Considering T-Mobile just released 1.27.531.8 OTA, and there are many many updates that have already been released, most recently 2.17.401.1 with Android 4.2.2 which is really nice, anyone think they will release 4.2.2 update soon? I like 4.2.2, especially coming from a Nexus 4, but I cannot use it on a daily basis because I heavily rely on wifi-calling. Many of the buildings I work in have little to no reception for any carrier lte or otherwise so wifi calling is huge.
Anyone know what needs to be tweaked in order to get wifi-calling working on 4.2.2? Does T-Mobile have any phones with wifi-calling on 4.2.2 currently?

Yes mine too -- works great on 4.1.2. Recently 4.2.2 JellyBean ROMs have come out for the HTC One. Unfortunately Wifi calling is not implemented in any of these ROMs.
I believe the Samsung Galaxy S4 is the only T-Mobile phone that is on 4.2.2 and has wifi calling implemented. Probably have to grab all the necessary files off that phone to get it working on the HTC One, otherwise we are waiting on T-Mobile to release the 4.2.2 update for the HTC One.

yes. i believe the devs on the international forum are waiting for the 4.2 wifi calling apk or whatever it is so if you can get it from someone on the s4 forum and give it to a dev over there they might be able to work with it
Okay people, here's the deal. I have tried running multiple versions of multiple ROM's, everything from 4.4.2 bases up to 5.0.2 (CM11-12-nightlies, SkyDragon v20-v40.1, Renovate 5.0- r341- r349, LeeDroid, Broken, MaximusHD, etc). When I flash a ROM I download the ROM and gapps if applicable, perform a Nandroid backup, move Zip files to the phone's memory, always preform a full wipe, sometimes twice just to be sure, and follow the Aroma or TWRP installer promts, and finally, if given the option after finishing, wipe the dalvik/cache. On 99% of these ROM's everything works fine, with the exception of being able to add/edit VPN's and the ability to receive incoming calls. After flash I can receive calls for a few days 50% of the time, then nothing. Some of the ROMs, ie. CM12, won't even show a cellular connection. My cell signal is fine, it's showing 4G LTE, but calls just go straight to voicemail, UNLESS I happen to be talking on the phone when a call comes in. In that instance it allows me to transfer to the incoming call without issue. Last night I got so frustrated that I relocked the device and ran the stock AT&T 4.4.4 RUU. Of course everything is working fine now but I really hate this stock ROM. Here's my current set-up:
Unlocked, rooted with SU 2.46, TWRP recovery 2.8.50, 4.4.4 Firmware, S-on (I CAN NOT S-OFF, I'M POOR ), H-boot 3.19.0.0000, OS/Software 3.42.502.1, Radio/Baseband [email protected] Does anyone have a fix for this or know of a ROM that mimics the Lollipop OS look/feel that works with essentially a stock AT&T M8?? I think I've been as detailed as possible but the device is Gold, if that matters HELP?!?!

Well, I read your thread yesterday, but I don't really know an answer (which is why I hesitate to respond). I can only guess here.
What I can say, although I'm not a user of CM12, but I believe the hboot you have and radio should be fine with CM12.
However, I have seen some folks using Euro based ROMs having some issues (primarily on LTE it seems) and not getting voice calls, like you.
So as you somewhat guessed, AT&T's network is probably to blame (at least that is my guess) in that some feature of the Euro based ROMs (possibly build.prop?) doesn't play well with AT&T's LTE network. It wouldn't be the first time something like this has cropped up. It seems that AT&T likes to do some (frustratingly) unique things in build.prop from just about every other carrier in the world, that causes headaches on custom ROMs. So if your are hell bent on using CM12, you might try to edit build.prop at least to start, if you are comfortable doing so.

You might try a GPE ROM that supports 4.4.4 firmware, and see if the result is any better.

Yeah, and build.prop might not even fix it. I think AT&T also messes with the signal icons, which screws up some stuff as well (believe it or not).
But you can't possibly be the only one on AT&T trying to use CM12? I have to think this is a known problem.

Whats really insane to me is I was running CM12 perfectly fine on my AT&T branded M7 months ago with the same exact setup. Obviously the 4.4.2 updated to 4.4.4 as well did TWRP and SuperUser but those are the only changes other than the device. Oddly enough, Renovate's nightly releases based on Lollipop work fine. No issues at all, and I'm getting better signal than on the official 4.4.4

Maybe AT&T made some specific changes to the radio for Voice Over LTE (VoLTE) in the latest M8 OTA, that isn't playing well with CM12? I know VoLTE was implemented in the OTA, so this is certainly a possibility, now that I think about it.
Unfortunately, if that is the case, downgrading the radio isn't allowed with s-on.

dBm and dB. Yeah the VoLTE thing is the only thing that I can think of. I mean they were lethargic in getting 4.4.4 pushed out bc of it not wanting to play nice, and I'm assuming that's the issue with 5.0.1 siiiiiiiiiince we're the only carrier without it. Still.

That is odd, I would not think the same radio with a different ROM would yield better signal in dBm.
I went through the same thing yesterday,. The difference was that I was running ViperOneM8 ROM (and really liked it). I contacted the Venom support folks and they indicated that they are aware and that it's the new AT&T HD voice (VoLTE) causing problems and there is no solution at present. Weirdest thing, I was able to receive calls... but only when I was not on the LTE network. The ROM would not let me select my network. I got some error when I tried that.
I relocked bootloader, ran RUU... then tried installing "HTC_One_M8_Lollipop_5.0.1LRX22C" which I ran in the past with no issues. I was unable to receive calls with this ROM as well. However this ROM does allow me to select between 2G, 3G and 4G (LTE) cellular networks and as long as I selected 2G or 3G, I receive calls just fine. Selecting the LTE option forces all calls directly to voice mail.
Until this gets resolved, looks like I am stuck.

Yuppers, this is the only ROM that has allowed me to receive calls and working WiFi. Been running it for two weeks now. Yet again, no visual voicemail but that's an AT&T issue since they haven't updated to a Lollipop build.

A very strong 4G LTE signal AND this is one of the fastest ROM's I've EVER tried. Btw, the battery life is AMAZING. I can easily get a full day and a half of regular use out of one full charge
It may work for your setup, but it did not work for me. The Venom support team would not even waste time troubleshooting (understandable) since it was a known issue/limitation.

Dude, I'm not talking about a Venom ROM. I'm using the ROM found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/development/rom-leedroid-one-m8-l-v1-0-5-t3019102 LeeDroid has it working fine but ViperOne, SD, Android Revolution, CM12, etc all had the issues you're complaining about. Try it and then thank me. Make a nandroid backup. Worst case scenario? You waste a few minutes and can say "I told you so"
To make this as plain as possible, if your device is on the current AT&T issued 4.4.4 release, LeeDroid's Lollipop/Sense 7 ROM WILL WORK FOR YOU!!
ive been with vzw since 2002 so the only thing i know about tmo is their plan of unlimited everything with 5gb hotspot and wifi calling. my questions are as followed:
1. is the s5 rootable?
2. can you use flashfire with it or do i need a custom recovery like safe strap, twrp, etc?
3. can i use unlimited hotspot as opposed to 5gb? will tmo find out if i do use a root method to bypass it?
4. are there go custom tw roms available?
5. can i get xposed running on tmo s5?
6. how good is the wifi calling? i have fios at home running 50 dn and 50 up, so im not concerned with bandwith.
7. im on long island ny, anyone from the NY area, can you report back on service?
As of now, i have a rooted S5 with MOAR Rom V8. I also have flashfire along with xposed. i dont have a custom recovery but with flashfire, there is no need. Im also on an unlimited data plan with vzw, so if i move im not porting my number until i test all this out. Basically i want what i have now, but with tmo.
Any help is much appreciated!

