Hello,
recently I looked through every topic and tried everything to get it working. Sadly, no good results. The problem is that Samsung blocked third party notification text and Gear Fit tells you to check it on your smartphone wether you get a Gmail or Whatsapp notification. I spoke to Samsung support yesterday and he said that it is a wanted result from Samsung. I wrote an EMail to their Customer relations and I will post the answer.
Long story short, the request is to modify the newest Gear Fit Manager to show the notification instead of this hideous hint to check it on smartphone.
I am sorry if it is the wrong section but I did not know if I should post it here or in HELP section. I know that Gear Fit is now an old watch but for me it is all I need.
Thanks in advance.

Sort of. I didn't see this covered before so I thought I would share it. I installed Google Messenger on my Samsung Galaxy S5 and made it the default messaging app. I had a friend text me to see if I was able to reply to a Google Messenger notification from my Gear S. I was able to do it. I clicked on the notification, then clicked the 3 dots at the bottom right of the message, then, reply with sms.
You will see a list of quick reply phrases, but, if you click the keyboard icon on the top right, you can type out a message and send it.
Viber also works with quick reply from notification on the watch.. I guess it is related to the application compatibility with android wear which was recently added..
Hi, I need a little help. A friend of a friend ( so a person who I don't know ) asks me to add contacts in hers Gear S. At first I thought that she hadn't configured the watch, because she only has an iPhone and not a Samsung Phone. So, I wanted to activate the standalone mode ( 30 taps or something like that ) but when I have turn on the device, it was already configured. The device has a SIM card, so I tried to make a phone call, and it works. I can even see the phone calls log history ( I have read that it doesn't works on standalone watch, correct me if I am wrong ) so I am thinking It may have been paired with a Samsung phone... anyway, what can I do?
If I add contacts to the SIM, they can be read by the watch ( I googled and it seems not, but i want a confermation )?
I haven't a Samsung phone, but I have a rooted Nexus 5. If I follow a guide that allow me to pair my phone with the Gear S, can I add contacts? And then can I "un-pair" the devices so she can use the watch or something like that?
Sorry for these noob questions but I haven't be able to find good information online. I am a pretty expert Android phone user, but I know nothing about Tizen or smartwatch.
Thanks and sorry for my bad english, unfortunately it isn't my first language and I usually write only short message.

If there's contacts and other data already on her Gear S it was probably initially configured and paired to a Samsung device and that was the source of the data. The contact app on the Gear gets its feed from Samsung's contacts app on the host device. There's no way to add contacts individually in the Gear contacts app. Call logs are imported from the host device also. Call and texts made in stand-alone mode get added in the Gear's logs but don't transfer back to the phone. I can't answer the SIM contacts question because I don't store contacts there. The Gear S really isn't designed to be a "stand-alone" device as much as it is a "remote alternative" to always having to carry your Samsung phone around. People have gotten non-Samsung phones to work but a lot of key functionality ends up missing. Like being able to compose and manage e-mails and texts on the Gear which require the companion Samsung apps on the host device as their source.
Since the last Samsung Gear S upgrade a number of months ago, I have had the ability to reply to text messages using the Verizon Message+ App with my Gear S. I could dismiss or reply to my texts until they were read on my phone. Then about 2 weeks ago, I used the stock app to send a text message and I lost the ability to reply. It might be unrelated, but now I can only dismiss. I can reply on all my other apps but not texts with message+. Any ideas? I have uninstalled updates and tried to reset settings. No go. Really want it back. I might reinstall the whole phone unless someone can give a setting to change or another idea.
I have a gear 2 and never got the verizon messages+ app to work with my gear 2 and note 4. Did you every have any luck with that? I really like being able to quick reply on my wrist so I switched to the samsung messages app but definitely prefer the verizon messages+ app. I would like to hear if you found a way to get verizon messages+ working with the quick reply. Love my gear 2 gold with a 12 dollar ebay gold colored metal band. Thanks!
I'm in the same boat people. I have a Gear S and a Note 5 and really badly want to be able to use the Verizon Message+ app on the watch and have them sync up, but as of right now, I can only compose new messages from my watch, but I don't receive the incoming ones, or have any reply ability.
@jedi you say it used to work flawlessly before some update? Any luck talking with Samsung about it? or Verizon?
Hoping we can figure this out.

I was on the fence of getting a Gear S because I primarily use hangouts (SMS integrated) as my primary messaging platform. I was aware I'd be able to receive messages on my watch, but not be able to respond. However upon getting my watch and setting it up. I got a hangouts message, swiped to the left, clicked the three dots.. To my surprise I had the option to REPLY or DISMISS. Replying works fantastic with either the preset messages, keyboard, or voice input, and SENDS THE MESSAGE OVER DATA! ( Not even SMS.) This is absolutely fantastic. I figured I'd post this here because I was looking tirelessly for concrete evidence on this before making my purchase and was unable to find any. It's also worth nothing, that if i dismiss the message from my phone, I lose the ability to reply to it from my watch.
I'm not using Gear S Notification extender app either, it's working natively.

Yes, viber and whatsapp work as well.. The only con would be that you can't initiate a new message from the watch like messages.. Also in viber notification, it allows to reply only the first time you see it.. Next time it shows only dismiss option..
I've noticed that i can ONLY reply if i have Android Wear installed also. I don't even have to open it, just have it installed. If I remove it, I lose the functionality to reply.
Good to know! I was using Gear Notification Extender (got my Gear S Thursday) but didn't like how it labeled everything as GNE. I look forward to using this. Now if I could just get the Gear S to last me a full 24 hours...
Great! Thanks for posting this. Some Google apps play nice with Samsung features.

Thanks for this info. I installed Andriod Wear and now I have the reply functionality for hangouts which I did not have prior to doing so.
Would anyone know how to get email notifications over 3g while the watch is "Remotely Connected" to a phone (Note 5 in my case)?
With help from this and other forums and buying 2 great watch faces (wishing for apps instead of watch faces), I have my Gear Fit2 functioning rather well. I can get notifications (installing but not attaching Android Wear may have made notifications finally work), connect to my Google Calendar (great watch face), get to a dozen -- or so apps that are on other gear products (another great watch face), get incoming call information, reject the call, send a canned text and call back a missed/rejected call but I do not have the green answer icon and no amount of typing or swiping will answer the call. Any suggestions?

Are you talking about picking up a call from within the watch? That can't be done, only reject or reject with quick reply..
Answer only available on Samsung phones

Yes, accepting a call was supposed to be available even though you cannot use the watch to communicate verbally. I found a post that mentions the answer feature was only available on Samsung phones for the S3 so I suspected this is true for the Fit2 as well.
Such nice hardware is so wasted by the limits imposed by Samsung. If it were not for the wonderful watch faces by Stefan Thomas (qooapps), I would have given up on this watch. I hope Samsung will release other API's for independent developers.
i have the same problem
i have nokia 7plus and i can`t answer, but when is paired with s9+ i can answer
what is the problem?
