I needed a answer to this question quickly, and seeing as the LG V10 forum is dead, could not ask there. Is it possible, on AT&T, to flash a system.zip? I did a pull, and injected SuperSU, I am having problems putting it back on the phone, is there anyway to flash a system.zip, or do you HAVE to have a TOT to do this?
You need a TOT, and even then this won't work. Check the forums, this has been talked about a million times

I've been trying to root my HTC Hero for the past 2 days and since I'm COMPLETELY new to all of this, I found no easy method.
After a lot of research, I realized I need to patch my recovery screen so I can load new ROMs (correct me if I'm wrong). I've tried many methods, one where I install Flashrec onto my phone, but that didn't work. I also tried this method I found on android.modaco.com. I can't link outside of this site since I'm new, so I can't show you the method. I can tell you the problems I encountered when trying the two procedures and maybe you can tell me what to do from there.
I also tried the Goldcard method. I think it worked out and my memory card is good to go, but I don't know where to go from there. (Also, how can I test out my memory card to check if it really has the Goldcard?)
Please don't bash me for not knowing anything on this stuff. I'd love to learn about it, but I just don't know where to start.
Help would be very appreciated.
EDIT: Sorry if this is in the wrong section. I searched throughout the entire site and tried to find the most appropriate section for me to put this thread and thought this was the place.

5 reasons not to root your Android
Hello Moekz, I am more or less in your situation, may I ask you a question? are you usually developing? if yes.. you probably will need a root, if not then probably it's better to keep the device as it is. There are few problems with rooting the phone and if the reason is to update to the 2.1...forget it now! At the moment there is not the perfect ROM on Web, we need to wait until HTC comes out with the official ROM. If you decide to root the phone you have to be sure the bluetooth, wifi are ok and the battery life is good...then is tricky and maybe dangerous for your phone if you don't follow step by step and perfectly the tutorial of Unlocker.com and xda suggestion. Anyway there is a video even on youtube: How to root your Hero with one click..watch it and then decide. I would wait 3-4 weeks. Good luck!

Well, that's just it. I don't want to wait 3-4 weeks for the update. It's been a while since HTC released Android 2.1, and we still don't have it for the Hero.
Prolly been asked numerous times but cant seem to find anything on it. I spent about 5 hours today just rooting my phone because instructions are never clear and i had to do trial and error before i finally got it, so i am by no means an expert!
I have a verizon lg g2 and am wanting to put the malladus 1.2.2 rom on it but have absolutely no clue how!
Directions say flash rom, but i have no clue what that even means. I have done this back in the day 3 times to my original galaxy s and got it but the directions were clear.
do i have to get e recovery program? i read something about that and also a clockworkmod or something?
So if someone could or would have the patience to explain to me step by step what needs done, i would GREATLY appreciate it. Like i said, all i have done is rooted it and i downloaded the malladus 1.2.2, the lg apps, and the gapps that it said i needed but dont know where to go from there.

well thanks to all your help or lack there of, i now have a bricked phone because no one wants to tell me anything or help. Thanks
Not everyone here has a Verizon LG G2, You should have come to the IRC and directed your questions there first and been more patient if you're unfamiliar with these sort of things. Your bricked phone is no ones fault but your own, sorry.
Sent from my LG-LS980 using xda app-developers app
You're welcome. You asked for help, chose not to wait so you went ahead and did it - and failed. Yes, that's our fault. You shouldn't do things you have NO clue about. The first thing you should do is to READ. If you can't find the things you need, then SEARCH. There are over 5 million registred users here, so your questions have most likely been asked several times before, i.e they are here and you can search for them.

Dude, this is not a user support forum and no one is sitting around waiting for someone like yourself to ask questions that can only be answered by doing research that you should be doing yourself. You and only you are responsible if you bricked your device.
If you want help, your chances are higher if you post in your device specific forum, provide enough detail for people to know exactly what you did so they can provide accurate advice, and then be patient and wait for as long as it takes. Or you could do your own research and figure it out.
Funny, i didnt brick my phone, just was curious as to how many people would decide to talk if it meant they could get rude with me lol
And i posted where i thought i was supposed to, i couldnt find my phones forum. Sorry, and i DID read, i have been reading non stop, the advice just isnt working.
I tried flashify after reading that it worked (on here) and it said it did but after reboot i just get a dead droid and have to hold down vulume key and power to get it back on and recovery or download startup dont work now!
I am not impatient and i understsand im not the center of everything, just figured someone could chime in with some advice, but i guess its only worth typing if you have something unhelpful to say!
*Okay, before I explain what is going on with my phone I just want to say I am good with phones and understand them I just have trouble sometimes with them, which everybody does, but everything I know I learned on my own.*
* PHONE DETAILS- LG OPTIMUS Q LGL55C, ANDROID VERSION 2.3.4*
*Before we start, my port on my phone where the charger goes into is completely fried,(We will not get into that discussion... Lol), So no USB work.*
I have a LG Optimus Q lgl55c. I know a lot about root, and as you can assume since I said that, my phone is rooted. I successfully rooted my phone, that was no problem, but I started to look into more about what the phone is actually capable of. I looked into it and did some research. What I found out is I can go deeper with my phone and have a better user friendly experience with it. ROM's!!!! We all know and love them, but what I actually learned about is unlocking the bootloader. I know this is a long thread but I am sure one of you tech geeks can help me. Well as you read above my USB port is not functioning so I can not unlock the bootloader from a PC. Also the reason why I am bringing this up before I get into the main subject is because I have no idea if this has anything to do with my biggest problem. I have no clue what version my bootloader is right now, so I do not want to use the ez-unlock app which only supports certain versions of bootloader( I do not want to brick my device ). My first topic question- "Is there any way to unlock my bootloader without a PC and have a slighter chance of getting bricked?"
On forth to the main problem!!!!!
ROM's are the best thing in my opinion on mobile phones. I did some research and learned about flashing ROM's to change the OS and also flashing custom recoveries such as ClockWorkMod. What I did, since I can not use USB, was I researched some ways to install or, more commonly know as, flash ClockWorkMod onto my phone. The most common way I found was to install ROM Manager from the Google Play Store and flash it onto your device from there. I did all of that correctly but when I click reboot to recovery or go there manually I always get the stock recovery boot screen. I also tried the rename the files method, but the files that I was suppose to rename was no where to be found. I have tried so many things. I really want to flash ROM's onto my device. So my next question is- "Does this have anything to do with my bootloader being locked?" "Am I doing something wrong?" "Is it possible to do without a PC?" -and last but not least-"Does those missing files have anything to do with it?"
So basically my main problem is-
Is it possible, if yes, am I missing anything I have not done?