1. Rootable yes
2. Never used flashfire, but yes twrp/cwr no safe strap since tmos bootloader is unlocked.
3. Theres hacks but eventually all stop working for some reason or another
4. Tmo based wise theres a few. Or you can run international roms and be more up to date firmware wise and more rom choices. You do lose wifi calling and tmo crapware tho
5. If on kitkat works great. On Lollipop Ive heard its buggy on touchwiz but its being worked on to fully work. So yes
6. Ive used to like 5 times on accident. Worked well. (I really have no need for it)
7. No clue. I live 100s of miles south.

hey, thanks for the response
quick question about losing wifi calling, i feel like i will really need it, i have a big house problem and in the basement i get 0 bars from verizon. the fact that wifi calling is a feature on tmo is huge especially if the service will be similar. do you lose wifi calling on tw roms or is it just international roms where you lose wifi calling?
hows your service where you live? have you done a speed test?

Just if you run international roms. If wifi calling is a must stay with tmo based touchwiz roms.
Pretty good. I've gotten 60s and 70s on speed test. And seen people pull over 100mbps
FYI not sure if you are going to buy a t-mobile S5 or if you already have one but the Verizon S5 will work with T-mobile roms flawlessly and is already factory unlocked to work with a T-mobile Sim card. I get WiFi calling and all with mine. If you want to know how just look at my recent posts in the VZW section its surprisingly very easy.

Hi,
I just wanted to put this out there if any of you guys like me relies on the T-mobile LTE Cellspot to get a good signal and data in your house. On 5.1.1 it worked like a dream, with speeds up to 60 mps download. As soon as I installed the update I'd no-longer get LTE using the cellspot. The LTE light stopped blinking (it should always blink when your getting LTE on your phone), and the 3G/4G light started blinking and all I could get was 4G with 10-12 mps download and I'd loose signal all together a lot. Witch never ever happened before the update. So I did all the usual things. I did a factory reset on my phone . I did a reset on my cellspot. I called Tmobile the first time and the guy basically said 6.0 is buggy and you'll just have to wait until LG issues another update to fix this bug. He offered me LG's phone number I said forget it and hung up. I thought about it a bit then called back. This guy just immediately issued me a replacement device, witch they sent overnight. I got it in the mail yesterday and when I set it up it was still on Android 5.1.1 and works perfectly again. I'm scared to update it again. I was just wondering if anyone else on here has a V10 and uses an LTE Cellspot and has updated to 6.0 and had any of these issues? If so please let me know. If your still on 5.1.1 and rely on a cellspot then beware of updating to 6.0.
thanks.

I am in the same situation. I traded in my TMO wifi router for the LTE Cell tower. Great addition since we had 4 phones and 2 tablets that were all on wifi prior to. Once I updated my V10 (via LG Bridge) I immediately noticed a difference in signal strength. Prior to, I had full bars of LTE coverage anywhere in the house. After the update, I regularly see the spinning circle (searching for signal) above my signal bars, and even out in public, my signal strength has dropped. I was going to be patient and see if another update followed soon. If not, I might root and start testing other roms and kernels.

Here's hoping for a root breakthrough!

Thanks for the info guys. I got lucky and Tmobile sent me a new V10 with Lollipop still on it so it's working great again. I noticed that that MM update isn't available anymore, the few times I checked anyhow, I called Tmobile, and I don't know if the guy was full of it or not but he said they pulled the 6.0 update and are working on putting out a 6.01 update that works better. But if you hurry and call Tmobile they may send you a new phone that's still on Lolipop like they did for me. Let me know if an new update comes out that works with CELLSPOT otherwise I'll wait for root. Thanks for the feedback though I really appreciate it.

