Phone just arrived, after advice - Elephone P9000 Questions & Answers

Hey, my P9000 just arrived in the mail Loving it so far.
I am wondering whether or not its worth me flashing a custom ROM or to wait for Elephone to release CM13.
What would people advice me to do? To flash a custom rom? Update the default and root it until CM13?
Also, what are the benifits of each of the 2 main custom roms in development at the moment?
Your response is greatly appreciated Thanks!

go and test yourself. after you have changed the ele recovery to twrp, you can go anytime back to your previous rom.
best regards

[Q] Xperia GB to ICS, upgrade or not?

Hi guys, due to the delay in update rollout for my active i had some spare time to take a look into custom roms and was left wondering should i do a stock update or flash a custom rom?
The reason i think my question isn't dumb is because full os update isn't an everyday situation. Before if you were on GB and wanted ICS features (plus extras) you only had one choice. What had me wondering is the number of people looking for the original stock rom to revert back to and update. Is the official update more stable/device suited/compatible than the CM7/9 rom, or just the same deal with fewer customization options?
Thank you for your opinions

Stock roms are specifically designed for your phone and is tested by the manufacturer. So it would be very stable. Custom ICS roms had some problems with for e.g Accelerometer coz they didn't have the proper driver. Once ICS for your device is released, then custom rom developers will use the original drivers to make their roms working properly So wait for Official ICS
Hit Thanks If I Helped
Thank you for your opinions! The ideal would be a custom on official update....let's hope that will be out soon!

Leeco Max 2 x829

Hi, I am in Canada and just received my new Max 2 x829 and wonder if it is worth it to update the stock ROM or it is working well, I am not an expert and the instructions to update the ROM is complicated to me, however, if the update will solve issues or improve the phone performance, then I might try to follow the instructions.
Thanks in advance for your help,

If you don't update and still using the 16S you will probably get a dead fingerprint sensor.

I have a couple x829 and tried most roms, the best one for me was the stock rom that came with the phones, hands down not even close 2nd.
Heyyo fellow Canadian, so sadly the "international" firmware and ROM it comes with is modified and only built to work on that one version of EUI so it will never receive updates.
The ROM I'd recommend for stability and functionality? Resurrection Remix Marshmallow. That or as others have said Mokee is good.
X829 devices will need a new modem firmware flashed in order for the fingerprint reader to work properly with other ROMs and to try and avoid camera issues and so fourth because the modem firmware definitely does more than modem.
Thanks castuis for your advise, I was thinking to stay with the rom that came with the phone but I had a fear that after setting up the phone adding apps and spend too much time, then the time will come when I have problem and I have to flash the phone with another rom and start over, it is very confusion when my many people talking about changing the rom that come with the phone to solve issues and them you are saying the the best rom is the one coming with the phone, so for how long you are using your phone and do you use the fingerpring reader? how is the camera performance? Did you try the Indian rom 19s (this is the one I am thinking about now)?
ThE_MarD, does the Resurrection Remix Marshmallow have over the air update or you need to do it manually every time? What is the modem firmware?

New to Leeco. Need help on updates

Hello all!
I am just new to leeco mobiles. I just purchased (wrongly) the Le max 2 x829 4Gb / 64Gb.
1. I would like to know how to officially update the rom as i can't see any place to update (OTA) or not.
Can anyone help me to choose the best rom version for this beast? Also one version that the fingerprint sensor is not that slow...
2. I would also apreciate if anyone can help me on choosing a "custom" rom, stable, fast and with not battery drains (currently on stock rom i can get almost 2 days of battery) with average usage (some 4g, many wi-fi, some calls, some sms, some browsing, no games).
Many thanks in the advance for the help.

1. Most of us here root the phone and install TWRP recovery and flash custom rom. Even official stock roms you can flash them with TWRP. Its the easiest way to get update I think. Official update I never do it. Guide how to root/install TWRP here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-max-2/how-to/protocol-backup-stock-rom-flash-stock-t3517151
This tread have some more info you asking for:

2. For stock rom you can try Small EUI by Aurel there is few battery mode you can choose or Madsurfer's 5.9.23S (with Htc Sense home launcher) it got pretty good battery life. If you want to try 7.1 Nougat rom you can try Nexus rom or Mokee I think.

