We are Ken and Houtan, two developers building a personal trainer AI for wearables. Over the past year we've built out tech that can automatically recognize a user's exercises, like bench presses and squats, if they are wearing an Android Wear smart watch. We are launching the beta program for our app, YouMove, and are inviting members of the XDA community to join. We would love your comments and feedback on what we've done and would be thrilled to hear your suggestions on what we should do next!
Apply for the Beta!
We recently added the ability for the app to learn new user exercises, which we are really excited about!
Other features we are currently testing:
- Automatic, passive recognition of weight training, calisthenics and cardio exercises
- Tracking of exercises, reps, sets, resting times, calorie counts, and intensity
- Detailed display of a user's workout in a timeline on watch and phone
We know the XDA community can provide some great feedback on what we've made so far. Thanks everyone!

This looks really cool! I've been tracking my workouts using Google Sheets for a while now, but if this works, I could totally see it replacing that. I'll let you know more of my thoughts after I sign up for the beta and try it out a bit, but I was just wondering if there is a way to see your progress by exercise type in some place on the app. I've always roughly guessed how I've improved over time at, say, bench press, and I know that I can do it now if I really wanted to, but it'd be really cool to have it readily available on the app.
Looks interesting, may take it for a spin!
Where is the link for download? Also:
1. Will you be having only dark color for the app?
2. Does it support Android Wear independently without the need of the phone?
2.1. Does it support the internal GPS of Sony Smartwatch, for instance?

Current it is a closed beta, so once you apply we will send an email with a link.
1. We are switching to a lighter color UI on the phone. Sticking to a dark color on watch to conserve battery life.
2. Yes, it works on the watch independently of the phone.
3. At this point it doesn't support GPS. Right now we are primarily focused on weight training and calisthenics. But when we do hit cardio, we'll make sure to use GPS on the watch.
I'm interested in trying this out. How's progress on the app?
Link not working
I would love to participate but the link is not working
I would like to apply for the beta but the link is not working.
I mostly go sporting/gym 3 times a week.
Can i get a beta because i was searching for this kinda app ?
Thanks !

With Open Mic+ for Google Now, access all the commands from anywhere on your phone. Simply say "Okay Google" or wave your hand in front of the screen. Screen on, screen off Google Now will be ready to listen.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
Google Now becomes more conversational as after a search just say Okay Google to start a new one. And even better get the answers to your questions while your hands are tied, or when you're on the couch, or in the car.
TOMORROW'S FEATURES TODAY
Everybody's talking about the new Open Mic features for the Moto X, but now any phone that is running Jelly Bean or higher can have the same experience.
SEAMLESS
Open Mic+ will run in the background and can be configured to start at boot so that it truly becomes part of the phone.
OFFLINE
Open Mic+ uses offline voice recognition which means less data usage and faster results.
100% FREE
We saved the best for last. Open Mic+ has no ads, no in-app purchases, and is free to download. So why are you still reading this? Try Open Mic+ for Google Now.
I installed it and it is working smoothly yet but the developer looks promosing... and the application too! You can check it out here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.RSen.OpenMic

It a nice feature for sure but it would be good to make it alive without the display on because our is so hungry ^_^
Thank you!
COuld someone post an apk file as I have the Package File is Invalid Bug DD: )
This is an awesome idea!
Tested on the Motorola RAZR M running 4.3.
Great combination with ActiveNotifications (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.greatbytes.activenotifications)

Is there a way to theme this app to match the new always listening feature on the new Motorola X?
The tasker integration seems not working. It keeps going back to Google now instead of my Tasker task. Of course my Tasker allows external access. Please help as this is a huge thing for me.
this seems to have disappeared from Play?
Not on the play store. Would someone kindly post the apk?
You all are way better off following development on the Google+ page: https://plus.google.com/112424215551484520138/posts. This post isn't official.
It's been removed from the Play Store but you can still get it on the Amazon App Store. http://www.amazon.com/Open-Mic-for-Google-Now/dp/B00F106RGU/
It'd be nice if he would post his updates and stuff in here like many devs do

Waiting for Android 4.4 to hopefully incorporate the always on capabilities of the S800 though for zero battery drain.
Just finished creating my first set of Facer watch faces, and thought I would offer them up for download. I plan to keep improving them, so stay tuned!
* NOTE: As of this posting, the only version that is available is for 320px by 320px devices. It was designed on the Gear Live, but plans are to create variants for 240px by 240px, and the round Moto 360/future devices.

step counter
Hi Scar,
I just noticed this morning (installed it last night) that the step counter display is fixed at 14995 (or something in that order) instead of the actual value of 38.
If you can export flat text of the code (or an idea of how to decode the binary), I can modify and test on my LG G Watch and get it back to you.
I'm not very familiar with Facer but I can give it a try.
Regards,
Rh.
nvm
I opened up Facer and edited the face myself. I did some small adjustments.
I raised the time, date, battery up and left 20 units each and removed the droid and the step counter. Those things are almost always covered by the google cards anyways.
Thank you very much for this watch face, it is definately my favourite.
I'm using a LG G Watch, btw.

