I rooted my phone 1 year ago and no problems until last week. It runs on soak test 5.0.2 Lollipop. Stock ROM.
After normal use I went to sleep and next morning I see twrp recovery was on. I didn't flashed/modified anything.
I tried reflashing recovery, flashing stock rom but no use. Also I have nandroid backup but fails to restore. I was getting these kind of errors in twrp when I try to restore.
E: Unable to mount '/data'
E: Unknown MTP message type: 1
When I try to wipe cache or data, I was getting the below error messages in twrp.
Formatting System using make_ext4fs function.
E : Unable to mount '/system'
Updating partition details...
E : Unable to mount '/system'
E : Unable to mount '/data'
E : Unable to mount '/cache'
E : Unable to mount '/persist'
E : Unable to mount '/firmware'
E : Unable to mount '/fsg'
E : Unable to mount '/pds'
Also tried flashing 4.4.4 stock rom using fastboot but it gives errors.
Please please someone help me.. Many thanks in advance... confused:

I have the MTK version of the RN3
I can't flash any roms using TWRP, I always get the following error:
Updater Process ended with ERROR: 7
Error installing zip file [rom file path here]
Updating partition details...
Failed to mount '/oem' (Invalid argument)
...done
I get the same 'Failed to mount '/oem' (Invalid argument) line when I try to factory reset/format the phone.
The formatting still (maybe partially) goes through though, which now results in me having no OS installed and not being able to install one.
Can someone help?

For anyone wondering, this seems to always work when nothing else does anymore:

Hello All,
I have a problem where TWRP is not able to mount /data, although the device still works without any other problems. It has happened when i upgrade the TWRP recovery from 3.2.1-0 to 3.2.1-1
This is preventing me to install Magis modules unfortunately.
I have a OOS Open BETA 1 for the Oneplus 5T.
Here's the log:
Code:
[COLOR="Red"]Could not mount /data and unable to find crypto footer.
Failed to mount '/data' (No such device)
Unable to recreate /data/media folder.[/COLOR]
Updating partition details...
[COLOR="red"]Failed to mount '/data' (No such device)
Failed to mount '/preload' (Invalid argument)[/COLOR]
...done
Full SELinux support is present.
After I did a factory data reset in TWRP, every thing looks normal but when I boot the OS and do the first boot setup
and then go back to TWRP the problem appears again.
How do I fix it?
Thanks in advance.
SPECS:
OS: lineage OS 8.1 official.

I have the same problem. Did you find a solution yet?
Everytime I try to wipe cache/dalvik I get
Code:
Could not mount /data and unable to find crypto footer.
Failed to mount '/data' (Invalid argument)
Unable to recreate /data/media folder.

Hi all,
I'm very new here and I hope you all can help me unbutton my phone.
So I have a Samsung S3 I9300, with CM 13.0 installed, I'm using CW recovery v2.7.0.0
I have installed many custom ROMs for this device over the last few years without any problem, each time formatting and cleaning the Dalvik cache etc.
Today my phone restarted randomly and a message came that my phone failed to encrypt and cleared all my data and that I had to restart on recovery to perform a factory reset.
A bit random I thought .. So I rebooted in recovery and did a "reset to default" in CW .. this was successful, however I noticed some problems on the terminal screen ...
Code:
E: Can not find partition size for / boot
E: can not find partition size for / recovery
E: Primary block device / dev / block / mmcblk0p12 to the mount point is not present!
E: Internal storage can not be mounted
E: Unable to mount / data / media during GUI initialization
E: can not mount / cache
SELinux full support is present
E: can not mount / cache
E: can not mount / cache
E: Can not mount /data/media/TWRP/.twrps when trying to read the settings file
E: Can not mount / data
Updating partition details ...
E: can not mount / efs
E: Can not mount / data
E: Can not mount / data
E: can not mount / cache
E: Unable to mount / system
E: Can not mount / data
E: Can not mount / pre-load
E: Internal storage can not be mounted
I tried to format but it fails.
I can not install another ROM because both the internal memory and the SD card show 0MB.
I plugged the SD card into my computer and there are still files on the card.
I had a look online and found that typing a command in the terminal should fix it, however, nothing happens ..
I get an error that mmcblk0p12 does not exist.
Code:
mke2fs / dev / block / mmcblk0p12