Official Indian stock last one was I think 5.8.019S, come with Google service and Play store its cleaner. Chinese stock rom don't come with Google service/Playstore and have some chinese stuff apps and LeEco video streams etc. If you flash any official stock rom it will replace TWRP with EUI stock recovery. So you will need to flash TWRP recovery again via Fastboot or other way.

Chinese stock rom you can install Google installer and after use it to install Google service and Playstore thats one way to do it.

Recently bought X829 varient have a few questions thanks!

Okay so as title says i recently bought a LeEco Le Max 2 X829 from gearbest. I had a few questions and was hoping someone here could help =).
I have searched but didn't seem to find much to help me. Well first i was wondering if i should just leave it on the rom i receive from gearbest or is that a bad idea, Also was curious if the phone would work with h2o, It has all the bands but just wanting to get verification from someone else. Thanks.
Hello @AdcMainVayne,
As far I'm concerned this phone works in most European countries and the only band that does not work is LTE Band 20, but the rest should work just as expected. When it comes to the stock firmware available on the X829, I recommend you to install a custom rom like Cuoco92, because of that the stock rom on the X829 receives no updates and comes with a very outdated version of EUI. The link to the Fastboot package for Cuoco92 can be found here.
I would flash the latest Indian ROM after wiping everything since online Chinese retailers are known to add trojans/viruses/etc. Besides the X829 ROM is abandonware and won't get any updates ever.

Flashing the indian rom for this phone would kind of not be very worthwhile as it runs on an older version of EUI and as far as I'm concerned it also runs on an older security update, so flashing a CN-based ROM with gapps would be ideal in most cases,
Thanks for the replies, I guess Cuoco92 is the best custom rom to choose from in your opinion?

If you're looking for a rom that's stable and runs EUI, I would definitely recommend Cuoco92.

I would try official linage, Resurrection remix, MIUI rom. Once you get your bootloader unlocked and TWRP installed you can try any of them. I really hated eui stock rom. Also with h2o you might have to go to a store or call them to have them add your IMEI Sim slot for service.

I see yeah ive been reading about the custom roms a bit today, guides etc. Are there any issues you've experienced with the rom's you've listed by any chance?

Sound and camera issues on rr and linage. I mean everything works and buttery smooth. Antutu 150,000 score on rr. I'm on Miui8 7.4.2.4 now I really like how smooth it is. No sound issues. Pretty stable. Kind of similar to eui. It's a a port not official. Android 6. But really like it a. Lot. Kind of hard to get it working the first time. Small eui just lags to much for me.
Crazy fast LTE and I'm on metro pcs.

Shall I put on a custom ROM?

Hello dear Elephants, I'm really honoured to belong here because of my new Elephone S8. I really love the hardware but software is really buggy. So, referring to https://forum.xda-developers.com/elephone-s8/development/rom-elephone-s8-15-10-eragon-1-0-t3689359, is that a good idea to replace the firmware? If some of you is using this ROM, you can also provide me the pros and cons. Many thanks in advance!
If you're familiar with such things, going from stock to custom and back is pretty simple. Why not just give it a test drive?
I'm not so familiar. I've been flashing lots of ROMs in my lifetime but not into this particular device. Which method do I use to flash firmware?
Will I die, if I flash the Eragon ROM from Elephone's firmware update section?
If you're going to run a custom ROM, spending a couple of hours reading through the thread for that ROM might be worth your time, as it will contain the answers to many of your questions and possibly save you from some future troubles.
Thanks! Will do as you say.
I used eragon rom for a few months but the developer has withdrawn from the project and the latest version is not really stable. I had some network problems and some weeks ago I got problems with massive battery drain of about 15% per hour without any heavy usage. The only thing that helped was to go back to stock. Since then I'm on stock rom again and everything is fine now. I don't experience any major differences in performance.
Anyway I hope the developer will continue his work on the S8 and eragon rom in the future, at least if android 8 will be released.
How to revert back to Stock Rom? (From Eragon)

You can download the latest stock version here:
https://bbs.elephone.hk/forum.php?m...ra=page=1&filter=typeid&typeid=151&typeid=151
Unpack the rar file and load the scatter file with flashtool. Be careful which boxes are checked in the list. I accidently deleted all data (including external memory) from the phone because this option was checked by default!
Edit: I have corrected the link above, the first one did not work.
You can also download on Mega with the following link:
