Recommended earbuds ? - Nexus 6 Accessories

I used to have some old Skullcandy earbuds that I bought discounted in early 2012. Since then they have went out so I had to replace them and got ink'd 2 off Ebay. The pack I got did not come in the original packaging, so I'm not sure if they were fakes, but at any rate they were total junk and one earpiece was not working.
Do you have any recommended earbuds that work well and are priced around $20-25 max ? I use earbuds (corded), no muffs or cordless. Typically they get used pretty heavily at the gym so there's sweat, dropping, etc, etc...hence I don't want to spend too much on earbuds that will get roughed up.
I had some dual driver Xiaomi I bought, they are OK, but nothing too wild. The reviews were good so I was expecting something better, but they were not as good as my old Skullcandy ones.

Bluetooth earbuds are now in the $15-20 range. I personally got a taotronics pair from amazon that are no longer available apparently for $15. The sound is fine. The problem of course is that the battery is about 6 hours of sound and when you are done, you have to make sure you turn them off to save battery. But still, go for them. Not having a cord wrapped around your body is nice.

I'm still partial to Skull Candy's 2XL brand...I picked up a set of Spokes I believe they were called (the ones without a mic) for like $7- $11. Pair them with Viper4android and they're surprisingly good....they can handle more than my Sennheiser set it spent over $80 for.

This isn't really the place to ask about earbuds, if you even mean earbuds and perhaps want IEM's (In Ear Monitors)

JBL J46BT

KZ ATEs or Piston 3s

Got some SoundPeats from Amazon or $30! They since went down a LOT! You can get em for like, $16 or so. I got the SoundPeats QY9 but some claimed the QY8 had deeper bass. Not sure, but i love em! Bluetooth headphones.

The Sony Extra Bass sound pretty good, especially with V4A and Dolby Atmos. Also durable and comfortable. I've seen them on Amazon for $25-30.

Personally I use Aukee bluetooth earbuds and I love these! I got them at Amazon for about $25 or so. Really good sound. AUKEY EP-B24 Bluetooth Headphones. Android guys did a review on them but I think they understated them. If you use a music player with good EQ they rock. I like doubletwist for that.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I haven't been able to check out these yet as its been a busy time for me but I have lots of recommendations to look into. Thanks for everyone's input!

Well they actually just quit working on me this week. The battery no longer charges so they only work plugged in making them pointless. So, guess my reccomendation was premature.

Klipsch S4 for wired. I really like my Bluetooth Power Beats 2 (sweat and water resistant) with a little bass reduction.

For $25-$30 a set of AKG Y20U earbuds are hard to beat, hands down.
They tested really well against many other earbuds according to The Wirecutter.

I like mine, which live in a zip lock bag at the bottom of a soft briefcase. They roll out and work everytime, no problem. They're tough, crisp, deep, and CHEAP. They also have a built in mic and action button...

I didn't order the bluetooth earbuds. I tried the Ep c2 from aukey, and aukey was a very good advice. For 12 € on amazon together with arise soundmod I really do enjoy the sound of my Nexus for cheap money.
Thanks for the aukey advice :good:

Good pair of headphones

I'm not that impressed with the sound quality on the flyer and was looking into getting some over, or on, the ear headphones. Any of you guys have suggestions for some nice quality ones?

There are literally hundreds of great over the ear headphones out there, but because I travel on airplanes a lot, I use a set of the Sony Active noise cancelling phones and they are magnificent. I don't remember the model number but I will look it up. I paid about $70 on sale for them. They fold nicely into a case.

My opinion of Beats by Dr. Dre is pretty much the same as most Monster products. Stylish and high quality but over priced and over speced without providing additional technical listening benefits for the overages. Plenty of equal or better products at half the price unless you are into fashion plates.

What I don't like about V Moda is their low durability. I've owned a few V-Modas and I practically babied them, but still, they lose their volume.
What's your price range admiral? Do you need noise cancelling and what type of music do you listen to?
Here are some I own or have heard. But again price range and music type would help.

