with the phones and sims. I beleive, but cannot prove for fact, that they are using the same "technology" from the Note 3. You can read more about it here: Samsung’s Regional SIM-Lock: The Stupidest Thing Ever?
Now I dont know for fact, so take it with a grain of salt, but look at the first digit of the firmware and that is the region. Take look here on THIS PAGE for the region and the firmware versions. You will see a pattern.
It seems, Arabian devices all start with X, European based devices start with U, US based devices start with U as well. All Asian devices start with Z. But what throws me off is not all countries seem to be in the region you would expect. So I really am not sure. I just now that some people cant use my ROM very well and others can.
I know that i could not get the ZT base to work until I swapped out portions of the RAM disk and some really strange files in the /system partition which I beleive are tied to the ram disk files which then seem to tie to the region. THIS IS ALL SPECULATION on my behalf. I wont know unless I have a device from Asia to test or someone that knows more about Samsung product codes can elaborate.
Now, I cant honestly tell you that they wont be able to cross but I can tell you I had to tear out some files from the UE based ROM (United States) and replace those files in the ZT based ROM (Tiawan).
Like I said, take it with a grain of salt.
When you get your device send me a PM so I can have you look at things and quantify my thoughts. All my theory are based on my physical US Based Device and the troubles I had getting the Asian based ROM to flash.

Although I cannot read your hand writing I did seem like a positive tone? lol
The lag on wake is by design. I know, strange... But thats how any Exnyos process based device is.
Refernce any article in this quick Google Search and you will see it covers almost every Exnyos device Samsung makes. Not just the Note 10.1.
We will need to enlist a real good kernel developer to remove that lag. You can read more about it in my CleanROM thread as we were just discussing it there...
But in a nut shell, the tablet goes into deep sleep and it has to be woken up. This is done to conserve battery.
I also tested the wake lag against stock MK1 base and its actually improved. At least form my testing anyways. Take it with a grain of salt as I am an old man and cant count very well
Hey this is exactly what i was looking for.
My brother and I bought our dad this tablet from the US and the first thing I did was root it as usual with all the other android devices in our house haha.. but as usual after rooting and installing a custom recovery you cannot do OTA's.
I would like to know will you be keeping this stock and maintaining this as samsung pushes updates. the first thing my dad did, was check if he could do auto updates and it said no tablet is modified. So I told him I would have to do it manually.
Many thanks in advance.
Also is this ML1 the latest release by Samsung?

The feedback of your ML1 stock ROM was positive. All apps I used simply worked. There was nothing unusual about any of the apps, including no force closes.
Touchwiz launcher also seemed quicker when scrolling through the home pages and application pages. I plan to do a Titanium backup and make this my daily ROM for a few days (or longer).
As for the lag when turning on the screen, I was only making an observation. It was neither a positive or negative comment about the ROM. I prefer the tablet to go into deep sleep mode as fast as possible to conserve battery life. So an extra half second or so for the display screen to turn on is an easy tradeoff.

I will more than likely be doing stock roots for any update I can for the duration of tablet owner ship.
As the very first line of the opening post stated; this is the latest build I can find anywhere on the internet.
If anyone ever finds anything newer than what I have they normally will post in one of my threads or will send me a PM. Plus I scour certain firmware sites daily.

Nah, I see some changes in the system dealing specificallyh with WiFi and Bluetooth but I have not had an issue with WiFi (nor do I 100% understand teh changes between MK1 and ML1).
However, the bootlaoder may have also attributed to this. I made this rom so it would run with the MK1 US Bootloader.
I would Odin MK1 then you should be able to flash this. But as far as WiFi drops for me personally, nah. Seems good.
Anyone else see any WiFi issues?