According to the Marshmallow update page for T-Mobile devices as well as the support page for the V10, they have not pulled the update nor is there any mention of them doing pulling it so the dude who told you they did us full of, well you know what. Never believe anything the customer service person on the phone says because 9 times out of 10, you will know more then them, and they are clueless most of the time.

yea your right buddy.. they just sent me another OTA to update for MM. I figured out a way so it would stop bugging me about it. I'm not upgrading again until a new update comes out that I'm sure works with my cellspot. the only thing I miss about MM is the new Google Now... that is really slick. I wish there was a way to get that without updating from lolipop
Ok, T-Mobile is aware of this issue and are currently working on 6.0.1 to fix the problem, I don't know how long, but I was lucky enough to get a replacement phone with Lolipop, and I'm not updating it until the 6.0.1 is out and somebody successfully did it and it works, until then I'll stay on lollipop, all I really miss is Google now on tap.

Ok, I just got off the phone, with both Tmobile and LG, I can confirm they are working hard on a 6.0.1 update for the V10, they claim all bugs will be fixed with this update, thank goodness I got back to Lolipop. But they are working on this update to come out in a month maybe 2, both people at LG and Tmobile said. So good news.

yea your right buddy.. they just sent me another OTA to update for MM. I figured out a way so it would stop bugging me about it. I'm not upgrading again until a new update comes out that I'm sure works with my cellspot. the only thing I miss about MM is the new Google Now... that is really slick. I wish there was a way to get that without updating from lolipop

Care to share how you got rid of the annoying update notification?! It's basically telling me to update to a buggy unrooted MM when I like my v4a too much! I haven't figured out what app to freeze or hide the notification yet..
Thanks in advance!

I'm not 100% certain on this, but I believe that freezing the update center Will Stop the MM upgrade because I tried that & it seems to have have been the cause of the notification disappearing. I had to restart my phone after freezing it to make the notification go away, but it did go away without my hiding the notification for Google play services. I hope this is able to help you
Saw that they finally have root for MM but I do rely on the T-Mobile cellspot at work. Also you guys mentioned that you random signal lost while out and about. I'm not gonna take the chance to update my phone. Will wait and see what v6.0.1 brings. Otherwise, I'm content with lollipop, does all I need it to. I used Siraltus's methods to disable the OTA notification.

Sorry I haven't looked at this thread in awhile. I got rid of the notification by going to. Settings >General >apps>all> then scroll down to the update center and just hit disable. That stopped it for me. Let me know if that worked for you as well.
Any News on this?
I went into my local tmobile store, they claimed that LG has notified them on the mistake on the 6.0 update and that they are working on a fix. My wife and I have the V10's and are tired of the network drops.... getting old. worked fine on lollipop. I guess it's a waiting game now, since there are no publications on this issue. every time I call customer support, they have no idea that this is a problem.

I was told the same thing and I was sent a replacement phone with Lolipop still on it and I haven't upgraded again. I don't know if that's still an option or if they're shipping the V10s already with the 6.0 update. It might be worth looking into. If you raise a big enough stink they'll send you new phones. I couldn't live with this phone on 6.0, it was horrible. All I really miss about the update is Google now on tap and that's not really a huge deal because this phone is so awesome running on 5.1.1 on the cellspot.

I just picked up a lg G5with 6.0.1 and already exchanged device...drops signal with cellspot every 1 minute...no signal, full bars...Tech support no issues noted on their end with G5 and said sorry go back and get a different device
---------- Post added at 04:49 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:40 PM ----------
i did see that turning off GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto and switch GSM/WCDMA,seems to be holding a signal and staying connected to LtE cellspot...so just the people getting a G5 and reading this..1st thing i would try do!
I wonder if that would work on the V10 6.0 update.. Hmmm, I'm scared to try, if anyone already has the V10 on 6.0 and you try that let me know.