I'm gonna apologize now, for whoever's time I'm wasting. My lack of any knowledge is going to be apparent. In a nutshell, a newbie and I tend to want to know more than needed. Found luckypatcher, firmware in drink, no backup, the app to fix won't fix. Tried to use superroot before it was rooted. First my firmware wouldn't search an update, invalid signature. So I tried to fix it with what I used to mess it up with. I know much more than I did now, hindsite. Now its my SU is missing. Tried to force fix with su fixer app. When it gets to going into root, downloading ....crap something to flash. Then just stays there, doesn't download or fix nothing. I knew nothing about this stuff a couple days ago. I know even less now. Not a popular model phone. Can't even find it on this site. In the meantime was looking how to root and/or unlock codes which brought me to xda. Will unlocking the phone put this issue aside? Or do I just throw it in the pond? Because I will. From what I can ascertain this is the all the information I could gather as a know nothing 2days ago(Alcatel onetuch pop star LTE 2) 4g Straightalk
I've been at this for around 7 hours now, I've looked up dozens upon dozens of guides and downloaded a handful of utilities to help me root this phone, but no matter what I do, I can't get it to work. I've tried the "One-Click Root" Programs, I've tried to revert to ZV4, and I even tried to find a workaround to install TWRP or Cyanogen Mod without root access, but I simply cannot find a solution. My end goal is to have Cyanogen Mod 12.1 running on here, and I'm not worried keeping the factory software, though it would be a plus.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm not worried about saving my personal data, because I just did a normal factory reset anyways, in order to clean up my phone (I've been doing it more and more frequently to keep my phone working well, and I'm hoping that installing another rom will help solve these issues.)
Edit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...990-zvb-root-method-zvb-rooted-stock-t3211878 has a method that I have succeeded in using twice, just in case anyone is still looking.
I have the same issue

Same issue here tried everything I could so far to no avail don't seem like anyone here wants to help
In the FAQ, stickied here, follow Q1 and Q2. Then you can flash whatever you want. It's the best way. But maybe not the easiest.
Funny I am experiencing this very same thing. Absolutely no method works to root this bloody phone on this update of android L for the ls990, they locked it pretty good, but you said downgrading to ZV4 didn't work either? I'll read what engine suggests then.
Problem Hopefully solved...?
I was having the same issue. I found a thread on here for the ZVC and it worked for me. I had to enalble DIAG mode then run the program

This worked for me on ZVC as well
This is what worked for me.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g3/development/ls990-zva-zvb-one-click-root-method-t3212433
Its actually Super Easy to root the ls990 ZVC trust me i have two.
I used king root latest version which i think its something along the lines of 4.82 or 4.8.2 anyways it worked i got rooted in literally like 1 minute. Then i used the super sume app from the playstore to remove king root and replace it with SU and that was just as easy as it was to root. Seriously like in 10 minutes i had root i had replaced with SU and i had made a back up. Thats why i love king root. I love it and i hate it lol
Same Last Night
I had the same issue last night on my Boost Mobile LS990 ZVC. I used everything out there and couldn't figure it out. I went back and found out that the only thing that works to root the damned thing is to use the one-click-root method (that GUI or script one here on XDA). The problem is that when the phone gets stuck in download mode towards the end, you're supposed to unplug it, pull the battery, and go back into download mode and plug it back in. That fixed it for me and had me rooted in seconds. It's helped a few other people that have the G3 as well.
It should be noted, I used everything from the one click root to manually typing the scripts. I chose to put in the scripts because then I could go back and see whats going on as it's happening. I also just got this phone yesterday night and couldn't wait to root it so I tried everything out of desperation. Root works great!
Found a solution
Just in case anyone is still looking for a solution on how to do this, I found this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...990-zvb-root-method-zvb-rooted-stock-t3211878
I've successfully used this method twice, and has worked flawlessly, though I did have to try a couple times to make sure I got it right.