I bought some Beats Solo HD's for my son for Xmas and was actually very surprised by the sound quality. I honestly think they sound better than my Sennheiser's (which I paid $220 for).
On top of it, I only paid $130 for his (on sale).
I am not normally an advocate for overpriced stuff, but when looking for headphones I didn't rule out anything.
I went to a few electronics places that sell headphones and had them available for listening. I have actually compared Sennheiser, Skullcandy, Bose and Beats. I have also used Vmoda (which fell apart) as well as many other types for Bluetooth and wired in-ear from Sony, Panasonic and so on.
All that said, the Beats Pro had the best sound in my opinion, however @400 dollars they are cost prohibitive. Then come the Bose, which sound well enough, but by comparison seem kind of flimsily constructed. The Sennheiser are a little better built, but the sound leaves a little to be desired (when comparing the different headphones head-to-head). The Skullcandy are good disposable headphones. The Panasonic "Marshmallows" if you can find them are a solid in-ear with marshmallow squishy ear pieces like most of the isolating disposable earplugs, which isolate sound very well.
I hate to give the Beats the credit, but the really do sound better, so I went out on my local Craigslist and found a lightly used pair for $200. This is definitely worth the money. If your not sure which to pick, then head to a local Best Buy, FYE, or other music store that sells headphones, you can actually try out some of the more popular models. What sounds good to one person, may not sound as nice to another person because the music type plays a huge role in selection.
I strongly suggest Panasonic "Marshmallows" for a great headphone under $20. I found out my local Big Lots was selling them for $10. I bought a pair for my siblings, and backup for me over the holidays.
The buds have plenty of bass, and because they effectively suppress the outside noise you don't need to turn up volume as loud. They are great workout phones. They don't come out easily, and they really block out all the annoyances that come with every gym.

Ear Buds

So I love my X2. I have the volume+ APK installed. I have yet to find a great pair of ear buds to use. I had a pair of titanium Skull Candys. I really like them but I would love something with a built in mic.
I am thinking about getting these tomorrow. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Monster...ones/1299999.p?id=1218248660227&skuId=1299999
I had the Beats but wasn't all that crazy about them. I love some added bass and clarity. But really...when I have ear buds in I want to hear NOTHING else!
Any help would be great. ty!
i bought the headphones above. they work great! The sound is amazing. I can hear things that I couldn't hear with other earbuds. The control talk will work once I change to an iphone in May. SO until then...they are just great ear bubs

You're different from us, aren't you?
The Bose earbuds, although pricey, are fantastic. They even have 3 different sizes (all included with the purchase) of the part that goes in your ears. Stop into a bose store some time and ask them if you can hook your phone up to it.
Bose, Monster, and Skull candy are all poor quality for the money you spend (you pay for the brand, not the item).
I recommend these Sennheisers (Link: amazon.com/Sennheiser-CX200-Twist-To-Fit-Earbuds/dp/B001EZUQ5E because I can hyperlink) that are $24 currently (I got mine at FYE for $20). They're by far one of the best earbuds I've heard in the sub-$40 category.
If you are willing to shell out 70 dollars, you could get the klipsch s4 ear buds. They sound great, and they have 4 different ear bud tips. After getting sand and water in them, they still work perfectly.

+1 on the Klipsch S4's. I have a set and for the money, they are great. I had a set of Bose OE2 headphones that were $100 more than the S4 earbuds. After I bought the earbuds, I never used the headphones again. The S4's were superior in sound quality by far. At least to my ears. I ended up giving the headphones to my daughter.

The best bet for under $100 is the Klipsch Pro Media earphones with Mic. They are compatible with any Android device and the same build as the Klipsch S4. You will generally pay the same amount.
For high end, the UE TripleFi 10vi is also android compatible. For these, just buy the Triple V 10 and then buy the extra cable that includes the Mic for $30. This will save $100 over the 10vi with the exact same results.
Make sure you avoid any earphones with a three switch mic. These are only compatible with IPhoney.