Hey Ironman_stittsville,
Sorry I missed your message, but yea, the step counter inaccuracy is actually a known bug with Facer itself. The dev is great however, and while Facer still isn't at v1.0 yet, I imagine he'll get everything working soon enough.
Thanks for the kind feedback regarding my face though!
Hi all, quick note to let you know that I've updated the Retro LCD watch face (both normal and inverted) to remove the (buggy) step-counter, and instead replace with weather information, including icons.
Here's a shot of the new UI:

The Best Designed Android Apps
When thinking about what kind of design you want to go with for your app, you're probably pulling inspiration from an existing app that you have in mind. Have you ever downloaded an app and just been like "Wtf this is amazing!" Design goes hand in hand with functionality and these specific apps just nail that balance.
I'm going to list some of the best designed apps so hopefully you can get inspired to implement some of these looks into your own app. What I find best about these apps is that each one in very unique. Let's check them out.
Top Five Best Designed Android Apps
5. Lyft
Lyft is a taxi-alternative ride sharing app. It's so easy to use, you'll be setup and ready to go within 2 minutes tops. You can view where the local cabs are and filter through the different types of rides you want. The graphical interface is simple and to-the-point.

4. Pocket Casts
Pocket Casts will deliver all of your favorite podcasts directly into your ears. I've learned so much from podcasts. Did you know 9/11 was an inside job?! Crazy! What's every crazier is how good this app looks. The media player is brilliant with how they display all the information you need in simple and clever icons. Check out these screenshots to see what I mean.

3. B&H Photo Video Pro Audio
When you first launch this app you'll be expecting the usual shopping app like Amazon or Walmart. Boy are you in for a surprise. This is one of the best looking shopping apps you will find. It's worth downloading just to check it out and see how great everything looks.
2. Weather Timeline - Forecast
You're probably not used to paying 99 cents for a weather app. You're probably also not used to having a weather app that will blow your socks off and suck on your toes. This is by far the best designed weather app on the Play store. Check your forecast in style, right before the tornado hits and destroys your entire town.
1. Tumblr
The animations in the tumblr app won it a Material Design Award from Google. Tumblr is the app to check out if you want to trigger your creativity for animations and layout design. It really adds something nice to the experience when you're posting selfies of your new blue and green hair color.
These are my favorites apps when it comes to design, and they have all be featured at least once on Googles design website. What apps do you think have fantastic designs? Share them in the comments.
Sweet man
Hi guys, recently i had some time to learn some Java, and since there was not any watchface i liked in particular i decided to make one by myself.
SCREENSHOTS BELOW
APK ATTACHED TO POST, SEE BOTTOM
My objective was to make a watchface as realistic as possible, and i achieved this with reflections based on hand movement, realistic minutes and seconds hands that smoothly move following force law and high res textures.
Even if it looks an heavy computing app it is butter smooth in my G Watch R and cpu isn't much stressed.
It is the closest to real smartwatch i've seen.
I'm giving this to you hoping you all like it, if you want you can help me keeping up with this just by downloading and rating the free app, which is the same as the paid one except for advanced effects like reflections and force based hands movement:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=wear.trombettonj.trombt1steelfree
And here is the paid app, with the lowest possible price i could set in play store:

Never mind. I have located a bunch of watch faces online. But what I meant by "realistic looking date" is the small glass bubble located on real watches to magnify the date number (like on a Rolex or a Panerai). Thanks anyway.
Thanks for giving the XDA community exclusive free access. Its pretty cool of you
Also, this is completely unrelated to the topic... But could you make a digital watchface? That would be awesome! I can't find any digital watchface that I like.
Hi XDA,
New member with low-level coding ability looking for some advice.
I've just bought the Stratos and amazed with its features, and also the quite poor app market for it. I'm a big windsurfer/surfer and looking to customise the watch for these activities.
Questions 1:
Is there any ETA on adding a new sport to the watch? SUP/Windsurfing/Surfing? Its basically just the Ski setting without vertical.
Question 2:
I've read up on how to create a custom watch face. How do I have this watch face display data from a website/API? I'd like to display data from magic seaweed/windguru on the watch face ideally to create something similar to the Surfline app:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
How is this possible? Or is it possible to install Android Wear apps onto the Stratos (meaning I could use the Surfline face)?
Thanks!
To start with, you have to get these data somehow. I suppose there are sites displaying those characteristics based on the location? If this is true you could make a widget displaying these features pulling the data from your phone's internet connection.
Take a look at Quinny's Train schedule widget...

Did you ever get anywhere with this? It is so much harder than I thought to find a tide app for an Android or Tizen watch!!