gogolie'sROM Port: ECHOE The FINAL BEAN.
INSTALLER USES AROMA TW-4.3-MK2/AnyCarrier-SS-KNOXfree-CLEAN-FAST-THEMED-OFFICIALPORTROM- TESTED WITH SAFESTRAP MK2 AKA FLASHES NO KERNELS! I LEAVE THAT UP TO YOU FLASH YOUR FAVORITE KERNEL! (WORKS WITH ANY LOCKED OR UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER CAPABLE OF 4.3 OR MK BASE
I'm sure your all starving for KK but I figured why not... This is the last 4.3 TW Echoe that friedrich420 will be doing so enjoy!
If you dont know ECHOE get familiar (read the 1400 page thread.). This version features a cool Floyd theme. Install it to your stock slot in Safestrap or to any slot you like. AT&T and other carriers may need to flash your MK2 modules or add in TMO APN / AT&T APN settings to get this beast working 100%.
Known issues/Not Working (only for select users):
No issues exist if phone is setup properly. however...
If it doesnt work for you I'm sorry your best bet if your on VZW is SS with something else installed stock slot would be mk2/mj7 stock odin, reroot, ss,(I go to MK2 as I have best speeds and benchmarks with it) n I know it will work flawlessly if rooted and setup as described. I've already tested this release on 2 TMobile MDL and MK2 and about 20 people tested it so know it works great. If you have any issues resort to the threads this one and the international version to see if your issue has been solved. I don't do this for a living but a donation would be nice if you think I do.

Lil about me: I'm a now broke, technically I'm disabled (w/ 4 crushed discs in spine the gov says I'm too young to get disability and shouldn't admit that MMJ medicine works for me they=heartless pricks)I'm a full time single parent of a 1 yr old so I don't get a lot of time for my passions anymore. ex award winning programmer (lost the love for it, be sure to copyright anything you intellectually own especially when it comes to working with G or MS. they'll steal your everything claim you signed it over and hang you out to dry) now i'm just a fellow android lover with a knack for making things work when they normally won't, experimenting, coding, scripting, anything I feel like doing so if this or any of my other creations or additions to your phone helped you in any way help keep my kid in fresh diapers or put a beer in my hand please. Anything is better than nothing I have spent countless hours learning testing and everything in between to bring you cool stuff like this. Thanks!
How to Install:
1: Download the zip, uhh doi
2: Flash the .zip in Safestrap, TWRP, CWM, Philz or whatever custom recovery your using. It is compatible and tested with the 4 I just listed.
3: Smoke som, eat some cake or take a shower while you wait.
4. Follow instructions in aroma and choose your apps wisely.
Haters: This is my 1st aroma release and much easier than doing my own installs... Sorry I was forced to take a leave but I'm back now haters watch me do my thang. I don't care what you say clearly I know more about my phone than you do I do this for the people that want it not the ones that can do it themselves! Because a 2months ago when I started this venture there was 1 COMPLIANT SS ROM for VZW I BROUGHT OUT 7 MYSELF in a month before the 1 click ports could get to the bases I was porting just because I make it look easy doesnt mean I get a ton of donations or need you to hate I just like helping people why not go do something constructive?!? Oh an BTW my roms do work for every carrier if you or whoever would have tried it or downloaded the OP I don't care what you want to try and tell me that is the truth PERIOD and I have thousands of downloads no bricks to prove it bia bia.

Would you rather they rush the project and potentially brick your phone or void the warranty? The list of components they have active and working is very impressive. They're making a quality rom for you. Android is a complex system when you start messing with stuff like buildprops, integration with recoveries, etc. They're essentially building an OS. We'd get pages of complaints if nothing worked properly.

Lol. Yeah. I really hate to say this; but whenever I've taken my phone to any Verizon store, the trips don't have a clue what's going on. Seriously doubt they know how to check whether or not the warranty is void unless that screen I'd staring them in the face trying you to take it to Verizon do they can lecture you. I personally have a 0x1 flash count. Not bashing the employees, but Verizon seemingly gives zero incentive for its employees to do more than boot into recovery to do a factory data reset.