Didnt see a mic on those phones, otherwise I would buy them. But dont get the wrong idea, Sennhieser is and will forever be awesome. My best friend's dad is an audio engineer and studio owner and he has a contract with Sennhiser. They are sweet!
But anyways, I got my skullcandy buds (with microphone) on the cheap from amazon (~$13). Ive been quite pleased with them. Im a pretty quiet talker and people Im taking to almost never have a problem hearing over the mic. The phones themselves do a great job of filling out the whole spectrum of sound. One thing that Skullcandies give me is enormous ear bud sizes. When Im studying I want everyone to shut the **** up; I dont want to hear anything I dont want to hear. Turn on some nice jazz and bam; total isolation!!
Im throwing in my vote for some Sol Republic amps. They aren't ridiculously priced like beats, and out perform them on every level besides the bass. I don't know if you prefer hifi over over powering bass. If you liked the beats, id definitely try these out!
Can't Agree

What are some of the best premium headphones for the s2? I'm looking to spend between $100 - $200. I actually don't care if they are headphones or earbuds just as long as they fit in my pocket.

I am a headphone junky... (I couldn't possibly name all the ones I've ever had haha) but all I can say is beats are overpriced for what they are. If you want a truly good pair of headphones, get the ultrasone hfi 580's. The sound is absolutely amazing!! Has a lot of bass but is is very tight, and not muddy (like the beats are). Also there is no lack in the highs and midrange. Of all the headphones I have used, there is nothing that comes close in my opinion. They are about $140 so they also fall in your range.
I just got the Klipsch S4 Reference and they look and sound amazing!

I can't see that ever being worth it. I got some sennheiser cx200s (I think) recently on sale for 15 and they're awesome.
Klipsch, Sennheiser, Shure - all well respected high-end brands
Skullcandy is well below the price range you state but they offer good "bang for your buck", especially if you buy a set of Comply foam eartips for their earbuds.
Bose and Beats are massively overpriced crap.
Q&A or Accessories... Q&A or Accessories... where oh where do I throw this thread?
Moved to Accessories.
I am using Ultimate Ears 600 with my SGS 2, got for $78 from Amazon during Christmas sale. You can find it around $80 on amazon from time to time; however, you will probably want to buy 600vi, it has mic and controls and as much as I know everything but volume control works there. These are armature headphones and renewed superfi 5, so if you listen bass and not music, I would not recommend though. Klipsch S4 are also good from what I heard, but according to this and this theme, UI has better build quality quality, but S4i sounds better.... but I cannot personally comment how they differ. One thing, I am happy with UI 600.
Also just noticed that superfi 10 on sale again. This are one of the best IEM on the market. There is also vi version, with mic and so on, but I never saw it to go on sale, and you can buy replacement cable with mic for superfi 10 from logitech website anyway.
And yes, should agree about beats, as overpriced crap made and sold my same company who sells overpriced cables.
Don't get Beats.. They're overpriced useless things. Quality of sound and build is nothing compared to better companies such as Bose and Sennheiser. I'd suggest getting a pair of those. I have CX 400's and they're very good. Of course you can get higher-priced pairs. They really do make a difference in sound. For people who say otherwise, try a pair of 200 dollar headphones/earbuds and then try a pair of 10 dollar JVCs... It's night and day.

To each his own i guess.. The earbuds sound awesome.. Deep bass and very very clear. For everyone that says they don't- well that's just stupid. They could be a little over priced but the sound quality is the best I've heard coming out of ANY earbuds. Even uses Monster cable.. (high-end stereo/speaker wire).. Depends who you are.. Someone like me is't gonna spend any less than $100 bucks anyway, regardless of what kind of headphones i get and when you get up in that price range (unless your spending $3/$400), your selection greatly gets narrowed down.. Agreed 100 fold. Beats are for people who don't know anything about balanced sound and just want muddy thumping. They don't even have as much of a kick as they should for what they're going after.
I personally have Phonak Audeo PFEs. I bought them for use with an mp3 player and not a phone so I'm not sure how they'd work out there. I am one who with always tune my equalizer to get the sound I want, and the PFEs are great in that regard. They have a very balanced sound which lets me EQ to my hearts content without getting any sort of distortion. The low end is a bit lacking compared to other headphones I've had (like Hippo VBs and CX300s) but they have better mid and high range to compensate.