LTE Connectivity now working
Came home today and LTE connection from cellspot working. I don't think T-Mobile updated phone, as there were no updates. I think they may have updated the LTE cellspot via internet connection. Did a hard reset of cellspot yesterdat. LTE connects with 35 mbs speed (same as internet connection). Greensboro,

I am thinking about purchasing the LeEco Le Max 2 to use with AT&T. I've been reading on XDA and it seems like the US variant is the x829 one. I'd love to have the 6GB RAM model but the x829 does not have 6GB RAM.
Is there anyone here using the 6GB RAM model without issues (especially getting LTE to work) on AT&T? or maybe T-Mobile? If yes, which hardware variant do you have? The x820/x821/x82x...etc? and from where did you buy your device? Please share the full link if you have it.
Also is there a guide that shows which bands each variant supports?
Thanks guys, really appreciate any feedback.
Google "le max 2 x829 128gb" you'll find many places to purchase a 6gb/128gb x829 for as low as $245. I have the 4/64 x829 running stock rom on T-mobile with full coverage on lte. To my understanding the only band that's problematic is band 20 which we dont use in the united states. I bought it for my wife who wanted a rose gold model which is not offered in the 829 but I forced the gold 829 variant on her because I wanted direct access to the 829 rom so I can do some deving on it. I'm ordering a rose gold 4/32 for her Thursday for $193. When it arrives I'm going to clone her rom directly to the 820 then take over the 829 and have some fun. As for the 829 we currently have she loves it, loves the screen loves the camera loves the new ui (I hate it but to each their own). Call quality is great, volte works and even wi-fi calling on tmo works. As a comparison my wifes last phone was a Moto X 2015 (xt1575)
@castuis Thank you for the information. Do you mind if I ask from which website/seller you brought the phone? also where are you seeing the 6gb/128gb for $245?
Got mine from tinydeal. Ali express for the 128gb but they bumped it up to $259 about an hour ago, plus you couldn't pay me to order from them, made that mistake a few years back.
I am awaiting a silver 6GB/128GB from coolicool.com.
My first order with them, but they have been conversing with me via email since I changed the shipping address.
I 'should' have it with the next week? I hope it arrives and has a good fingerprint scanner?
@fcreeves I'm thinking about ordering from coolicool as well. Did you order from the Hong Kong warehouse or the Europe warehouse? Can you please let me know the condition of the phone when you receive it and which variant is it? x820 or x821 or x822 or x829?
A friendly word of warning. Success with the phones on T-mobile is not an indicator of how well they will work on AT&T, even though they are both GSM networks. For example, if voLTE is important to you, you are very likely not going to get it on AT&T. It is not automatically provisioned on AT&T, unless they know your phone intimately (and they don't know the Max 2 from a tin can and a string.) The first line of tech support refuses to even enable it on "unlocked" phones. There's also no means for WiFi calling, via an app or otherwise, unless you count the microcell boxes.
I'm tempted to call "BS" on anyone who says they are using these features on AT&T with these phones, based on the time I have spent on the phone with tech support..
Under the right conditions (read: areas), the phones work great on the AT&T network. Fast LTE data, and decent call reliability. But if if you want the bells and whistles, and enhanced reliability, the Max 2 can't deliver what the more mainstream brands can on AT&T. Even when right next to a tower, with the Max 2 showing full bars, I am unable to make calls, while every major branded phone brought into that same area has no problems. So something isn't 100% with these phones.
@RandyT2 I really appreciate the feedback.
@fcreeves, I'll be waiting for a feedback from you on the phone condition & fingerprint scanner.
I do have X829 64GB in the Boston area and I just got the Straight Talk AT&T nano sim yesterday. Popped it in, transferred my #. Had to change my APN in order to get LTE working, but everything seems good now. I don't know about VoltLTE, but everything else seems OK (for the moment).
With Straight Talk you have the option to go either Sprint/AT&T/T-Mobile or Verizon. I was using AT&T on my Nexus 5 so I thought I'd stick with it. Not sure if Verizon would be a better choice, but I didn't want to wait for them to send me another sim to test it.
The main issue for me right now is getting the fingerprint sensor working and rooting/flashing my ROM which seems a daunting task.
@Wagmans thank you for your feedback, not sure why many have issues with the fingerprint scanner and some don't have issues at all with it. It would be good to know if it's a hardware or software thing.