That is a horrible couple days. I know what the obsessive phase of Android can do. I emerge from my confines for nobody until either I accomplish my goal or completely I waste down to nothing since I can't eat or sleep when I get these phases. I have seriously spent like twenty collective hours trying to resurrect my dead S3, which I fried flashing the wrong firmware (fastest, most inexplicable mistake ever...although I too was a lil hungry. Maybe it's a hint that we shouldn't have access to root while altered). The best thing about the S4, in my opinion, is that is ridiculously hard to brick. You threw one in ramen and toasted the other. I feel I can flash anything on this and at worst it'll do nothing. Maybe it'll need a recovery image. Please tell me I don't need to root again using motochopper! It's hard!

Hey, I am about to upgrade and I will likely hold out for the new Motorola phone, but if it is a disappointment then the G3 is a very interesting option.
Curious what to look for as far as custom ROMs are concerned. I am addicted to running custom ROMs however I have had a Nexus phone lately so the whole unlocking/rooting/hackability has never been an issue. I see the the G3 has root, but I presume something else must be done before a custom recovery can be installed...thus no custom ROMs.
I love the G3s hardware, but I will never love OEM software. I want stock Android and I am hoping that will be possible with the Moto X+1 and/or the G3.
Thanks guys and gals
I'm pretty sure once someone can find an exploit to unlock the boot loader, we'll see a custom recovery as well as a few roms shortly after. I don't think there will be stock android until CM adds G3 support
I have faith in the devs that they'll eventually unlock this phone. It's been said in a few places that the security isn't as tough as say in the S4 for example.
That said though... This phones stock experience really isn't bad IMO. Best stock I've ever had. Being rooted and with xposed it's quite tolerable.
I'm a crack flasher though so believe me the itch is there!

Agree totally
If you want a flagship phone that will definitely run custom roms, I believe the htc one m8 is it for now. I agree with the other posters that the G3 will likely get a bootloader unlock at some point, but there are no guarantees. That said, the stock rom has a similar look and feel to the cm 11 rom I was running on my galaxy s3. While not AOSP, it doesn't annoy me the way touchwiz did and I won't have buyer's remorse if the bootloader stays locked.

This thread is pointless! Asking will there ever be custom ROMs? Of course there will be. But what you and many others fail to remember is that these phones are harder and harder to crack each time. Only reason the M8 had root and S-Off so quickly is jcase had a 3yr old vuln that wasnt patched yet. They patched it and then he had to spend more time and money cracking it again and he made a new version, which he charged for since it was such a PITA. Look how long it took the S5 to get it. Just be happy we have root.
If you are so worried about not having an unlocked bootloader, you should get rid of Verizon and get AT&T or Tmo that supports devices that are unlocked right from the manufacture. They will always have Nexus devices and other cool ones Verizon will never see since they dont allow none Verizon devices on their network.

I don't believe it is a "pointless" thread or question. GS5 doesn't have an unlocked bootloader and who knows if they ever will. They have an exploit to run essentially stripped down versions of the stock ROM but that is it. I have not intentions on switching carriers I was simply asking what the status of the G3 was as far as unlocking was concerned.
Thank you to everyone else that responded, I think the G3 is still a viable option for me. I am going to wait to see what Motorola puts out there, but if I don't like it I'll pull the trigger on the G3.
I think it is pointless because you're asking people to predict the future. Nobody can answer the question. Therefore, the question is pointless.
This thread has outlived it's usefulness.

This is as close as I could stay to stock except that it is pre-rooted. It's a big file and will take several minutes to boot (about 7 minutes with my experience). My plan is to make another ROM from this base that is debloated and has some other goodies. Feel free to post in this forum what you wish it had or didn't for future builds.

Should one upgrade to 5.0 first or would it be safe to flash on 4.x.x?