I'd recommend these SOUL by Ludacris SL150CB for the perfect sound quality. I'm amazed by how clean these sound. They are more expensive than those you're looking at and they're over-ear. Just a friendly suggestion. Plus they have in-line controls with a mic. (They actually come with 2 cables, one with the in-line and one without it).
As for in-ear, I haven't used any of those, but would recommend the Bose based on past experience with their products. Generally they just have a cleaner sound. I might recommend the SOUL in-ear headset also. I'm not sure if they have the in-line control, but they should have some with it. The headphones I have are very clean sounding with just the right amount of bass for everything. Just a thought
If you are lucky you can still find Klipsch X5 for under $100 still, bass is clear with instrument that is better than the others listed here. Its actually a $225+ iem that are on sale for under $100 now. The S4 is a bit sibilant vs the others, but bass production is solid for the price.
I would also say really take a look at the Monster Turbine line, may not be as flashy or what not as the Beats, but they sound better for the same price as the Beats(after all Monster is the company that made the Beats line). Trust me these are way better than the iBeats and the Beats by Dre, at the same price.

I should sell mine too, I have a pair of Etymotic ER-4's I've been using for a couple years now.

Just sold my ibeats for $75 today. I like the base and quality of the earphones but couldn't stand the cheap flimsy cord and weak highs and mids. I'm looking for another set of earphones and am down to four. I would like audio controls on the cord but it's not a necessity since I prefer sound quality over audio controls any day of the week. Which set do you prefer and why? Your comments would be greatly appreciated and really helpful. If you have another set of earphones in mind, well please feel free to post a comment about the. Thanks!

I had the Shure SE215, and sold them, I thought the sound was very weak. I DO however have the Shure SE530s and these are the best in-ear phones in existance, bar none!! Assuming you're not in the market for $350-$400 earbuds, however, for ~ $75 (they were $55 when I got them) the klipsch s4s sound fantastic. I compared them against the bose, and thought they (the klipsch) sounded much better. ymmv
If sound quality is more important to you than bass, I go with the Etymotic MC2s. They include a mic and volume controls. I owned the Klipsch Image S4, and while they were good, they were a bit heavy on the bass. Etymotics are cleaner with less bass distortion.
My vote for the best over the ear headphones goes to V-Moda Crossfade. Nearly half the price of Beats and the sound is amazing. Plus they come in a variety of colors to satisfy whatever vibe your going for.

My vote goes here too. The Crossfade LP can be found for a little over $100 on eBay and sound great. They also have amazing build quality and look frekin sick. Check them out, you won't be disappointed if you buy a pair.
Well i appreciate everybody's input. Those all seem like good pics but i ended up going with the bose mie2 and etymotic research hf5. Im going to do an extensive test on both and return the one that i dont want. Im leaning more towards the etymotics though due to its earbud inserts.

I looked up the x5's but i couldnt find a legit and good pair anywhere. Seems like the chinese are making tons of x5 and x10 knockoffs.

I got mines at Frys, but price went up to $150 now. And from what I was told there is no knock off of these, but there is of the pricier X10.
I would ask around to see how legit it is, but you can now get the X10 for pretty cheap on amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-Image...HFBK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1329122892&sr=8-3
I have the Audeo Phonak PFE 012's.

They are amazing, very strong bass.

I thought that too until I got a set of Ultimate Ears TripleFi's. Now I never use the 530s anymore.

Well, I guess this is a very ymmv thing. Based on your recommendation, and the excellent reviews the Triplefis get, I ordered a pair and lived them a week. I don't care for them, thought the bass was boomy and the imaging not as good as the 530s, so I returned them. I know all about requiring a good seal with earbuds, so that wasn't my issue.
But I'm always searching for a less expensive alternative to the Shures (I know the cable's going to tear off one of these days).
I highly recommend Etymotic headphones. I have the mc5's. They have great bass without muffling mids like beats and excellent sound isolation. Etymotic.com also check out head-fi.org for rank and reviews

I too have the Klipsch S4i. There are better sounding earbuds, but not for less than twice the price. These are about the best sound and comfort per dollar. IMHO

