Application using Zephyr HxM BT sensor - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
Is there anybody who is a developer and poses the Zephyr HxM BT sensor?
I want to develop an application that uses this sensor for getting data about the user's heart and make some simple computations with it and I have some issues with it.
Can anybody help? I will pay of course.

[Q] RELIABLE apps for recording sensor data during high altitude ballooning

Dear developers and users,
I'm planning to lift up my cellphone on a weather ballon into stratosphere. It is a Galaxy Nexus running on Android 4.2.2.
Over the last week I was intensively searching for a stable Software to record all sensors of the phone during flight while running in background. (Also pressure sensor)
Stable means for me that it can run without any error and abort of the recording over 5 hours.
I actually tested many programms but none of them could run really stable or in the background.
For the flight I also will run the following apps: my tracks, family tracker and lapse it pro for picture shooting.
I tested the following apps already:

Space tracker
Data recording
Knowing sensors
Androsensor
Sensor guru
Sensor readout

Sensor and GPS Monitor

Ir remote timer

Hello!
Does anyone have a tip on a Ir remote app that can send signals at a specific time or by timer?
I can controll my light with infrared and it would be awesome to automatically turn the lights on at a slow pace in the morning!
My phone is a LG G2

Hardware additions.

I've added a few things to my head unit but i would like to add more sensors.
First was the external wifi antenna.
Then the extra ground from the display panel ground to the chasis.
And now im wondering how i can add basic arduino sensors.
Such things as:
Accelerometer
Gyroscope
Compas
Light intensity
Preasure
Temperature
Is it as simple as getting the sensor and adding it to the i2c bus or is there a better way?
Another thing is that I'd like to add a battery backup and connect it so that the os recognises it and gives me voltage and temperature. How could i do that ?
And lastly I'd like to change the right tune knob to a rotary knob instead of the spring loaded one. I just dont know if i could get a rotary one to replace it or if i would have to use a rotary encoder and an arduino to translate that into momentary on/off's.

Instead of arduino, maybe you can send UDP data to HU from another android device that have more sensors (i.e.: android smartphone): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ubccapstone.sensorUDP&hl=it

Does the android os sensor suite also include libraries for external sensors and would it recognise a well known sensor if i simply connected it using any of the busses?
As in: could i add a light sensor and have the os recognise that its a light sensor and to use that for diming the screen like a typical smart phone or what is the process to make that happen?

Id like to build the sensors in to the unit once i figure out a way to integrate but ill have a look at that

I guess you read the other thread.
How would the OS auto magically recognize your sensor and know what to do with it?
Do you really have a problem with dimming or are you looking at tinkering with this for fun?
I like Mekanix1's idea...
I would really like to see inclinometer and G meter working in Torque app.

Just for fun. Id like to add the same sensors that would be in every smartphone. I thought that the framework would be there and all i would have to do is find a way to make it happen.

On mine there was terrible emi interference when using the front mic and making calls over bluetooth.
Turns out it was because the ground plain of the display was inducing emi into the mic and feeding it through to the bt module.
I added a ground wire from the display board's ground to the chassis ground and it reduced the noise considrerably.
The next thing i did was disconnect the mic ground and just connect that directly to the chassis ground instead of on the display board and that fixed the problem.

External usb sensors maybe can be easier solution than build them? http://www.yoctopuce.com/EN/products/usb-position-sensors/yocto-3d
However, i think the bigger problem is not hardware, but software: the Android OS of Huifei HU is not a "full and standard Android 4.4" so it is missing some features, like sensor reading capabilities...

I used an android sensor scanner on my unit and it said there was support for a variety of sensors but no input was detected.
I wonder how much one of those would cost to get and if android would recognize it.
I mean the unit does recognize different usb things I've connected.
It recognized a usb keyboard and mouse.
Just tried with an arduino connected via usb.
I uploaded a simple serial command called ping pong.
Basically when the arduino senses a connection to something on the serial it sends the text ping, and using a basic serial terminal app I got the text. Then responded with pong and it responded back. So, There is one way of having communication with an external device to do something useful.
The next thing I tried was upload a sensor suite app. If read a pressure sensor, humidity and temperature along with a real time clock.
Once connected it fed all that information to the serial program. I could see how I could add temperature and vibration sensors to it so that I could read something useful happening in the vehicle. Then I could just add sensors to the drive-train and have a way of monitoring. lots of interesting things to mess with.
Now its just a matter of using processing to create some sort of GIU. Arduino i can play with but processing is stil la mystery to me
I have been looking into this as well, but more as a future plan, as I don't have my HU yet.
Would be interested in getting direct sensor I2C support, shall start doing some digging to see how it's dune in regular phones
Did anyone come right with integrating external sensors to these HU units. Would love to use Torques inclinometer functions with an external accelerometer

Homing device for Kit

Hi guys, a local team of volunteers here in New Zealand, is looking an Android Wear watch to develop a navigation application for a blind person, Kit. Also, possibly for more general use for the visually impaired. Kit likes swimming in the sea, but has difficulty finding his way up the beach back to the entrance of a track that leads to his house. So we are considering using a watch to help him navigate, initially via GPS and magnetometer (so that he can orient in the right direction), then using a BLE proximity beacon for the last part of the journey (as it needs higher accuracy than GPS to find the start of the track). Ironically Kit, who was a renown sound engineer on many NZ films, uses hearing aids, which he can't take in the water, so is also effectively deaf when he emerges!
We have never programmed a watch before so have some fundamental questions:
- Is what we want to do achievable using Android Wear? In other words is it possible to develop significant applications that access watch resources including GPS, vibrator, buttons, BLE, magnetometer?
- Is there likely to be sufficient rom/ram to implement a program that does location and compass calculations to guide kit between a series of waypoints? Clearly it depends, but it could be quite a complex programming with floating point calculations.
- Will we effectively be able to take over the user interface to use just keys and tactile feedback from the vibrator?
Clearly the screen will be fairly useless to Kit, and his hearing problem means that tones won't help!
- Will we be able to programme the Bluetooth (smart) functionality for proximity beacon detection?
- Has anything like this been done already? If so, references and contacts would be really helpful.
The watch requires:
Waterproof, as Kit will be wearing it whilst swimming.
Accurate GPS, for initial navigation between waypoints.
Magnetometer, for orientation and course corrections.
Vibration patterns, to communicate with Kit
Key controls, preferable to touch screen (although very coarse touch screen controls might also be useful)
Gyroscope, ideally, for gesture control
Bluetooth (smart), for beacon scanning and proximity detection, for last part of journey (this is critical)
Other comments / views on what we are wanting to achieve would be appreciated.

hack possible

Hi guys, i wonder if i could somehow, hack a wearable device from a manufacturer, in order to read and display an analog voltage reading and read and display an spi/i2c sensor. given that i can connect the inputs to the hardware.
Is there any recomendation from you guys of who could do this????