Can you give me some idea as to the ROM and Baseband version of the X829 phones you have? I really need WiFi calling, if I wish to keep this phone (which I do), and the way I understand that the T-mobile Wifi calling works is that the ROM detects that its an option based on the connection with the carrier, and the option just appears on the phone.
I'm ready to ditch AT&T because I have a fairly unique situation which makes the phone virtually useless to me without WiFi calling. But I need to make sure that I'm not switching, just to have the same issues, or to find out that only the X829 version supports it.
Thank you!

I think it's more of a software thing. We'll know once I root/flash it if that's the case. The root/flash process for this phone seems so involved. A little overwhelming- I hope I don't brick it.

It's too easy to flash TWRP, flash a new ROM, root and do all the things you need with it. This phone is practically unbrickable as you have a guide that teaches you how to unbrick it. Still, it's as easy as it gets to play with it.
@Wagmans please keep us updated if you get the fingerprint scanner to work
Yeah keep us posted. I'm interested in this phone. I have a Samsung S5 which I love and still use with no issues, but I'd like to have dual sim and have redpocket 99$ per year plan and Freedompop free data on the other. This set up will end up saving me hundreds of $$ per year.

Or a human thing. I got my wife the x820 in January. Immediately flashed TeamSpain's CM13 understanding the stock firmware had fingerprint scanner issues. All that, and only to learn she rarely gets the phone to accept her print, but when I pick it up it works every time. So there is obviously a human print component in the equasion that determines the FP scanner works, in addition to hardware & firmware.
I pulled the trigger on the TinyDeal 64 x829 today for $202 for myself. Leaving the Moto G4 xt1625 behind as a backup. I'm sorry, 2 GB RAM on my Moto G4 is insufficient. We expect our phones to be computers, and they are, but we'd never expect to run 2GB RAM on a modern day desktop. I'd really like to see a 32GB model with 6GB RAM.

I'll fool around with it. I'm still confused as to exactly which ROM I should flash and still have US Straight Talk/AT&T compatibility? Would the stock Indian ROM work? How about the Chinese? I don't know what the differences are (needs to have English, obviously). It would be nice to flash a stock ROM and be able to get the software updates from LeEco (as opposed to being locked out with my modified 16s now).
Oh, and as far as I can tell, VoLTE/MMS is working for me on AT&T in the Boston area.
So to sum up, everything is good for me on this phone except fingerprint and new/better ROM. I'll see if I can resolve that once I get some answers as to which ROM to flash.

I'd say if you want updates from LeEco, then don't flash. IMO security updates are really what's at stake.
Ideally:
(1) you want a stable rom with all the bells and whistles to make you happy, and
(2) the dev is updating the rom every MONTH with google's security patches.
But we don't live in an ideal world. TeamSpains CM13 rom may be the best google stock-like rom out there, but it appears not to be 'updated' anymore. It's very stable and everything just works. So from a performance standpoint, it's great. But from a security standpoint maybe not. But then again, branded carrier phones sometimes never get security updates

As far as I remember, the Chinese one has no limitations such as SIM1 4G and SIM2 only 3G or less. I'm using the Chinese one for quite some time and I'm happy with it. The Indian ROM has Play store but will add an encryption to your phone. In case you want to flash something again using TWRP, you have to format internal memory. The US version that was leaked 3-4 months ago had a limit of 4G on SIM1 only and 3G on SIM2.
Once you will flash the ROM, don't root it, otherwise you will not receive updates and you have to flash the new official stock again when it comes out. Search "manual gapps" to install Play Store on it.
Any ROM has English on it, even the Chinese, and it's not "translated"
About the AT&T compatibility, I'm not so sure. Maybe somebody from US can help on that matter.

I just flashed the 20s Chinese full package, fingerprint started working again. I live in Michigan, I get LTE on [email protected]/ straight talk. Everything works fine with that ROM