Truly Wireless Earbuds

Would love TW Earbuds coming directly from Oneplus as those would have been VFM but I don't see anything coming from them. The wireless bullets they have released are not Truly wireless. So looking forward to suggestions for some budget truly wireless earbuds.
I just purchased the Jabra Active Elite 65t wireless earbuds for all around music and movie watching on my phone and tablet. Great for workouts too. Sound is excellent and battery life is decent as I get a little over 5 hours of continuous play before having to recharge them with the small case / charger it came with. The Sound plus app is also good as it adds more features to the earbuds. Give it a try. Enjoy.
I've been using the Jabra Elite Sport since last year. Initially with my OG Pixel. And now either the OP6t.
It's done what I needed a TW earbuds for workouts, running, listening to tunes while working and answering and making phone calls. The call quality has been superb on both ends
The ones i am using right now:
I am using the Insignia bluetooth headsets (NS-CAHBTEB01) that i picked up at BestBuy for about $30 and they are great in both sound and design. These are made of plastic mostly so they might be more inclined to break if mishandled but they work perfectly for me. Average life for music is about 10 hours apparently and have a comfortable neckstrap to keep things clean. It includes controls for music and incoming calls on the headsets as well so they truly provide the bluetooth experience that i was looking for.
+1 for the Jabra elite 65t. 5 hours for one session is considered excellent battery life for truly wireless buds. The case is good for another 3 charges or so and it only takes like an hour to recharge.
Use it mainly for workouts but also on the bus/train in NYC on occasion. As with any truly wireless earbuds, you will get some interference when you are around a ton of other people with tech. Doesn't happen often but walking around NYC it does tend to happen here and there.

Using apple airpods. Great that there’s no buttons. Turns on and connects once taken out of case. Double tap either pauses music or hangs up calls. Bluetooth audio tuner has an apple AirPod preset so they are tuned and sound good.
Down side no volume control on the buds.
Using TicPods Free, Lava color. Love them. Definitely recommend

Blue TicPods here - I love them. My wife has the white ones and she likes them too.
I have the Bose Soundsport free buds.
Another vote for the Jabra Elite 65t.
Out of all the wireless earbuds I've tried, it's the best battery life and sound quality. It also just works seamlessly when connecting to my phone.
Finally settled with the Samsung Galaxy Buds. Fits great without being too obvious like the Bose Soundsports. No problems with connection. Sounds nice. Completely satisfied till now.
Mifa X3 are what I've just bought. Inexpensive and great sound quality once I found some 'ear cushions' that fitted my ears better than the ones fitted on delivery. Of the sets supplied, one pair fitted well and gave good sound, but going through my selection of spare 'ear cushions' I found some that fitted even better and sounded even better too. Charged them up and had them running last night for almost 3 hours non stop. The touch controls are tricky to master, but other than that, no complaints. Sound just as good as my Denon (partially wired) Bluetooth ones that cost £170, and are more comfortable to wear. Bought from Amazon for only £26.
I too have the Jabra 65t buds. Beware though, I've sent mine back in for RMA due to a known issue where they won't sync and the right bud becomes so quiet that it's unusable, they have a new hardware revision that fixes this. I will say that Jabra customer support is excellent and gave me no runaround at all. The worst part was having to wait for the week on exchange.
I'm waiting for the Sabbat E12. I saw great reviews online.

I use the IconX 2018 edition! Amazing hardware! One of the few earbuds where you can listen to your own tunes from the bud itself. No need for Bluetooth connection
The newer buds you cannot do that but I believe those have slightly better battery and wireless charging.
The first model, forget it. Battery life I believe was 3 hours
I use the Anker Soundcore Liberty Air and they are amazing! Has a good and secure fit and thanks to Bluetooth 5.0, it seamlessly connects with my 6T. Sound is pretty good. Here are some pictures. And as for price, I stay in the United Arab Emirates so it's for AED 230.
Honestly I work in I.T. as an IMAC tech. I build computers all day and deploy. I'm able to get 8 hours out of my "Tranya T2" headphones.
The sound is fantastic for just $59.49 CAD or $45 USD.
There is no lack of bass, in fact it's pretty mind blowing, however it does not muddy up the sound at all. Its' right where you need it when you want it.
The right earbud is the master, and the left one is a slave to the right one. So if you want to use it mono, it'll just be the right one. This isn't a problem for me.
I've used them for 8 hours on a single charge *each earbud can last much longer than 8 hours* The charging case will charge the earbuds 4x before the case itself needs to be charged. Luckily it charges in something like an hour or less.
Each earbud magnetically snaps into it's own charging port. Not overly necessary but I love that feature.
I'm a bit of an audiophile, have been my entire life however I feel pretty safe bringing something of this value to work, and not having to worry about my top earphones.
I also cut the lawn with them, as the sound isolation is amazing.