I'm pretty sure your gonna have to upgrade your bootloader for 5.0.1, to work right on your phone.
I would think upgrade firmware to BOF2 then unlock kingoroot still working as of today, i'm pretty sure you flash that zip on 4.4.4
it will bootloop.
That's what I'd figure also, just wanted to get it clarified.

I'm currently running the fw version ending in BPC1 and that is what the ROM is based on. I believe it will run on any of the 5.0.1 fw's but I don't think it would run correctly on builds prior to that.
Phase II
Hey guys, I spend a ton of time learning how to make this ROM which I'm glad that I did. However, I'm going to have to manage my time a little better going forward. So, please share your input. If anything goes wrong with the ROM, please let me know. As I work on my next ROM which will be debloated and hopefully have a lot of other tweaks and improvements, please let me know what you'd like to see. Is there a feature you've seen in another ROM that you wish we had? Once you boot a new ROM, what are the first changes you make (maybe we can preset some stuff). I really don't know what all is possible and what can be implemented but if I'm going to spend time learning anyway I'd rather spend it on stuff that matters. Please feel free to share your thoughts.

#1 thing for me is to turn off the hot spot entitlement check and remove bloat
thanks for working on this ! :good:
1st I'd make twiz an option, basically a user app that can be uninstalled or kept if preferred. Lot's of launchers malfunction with the popup notification sticking on screen, not the status bar noti, but the bubble window like Tibu displays - "all app info has been loaded". I'd also probably do something like that with all of the system apps that are "bloat" as everyone has their pref's. That way any bloat app can be installed or uninstalled if the user wishes.

A feature I have yet to find is custom S pen popup windows/air command. Add an app or command.
Maybe integrate MultiSystem into your build. That way users can try any of the note 4 roms out without the risk of so many problems both heard and unheard. That would definitely make pure it awesome.

I can't take credit for too much since I didn't really modify anything. However, it is based off the latest VZW update which is newer than the BOF base so there could have been improvements implemented there.

Debloating is easy. Making hotspot function as native Android should be doable.

Some of the bloat I'll remove completely and I can keep some of the other stuff (like Google and Samsung apps) making it removable.

As far as multisystem, I'll look into it but that may be over my head. Before this I had modded some HTC Roms but never on my own. And there seems to be no interest at all from other experienced devs to work on this device since the user base is so small (which is understandable). I posted in several forums and send a coupld PMs while trying to learn to do this and got 0 responses.

Wow, that would be nice. I've seen real devs take firmware from similar devices and make them compatible with other phones but I can pretty much guarantee I won't reach that level while I still own this phone.
Thanks for the input guys. Keep it coming. I may get some time to work on it tonight if my wife don't catch me. She's still upset about me spending the 3-day weekend on it. shhhhhhh

Lmao, I got your back. I saw nothing.
With MultiSystem, it's just an app that the rooted user can install. You most likely won't get a response as our device isn't officially supported. But the Note 4 is supported. My Edge is all stock on 4.4.4 Official Dev Edition and I have installed it just not the binaries yet. I have tried to install it on android 4.1.2 and it will not. From what I understand of MultiSystem, it's supposed to be "for all devices". I'm guessing it's pointed toward device's running KK and higher.
I have not tested yet as my phone's os is basically one of a kind, and have not had a way to really fix it other than a recovery. The official dev edition firmware will never be released says Samsung reps and so I'm super careful with what I have done and will do with the device. That being said, maybe someone here with a replaceable os would be willing to give it a shot.
If so, then a new thread for MS Note Edge Dev would be in demand.
Sorry for the Essay here. Continue on, major props brother.

Hey guys, I've not had much luck with modding the ROM much so I went ahead and added a second download link for a debloated version. I pretty much took out anything that could be added back if you wanted it. Check it out and let me know what you think. It did still take about 8 minutes to boot from the red VZW screen.
BTW - I did remove all the KNOX stuff and the app that pulls the updates as well.
